<p>Appropriate complementary feeding practices must be sustained during the COVID-19 pandemic for optimal growth and development of a child. However, the studies assessing factors associated with complementary feeding practices during COVID-19 are still limited. The objective of this study was to evaluate maternal attributes and minimum acceptable diet (MAD) of 6-11-month-old children during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This study was part of the “COVID-19 Mom-Infant Study” and was conducted in all regions of Indonesia using an online survey. Chi-square or Fisher's exact test was performed to examine the relationship between MAD and maternal attributes, with a significant level at p-value &lt;0.05. From a total of 262 data collected, 74%, 77.1%, 94.3% of the children aged 6-11 months have met MAD, MDD (minimum dietary diversity), and MMF (minimum meal frequency), respectively. Mother’s education level (OR= 3.625; 95%CI [1.805 – 7.280]) and working status (OR= 2.197; 95%CI [1.291 – 3.895] were found associated with child’s MAD. One-third of children did not receive the recommended infant and young children feeding practices. Conducting nutrition interventions to mothers with lower education and not working should be a priority under these circumstances.</p>

AbstractBackground: In 2017, the prevalence of malnutrition in Indonesia was ranked 4­th among Southeast Asia countries. The nonoptimal complementary feeding is one of the reasons. The nonoptimal complementary feeding is associated with the prevalence of underweight and stunting in the children at the age 6-23 months. Complementary feeding pattern include frequency and dietary diversity. This study aims to investigate the relationship between complementary feeding pattern and nutritional status of infants at the age 7-12 months in the Kedungwaru Health Center, Tulungagung. Methods: This study used observational analytic and cross-sectional study design. The sample consisted of 71 mothers of the infants which were taken by total sampling. The variables of this study were complementary feeding pattern and nutritional status. This study also used a questionnaire and observation sheet. The Fisher Exact Test was used to analyse the data. Result: The results showed 88.7% of the infants have good nutritional status. There are 49.3% appropriate complementary feeding and 69% which applied various types of complementary feeding. The frequency of complementary feeding with the nutritional status of infants obtained p value 0.478 and the dietary diversity of complementary feeding with nutritional status obtained p value 0.102. Conclusions: There were no significant relation between the complementary feeding pattern and the nutritional status (weight-for-age) in infants at the age 7-12 months. Further research about other variables is needed.

Abstract: Commercial Sex Workers, Knowledge, HIV-AIDS Prevention Efforts. The number of HIV-AIDS sufferers in Indonesia continues to increase and most productive attacking a young age. The study design was observational analytic, using a cross-sectional approach in which to make observations and measurements only once when the measurement variables were analyzed with the model Kai squared test (Chi-Square) to analyze the relationship between one or more independent variables with the dependent variable category. The result of statistical test analysis Fisher's exact Test the relationship between knowledge of HIV-AIDS prevention efforts gained value P-Value: 0.005> 0.001. An appropriate diet is critical in the growth and development of children especially in the first two years of life. Poor complementary feeding of children aged 6 months - 23 months contributes to the characteristics negative growth trends and deaths observed in developing countries. Therefore, this study aimed to assess determinants and current level of optimal complementary feeding practices among mothers of children aged 6 months to 23 months in Ambo town, Oromia Region. The study used cross sectional study design and targeted 336 mothers with children 6 months - 23 months olds. Information from the respondents were collected using standard questionnaire. Data entry and analysis was done using SPSS version 21.0 windows statistical software. All (100%) the children 6 months - 8 months old had received solid, semi-solid/soft foods. The minimum meal frequency was attained by 88.3% (95% CI 84.3-91.4) whereas the minimum dietary diversity was attained by 17.9% (95% CI 14.1-22.5). The minimum acceptable diet was attained by 15.4% (95% CI 11.9-19.8). Maternal knowledge on: importance of breastfeeding (87.3%); age of introduction of complementary foods (85.4%) and correct meal frequency for age (74.5%) was high. On the contrary, knowledge on the importance of enriching complementary foods (34.5%) was low. Mothers who knew the importance of a diverse diet were likely (chi-square test; p=0.001) to feed their children on a diverse diet. On the other hand, mothers who knew the importance of enriching complementary foods were likely to feed their children on a minimum acceptable diet (chi-square test; p = 0.007) and maternal knowledge on enriching complementary foods (OR = 3.41, p = 0.040) were significant predictors of consumption of Vitamin A rich foods, minimum meal frequency and minimum acceptable diet, respectively. Behaviour change and communication involving all the stakeholders in infant and young child feeding should be emphasized. Messages on appropriate feeding practices should include importance of dietary diversity

