The Polish government conducts program works on the development of the E40 waterway along the Vistula and the Bug in accordance with the European Agreement on the main inland waterways of international importance (AGN). In light of the current investment practice, there is still a long way to go for the implementation of the E40 waterway in Mazovia, while the current findings of these programs and related study plans are at many points controversial. In this situation, this article aims to identify the weaknesses of these findings, indicate other ways to solve the already embarrassing decision-making situations (dilemmas), analyze and evaluate basic decision-making alternatives, and choose optimal solutions for Mazovia. The author has identified the following basic decision dilemmas: (0) Does a waterway network in Mazovia exist or not? (1) Whether to build this network or not? (2) Whether to reject the AGN Agreement or not? (3) Whether to build a network in full or limited spatial extent? (4) Whether to build following AGN or lower waterwaytechnical classes? (5) Whether to build against ecologists or in harmony with them? As a result of detailed analyzes and assessments, the author chose to solve these dilemmas, assuming (0) the lack of the waterway network in its current state, (1) undertaking the investment program for the construction of this network as satisfying the potential undisclosed demand in the field of water transport, (2) not rejecting the AGN Agreement as consistent with the long-term EU transport policy, (3) building the waterway network in the full spatial scope, (4) constructing a complete network in one step, i.e. at least Vb (2,80 m) class, as well as (5) creatingthis waterway network in agreement with ecologists. When adopting such design assumptions, a positive plan is outlined, which would involve, first of all, resigning from the existing plans to build the Vistula, Narew and Bug cascades as leading to the obtaining the waterways of undervalued classes IV and Va and to the right protests of ecologists, and secondly replacing the cascade with the construction of side shipping canalsof Vb (2,80 m) class or higher located within the broad valleys of the Vistula and the Narew but outside the most valuable natural areas of these valleys. In relation to the Bug waterway, the author prefers the course of the canal beyond the river valley through Wilga and Garwolin.

The early and long-term development of promising young athletes is a decisive factor in being internationally competitive in top-level sports. Among the multitude of talent criteria suggested in the literature, motivation plays a prominent role in the area of psychological characteristics. It is recognised in practice and research as a relevant criterion for performance development across all sports. This article provides an overview of the current state of talent research in the field of motivation. First, the most common theories of motivation in competitive sports are described, then different measurement methods and their advantages and disadvantages as well as the predictive value of motivation for athletic performance are discussed. Finally, implications for practice are suggested. It can be summarised that motivation in sport is conceptualised and operationalised in different ways and that the decision for the right measurement instrument depends on the goal of the assessment. To get a comprehensive picture of an athlete’s motivational status, it is useful to assess several aspects of motivation through different methods.

Empathy refers to the ability to understand someone else's emotions and fluctuates with the current state in healthy individuals. However, little is known about the neural network of empathy in clinical populations at different pain states. The current study aimed to examine the effects of long-term pain on empathy-related networks and whether empathy varied at different pain states by studying primary dysmenorrhea (PDM) patients. Multivariate partial least squares was employed in 46 PDM women and 46 healthy controls (HC) during periovulatory, luteal, and menstruation phases. We identified neural networks associated with different aspects of empathy in both groups. Part of the obtained empathy-related network in PDM exhibited a similar activity compared with HC, including the right anterior insula and other regions, whereas others have an opposite activity in PDM, including the inferior frontal gyrus and right inferior parietal lobule. These results indicated an abnormal regulation to empathy in PDM. Furthermore, there was no difference in empathy association patterns in PDM between the pain and pain-free states. This study suggested that long-term pain experience may lead to an abnormal function of the brain network for empathy processing that did not vary with the pain or pain-free state across the menstrual cycle.

Following decades of maltreatment of women in obstetric care, professional respect for maternal autonomy in obstetric decision making and care have become codified in global and national professional ethical guidelines. Yet, using the example of birth after cesarean, identifiable threats to maternal autonomy in obstetrics continue. This paper focuses on how current scientific knowledge and obstetric practice patterns factor into restricted maternal autonomy as evidenced in three representative maternal accounts obtained prior and subsequent to birth after cesarean. Short- and long-term remedies to improve the current state of restricted maternal autonomy in clinical practice surrounding decision making on birth after cesarean are provided.

