The main thesis of this paper was to briefly describe the measurement technique using a non-contact laser profilometer. This paper is divided into several parts, where in the introduction, in the theoretical analysis, we described the necessity of using control mechanisms in automation. Then, in the second chapter, we have developed the technology of measurement with a profilometer and its application in scientific work and in practice. In the experimental part, we have defined the application of a profilometer in laboratory conditions on an automated line in the measurement of a part printed with a 3D printer. Finally, we evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of this device compared to mechanical measuring devices.

The article concerns the illusory presentation of non-existent architectural objects directly in the place of their original location. This specific conservation method is considered as a tool for disseminating knowledge about the original architectural landscape of places where it has undergone transformations. The authors believe that its implementation may contribute to the growth of the identity of cities and their inhabitants. The concept refers to augmented reality, but the authors use only optical means to create a virtual component, The article presents the results of theoretical analysis and practical experiments, pointing to the advantages and disadvantages of the method.

In this article, we develop a programmatic notion of innovation ecosystems, which emphasizes the analysis of different forms of distributed innovation without reducing the perspective to the role of a focal organization. It highlights relationships between communities and corporate firms as nexus for distributed innovation and elaborates how different facets of openness shape the dynamic of the ecosystem. Thus, our model allows for the analysis and comparison of a broad scope of constellations, their particular coordinating mechanisms as well as related advantages and disadvantages. We apply this framework to two specific cases of distributed innovation, the RepRap 3D printer and the ARA modular smartphone, in order to delineate how differences in the forms of openness affect the prevalent relationships between communities and firms as well as the constituting functions of their particular innovation ecosystem.

The National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) is a unified system for monitoring the observance of human rights in places of detention, the system complies with international standards. In each State, the National Preventive Mechanism has its own characteristics. The article presents the results of a comparative legal study of the legislation of foreign states that have created the National Preventive Mechanism. Based on these results, identifies and analyzes three existing models of the National Preventive Mechanism in the world, identifies their advantages and disadvantages, and describes in detail all modifications of these models. The scientific work substantiates the author's position that the empowerment of National Preventive Mechanism functions to several decentralized bodies coordinated by one of them is optimal for the Russian Federation. Special attention is paid to the need to include in the National Preventive Mechanism of Russia an independent, regular and preventive public control over the observance of human rights in places of detention.

The article presents a theoretical analysis of existing concepts to evaluate the non-failure of RC structures in operation. To perform the analysis, the authors considered a number of scientific works of both Ukrainian and foreign researchers. The main focus was on works in which the model of the stochastic nature of the RC structure operation included random parameters of acting loads, as well as the reserve of its bearing capacity and serviceability (geometric dimensions of cross sections of constructive members, strength and deformation characteristics of materials, etc.). Among others, according to the authors, important problems in terms of analysis of a single work were the volume of statistical selection of random parameters, their number and impact on the study result, as well as rationality of the adopted method of calculating the probability of failure (or non-failure work) of RC structure in operation. Based on the processing of a number of scientific works, the authors highlight the relevance, advantages and disadvantages of the concepts of non-failure assessment proposed there, as well as the formulate the conclusions and recommendations for further experimental and theoretical research in this area.

AbstractTest results are presented for an additive material prepared of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene on a 3D printer. Dynamic tension experiments have been carried out using a tower-type drop hammer with an accelerator. Data obtained from different specimens demonstrate that high-strain-rate tensile experiments are feasible if the working part of the specimen is decreased. A theoretical analysis of test data using the incubation time criterion has been performed, and it has been found that analytical results are in good agreement with experimental data.

The article discusses the possibilities of using 3D printers in the construction industry, highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the technologies used. The subject of research is the design features of 3D printers and the possibilities for their improvement. To do this, we used the methods of system analysis and decomposition. As a result, 3D printers are considered, and printing technology is chosen as the basis for improvement. The decomposition of technical characteristics of a 3D printer that directly affect the result of its operation - the speed of printing. Control actions are defined. The results obtained can be used in further research to obtain quantitative dependencies.

In recent years, in the oil production industry there is a tendency of mass use of stationary multiphase metering units for determining oil, water, and associated gas flow rates in the recoverable well production. Automated group metering units, allowing to cover the whole group of wells in rotation metering mode, became widespread. The necessity of equipping wells with individual or group measuring devices is dictated, first of all, by the economic tasks of improving oil recovery factor and production optimization. In these conditions, the task of periodic verification of stationary measuring devices in the field with the help of mobile standards-measuring devices of higher accuracy class becomes urgent. The standard’s mobility and the need to work in the field with fluids of different composition significantly complicates the task of creating such a device. The practicality and economy of the created units first of all depends on a choice of a measuring method determining the design of the unit. This article analyzes the existing types of equipment for measuring oil, gas, and water consumption at the oil production wells. Showing the main advantages and disadvantages of each of them, this paper proves the necessity of using complex solutions based on different physical principles to improve the accuracy of measurements. The authors have proposed a combined scheme of a mobile standard of the 2nd category with a dynamic method for measuring the phase rates at the core. The unit performs a multi-stage partial separation of the input multiphase flow into liquid and gas phases and determines the fractions of water and oil in the liquid stream using a hydrostatic-type mixture composition analyzer. In addition, this article indicates the ways of increasing the accuracy of the measuring installation.

Context: In general, teachers and students have distorted views about the functioning of a scientific work. This research uses the episode of the historical construction of the Second Law of Movement and seven distorted views on the subject. Objectives: This work aims to exemplify the distorted views students can construct about scientific endeavour if a didactic approach that does not consider the history and philosophy of science is used. Design: Seven distorted views regarding scientific work are explained and, subsequently, exemplified from the episode in question, showing how this history is seen, in general, in textbooks, and by most teachers. Environment and participants: This is a theoretical analysis, not including participants. The materials used were primary and secondary bibliographic sources. Data collection and analysis: Seven distorted views on science, from the episode of the historical construction of the Second Law of Movement, were collected, and a historical-philosophical reflection was carried out on them. Results: Following the presentation of the views and examples, criticism and allusion to how this episode should be treated are offered. Conclusions: Throughout the text, as well as in its final considerations, relevant aspects to be worked on in the classroom are discussed, for a critical view of the construction of scientific knowledge.

The aim of this study was to briefly provide the history of the term ‘political correctness’ and discussed some of its views as well as mentioning two studies to support the claims. The importance is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of political correctness and to what extent the controversies over it could serve the political parties. The advantage of political correctness is to prevent individuals from harm, offensiveness, and discrimination, whereas the disadvantage is the ideological and political intervention because it would be difficult to separate cultural/political ideologies from a language.
