In general, aggregates consist of Natural Aggregates (NA) and Artificial Aggregates (AA). Artificial aggregates, such as Crushed Stone (CS), are aggregates produced through the crusher industry which has a rough and angular surface so that it has excellent adhesion to asphalt. Meanwhile, NA is an aggregate produced from a river which has a smooth and large hollow surface texture. The cost for AA is very expensive when compared to NA, so it is necessary to experiment with mixing NA and AA to minimize the use of AA. NA are obtained from Sungai Jalin, Jantho City District, Aceh Besar District. The method used refers to the specification of Bina Marga 2010 Revision four (2018) and the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The purpose of this study was to see the effect of the combination of NA and AA as a substitute for coarse aggregate on the AC-WC concrete asphalt layer. The specimens used were 66 specimens with substitution of NA and AA into the asphalt layer were 0% NA: 100% AA, 25% NA: 75% AA, 50% NA: 50% AA, 75% NA: 25% AA, 100% NA : 0% AA. Based on the research results, the best value for the optimum marshall parameter is the substitution of 25% AA: 75% BP at asphalt content of 5.00%, the stability value is 1492.37kg with a VIM value of 3.69%, VMA 16.17%, VFA 77.88% and MQ 573.87kg / mm which have met the requirements of the 2010 Revision four (2018) Bina Marga specification.

The increasing number of vehicles but not followed by increasing the quality of pavement will cause many roads to be damaged. One of the efforts to improve the quality of road pavement is by adding various additional ingredients. For this research the method of mixing asphalt with carbon fiber uses the Dry-Mix method, where carbon fiber is directly mixed when cooking asphalt. By using a variation of 0,1%; 0,2%; 0,3% and 0,4% carbon fiber, and with asphalt content of 5,7%. After obtaining asphalt mixture data, the research continued to determine the optimum carbon fiber content using the narrow range method. Then proceed to change the stability of Marshall into modulus then included in the KENPAVE program. Then the test results can be seen in the Nd and Nf values and the Nr value requirement of <2, which values are based on General Specifications of the Directorate General of Highways 2017 Edition. The results of this study have met all the requirements that have been set and based on the value of Nd and Nf it can be concluded that the use of carbon fiber asphalt mixture additives can be used in an effort to reduce the cost of asphalt treatment.ABSTRAKPeningkatan jumlah kendaraan namun tidak diikuti dengan peningkatan kualitas perkerasan jalan akan menyebabkan banyak jalan yang mengalami kerusakan. The availability of natural aggregate is getting limited, therefore it is required new alternative materials to substitute natural aggregates. Within this experiment reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) was used as masonry block with waste cooking oil as the binder. The objective of this experiment was to analyze the RAP asphalt content and aggregate gradation; and the samples characteristics particularly the compressive strength of masonry block minimum of 25 kg/cm2 that meet the Indonesian national standard SNI-03-0348-1989. The asphalt content of the RAP was initially extracted and tested for its aggregate gradation and specific gravity. The RAP was added 20% sand and a certain amount of waste cooking oil and evenly mixed. After that the mixture was compacted in a mould with a Marshall hummer, with compaction cycles for 15, 25, and 35 times where each cycle consists of 3 even blows. The size of the compacted samples were 20x10x8cm. After the samples were taken out from the mould, they were heated in an oven for 12 and 24 hours at 160°C and 200°C. It was found that the minimum waste cooking oil content required 4%. The best compressive strength was found on samples compacted at 15 compaction cycles and heated at 200°C for 24 hours. The un-soaked compressive strength was 80.5 kg/cm2 and 68.67 kg/cm2 for the soaked samples. In general the compressive strength well met the minimum 25 kg/cm2. Other best characteristics was found on samples heated at 160°C for 12 hours, with lowest water absorption of 5.64% and porosity of 4.53%. The Initial Rate of Suction (IRS) was 0,25~0,45 kg/m2.minute.

Concrete consists of many kinds of raw materials, the safety and quality of construction are greatly influenced by the stability of concrete. Thus, how to improve the performance of concrete and construction method, i.e. avoid the bleeding, segregation and honeycomb, etc, becomes a very important issue and imminent mission. This study discusses the different mixing designs of SCC with the amounts of cementitious materials ( OPC, GGBFS, and FA) ranged from 400 - 500 kg/m3. Meanwhile, the fresh and hardened properties of SCC, such as the slump flow, setting time, heat of hydration, and compressive strength were also determined. Test results indicate SCC binding materials can be classified by its compacting ratio. For instance, to pass the boxing test of R1/R2 within and without hindrance, the minimum binding materials should be 500kg/m3, 450kg/m3 and 400kg/m3. The optimum binding materials research shows if use cement, GGBFS and FA at the same time , it can increase the initial and final setting time and decrease the heat of hydration. The SCC binding materials’ concept will meet the requirement of " Safety, Durability, Workability and Ecology " for the new era. Thus, the amount of cement was at least 250kg/m3 or more for SCC mix design and the adding of GGBFS and FA was recommended to maintain 20 - 40 % of all cementitious materials based on the test results.

Road constructing in Ethiopia is increasingly in demand to meet its medium and long term development programs. Most internal road of Oromia cities/town are cobblestone and gravel. Some portions along the alignment proposed and existing roads traversed low resistance of the subgrade that affect the stability of upper layers of cobblestones.  Structural failures are observed on cobblestones roads, would it be constructed by good quality or low quality of materials. Nekemte Cobblestones Projects have been started in 2014 widely which were failed in most area today as we observed that needs to be addressed and a corresponding remedial measures must be drawn. A possible remedial measures had been organized for every observed  failure  or  destroyed  to  obtain  normal  road  condition  of  the study  area. An assessment was made by using observation, interviews, laboratory and field test to determine the adequacy of the cobblestones, underlain material to serve as a subgrade for road construction based on project specifications and Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) low volume road Specification. From the field tests and laboratory tests carried out, it is observed that the causes of cobblestone road failures of this road section are mainly due to the construction steps/sequence, quality of materials, road construction time, lack of proper design and quality control, absences of drainage structures, lack of highly compaction, lack of accurately fill fine aggregate and suddenly high loads vehicle applied on cobblestone road.

Abstract. Porous asphalt is an alternative in flexible pavement which is considered to make water seep into the soil. In previous research have been tested the mixture of  porous asphalt that meets porous asphalt porosity requirements, but found the weaknesses that the stability is still lower than the standard required. Based on result obtained before, the study is aimed at investigating the use of mixture composition variable with different percentages until the optimal conditions were obtained, namely making a normal mixture, 15%, 18.75%, 22.5%, 26.25%, 30% as sand composition reduction. The percentage of sand reducted from previous composition with different asphalt variations. Tests are carried out using the Marshall method. Sequence of tests show that the materials used for experiment meet the requirement.  Optimum Asphalt Content obtained for the mixture are 6% of the total mixed weight. The best Marshall characteristics for AC-WC porous asphalt obtained are at the percentage of 26.25% sand reduction.
