Curriculum 2013 has been officially implemented in all schools in Indonesia. This curriculum has quite a fundamental change in the competencies to be achieved. These changes lead to changes in the profile of students and teachers are expected. These changes lead to conversion in the expected profile of students and teachers. Teacher, a leading role in the successful implementation of the curriculum in schools, is required to create an interactive learning environment in which students and teachers participate actively. The additional hours of study is intended to provide sufficient time for the two-way communication. However, most of the teachers are not ready to create an active space of two-way communication. In fact, the communication competency is the first competency to be achieved in the curriculum in 2013 and became an important teaching method during the learning process. Therefore, the communication ability of the teachers is very important in the success of the implementation of Curriculum 2013. Teachers must be able to communicate effectively in accordance with their role as a leader and facilitator in the classroom. Giving explanations, asking questions and listening are three effective communication techniques that should be owned by the teacher during this 2013 curriculum. If all three techniques have been mastered and can be implemented correctly then the target of Curriculum 2013 can be achieved.

The article deals with the design of virtual reality (VR) interactive training as a teaching method and its effect on knowledge transfer and retention of students. The first part presents the methodology of the VR interactive training design. The second part utilizes the created interactive training for a case study to evaluate its effect on the teaching process and to examine the potential of VR interactive training as a sustainable teaching method. The study took place at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Žilina. Volunteers were divided into two groups. The first group used VR interactive training as a teaching method, while the second group used the conventional method. Both groups then underwent tests. The main goal was to evaluate the effect of the VR interactive training on the teaching process in comparison to the conventional method while trying to identify the key elements of the VR interactive training design and its influence on knowledge transfer and retention in a sustainable learning environment. At the start of the case study, four hypotheses were formed, questioning the effect of interactive training on knowledge transfer and retention in the long and short term, and its overall influence on the teaching process. Obtained data were then used to evaluate these hypotheses.

AbstractAccording to Habermas's discourse theory, communicative actions justified through validity claim can build a common understanding and social collaboration. Mediation is one form of dispute resolution through a negotiation process to obtain a mutual agreement facilitated by a neutral third party oriented to common interests by maintaining good relations between the parties in the future. Communication techniques such as listening actively, asking questions, and reframing statements are important skills that mediators must possess. This conceptual paper analyzes the interaction between Habermas's discourse theory and the concept of mediation. Habermas's discourse theory can be a basic framework of analysis for mediators to predict the creation of consensus, identify statements based on validity claims, and search for common understanding options.

Lectures are a commonly used teaching method in higher education, but there is significant debate about the relative merits of different classroom practices. Various classroom observation tools have been developed to try to give insight into these practices, beyond the simple dichotomy of “traditional lecturing versus active learning”. Here we review of a selection of classroom observation protocols from an ethological perspective, and describe how this informed the development of a new protocol, FILL+. We demonstrate that FILL+ can be applied reliably by undergraduate students after minimal training. We analysed a sample of 208 lecture recordings from Mathematics, Physics, and Veterinary Medicine and found a wide variety of classroom practices, e.g. on average lecturers spent 2.1% (±2.6%) of the time asking questions, and 79.3% (±19%) of the lecture talking, but individuals varied considerably. The FILL+ protocol has the potential to be widely used, both in research on effective teaching practices, and in informing discussion of pedagogical approaches within institutions and disciplines.

The subject of this research is the legal framework for scientific-technological and industrial cooperation of the EAEU member-states in the area of remote sensing of the Earth, reflected in the provisions of international agreements and acts of the Union bodies. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of the legal nature of the EAEU transnational program for the creation of an integrated remote sensing system, characterized by the author as a promising organizational legal instrument for cooperation and integration. Special attention is given to the factors of its successful implementation. The research is conducted in the context of theoretical and practical aspects of strategic integration of the EAEU in the space sector. The novelty consists in substantiation of the fact that in the conditions of specific state of legal regulation of cooperation of the EAEU member-states in the space sector, the leading role in the mid-term perspective would be played by program control. In turn, it would contribute to the systematic development of general, as well as special legal framework for cooperation in the space sector. The author’s main contribution consists in pursuing correlation between the system of legal and program framework for cooperation in the area of remote sensing of the Earth and the legal model of EAEU, as well as the legal model of scientific-technological and industrial integration.

