Objective: The objective of present research deals with collection, taxonomic, molecular taxonomy characterization, and antioxidant activity of wild non-gilled mushrooms sample collected from North Western Himalayas.Methods: The wild non-gilled mushroom samples were characterized for micro, morphological properties, and molecular identification. 1,1 diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH), nitric oxide (NO2), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and free radical scavenging assay were used to evaluate the antioxidant properties of selected wild non-gilled mushrooms.Results: The obtained results revealed that on the basis of microscopic and morphological identification all the four non-gilled mushrooms samples were tentatively identified as 2/15 (Auricularia sp.1), 6/15 (Auricularia sp.2), 32/15 (Ganoderma sp.), and 132/15 (Trametes sp.). The colony, mycelial, and basidiospore morphology of fungal isolate were evidence of Basidiomycetes family. All these four non-gilled mushrooms were sequenced. Sequences were submitted to National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), and their accession number was MF770159 (2/15), MF774107 (6/15), MF770158 (32/15), and MF770160 (132/15). The phylogenetic analysis of 18S ribosomal deoxyribonucleic acid (18S rDNA) sequence of four non-gilled mushrooms was compared with other species and identified as Auricularia polytricha, Ganoderma lucidum, Auricularia auricula-judae, and Trametes elegans. The four non-gilled mushrooms extract exhibited DPPH, NO2, and H2O2 free radical scavenging activities. G. lucidum methanolic extract has the highest effect on free radicals in comparison to hexane effect.Conclusion: All the isolated four non-gilled mushrooms showed good antioxidant potential, and it can be concluded that these mushrooms are not only consumed but also have a wide range of medicinal properties which must further explode for future use.

Objective: The present study was designed to evaluate the phytochemical composition and antibacterial and antioxidant potential of methanolic leaf and root extracts of Indigofera tinctoria L.Methods: Phytochemical analysis was done using standard methods. The methanolic leaf and root extracts of the plant were tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Salmonella paratyphi B by cup-plate agar diffusion method. The free radical scavenging activities of the methanol extracts of leaves and roots were evaluated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay.Results: Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of carbohydrates, reducing sugars, alkaloids, saponins, phenolic compounds, and flavonoids in methanolic leaf and root extracts. Methanolic leaf extracts of the plant exhibited antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria, but the root extracts failed to inhibit the tested bacterial pathogens. The antioxidant activity determination revealed that at 100 μg/ml, methanolic root extracts had the highest antioxidant activity (89.10%) on DPPH free radicals followed by methanolic leaf extracts (46.74%).Conclusion: The results of the present study conclude that the studied plant possesses broad-spectrum antibacterial and antioxidant properties and may act as a potent antioxidant for biological systems susceptible to free radical-mediated reactions.

Fruits and vegetables have plenty of natural antioxidants, especially vitamin C and E. Fruits contained beta-carotene, phenolic compounds such as anthocyanin and other flavonoids, which showcase a wide range of biological benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti carcinogenic properties. Eriobotrya japonica commonly called as loquat fruit, is a subtropical evergreen fruit. In the present study an attempt was made to analyzed the phytochemical screening, nutraceuticals and antioxidant activity of the aforesaid traditionally important and pharmacologically potent fruits and seeds of E. japonica. The dried powdered fruits and seed samples were subjected for the analysis of nutritional parameters, phytochemical screening and evaluation of antioxidant activity. The nutritional parameters such as total carbohydrate, total starch, total proteins and levels of free amino acids were analyzed. Phytochemical screening of E. japonica clearly showed the presence of certain important secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, glycosides, cardiac glycosides, phytosterol and gums and mucilage. The antioxidant activity of the plant extracts were determined by using super oxide free radical scavenging assay. The results of the present study clearly indicated that methanol seed extract showed better free radical scavenging activity at concentration of 1000 mg/ml of extract. Among the selected samples fruits of E.japonica was found to be more potent than the seeds of the same species. However, more advanced pharmacological and clinical studies would be required to investigate in vivo mechanism of pharmacological effects of this important edible fruits E. japonica.

 Introduction: Chromolaena odorata Linn (Asteraceae) locally known as “Banmara” has the reputation of being used as a medicinal herb in Nepal. A systemic search for drug research in now considered to be a rational approach. Therefore in the present study an effort has been made to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the leaves of the above mentioned plant. Methods: In the present research work the ethanolic and methanolic extract of leaves of the plant C. odorata Linn was assessed for free radical scavenging and antioxidant activity. In this work the ability of the extract to scavenge nitric oxide, hydroxyl radical and 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were used to assess its free radical scavenging potentials. Results: The DPPH radical inhibition (%) was 59.10, 52.13 and 81.12 for ethanolic extract, methanolic extract and ascorbic acid respectively. Similarly ethanolic and methanolic extract  also showed significant free radical scavenging action against nitric oxide and hydroxyl radical. Conclusion: Against the backdrop of many known medicinal properties of this plant its ethanolic and methanolic extract of leaves reveals significant antioxidant properties. To investigate the fractions of the chloroform extract of Chrysopogon zizanioides L by column and thin layer chromatography and antioxidant activity of fractions of chloroform extract of Chrysopogon zizanioides L. The extract was screened for possible antioxidant activities by free radical scavenging activity (DPPH) method. The results showed that all the plant fractions possessed antioxidant properties including radical scavenging activities. The anti-oxidative activities of four compounds were compared with the standard ascorbic acid. The compound four of Chrysopogon zizanioides L was more effective than that of other three compounds. This study suggests that the four compounds from Chrysopogon zizanioides L chloroform extract exhibit great potential for antioxidant activity and may be useful for their nutritional and medicinal functions.

