This study aimed to describe the level of students' reasoning ability to solve the problems on flat sides of Geometry with the level of mathematical reasoning ability of high, moderate and low. The types and the research approaches used were descriptive qualitative and quantitative research design. The research subjectswere 6 students from class VIIIF. The form of data collection included 4 items ofwritten questions test and interview on the subject selected. Based on the analysis, the average value of the entire instrument about the mathematical reasoning abilities gained 71.5% for the indicators that carried out the calculations based on mathematical formulas or rules applicable. While 73.33% and 71.5% for the indicator of conclusions and 66.67% for the indicator ofestimation, that ifsummedup and averaged the percentage was 69%. The ability of class VIIIF students’ mathematical reasoning was fair.

This study aims to analyze the validity and effectiveness of teaching materials developed based on a realistic mathematical approach in improving students 'mathematical reasoning and representation abilities, to analyze the increase in students' reasoning skills and mathematical representation abilities taught using teaching materials based on realistic mathematical approaches. The data were obtained through the validation sheet of teaching materials, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, mathematical reasoning ability test instruments and mathematical representation ability tests. This study uses a 4-D development model Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel by developing teaching materials with a realistic mathematical approach. Based on the results of the validation, the total average value of the RPP validity was 4.81, the student books were 4.83 and the LKPD was 4.85, the students' mathematical reasoning ability tests and the mathematical representation ability tests were in the valid category. Classical mastery of learning reaches 90.62% which has met the completeness criteria, namely ≥85% of students have reached the KKM. The increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial has increased from 0.36 to 0.50 meaning that it is in the medium category. As well as an increase in the ability of students' mathematical representation using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial, it increased from 0.43 to 0.50, meaning that it was in the medium category.

<p><strong>Abstrak: </strong>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal <em>HOTS</em> geometri. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Madiun pada 32 siswa kelas IX H tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Selanjutnya, dipilih satu subjek pada masing-masing kategori yaitu kemampuan penalaran matematis tinggi, kemampuan penalaran matematis sedang, dan kemampuan penalaran matematis rendah untuk dilakukan analisis data dengan melihat kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa berdasarkan indikator; mengajukan dugaan, melakukan manipulasi matematika, memberikan alasan atau bukti dan menarik kesimpulan. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan penalaran kategori rendahmenuliskan jawaban dengan tidak tepat dan hanya memenuhi indikator penalaran matematis pertama yakni mengajukan dugaan. Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan penalaran matematis kategori sedang menjawab soal kurang lengkap dan memenuhi dua indikator penalaran matematis; mengajukan dugaan dan menarik kesimpulan. Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan penalaran matematis kategori tinggi menuliskan jawaban dengan tepat, lengkap dan memenuhi semua indikator penalaran matematis: mengajukan dugaan, melakukan manipulasi matematika, memberikan alasan atau bukti dan menarik kesimpulan.</p><p><strong>Kata kunci:</strong> Penalaran matematis; Soal <em>HOTS</em>, Geometri</p><p><strong>Abstract</strong>: This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving geometric HOTS problem. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Madiun on 32 students of class IX H for the 2020/2021 school year. Furthermore, one subject was selected in each category, namely high mathematical reasoning ability, medium mathematical reasoning ability, and low mathematical reasoning ability for data analysis by looking at students' mathematical reasoning abilities based on indicators; making conjectures, performing mathematical manipulations, providing reasons or evidence and drawing conclusions. Data collection techniques in this study used tests and interviews. The results of this study indicate that students who have low category reasoning abilities write answers incorrectly and only satisfy the first mathematical reasoning indicator, namely making conjectures. Students who have the medium category of mathematical reasoning write answer incomplete and satisfy two indicators of mathematical reasoning; making conjectures and drawing conclusions. Students who have high category mathematical reasoning abilities write answers accurately, completely and satisfy all indicators of mathematical reasoning: making conjectures, performing mathematical manipulations, providing reasons or evidence and drawing conclusions.</p><p><strong>Key words: </strong>Mathematical reasoning; HOTS Problem, Geometry<strong></strong></p>

This research was conducted to determine the effect of aptitude-treatment interaction (ATI) instructional models with task and forced instructional strategy to mathematical reasoning abilities. Mathematical reasoning ability is an ability that belongs to the goals of national education, but its achievement is still fairly low. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only research design. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique. The study sample consisted of 60 students divided into two classes (30 experimental classes and 30 control classes). This research was conducted in the school of SMK Perintis 1 Depok and SMK Fajar Depok. The experimental class uses aptitude-treatment interaction (ATI) learning model with task and forced learning strategies, while the control class uses conventional methods. The collected data is then analyzed using the calculation of chi-square test, Fisher test, and hypothesis testing. The results of the data analysis showed that the average value of students who learned using aptitude-treatment interaction (ATI) learning model with task and forced learning strategies was higher than the average value of students who learned using conventional methods. Based on the results of hypothesis testing shows that there is an influence of aptitude-treatment interaction (ATI) learning model with task learning strategies and forced on students' mathematical reasoning abilities.