Abstract: Caries is the presence of a cavity on the tooth caused by the activity of microorganism on fermented carbohydrate. Nutritional status is resulting from food consumption, which is one of the factors that influence the occurence of dental caries. This study was aimed to obtain the relationship between nutritional status and caries in permanent lower first molar among students of SDN 36 (elementary school) Manado. This was an analytical study using a cross sectional design. There were 48 students at SDN 36 Manado aged 6-8 years in this study obtained by using total sampling technique. We used the nutritional status based on length-for-age and BMI-for-age using the z-scores WHO anthropometrical standards for children aged 5-18 years and examined the oral cavity whether there was caries in permanent lower first molars. The results showed that caries in permanent lower first molars was found in 77.1% of subjects. Nutritional status based on length-for-age showed normal category (83.3%) and short stature/stunted (16.7%). The nutritional status based on BMI-for-age showed obese category (22.9%), overweight (8.3%), normal (60.5%), wasted (8.3%), and severely wasted (0.0%). The Fisher’s Exact test and the Chi-Square test showed that the relationship between length-for-age and the occurence of caries had a p-value of 1,000 meanwhile the relationship between nutritional status based on BMI-for-age and the occurence of caries had a p-value of 0.024. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between nutritional status based on BMI-for-age and caries in the permanent lower first molars in children aged 6-8 years at SDN 36 Manado.Keywords: dental caries, permanent lower first molar, nutritional status Abstrak: Karies adalah adanya rongga pada yang disebabkan oleh aktivitas jasad renik terhadap karbohidrat yang dapat diragikan. Status gizi merupakan keadaan tubuh sebagai akibat konsumsi makanan, yang menjadi salah satu faktor yang dapat memengaruhi proses terjadinya karies gigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi dengan karies gigi molar pertama bawah permanen pada anak usia 6-8 tahun di SDN 36 Manado. Jenis penelitian ialah analitik dengan desain potong lintang. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling terhadap seluruh siswa di SDN 36 Manado berusia 6-8 tahun pada tahun 2019 yang berjumlah 48 orang. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengukuran status gizi TB/U dan IMT/U berdasarkan SD dengan standar baku antropometri WHO untuk anak usia 5-18 tahun serta pemeriksaan rongga mulut untuk melihat ada tidaknya karies pada gigi molar pertama bawah permanen. Hasil pemeriksaan menunjukkan terdapatnya karies pada gigi molar pertama bawah permanen sebesar 77,1% subyek. Status gizi berdasarkan TB/U didapatkan subyek kategori normal (83,3%) dan pendek/stunted (16,7%). Status gizi berdasarkan IMT/U didapatkan kategori obesitas (22,9%), gemuk (8,3%), normal (60,5%), kurus (8,3%), serta sangat kurus (0,0%). Hasil uji Fisher’s Exact dan uji Chi-Square menunjukkan untuk TB/U nilai p=1,000 sedangkan untuk IMT/U nilai p=0,024. Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara status gizi berdasarkan IMT/U dengan karies gigi molar pertama bawah permanen pada anak usia 6-8 tahun di SDN 36 Manado.Kata kunci: karies gigi, molar pertama bawah permanen, status gizi