Flavonoids constitute a large group of polyphenolic compounds that are known to have antioxidant properties, through their free radical scavenging abilities. They possess a chromone (γ- benzopyrone) moiety, responsible for eliciting many pharmacological activities. Even though, natural flavonoids are highly potent, owing to their poor solubility, they are less used. Therefore, attempts have been made to improve their stability, solubility, efficacy and kinetics by introducing various substituents on the flavone ring. For nearly the last two decades, flavones were synthesized in our laboratory by simple, convenient and cost-effective methods, with the knowledge of both synthetic and semi-synthetic chemistry. In this direction, it was considered worthwhile to present an overview on the synthesized flavonoids. This review creates a platform for highlighting various modifications done on the flavone system along with their biological activity.

This research adopts the pancreatin hydrolysis of silk fibroin active peptide, evaluate the antioxidant activity of hydrolysates. In the process of hydrolysis of silk fibroin, by measuring the amino nitrogen content of neutral formaldehyde titration method. Find the amino nitrogen content gradually stabilized at around 0.37g/L, and superoxide free radical scavenging rate changing with time fluctuation trend, superoxide free radical scavenging rate to a maximum of 65.03% at 220min.The use of silk fibroin hydrolysis process optimization,reaction time 160min, enzyme concentration4% , substrate concentration 20mg/ml, pH 8, temperature 38°C. The hydrolysis process under the hydrolysate on superoxide radical scavenging rate of 72.73%. The scavenging rate of hydroxyl radical is 47.24%. Red blood cell hemolysis induced by H2O2 inhibition rate was 24.30%.

Objective: This study was designed to determine the Total phenol, flavonoid content, antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties of different solvent extracts of Piper umbellatum.  Methods: Different solvent extracts evaluated with DPPH radical scavenging activity and Reducing power activity.Results: The presence of phenol and flavonoid showed highly in the methanol extracts than ethyl acetate and acetone extracts. All the extracts have various level of antioxidant activity. Methanol solvent extract have good extraction and show significant antioxidant activity. The effect of reducing power of methanol extract revealed good antioxidant activity compare with other tested extracts.Conclusion: On the basis of the above results we concluded that methanol extract of Piper umbellatum whole plant extracts shows significant antioxidant activity than ethyl acetate and acetone extracts.Keywords: Piper umbellatum, Antioxidant, DPPH, FRAP assay, Polar, Non polar solvents

<p><strong>Objective: </strong>The objectives of this research were to evaluate and compare the antioxidant activity; phenolics and flavonoids contents; and chemical composition of some galactopoietic herbs used in Indonesia and to find a possible relationship between antioxidant activity; phenolics, flavonoids and chemical composition of these plants.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A wide range of analytical parameters was studied, including yield; pH; water activity (a<sub>w</sub>); total color difference; phenolics and flavonoids content; moisture; ash; protein; fat; carbohydrate; fiber; calcium; zinc; magnesium; potassium; iron content; and the data were analyzed by partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) to evaluate the correlation between the parameters and classification of the plants. Folin–cioceltaeu assay, aluminum chloride assay and DPPH scavenging assay were used to evaluate of total phenolics content and free radical scavenging activity of the ethanolic extract of galactopoietic herbs.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>All of the galactagogue herbs, <em>viz</em>. <em>Plectranthus amboinicus </em>(Lour.) (PA), <em>Sauropus androgynus</em> (SA), <em>Moringa oleifera</em> (MO), and <em>Carica papaya</em> leaves (CP) exhibited good results of TPC, TFC and antioxidant activity. MO contained the highest average of total phenolics content (53.89 mg GAE/g). SA with a ratio of total flavonoids to total phenolics (TF/TP) which is 1.59 contained the highest average of total flavonoids and antioxidant activity (IC<sub>50</sub>), 43.63 mg QE/g and 126.13 μg/ml, respectively, followed by MO&gt;CA&gt;PA. Based on PLS and PCA analysis, antioxidant activity correlated with fat, protein, phenolics content, flavonoids content and pH, but only the total flavonoids content correlated strongly with antioxidant activity.<strong></strong></p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>This provides useful data about the studied relationships and chemical patterns in some galactopoietic herbs used and provides a helpful tool for understanding much more about the interpretation of results from the experiments and the mechanism of biosynthesis in plants.</p>