The purpose of this study was to determine students’ mathematical reasoning abilities in solving PISA equivalent geometry content problems at the class VIII of SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa and these factors can influence students’ mathematical reasoning abilities in solving equivalent questions of PISA geometry content grade VIII of SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa. The research design used in this study was descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 30 students from grade VIII- SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa.  Data collection was obtained through the distributing of tests and interviews. From the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that the mathematical reasoning students’ ability in Solving on geometry content problems in grade VIII of SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa was in the very low category. The ability of students’ on mathematical reasoning at the indicator I was 21.56%, indicator II was 33.49%, indicator III was 16.11%, and indicator IV was 15.56%. The cause of the obstacles faced by students in solving geometry content material problems is that students were not accustomed to solving  non-routine questions, a little bit complicated, and require a high level of problem solving as the questions given to students were equivalent to PISA problems, the ability of students to mastery of the material is limited and cannot suitable to the concepts that have been studied with the problem being worked on. Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal setara PISA konten geometri di kelas VIII SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal setara PISA konten geometri kelas VIII SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa dari kelas VIII-Nusa SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui pemberian tes dan wawancara. Dari hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam mengerjakan soal konten geometri kelas VIII Nusa SMP Negeri Unggul Tunas Nusa berada dalam kategori sangat rendah. Kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada indikator I sebesar 21,56%, pada indikator II sebesar 33,49%, pada indikator III sebesar 16,11%, dan indikator IV sebesar 15,56%. Penyebab dari  kendala yang dihadapi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal materi konten geometri adalah siswa tidak terbiasa menyelesaikan  soal-soal nonrutin, sedikit rumit, serta memerlukan tingkat pemecahan masalah yang tinggi seperti soal yang diberikan kepada siswa adalah soal setara PISA, kemampuan siswa dalam menguasai materi yang terbatas dan siswa tidak mampu mengaitkan konsep yang telah lama dipelajari dengan soal yang sedang dikerjakan. The purpose of this study is to determine teacher efforts to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities through the Problem Based Learning model. This research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 28 students of class VII-1 SMP Negeri 2 Siantan, Anambas Islands Regency. The research instrument used was the teacher's observation sheet and the mathematical reasoning ability test. Data collection is done through observation and tests. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively and described in a descriptive form. The results obtained are the mathematical reasoning ability of students in the first cycle of 2.27 and the second cycle of 2.83. Based on the results of the study showed that the efforts of teachers made in the second cycle were better than the first cycle, so that an increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities in the second cycle was in the good category.

This study aims to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities in learning mathematics through Problem Solving with Scientific approaches. The subjects in this study were all students of class VIII B, Padamara 1 st junior high school, totaling 33 students. This research was conducted in 3 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Each cycle in this study includes action planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. To measure the ability of mathematical reasoning is evaluated using the mathematical reasoning ability test. Based on the results of the study, the mathematical reasoning ability of the first cycle obtained an average value of 40.9, the second cycle obtained an average value of 60.15, and the third cycle obtained an average value of 63.3. The conclusion obtained from this study is that learning with Problem Solving with the Scientific approach can improve the mathematical reasoning ability of students of class VIII B Padamara 1 N Middle School, especially the subject of Building a Flat Side Room.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 SMK Diponegoro Salatiga, the efforts of teachers in maximizing the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 at SMK Diponegoro Salatiga, and the efforts of the teacher in overcoming problems with the students' low mathematical reasoning abilities. The method used in this research is to use a qualitative approach. Data collection in this study was a written test and interviews. The test was conducted to determine the students' mathematical reasoning abilities by using 3 open-ended questions in the form of descriptions. Interviews were conducted to find out in depth the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in solving math problems which were followed by 6 out of 29 students who were selected based on the students' abilities, namely 2 students with high abilities, 2 students with moderate abilities and 2 students with low abilities. The results of the study reveal that: (1) high-ability students meet the indicators of presenting mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; submit allegations; manipulating mathematics; compile evidence, provide reasons / evidence for the correctness of the solution; draw a conclusion; and check the validity of an argument. Students who are able to meet the indicators present mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; submit allegations; and manipulate math. Low ability students meet the indicators of presenting mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; and put forward allegations. (2) the efforts of the teacher in maximizing the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 SMK Diponegoro Salatiga by enriching and remedials. (3) the efforts of the teacher in overcoming students' low mathematical reasoning abilities by conducting peer tutoring.   Keywords: Ability Analysis, Mathematical Reasoning, Open-ended Problems.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of learning with abductive-deductive strategy towards the achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of high school students. Research carried out an experimental pretest-posttest design and the control group was not randomized in class XI student at one high school in Pati, Central Java, Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted quantitative research based on early mathematical ability categories (KAM) and overall. The results showed that the achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities that students acquire learning abductive-deductive strategy better than students who received the expository learning. In more detail of KAM categories, only middle category that show achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities better. While in upper and under categories have the same reasoning abilities achievements. This research is expected teachers can encourage students to do abduction and deduction in the learning achievement of students’ mathematical reasoning abilities.

Abstract. This research was conducted at University of Muhammadiyah South Tapanuli in semester VI student of mathematics education program that follow Real Analytical course. This study aims to determine students' mathematical reasoning ability after using constructivism approach and also want to know the effectiveness of constructivism approach to mathematical reasoning ability, as well as expected to give benefit to lecturer of Real Analysis course lecturer. The method used to achieve the goal is by experimental method with pre-experimental design research design. This research produces: A very effective constructivism approach is used to teach real analysis courses. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XI on statistical material through the CPC learning model and conventional models and describe the results of analysis of mathematical reasoning abilities of class XI students through CPC learning models and conventional models on statistical material. This study was a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design. The sample from this study was XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 MA Ma'arif NU Jenggawah. While the subject of qualitative research was 6 students from the experimental class and the control class students selected based on high, medium, and low reasoning abilities. Data collection is done by test, observation, field notes and interviews. The analysis technique uses prerequisite tests, namely t-test and qualitative descriptive. Based on the results of quantitative research, using SPSS 16 software obtained Sig = 0,000 <0,025 so that it was rejected, meaning that there was a significant difference between mathematical reasoning abilities of the experimental class students using CPC models and control classes using conventional models in statistical material. While the qualitative analysis shows that based on the results of interviews on experimental class subjects, an average of 88% of students have fulfilled five reasoning indicators while in the control class only 56% of students meet the five indicators of mathematical reasoning.