AbstrakMakanan pendamping ASI (MP-ASI) adalah makanan padat yang mengandung nutrien lengkap yang diberikan kepada bayi mulai usia 6 bulan disamping ASI eksklusif untuk mencapai tumbuh kembang yang optimal. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara usia pemberian MP-ASI dan jenis MP-ASI dengan status gizi. Penelitian ini merupakan studi cross sectional yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei-November 2012 pada anak usia 1-3 tahun yang berdomisili di Kota Padang. Pengumpulan data karakteristik responden, usia pemberian MP-ASI, dan jenis MP-ASI dilakukan dengan wawancara terpimpin. Pengukuran status gizi dilakukan berdasarkan BB/TB Z-score. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukan dari 200 anak, 51% anak diberi diberi MP-ASI sesuai jadwal dengan jenis MP-ASI buatan pabrik. Status gizi kurang, lebih banyak didapatkan pada anak yang diberi MP-ASI dini (33%). Tidak ditemukan anak dengan status gizi buruk.Terdapat hubungan antara usia pemberian MP-ASI dengan status gizi p= 0,001 (P < 0,05) dan tidak ada hubungan antara jenis MP-ASI dengan status gizi p= 0,456 (p > 0,05).Kata kunci: MP-ASI, Status gizi, Anak usia 1-3 tahunAbstractComplementary feeding is a solid and nutrient dense foods that contain complete given to infants from 6 months of age are exclusively breastfed in addition to achieve optimal growth and development. The research objective was to determine the relationship between the age of complementary feeding and provision of complementary feeding types with nutritional status. This study is a cross-sectional study that was conducted in May-November 2012 on children aged 1-3 years who live in Padang. The characteristics of the respondents, aged giving complementary feeding, and the type of complementary feeding by the guided interview. Measurement of nutritional status is based on weight / height Z-score.The statistical analysis used was chi square test. The results showed that of 200 children, 51% children were given complementary feeding schedule. The type was given is complementary feeding of factory. Nutritional status is much less than was found in children who were given complementary feeding early (33%). There are no children with poor nutritional status. There is a significant association between age of Complementary feeding with nutritional status p = 0.001 (P < 0.05) and there was no significant association between the type of Complementary feeding with nutritional status p = 0.456 (p >0.05).Keywords:Complementary feeding, nutritional status, children aged 1-3 years

Abstract Objectives The Vakinankaratra region of Madagascar has the highest stunting rates of the country, yet it is one of most agriculturally productive regions. The purpose of this study was to assess maternal complementary feeding practices and their association with child growth. Methods Data from a cross-sectional study of 391 mothers and their infants aged 6–23 months were analyzed. The WHO infant and young child feeding (IYCF) indicators were used to assess complementary feeding practices. A questionnaire for collection of sociodemographic information and 24-hour dietary recall was translated and pre-tested before data collection. Child length and weight were converted to length-for-age (LAZ), weight-for-age (WAZ), and weight-for-length (WLZ) using the 2006 WHO Growth Standards. Linear regression models were conducted while adjusting for survey design and confounding variables. Results Stunting (69.4%) and undernutrition (23.4%) rates were very high. The proportion of children achieving minimum dietary diversity (35.8%), minimum acceptable diet (30.2%) and consuming flesh foods (14.1%) were low. Higher dietary diversity score was associated with increased LAZ [β = 0.2, P &lt; 0.05, R2 = 0.16] in 9–11 months infants only. Consuming flesh foods was associated only with higher WAZ [β = 0.41, P &lt; 0.01, R,2 = 0.10]. None of the indicators were associated with WLZ. Conclusions Complementary feeding practices were suboptimal in the Vakinankaratra region. Although crucial for optimal growth, improving feeding practices alone may not be sufficient to reduce the high prevalence of child undernutrition in the region. Abstract Background Introducing appropriate complementary feeding at sixth months of age is crucial for the optimal growth and development of an infant. The aim of this study is to investigate the trends and determinants of complementary feeding practices in Ethiopia from 2005 to 2016. Methods The study was conducted using the Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) data for 2005 (N = 2520), 2011 (N = 2850), and 2016 (N = 2864). Multivariate logistic regression was used to examine the association between socioeconomic, demographic, health service and community-level factors and (i) the introduction of complementary foods, (ii) minimum dietary diversity (MDD), (iii) minimum meal frequency (MMF) and (iv) minimum acceptable diet (MAD). Results The proportion of mothers who met MDD increased from 6.3% to 13.5% and MAD increased from 4.1% to 7.1% from 2005 to 2016. Improvements in the introduction of complementary foods (from 50.3% to 59.5%), and MMF (from 41.3% to 43.6%) were not statistically significant. Maternal education and occupation were associated with the introduction of complementary foods, MDD, MMF and MAD. Higher partner education and frequent antenatal visits were associated with MDD and MAD. Children whose mothers listened to the radio had higher odds of MDD, MMF, and MAD. Conclusions Interventions aiming to improve complementary feeding practices in Ethiopia should also target mothers with low education, antenatal service usage and media exposure Key messages The study showed that there were improvements in the proportion MDD and MAD.