Relevance. Rhabdomyolysis is one of the complications of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, which may cause acute kidney injury (AKI). The reason for the development of rhabdomyolysis in our observation in a patient after suffering COVID-19 in the long-term period was an increased muscle load.Aim of study. Presentation of a case of rhabdomyolysis with AKI in a patient after COVID-19 in the long-term period.Material and methods. In clinical observation, a 25-year-old patient L. is presented, who was being treated in the Department for the Treatment of Acute Endotoxicosis of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine. In 2020, he developed COVID-19, complicated by rhabdomyolysis and AKI in the long term period.Results. Examination revealed an increase in creatinine phosphokinase (CPK) — 106,000.0 U/L, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) — 553.0 U/L, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) — 1582.0 U/L, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) — 2809.0 U/L, levels of serum creatinine 164 μmol/L and myoglobin — 201 ng/ml. Virological research: IgM — 0.27 units per ml; IgG — 7.28 units per ml. 3 Three-phase scintigraphy with 99mTc-pyrfotech revealed signs of necrotic changes in the muscles of the upper half of the back, muscles of the chest (mainly on the right), muscles of the shoulder and upper half of the forearm on both sides. Kidneys: decreased perfusion of the right kidney (relative to the left), moderate slowdown of urodynamics at the level of the calyx-pelvis complex on both sides.Conclusions. The reason for the development of rhabdomyolysis in the long-term period in the patient after suffering from COVID-19 was an increased muscle load. Targeted research and medical history can help identify signs of rhabdomyolysis. The use of the radionuclide diagnostic method makes it possible to identify areas of soft tissue damage with a one-step assessment of renal function in rhabdomyolysis in the acute period of the disease, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment with dynamic observation. When rhabdomyolysis is confirmed, it is necessary to carry out detoxification and infusion therapy, to monitor renal function in order to detect acute kidney injury, and in case of deterioration of renal function and intoxication, renal replacement therapy is indicated.

Abstract Reservoir simulation is a mature technology, and nearly all major reservoir development decisions are based in some way on simulation results. Despite this maturity, the technology is changing rapidly. It is important for both providers and users of reservoir simulation software to understand where this change is leading. This paper takes a long-term view of reservoir simulation, describing where it has been and where it is now. It closes with a prediction of what the reservoir simulation state of the art will be in 2007 and speculation regarding certain aspects of simulation in 2017. Introduction Today, input from reservoir simulation is used in nearly all major reservoir development decisions. This has come about in part through technology improvements that make it easier to simulate reservoirs on one hand and possible to simulate them more realistically on the other; however, although reservoir simulation has come a long way from its beginnings in the 1950's, substantial further improvement is needed, and this is stimulating continual change in how simulation is performed. Given that this change is occurring, both developers and users of simulation have an interest in understanding where it is leading. Obviously, developers of new simulation capabilities need this understanding in order to keep their products relevant and competitive. However, people that use simulation also need this understanding; how else can they be confident that the organizations that provide their simulators are keeping up with advancing technology and moving in the right direction? In order to understand where we are going, it is helpful to know where we have been. Thus, this paper begins with a discussion of historical developments in reservoir simulation. Then it briefly describes the current state of the art in terms of how simulation is performed today. Finally, it closes with some general predictions.

In the present scenario, it is inevitable for organizations to use the services offered through the cloud. As there are numerous cloud service providers, the users have a vast number of choices to get the desired service. For the long term success of any organization, it is important to choose the right cloud service provider. This paper focuses on proposing a new framework to select the best cloud service provider. While selecting the best service provider, using an appropriate method for finding out the weight of each criterion is very important as it directly impacts the ranking of candidate service providers. In this work, the Full Consistency Method (FUCOM) is employed for finding the weight of each criterion and Multi-Objective Optimization by Ratio Analysis (MOORA) is proposed for ranking the service provider. The integration of FUCOM with MOORA results in computing the reliable values of criteria weight and a simpler procedure for computing the overall score of the service provider. Hence a rational decision making is possible in selecting the best cloud service provider.

