This study investigated the challenges independent retailers in Soweto, Johannesburg in South Africa face. The empirical research using a survey method was conducted among independent retailers selling different types of goods. Due to inaccessibility of a database on independent retailers in SA, a convenience sampling method was adopted for the study. Existing literature was used to design a questionnaire targeted at independent retailers to investigate the challenges that impact on their business performance. The findings of the study revealed that competition is the major challenge that independent retailers face which is supported by existing research findings. Other challenges included costs of buying the products, high inventory costs and high rental costs. Furthermore, this study found that marketing related challenges are major challenges compared to finance related challenges. Independent retailers need to market the businesses appropriately in order to survive and do better than their competitors. Keywords: independent retailess, costs, buying, selling, goods. Independent retailers face many challenges that influence their growth and development. Independent retailers are small businesses facing competition from major retailers in South Africa (SA) that have penetrated the townships and rural areas. The purpose of the study was to investigate the challenges that influence the development of independent retailers in SA. A survey was conducted among small independent retailers in SA. The convenience sampling method was adopted for the study due to the inaccessibility of a database on independent retailers in SA. Existing literature was used to design a questionnaire, targeted at small independent retailers, to investigate the challenges that influence their business performance. The findings of the study revealed that finance and marketing are the major challenges influencing the operations of small, independent retailers. Business-related challenges are the least challenging aspects for small independent retailers in SA. Independent retailers need to manage their businesses appropriately in order to survive and sustain their businesses. Independent retailers buy products from wholesalers while a few of them buy directly from manufacturers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the capabilities of business performance in creative culinary ventures in Makassar City, Indonesia. Data were obtained from sources using a questionnaire distributed to 1,402 entrepreneurs in the small and medium business category. The sampling method is probability sampling with simple random sampling technique. The number of samples in this study was determined using the Slovin formula of 311 people, totalling 197 respondents who received the questionnaire in full. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with structural equation modelling techniques. The research findings explain dynamic capabilities that are important for enhancing innovation and business performance, as well as to assist future researchers to examine other factors that are predictors in improving business performance.

This research is an investigation into the motivating factors driving choice of bank for SME entrepreneurs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study aims to highlight the challenges and suggest solutions in addressing the credit gap between the cash flow needs of SME entrepreneurs and the finance policies of UAE banks. The data collected was generated from a sample of SME owner-managers in three emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. A structured research questionnaire was distributed and the convenience sampling method resulted in 380 completed responses. These were analyzed using appropriate statistical tools. The results of the study will enable banks to better understand and analyze the key determinants that impact the SME entrepreneurs’ attitude in bank selection and the products and services this particular group values. Research findings are also envisaged to be of particular interest to scholars and practitioners of Islamic Banking specifically, inspiring further studies across the MENA region.

This research was carried out using the survey method in an attempt to find out the relationship between the life satisfaction and socio-economic status (SES) of adolescents. The research was conducted among 275 young Turkish people chosen by the random sampling method. The research findings determined that there was a significant difference between the life satisfaction and SES of the respondent students. On the other hand, contrary to expectations, there was no significant difference according to the gender variable.

A B S T R A C T Audit quality is the possibility of finding and reported a violation of the client’s accounting system. This study aims to examine the influence influence the integrity, objectivity and professionalism of auditors on audit quality. The study used survey method in January to March 2014. Research sampling method based on convenience in the election samplel by destination. Respondents many as 82 people. The data analyzed using regression methods. The results indicate variable integrity, objectivity and professionalism of auditors affect simultaneously and can be used to predict the quality of audit results. From the research hypothesis can result in that variable integrity of auditors have a significant positive effect on audit quality. Professionalism variable also has a significant positive effect on audit quality but objectivity variable has no significant effect on audit quality. A B S T R A K Kualitas audit adalah kemungkinan menemukan dan melaporkan pelanggaran sistem akuntansi klien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh mempengaruhi integritas, objektivitas dan profesionalisme auditor terhadap kualitas audit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei di Januari - Maret 2014. Metode penelitian sampling berdasarkan kenyamanan dalam pemilihan samplel oleh tujuan. Responden sebanyak 82 orang. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan integritas variabel, objektivitas dan profesionalisme auditor berpengaruh secara simultan dan dapat digunakan untuk memprediksi kualitas hasil audit. Dari hipotesis penelitian dapat menghasilkan bahwa integritas variabel auditor memiliki efek positif yang signifikan terhadap kualitas audit. Variabel Profesionalisme juga memiliki efek positif yang signifikan terhadap kualitas audit, tetapi variabel objektivitas tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kualitas audit. The number of different types of businesses that are starting to emerge in Indonesia shows that business development is now accelerating. As a result of the recent increase in the number of enterprises, a lot of businesses will confront strong rivalry in every aspect of their operations in today's market. As a result, every company must be adept and compete fiercely when dealing with competition. However, the predominant problem that could effects the company sustain is through there product quality, customer perception of price as well as customer satisfaction which could effect the customer loyalty. In aim to learn more about this issue, this reseacrh is intended to investigate the effects of product quality, perception of price and customer satisfaction on customer loyalty at CV Bintang Jaya Abadi, Medan. By using a quantitative approach, the sampling method is done by using the Lemeshow formula. Thus, the samples that were taken are 96.04 = 100 respondents. In analyzing all the data, SPSS 25.0 was being conducted in this research and the data was collected by distributing online questionnaires, the data measurement used the 5-point Likert scale to measure all (19) indicators. Besides that, multiple linear regression analysis was utilized in this reseacrh. Based on the results of this reseacrh, it shows that the Product quality (X1) and Customer Loyalty (Y) variables have negative and no significant effect. However, Perception of Price (X2), Customer Satisfaction (X3) and Customer Loyalty (Y) variables have positive and significant effect. This indicates that enterprise should take this factors in implementing the decision or technique towards the business performance in order to achieve the maximum results aswell as to improve the company development.

