Relationship problems can result in low self-acceptance. The purpose of this case study is to see if Reality Therapy can improve self-acceptance due to relationship problems. The assessments carried out to diagnose the subject are interviews, observation, graphic tests (DAP, BAUM, HTP), SSCT, CFIT, and the Self-Acceptance Scale. The intervention carried out was using Reality Therapy. The results of the intervention showed that Reality Therapy had a positive and effective impact on increasing self-acceptance in the subject. The subject can know his strengths and weaknesses and is able to make positive plans for himself.

For 55 students (13 men, 42 women) there was a significant inverse correlation for scores on the Self-acceptance Scale and scores on the Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale, thereby giving credence to the construct validity of both scales, that is, the more one accepts oneself, the less negative evaluation there is of oneself.

The study aims to identify the effectiveness of social support to self-acceptance in adolescent post-divorce parents. The samples in this study were 40 students of SMA Al-Ulum Medan. The technique of sampling data was to use purposive sampling taken using the criteria of adolescents who are divorced parents and obtained from documentation from the school. The data collection method was the Social Support Scale and the Self-Acceptance Scale. Analyze the data using Product Moment correlation. The findings showed a significant association between social support and self-acceptance, with the coefficient is 0.875 and p-value< 0.001. The results showed that social support contributes to self-acceptance in 76.3%. That was, there were still 23.7% of other factors not studied in this study. The results showed that social support strongly influenced adolescents to accept their parents' divorce conditions.

Data collection used self-esteem scale adapted from Resty (2015) and self-acceptance scale develop by researcher based onHurlock’s theory (Noviani, 2016). Hypothesis testing uses a simple linear regression test. The results of the study show that self-esteem have significant positive effect on self-acceptance with a value of p (0.000) <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the self-esteem variable can predict the self-acceptance variable. Effective contribution of self-esteem variable to self-acceptance variable is 33.6%.

Children from poor families are facing great challenges as they are growing up. Limited resources, low-level parents’ education, and environments have given impacts on how the families raise their children and prepare them for school. This research is to find out how a school readiness program initiated by Bimbel Ibu Bangsa for children of poor families at Kampung Gunung Sari can help them to get a quality education program and also to help parents implement effective parenting styles for the success of their children. A qualitative approach with a case-study model was used. The subject of this study consisted of 4 students out of the 16 students involved in the program. The data were collected by using participatory observations, home-visit notes, field notes, voice and visual recordings, and also by interviewing the parents and teachers. The validity of data was determined by triangulating and member-checking the data. The results of this research indicate that this program is quite able to be held with low budgets and will still be able to give quality education if the program is supported by the stakeholders in the community. The results also show that children and parents enrolled in this program gain many benefits shown by their adaptive parenting styles and children’s modified behaviours for the upcoming school readiness and overall better quality of life.

Self-acceptance, that is, a person’s acceptance of their own psychological and physical attributes, is considered critical for mental wellbeing. A lack of self-acceptance may contribute to the development of psychopathology. In the peripartum period, self-acceptance has particular relevance, as major psychological and body changes are normative during this time. This research presents the development and validation of the Self-Acceptance Scale for Pregnant Women (SAS-PW) and the Self-Acceptance Scale for Postpartum Women (SAS-PPW). Participants were aged 18–52. In Study 1, we developed 77 items for the SAS-PW and 74 items the SAS-PPW, based on literature review, previous scales, and qualitative study. In Study 2, nine experts and 60 representatives of the target population evaluated the instruments’ content validity, leading some items to be excluded and others to be modified. Studies 3 and 4 analyzed the instruments’ psychometric qualities among respondents to the instruments, 1254 pregnant women and 607 postpartum women from across Brazil. We conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with independent samples. The final SAS-PW (10 items and two-factors) and SAS-PPW (14 items and three-factors) demonstrated adequate psychometric quality for use with Brazilian pregnant and postpartum women, respectively.

The effect of loss of parents during childhood has been the subject of many studies. Although most reports agree that some emotional disturbance occurs in the child, it is not yet clear what are the late effects of such separations in adult psychiatric health and behaviour. Brown (1961) and Munro (1965) pointed out that childhood bereavement before the age of 15 is not a rare experience: both studies report an incidence of over 19 per cent, in non-psychiatric populations. While some studies (e.g. Brown, 1961) reported an increased frequency of bereavement in childhood in depressed patients, other studies (e.g. Hopkinson and Reed, 1966) failed to confirm this. Furthermore, as Ainsworth (1962) pointed out, the term “parental deprivation” requires careful definition. It can refer to insufficiency of parent-child interaction (which cannot be assumed to follow automatically in every separation, because of the presence of parent substitutes), to grief reactions which may be supposed to follow parental loss and predispose to depression (Bowlby, 1961) and to distortions of parent-child relationships. The psychological consequences of parental loss could be expected to differ according to the degree of pre-separation distortions of relationships.

This research begins with the thought that successful aging and adjustment have a relationship with self-acceptance in elderly individuals. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between successfull aging and self-adjustment with the self-acceptance of retired member organizations (PWRI) of Lampung Province. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a relationship between successfull aging and old age adjustment and self-acceptance.The population in this study were members of the Republic of Indonesia Wredatama Association (PWRI) Lampung Ranting I Kedaton, Bandar Lampung city. The sampling method for this research is to use population techniques that refer to Suharsimi Arikunto's theory, that if the subject is less than 100 people, it is better to take all so that the research is a population study. The sample taken in this study were all PWRI members who held monthly meetings at the PWRI meeting hall on Landak street No. 1 Kedaton, Bandar Lampung city. The sample in this study was obtained as many as 60 members of the Republic of Indonesia Wredatama Pensioners (PWRI).The data collection method uses three scales namely self-acceptance scale, successfull aging scale and adjustment scale with likert scale model. Data collected were analyzed by two predictor regression tests with the help of SPSS 16.0 for windows.Based on the results of the data analysis above, it means that the proposed hypothesis can be accepted and it can be concluded that there is a relationship between successfull aging and adjustment of old age with self-acceptance in retirees.

Family is the primary learning environment for children. Parents are children’s first social network. Prior to and concurrent with school education, the critical influence of parental expectation eventually permeates into all aspects of an individual’s life. However, the subject of family relationships is rarely addressed within school curricula. Furthermore, due to some seemingly unreachable parental expectations and unbearable family discord, brokenness continues to increase. The influence of expectation on relations is an area of limited academic research. This study explores parental expectation and its influence on parent-child relationships, using mixed methods: qualitative research methods involving interviews and focus group studies; and quantitative research utilizing a 41 item Likert scale questionnaire which was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) in order to identify underlying relationships among measured variables. This exploratory study establishes the basis to encourage further research on the topic of expectations and relationships.