Healthcare rationing presents multiple problems for the lawmaker. This article examines them through two legislative projects concerning Finnish healthcare and the scope of professional discretion awarded to physicians in priority setting. In attempting to enact norms to steer decision-making in priority setting, the lawmaker has to balance tensions between individual and community rights; for example, relating to legal safeguards, equal access, clinical autonomy, individual need, and transparency. Physicians exercise significant discretion over rationing in a context of rising pressure to contain costs, without support from precise decision-making criteria set in legislation. This raises concerns over the long-term legitimacy of priority setting in Finland. The article argues that legal research should provide analyses of legislative measures and the wider regulatory mix to ensure that priority setting frameworks are compatible with the right to health, and that best practices presented in international priority setting research are operationalized in legislative reforms.

Decision-making to determine the working units for being prioritized to be developed in order to improve fishery monitoring in WPP-711 is imperative. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries should make no mismatch decision-making through long-term calculation and analysis. The problem of determining the priority of working units is a complex problem, thus it is required to find an appropriate method to avoid a missmatch decision. TOPSIS is a decision-making method capable of solving multi-criteria problems. TOPSIS working principle determines the alternative by considering the shortest distance from the positive ideal alternative and furthest from the ideal negative solution. To improve the performance of TOPSIS, this research is integrated with Fuzzy logic with the aim of giving the right numeric value preference. From the test of 11 alternatives of 6 criteria, the priority of development of fishery monitoring in FMA 711 is: Pontianak Working Unit= 0.917, Batam Working Unit = 0.791 Natuna Working Unit = 0.685 and Tanjung Pinang Working Unit = 0.607. Furthermore,  the ranking result will be used as the basis for determining the strategy in increasing the monitoring of WPP-711 to minimize State losses due to the illegal fishing within Indonesia’s WPP-711 Regions.

Today, the issue of economic circularity is certainly not a new concept. It represents an essential issue in any production system since it is an alternative to the current production and consumption model. The importance of the topic is confirmed worldwide. However, there is still a “circularity gap” that can be bridged in the short and medium term, probably with the use of innovative and digital technologies. In fact, many researchers agree that the sustainable future can be achieved in the long term thanks to digital technologies (i.e., IoT, artificial intelligence, quantum computing etc.) which, thanks to their speed of calculation, are able to identify the right solutions at the right time. The challenge, therefore, will be to develop innovative technologies and tools for the efficient use of resources in industries for sustainable production. Thus, the aim of this study is to define the current state of the art and future research developments in this very promising field. To achieve this goal, the integration of a “set” of tools, based on the AHP method and the PRISMA protocol, is proposed. The results aim to be a guideline for decision makers and researchers interested in this topic.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to show the feasibility of blockchain technology to perform as an infrastructure for improving built asset sustainability by providing all the necessary information for better decision making at all the stages of its life cycle. Design/methodology/approach Blockchain technology can be used as a tool to build a reliable and secure decentralized information system to capture and disseminate all the data required for different sustainability assessment models. A model is designed and tested through a synthetic scenario to substantiate the research objective with empirical work. Findings It is shown that blockchain can revolutionize the current state of knowledge for long-term sustainability thinking and provide necessary information in different stages of the life cycle of a built asset. With the proposed decentralized, transparent and comprehensive database using blockchain, the life cycle assessment methods can become much more inclusive and reliable. The new holistic analysis of the built asset sustainability enables better decision making in design, build, operation and demolition of each asset. Originality/value This paper proposes and tests a model for using blockchain as an infrastructure to support built asset sustainability. Practitioners from different backgrounds at different stages of a built asset life cycle can use such a network to make better decisions and better assess the sustainability of their built assets.
