Emotional dysregulation in early childhood has shown various early symptoms, such as aggressiveness, anxiety, short attention span, etc. This study aims to determine the effects of family cohesion, interpersonal communication, and smartphone addiction variables on children's emotional dysregulation. The respondents of this study were 338 students’ parents from Cirebon City, Indonesia. Data were collected by means of online questionnaires distributed individually to each kindergarten selected using proportionate cluster random sampling. The results of this study show that two variables, namely family cohesion (p = .031) and interpersonal communication (p = .016) have negative direct effects on children's emotional dysregulation. Meanwhile, smartphone addiction (p = .000) directly affects children's emotional dysregulation. From the results, it is assumed that children's emotional dysregulation will decrease when there is a focus on improving the quality of family cohesion and on decreasing the level of smartphone addiction. Besides, the government, schools, and parents should concern about and implement a policy to keep on monitoring children when using smartphones and developing positive and harmonious family cohesion.

Many factors contribute to the success of students’ academic performance. Admittedly, quality of teaching is one of those factors. In this study, based on the related literature on teacher motivation, six main factors affecting teachers’ motivation towards teaching are identified. Accordingly, an online questionnaire was designed by the authors. In total, 207 (40 males and 167 females) mathematics teachers from primary, secondary and sixth-form government schools in Brunei Darussalam randomly volunteered to respond to this questionnaire. The findings from this study have implications for understanding the extent to which factors may motivate or demotivate teachers to teach. The present research provided education stakeholders with important information to ponder over the motivational factors of mathematics teachers in the government schools. The application of literacy is very important to be applied especially in learning Indonesian. Literacy can help students not only in learning but also in finding solutions to problems. The application of literacy in schools needs to get support from all parties, including the government, schools, parents (families), and most importantly the individual students. Indonesian Language learning is actually one of the most appropriate subjects for applying literacy. If literacy is applied in learning Indonesian, the level of student understanding will get better and that will also affect the learning outcomes. Not only in learning Indonesian, Indonesian is only one of the subjects that can be used in literacy. If students' learning outcomes and understanding are good, automatically the quality and also the quality of education gets better. Literacy is not the only way that can be taken in improving the quality of learning, but can be one good alternative to improve the quality and quality of education.

Education is the most powerful instrument to change the society. The welfare and economic progress of a country depends on the quality of education because education refers to the development of human skill and knowledge of the people or labor force and education is called human capital. Different education policies during the post independent period focused primarily to improve the enrolment in the primary school in India. In order to access all children up to 14 years of age the different National Education Policies gave priority to universialization of elementary education program on different times and many initiatives like Operation Black Board, Mid-day Meal, Sarvashiksha Abhijan (SSA) and Right to Education Act. Uttar Dinajpur district is not an exception. Literacy and education of the district shows dismal picture and according to census report 2011the district has the lowest rank in the state. The district is an economically and educationally back ward district. The present paper is an attempt to study the enrolment trend at the elementary level in the government school and private schools in Uttar Dinajpur during the period 2012-13 to 2016-17 and enquiry into the problems relating to the learning outcomes of the children at the elementary level in government schools of the district. The empirical findings point out many problems such as poor academic performances of the students, wastage of teaching time on mid-day meal related works, irregular attendance of the teachers in the school, teacher-guardian meet, guardians choice regarding admission of their children , lack of parents awareness and use of mobile phone in the class room.

This study aims to explore Bayesian multilevel modeling to investigate variations of average academic achievement of grade eight school students. A sample of 636 students is randomly selected from 26 private and government schools by a two-stage stratified sampling design. Bayesian method is used to estimate the fixed and random effects. Input and process quality indicators of education such as student to class ratio, student to teacher ratio, availability of teaching learning resources at school, teaching methods, and standard of course curriculum are found to be significantly affecting the academic achievement of the students. The effects of student level covariates: absence from class, academic motivation, academic self concept, study time, family income, mother’s education, parents’ employment status, work demand at home, and parent’s follow-up of child are significantly varying from school to school. The results show that a large proportion of academic achievement variation is accounted to between schools. It is interesting to found out that the within school variation is very high for government schools while the between school variation is very high for private schools. There is uniformity across the government schools with high individual differences among students. However, there is lesser uniformity across the private schools with lesser individual differences of students. The findings in this study indicate that private schools are in a better position in maintaining quality of education at grade eight. Efficient academic management is needed at the government schools that can improve quality of education at the level.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the factors responsible for phubbing (PHU) from technological and psychological aspects. Design/methodology/approach From the literature review, some hypotheses have been formulated and a conceptual model has been developed. The model has been validated and the hypotheses have been tested by a statistical approach using a survey with involvement of 302 useable responses. The responses have been quantified and thereafter detailed statistical analysis has been adopted to verify the conceptual model and the hypotheses. Findings Smartphone addiction (SPA) is the principle component that is responsible for PHU, which is also the goal of the study. Research limitations/implications The study highlights that unless SPA behavior of individuals is reduced; it is not possible to control PHU behavior. For restricting SPA, self-control of the users of smartphone is necessary. Besides, imposition of appropriate rules and regulations can check the menace of SPA that in turn would control PHU. Practical implications Practitioners are to arrange to reduce SPA of people. The users are to be made known regarding the dark sides of SPA responsible for PHU. Besides, practitioners should conduct awareness programs to keep the users apprised regarding menace of SPA and PHU. Practitioners should arrange to execute consistently regulatory restrictions to control SPA. This would also be able to control individuals to exhibit PHU behavior. Social implications PHU inhibits quality of interpersonal communication. It lowers the esteem and exhibits negative relationship satisfaction among the interacting parties. PHU creates ostracism. Identification of factors responsible for PHU would help to provide a solution to check PHU. Originality/value Not much research on this issue is known to have taken place. In this regard, this attempt should be deemed to be a novel attempt.
