Abstract:Among the Nahua, one does not find a strict equivalent to “violence”. Yet, on the one hand, the idea of an excessive, dangerous force permeates a large set of narratives, mythical (founding violence) and ethnohistorical (aggressions and resistance). On the other hand, violence is quite present in daily life, under multiple forms: thefts, “envy” and witchcraft, domestic violence. In spite of this extension, whose corollary is a “discourse of disgrace”, one cannot speak here of a culture of violence, since our interlocutors devote much energy to overcome it in order to build a personal and familial happiness, however frail they may feel it is.Résumé : Chez les Nahuas, il n’y a pas d’équivalent strict à “violence”.

In the last few years, it has often been said that the current fashion system is outdated, still operating by a twentieth-century model that celebrates the individualism of the 'star designer'. In I- D, Sarah Mower recently stated that for the last twenty years, fashion has been at a cocktail party and has completely lost any connection with the public and daily life. On the one hand, designers and big brands experience the enormous pressure to produce new collections at an ever higher pace, leaving less room for reflection, contemplation, and innovation. On the other hand, there is the continuous race to produce at even lower costs and implement more rapid life cycles, resulting in disastrous consequences for society and the environment.

The adoption of the Act on Prevention of Domestic Violence was driven by the creation of a more effective legal framework for the protection of victims of domestic violence, and, therefore, also by the alignment of the legal system of the Republic of Serbia with international obligations. The main novelties include multi-sectoral cooperation and primarily preventive nature of the law. However, from its very adoption, it has been pointed to its noticeably repressive character, as well as to provisions with potentially harmful impacts. Hence, this paper represents a contribution to the discussion on the importance and scope of the solutions provided for in the Act on Prevention of Domestic Violence. On the one hand, it points to major novelties intended to contribute to a more effective prevention of domestic violence. On the other hand, it questions the constitutionality and appropriateness of some of the legal solutions, arguing that, in particular respects, the lawmaker had to use a wiser and more subtle approach to conceptualising the provisions of this law.

Metaphors are handy tools. They help describe and explain a complex and abstract “thing” by referring to something else. Metaphors, however, are not neutral or innocent instruments to convey information: they can be stigmatizing, entail harmful mystification, and evoke ethical problems. Thus, metaphors operate between two poles: on the one hand, they are the result of an endeavor to narrow down and render more precise, and, on the other hand, they unfold ambiguous meanings and harbor a potential for multiple forms of engagement. The chapter presents two approaches to metaphors: one based in cognitive metaphor theory and the other informed by narrative theory. The chapter specifies concrete methods that help identify, understand, and contextualize metaphors. It will also present examples of how metaphors can be used as powerful resources by caregivers, patients, and researchers to better understand the complexities involved in dealing with health and illness.

The test of association of words and ideas proposed by Kent and Rosanoff, may be designed as a creative technique to study the mental operations selected by a population. This test has been carried out with two groups of Greek pupils in order to study the gap of the interpretations proposed from the term "watch", an object that is not found only in school, but that reminds to the rhythm of school life and by extension, to the employment of time regulating daily life. The test of association of words and ideas is of interest if one examines, on the one hand, the total of connotations produced by the students and if one compares, on the other hand, the statements of the two groups in relation to their level of studies and to their ability to combine unexpected ideas. The study of connotation for the study of the mechanism of the association of words and ideas from the inducing object of the watch can be used to draw conclusions on the type of mental operations carried out by the two groups of participants in distinguished social and personal areas. Finally, the scope of the interpretation of the inducing object suggested always remains open. Thus, the territory of the associated ideas remains unconquered and reveals the psychology and the inventiveness of the participants.

The proposed study is aimed at confirming the hypothesis that there exist two opposing trends in media discourse. On the one hand, there is a tendency to globalization; on the other hand, linguocultural communities are quite determined to preserve their culture and identity. To prove this hypothesis we analyzed a corpus of newspaper texts published over several years. Namely, we studied 1483 Austriacisms recorded by the dictionary Variantenwörterbuch des Deutschen. The objective was to discover the frequency in the use of certain Austriacisms and their Teutonic equivalents in Austrian newspaper Die Presse to identify convergent or divergent processes in the development trends of the German language in Austrian media discourse. The research showed that only 453 lexical units dominated in newspaper articles; it made 30% of 1483 codified Austriacisms. We found that 71 lexemes showed tendency to the parallel use in forms of Austriacisms and Teutonisms which makes less than 5 % of the total number of the lexical units. Such terms have predominantly similar pronunciation hence we can draw a conclusion that such phonemic similarity facilitates equal use of these Austriacisms and Teutonisms in newspapers and stipulates their convergence. These lexical units are not marked by any particular ethnocultural specificity. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the word stock denoting Austrian culture, traditions, and realia of daily life.

