<p><em>Teaching music generally implicates multidimensional process whereby an assortment of approaches should be incorporated in order to provide the right and proper ambience for teaching and learning process. The need to explore and further understand the complexity in teaching beginner string technique class instigates the study which explore the implication of an objectivist-constructivist blended approach for teaching beginners string technique class. This paper explores the impact of blended-approach teaching on students’ achievement and satisfaction in Malaysian university-level beginner string technique classes. Using a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group post-test only design, students (N = 40) from two local public universities were assigned to one of two treatment condition: experimental group, where students were presented with blended approach instructional material, and control group, where students were presented with conventional instructional material. Students completed the course of 14 weeks. The implementation results revealed that the proposed blended approach contributes to meaningful and efficient learning.</em></p>

The aim of this study was to check the impact of an intervention program based on peer-tutoring on self-regulated learning of freshmen, as well as on peer tutors. The sample consisted of 102 freshmen (51 experimental group y 51 control group) and 50 seniors from four different university degrees. Self-regulated learning was measured by the Motivated Strategies Learning Questionnaire. After assigning freshmen randomly to either the experimental or control condition, the study adopted a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group controlled by statistical techniques, the intervention consisted of 20 individual tutoring sessions highly structured to freshmen delivered by seniors or tutors, after receiving three sessions of training on tutoring. The results yield statistically significant differences in self-regulated learning on participants.

This research is based on the problems experienced in schools, namely the problems of the learning media used. This research uses a quasi-experimental form, namely a quasi-experimental design research and the design used is a non-equivalent control group design. This study was to determine the comparison of learning outcomes between classes using Focusky media and classes using PowerPoint media at SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak in Mixed Separation SubMaterial and to know the impact of using Focusky Media on the learning outcomes of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak. The research sample was 57 students consisting of 28 students in class VII B, namely the control class and 29 students in class D, the experimental class. Based on the results obtained, the value of the experimental class is greater than the control class. For statistical analysis, the pretest data used a t-test and showed that there were still differences in the pretest results in the two classes with a sig. (2- tailed) value of 0.001 so that the N-Gain test was carried out, obtained a value of 0.48 and was in the medium category. The effect size value shows a value of 46, 78, the results are categorized as moderate so that Focusky media-assisted learning is efficient in increasing student learning outcomes.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the impact of the implementation of insertion and maintenance bundles on the rates of catheter-related bloodstream infection in an intensive care unit. Method: This is a quasi-experimental, before-and-after study with a non-equivalent control group. During a six-month period, insertion and maintenance bundles for the central venous catheters were implemented. Supervision guidelines were developed to assess compliance with the bundle and catheter characteristics. Results: A total of 444 central catheters corresponding to 390 patients were observed, of which 68.7% were inserted in the unit. The maintenance and insertion bundles reached 62.9% and 94.7% compliance, respectively, and 50.7% of the insertions were supervised. It was possible to observe a 54.5% decrease in the rate of central catheter infection (3.48 vs 1.52 x 1000 days/catheter, p<0.05) when compared with the control group. Conclusion: The simultaneous implementation of insertion and maintenance bundles has a positive impact on the reduction of catheter-related bloodstream infection; therefore it is an efficient alternative to improve the quality and safety of care in high complexity units.

This study is motivated by the dearth of research in pragmatic instruction in Italian as a foreign language (IFL) with beginner learners. Based on the limitations in the way IFL textbooks present requests, instructional material was designed with the following objectives: to improve learners’ pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic competences and to raise their awareness of request realisation across different contexts. The material, designed for a 60-minute pedagogical intervention, was then used in an Italian language school in Sao Paulo with five intact classes of beginner Brazilian learners of Italian. We implemented a pre- and post-test quasi-experimental methodological design, where three classes were randomly selected to serve as the experimental group, and two classes served as the control group. The data collected through written DCTs and simplified retrospective questionnaires revealed that the learners in the experimental group showed a more significant improvement in their socio pragmatic, pragmalinguistic and metapragmatic competence compared to the control group. These results suggest a positive effect of consciousness-raising activities on learners’ declarative knowledge in the short term.

The teaching and learning activities at grade 10th SMA Negeri 1 Krueng Barona Jaya and SMAN 1 Peukan Bada Aceh Besar, it can be seen that the learning motivation of students is still lacking to learn. The learning motivation of students has not been maXmized because students still feel the learning conditions that provide opportunities for students to make assumptions and carry out an experiment to obtain their own knowledge. This condition causes students to only refer to conventional modules which contain material only. This study aims to analyze the differences in the learning motivation of students in the experimental class and the control class on environmental pollution material in class grade 10th  SMAN Aceh Besar. The approach used in this research is quantitative, the type of research is applied research, a quasi-experimental method, with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research sample was 105 students. The research procedure was to provide a pre-test, a web-based electronic module treatment combined with PBL in the experimental class and conventional methods in the control class, and post-test. The instrument used is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity, reliability test. Data analysis used independent t-test with prerequisite test for normality and homogeneity test. Establishing students’ pronunciation needs a promising instructional method. One of the teachers’ efforts to develop students’ pronunciation is applying the shadowing technique. The shadowing technique was able to facilitate students to practice pronunciation skills. This study was categorized with a quasi-experimental study with the non-equivalent control group design. The samples were taken randomly using a purposive random sampling. The samples consist of 70 students that were divided into two classes, namely the experimental and control classes. The data were collected through interview, multiple-choice test, and record. Here it used descriptive and T-test analysis to find the ways they learned and the results. Finally, the researchers considered that shadowing technique is very good to be applied by the teachers and lecturers in class. The most surprising aspect of the findings are; 1) the students were motivated as long as teaching and learning conducted; 2) their response mostly positive to the way they learned; 3) and they got significant change on their pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. This change can be seen from their ability in expressing their ideas and 4) inferential statistic results; t-test was 4.077 and t-table was 2.021 with degree of freedom (df) 44 and the level of significance (0.05) in 95%.