The purpose of this research was to determine the level of communication ability of student in class X SMA PGRI Pekanbaru, through the implementation of the Student Facilitator and Explaining model on the material of momentum and impulses. This research was conducted in class X IPA of SMA PGRI Pekanbaru in 2019, amounting to 29 students, where male students numbered 14 people while female students numbered 15 people. The research design uses a type of pre-experimental design in the form of one shot case study. The research instrument used observation sheets for oral communication ability and assessment sheets for worksheet (LKS) reports for written communication. The results of the research were obtained based on indicators of verbal communication ability which include expressing information and ideas, giving attention when others are talking, responding, and asking questions, students have the communication ability with high categories. Furthermore, students' written communication ability for each meeting have increased with an average of each indicator which includes the accuracy of the answers and the quality of writing is categorized very high. Thus it was concluded that the communication ability of students in oral and written form in class X SMA PGRI Pekanbaru can be trained to be better through the application of cooperative learning models of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) types on momentum and impulse material.

This study proposes some of the elements of competencies that university students must have for coping with life in a society of the future. Furthermore, it proposes a particular teaching method to effectively strengthen these future competencies. In order to carry out this research, a review of previous studies, as well as an analysis of pertinent literature, were conducted in order to ascertain the competencies in question. In addition, three Delphi surveys were conducted by 10 experts in each major field involved. The results showed that future university students would require the following competencies: creativity and personality competency (problem solving ability, curiosity, a challenging spirit, cognitive flexibility, responsibility, leadership, etc.), a common good competency (common good sensitivity, inclusiveness, empathy and communication ability, etc.), and convergence competency (humanities literacy, engineering literacy, aesthetic literacy, etc.), and digital technology application competency (digital literacy, big data utilization, computing thinking, etc.). The results of this study can be used to develop a plan for the advancement of university education-one that meets the various needs of students living in any given future society. Moreover, it can also provide some ideas for the development of educational content by applying certain future competencies and future teaching methods.

The objective of this cross-sectional study was to analyze therapeutic communication techniques used by health workers with patients under care for diabetes mellitus. Data were collected in 2010 in a public facility in the interior of Ceará, Brazil using video camera equipment and direct observation. Results showed that the most frequently used techniques within the "expression" group were: asking questions, voicing interest, and using descriptive phrases. The most frequently used technique within the "clarification" group was: asking the patient to specify the agent of action. Finally, in regard to the "validation" group, only the technique "summarizing content of the interaction" was employed. The conclusion is that despite the use of communication techniques on the part of professionals, there is still an alarming gap concerning communication skills. Such skills should be allied with technical expertise to enable the delivery of qualified care to individuals with diabetes mellitus.

Brownfield redevelopment has been playing a leading role in urban development in the state of Ohio for some time now. Being one of the most industrialized states in the US, Ohio has been struggling for a long time with numerous consequences of businesses that were shutting down, moving out of Ohio, or restructuring. The State officials have been addressing and taking care of these issues very carefully, and with a lot of concern and attention. Furthermore, the officials have been cooperating on all levels of government, which created a very positive and encouraging environment for successful redevelopment projects. The State has been focusing on comparative advantages of regions, and assisting where the demand is. The State has also been encouraging regional development by providing programs especially designed for ones in need, or valuing projects that propose a regional component/strategy. With establishing public-private partnerships between applicants and the government as the fund provider, a very important way of cooperation is established, and maintained, throughout the funding process. With the evident burden that brown fields impose on all participants in the process of redevelopment, it is sometimes difficult to see the overall benefit of such actions. The crucial role of government?s support has proved to be the key to successful implementation of brown field projects. Enabling continuous flow of funds, establishing intergovernmental relations, along with enabling public-private partnerships, and tightly linking the participants in the process of redevelopment resulted in successfully completed projects, which brought new life and brighter perspective to communities that haven?t been able to struggle through this complex process on their own.

This experimental research focuses on improving Junior High School students’ mathematical communication ability through the implementation of teaching math using reciprocal teaching method. The low level of students’ mathematical communication ability has been one of the underpinning reasons why this research was carried out in the first place. The aim of this research is to investigate students who are taught using reciprocal teaching methods show better improvement on their mathematical communication ability compared to those who are taught using conventional methods. In addition to that, this research is also interested in understanding students’ attitudes towards learning math using reciprocal teaching method. The research population is all students of SMP Negeri 4 Cimahi, grade VII. The treated group is from class VII B while the controlled group is from class VII H. Both of the groups were chosen randomly. Based on this analysis, it could be concluded that 1) students’ who were taught using reciprocal teaching method showed higher improvement on their mathematical communication ability compared to students who were taught using conventional methods, and 2) almost all students demonstrated positive attitudes towards learning math when they were taught using reciprocal teaching method.