Craft producers in South Africa (SA) face many challenges including supply chain challenges. There is no existing study that has investigated the supply chain management of the craft industry in SA. There is also dearth of literature on supply chain management of small businesses. The purpose of this study was to investigate the supply chain practices and challenges of craft producers in South Africa. A survey was conducted among 199 craft producers in Gauteng, South Africa. A convenience sampling method was adopted owing to the difficulty of accessing a reliable database of craft producers. Craft producers rely mainly on phones for customers to place orders. However, they use variety of methods for order placement. Customers are allowed to also visit the factory to buy products and they can buy at the exhibition. They use a variety of production methods. Due to transportation challenges, craft producers also make use of public transport to deliver goods and keep some products at the warehouse.

Background: The Tobacco Products Control Act, No. 83 of 1993 was introduced in South Africa in 1993. Due to the shortfalls of the 1993 Act, the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act, No. 12 of 1999 was passed in 1999. The regulation relating to smoking of tobacco products in public places was gazetted in 2000 and implemented in 2001.Setting: The setting for the study was all selected registered licensed bar-lounges including restaurants within the municipality. Purpose of the study: To examine compliance levels with the current smoke-free regulation at bar-lounges and restaurants in Thulamela Municipality.Objectives of the study: To observe whether structural alterations had been effected to accommodate smoking patrons. To observe whether tobacco-related litter was present in nonsmoking areas and in the outdoor areas within 5 meters of windows and entry ways. To observe whether individuals or groups engaged in smoking in non-smoking areas.Methods: An observational survey was conducted to measure the level of compliance by lounges and restaurants in Thulamela Municipality. A convenience sampling method was used to sample 56 bar-lounges, including restaurants. Data were collected using an observation log. Collected data were analysed using SPSS 20.0.Results: The study findings noted low compliance with the legislation with only one establishment (1.8%) complying with the requirements of the legislation.Conclusion: The level of compliance with the legislation is in a very low state in Thulamela Municipality. Further research is needed to explore factors influencing non-compliance with the regulation.Keywords: Tobacco, legislations, compliance, restrictions, establishments, evaluation

Entrepreneurial orientation has been recognized as one of the determinants of business performance. The purpose of this study is to determine the entrepreneurial orientation of women entrepreneurs in Sabah by adopting entrepreneurial orientation five-dimensions.   A quantitative study using questionnaire was adopted. The respondents of the study were women entrepreneurs who took part in Sabah Women Entrepreneur Carnival 2020, organized by Sabah Women's Affairs Department.  The sampling method adopted was convenience sampling. Questionnaires were distributed to 150 women entrepreneurs, but only 93 responses were usable.  The findings of the study indicate women entrepreneurs in Sabah are entrepreneurial oriented as the mean scores were all above 3.5.  Moreover, out of the five dimensions, these women entrepreneurs are more competitive as it has the highest mean score (M=4.18).   However, women entrepreneurs in Sabah are found not proactive since the mean score generated was the lowest among all five dimensions with M=3.22.   The study adds some contributions to the field of entrepreneurship.  Ministries and agencies involved with the development of women entrepreneurs in Sabah can aid and support women entrepreneurs to grow and sustain their business. Various courses and training can be offered to enhance women entrepreneur’s knowledge and skills.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi cara penyembelihan sapi di Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Keudah dan Lambaro sesuai dengan prosedur yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Keudah dan Lambaro pada tanggal 10 – 29 Juni 2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Variabel yang diamati adalah persyaratan peralatan pemotongan, prosedur pemotongan sapi dan higienis pekerja RPH Keudah dan Lambaro. teknik pengambilan sampel penelitian menggunakan metode Purposive Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Keudah memiliki persyaratan peralatan sebanyak 60% berada pada kategori cukup dan RPH Lambaro sebanyak 55% berada pada kategori kurang. Prosedur pemotongan sapi di RPH Keudah dan Lambaro sama-sama mendapat persentase 81,81% dan berada pada kategori baik. Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Keudah memilik higienis pekerja sebanyak 45,24% berada pada kategori kurang dan RPH Lambaro 59,26% berada pada kategori kurang. Dari hasil penelitian  ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa persyaratan peralatan RPH Keudah lebih baik dari RPH lambaro, prosedur pemotongan RPH Keudah dan Lambaro sama-sama dalam kategori baik dan higienis pekerja RPH Lambaro lebih baik dari RPH Keudah.Evaluation Method Cattle Slaughtering at Slaughterhouse (RPH) Keudah and LambaroAbstract.   This study aims to evaluate the method of slaughtering cows at the House of Animal Slaughter (RPH) Keudah and Lambaro in accordance with procedures established by the government. This research was conducted at the House of Animal Slaughtering (RPH) Keudah and Lambaro on 10 - 29 June 2017. This research used survey method. The variables observed were the requirements of cutting equipment, cow cutting procedures and the hygiene of RPH Keudah and Lambaro workers. Research sampling technique using Purposive Sampling method. The results showed that the House of Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) Keudah has 60% of equipment requirements are in enough category and 55% LP RPH is in the less category. Cattle slaughtering procedures in RPH Keudah and Lambaro both got 81.81% percentage and are in good category. Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) Keudah has 45.24% worker hygiene is in the less category and RPH Lambaro 59.26% is in the less category. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the RPH Keudah equipment requirements are better than RPH lambaro, the cutting procedure of RPH Keudah and Lambaro are both in good category and the hygienic of RPH Lambaro workers is better than RPH Keudah.