This study aimed to investigate complementary feeding practices during children's first year of life in Botucatu, SP, Brazil. Practices were described according to the age range and the breastfeeding (BF) practice. Data were collected during a multi-vaccination campaign through the interview of 1,238 individuals who accompanied children younger than one year old being vaccinated. Differences associated with the BF situation were identified by the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The early introduction of complementary food was observed, which led to the low frequency of exclusive breastfeeding (36.9% <4 months). Children younger than 4 months old consumed tea (30.7%); children between 4 and 6 months old consumed fruits (54.1%), soups (39.9%) and home-made food (19.2%). Juice was offered only to 15.2% of children younger than 4 months old who were completed weaned, 60% of the children was offered water. Data show that the consistence of the food consumed was inappropriate: children between 6 and 8 months old were offered the family's regular food (48.8%) and children older than 8 months (71.6%) were offered soup. Therefore, interventions focused on complementary feeding are justified on the city.

Background: Inappropriate complementary feeding practices in children may lead to adverse consequences ranging from growth failure to mortality. Intervention programs intending to optimize the practices should be based on identification of the lacunae and on the assessment of the magnitude of the problem. Aim: The aim of the study was to determine appropriateness and adequacy of complementary feeding given to children aged 6?23 months. Materials and Methods: Data regarding demographic profile, maternal education, source of information for feeding, and details of complementary feeding provided in the last 24 h were obtained from caregivers, using the standard WHO questionnaire. Chi-square test was used for determining the association between optimal feeding practices and continued breastfeeding, age-group, maternal education, and source of information. Results: The study enrolled 480 children (mean age: 12.9+5.1 month; male: female=1.22:1). 225 children (46.87%) had minimum meal frequency and 66 (13.8%) had minimum dietary diversity, 41 (11.08%) were receiving minimum acceptable diet. Only 103 mothers (21.5%) obtained the information regarding recommended complementary feeding practices from health professionals. There was a significant association between health professional being the source of information and presence of adequate dietary diversity (p<0.01) and minimum acceptable diet (p<0.01). Conclusion: Complimentary feeding practices are inadequate and thus, require an intervention of healthcare providers with better involvement.

There are about 2.8 million incident of perineal rupture in maternal physiological labor. In 2050,it is estimated that the incidence of perineal rupture can be 6.3 million if it is not accompanied by a good midwifery care. In 2016, in Trawas, there was (89%) perineal rupture in primiparas and (57%) perineal rupture in multiparas. Perineal rupture incidences due to parity were still very high. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal rupture . It is quantitative studyusing a cross sectional approach, by using analysis of physiological maternity women  medical record data from January to April 2017 of 130 peoplein Trawas Public Health Center, Mojokerto Regency.The dataanalysis used was Chi - Square , indicated by p value = 0,000 with ɑ = 0,05. It means that the value of p <ɑ, so H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal rupture on physiological maternity women in Trawas Public Health Center,Mojokerto Regency. Midwives can apply collaboration with patients and their families to have physical and psychologicalpreparation with an alternative of hypnobirthing methods.