This chapter focuses on the shared vulnerability that binds people to one another. People must keep two things in mind. First, the universality of people's vulnerability, however inescapable in a globalized world, is infinitely variable. It is, stated otherwise, unequally distributed. Judith Butler evoked this inequality following the attacks of September 11, 2001, when she pressed her fellow citizens, justifiably traumatized by the aggression, not to be blinded to the multiple forms of insecurity that beleaguer other populations and other peoples around the world. Second, there is in this sense a geography of vulnerability, a mapping of which overlaps that of famine, misery, war, epidemics, political violence, or oppression. There can be no disputing that the inscription of frontiers that separate wealth from poverty, hunger from opulence, access to care from scarcity of care, instruction from illiteracy, and “democracy” from dictatorship and authoritarianism ground the “reality” of the world. They fracture and partition it. Thus, the question of truth comes up forcefully in those recurring situations in which there is a distortion between, on the one hand, the unequal globalization of vulnerability and, on the other hand, the calculations, pretensions, and partial and partisan interpretations of inequality, in the name of some or other prerogative or in defense of sovereign interests.

Abstract. Two experiments examined the influence of stories on recipients’ self-perceptions. Extending prior theory and research, our focus was on assimilation effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in line with a protagonist’s traits) as well as on contrast effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in contrast to a protagonist’s traits). In Experiment 1 ( N = 113), implicit and explicit conscientiousness were assessed after participants read a story about either a diligent or a negligent student. Moderation analyses showed that highly transported participants and participants with lower counterarguing scores assimilate the depicted traits of a story protagonist, as indicated by explicit, self-reported conscientiousness ratings. Participants, who were more critical toward a story (i.e., higher counterarguing) and with a lower degree of transportation, showed contrast effects. In Experiment 2 ( N = 103), we manipulated transportation and counterarguing, but we could not identify an effect on participants’ self-ascribed level of conscientiousness. A mini meta-analysis across both experiments revealed significant positive overall associations between transportation and counterarguing on the one hand and story-consistent self-reported conscientiousness on the other hand.

SummaryThe prognosis of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) has improved considerably by introduction of aggressive consolidation chemotherapy and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT). Nevertheless, only 20-30% of patients with AML achieve long-term diseasefree survival after SCT. The most common cause of treatment failure is relapse. Additionally, mortality rates are significantly increased by therapy-related causes such as toxicity of chemotherapy and complications of SCT. Including radioimmunotherapies in the treatment of AML and myelodyplastic syndrome (MDS) allows for the achievement of a pronounced antileukaemic effect for the reduction of relapse rates on the one hand. On the other hand, no increase of acute toxicity and later complications should be induced. These effects are important for the primary reduction of tumour cells as well as for the myeloablative conditioning before SCT.This paper provides a systematic and critical review of the currently used radionuclides and immunoconjugates for the treatment of AML and MDS and summarizes the literature on primary tumour cell reductive radioimmunotherapies on the one hand and conditioning radioimmunotherapies before SCT on the other hand.

Two aspects of Schumpeter' legacy are analyzed in the article. On the one hand, he can be viewed as the custodian of the neoclassical harvest supplementing to its stock of inherited knowledge. On the other hand, the innovative character of his works is emphasized that allows to consider him a proponent of hetherodoxy. It is stressed that Schumpeter's revolutionary challenge can lead to radical changes in modern economics.

Abstract Pesantren are often associated with backwardness and traditionalism in everything: facilities, technology, learning methods, and even the curriculum. For now, it seems like the traditional term for pesantren is no longer relevant enough. The pace of movement in the era of renewal marked by the rapid development of technology has demanded pesantren to make adjustments. However, on the one hand, when viewed from the direction of change, the reform efforts pursued by pesantren are not to erase the old tradition, but merely to add something new so that the old tradition and conditions can be maintained while accepting the presence of a new one. On the other hand, the reform efforts undertaken by pesantren have implications for the fact that the typical values of the pesantren are fading away.
