IMPROVING LISTENING SKILL USING LEARN ENGLISH BY LISTENING APPLICATION

Listening is one of basic skill in English. Many of students feel difficult to learn listening especially in English. Using a multimedia as a teaching media is important in this process. It can catch students attention of the lesson. This research discusses improving listening skill using application “Learning English by Listening” as learning media for grade 10 Pharmancy SMK Kesehatan Fajar Kencana. This study is Classroom Action Research. This research uses several instruments such as test used for pretest and posttest and observation. This study involved 39 students as the respondent of the research. This study using Learn English By Listening application to improve students listening skill. Students scores in listening skill at the pretest and posttest were namely the mean score of pretest is 6.34 and the mean score of posttest was 6.97. In the last score it increased to 8.18. The students were very enthusiastic in this learning.

The condition that occurs in the classroom is that students are afraid of English. Students feel that learning English is difficult to memorize. Students have learning difficulties because the teacher does not apply a suitable learning model for students. This causes students to feel bored in learning and has an impact on students' low English skills. The purpose of this study is to analyze the shadowing technique in learning English for students. This type of research is classroom action research. The research subjects were 17 students. There are four main parts of classroom action research, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The technique used to analyze the data is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The study results are the average value, from 73.2 in the first cycle to 76.0 in the second cycle. The percentage of students who passed the KKM also increased from 59% to 78%. Listening skills improve after the application of shadowing techniques. The key is that the application of shadowing techniques can improve students' listening. This research implies that teachers can apply shadowing techniques in the classroom. The application of shadowing techniques can create a fun learning atmosphere for students to improve students' listening skills.

The background of research is students have less motivation in learning English and some students feel difficult in understand vocabularies that were pronounced. As a result, they did not know the word and its meaning. It happens because they couldn’t hear the articulation of the word clearly. The objective of this research is to find out is YouTube vlog can improve students’ listening skill of eighth grade at MTs DDI Tani Aman Loa Janan.  The design of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which researcher following Kemmis and McTaggart action research procedures. The subject of this research was students of VIIIB at MTs DDI Tani Aman were about 29 students. The instrument of this research is observation checklist, test, and field note. The result of this research indicates that there was improvement of the students’ listening skill. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the second cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of English lesson was 75.00. In the preliminary study there were 2 students or 7.69% students who passed the KKM and mean score of preliminary study was 28.51. Next, the result of the first cycle showed that there were 9 students or 31.03% students who passed the KKM considering their mean score of the test gained 145.47%. next, the result of the second cycle shows that there were 27 students or 96.42% students who passed the KKM which their mean scores derived 88.21 and gained 209.40% of improvement. So, the final result is found that more than 75% students with individual score in listening skill passed the KKM.

This study is designed to solve the classroom problem dealing with the improvement of listening skill of the students of one private Islamic college that also study at pesantren1 in which they have lack of exposure in learning English. To cater a new way to overcome this issue, a classroom action research focusing on the implementation of interactive video viewing technique was employed. The findings exemplify that the students show better listening achievement after the implementation of second research cycle. Keywords: interactive video, listening skill, language exposure

This study aims to determine whether the use of Climbing Grammar Mountain Game gave significant improvement on students in learning simple present tense. Classroom action research was used in this study where the data were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The population of the study was the students of grade eleventh at SMPN 1 Luak 50 Kota. There were 21 students in this class. Six kinds of instruments were used to collect data, namely teaching ,scenario, observation sheet, questionnaire, test, interview, and teacher’s journal. This study ran for two cycles. In the second cycle, it was shown that there was gradual improvement from the previous cycle which changed from 64 (insufficient) to 79 (sufficient) of the mean score. it was more than criteria of the students’ mean score which were determined in this study and it was significant because it proved that the students enthusiasm to study simple present tense, it mean that the students liked and were not bored again so this was a motivation for them to more concentrate to study simple present tense and they could use it in daily life for communication. They understand that simple present tense is important in learning English because it is used in daily life, either in writing and spoken language. It could be concluded that Climbing Grammar Mountain Game could improve the ability of the students in class VII B of SMPN 1 Luak 50 Kota in using Simple Present Tense.

The research aims to know that Vocabulary Self-collection Strategy (VSS) can improve students’ vocabulary mastery and to find out how far Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) can be useful for the students' vocabulary mastery at the second-grade students of SMP Sinar Husni Medan. The methodology of this research used Classroom Action Research. It was conducted on a two-cycle. In analyzing the data, the researcher used quantitative data. The implementation of Vocabulary Self-collection Strategy (VSS) in teaching vocabulary at eight grade students was successful. It can be seen from the progress of the mean score in cycle I to cycle II. Mean score in a period I 71.20 % and rating in cycle II 78.80 %. The implementation Vocabulary Self-collection Strategy (VSS) as a learning strategy was not only increasing students' mean score but also increase students' motivation and behavior. The students were more interested, happy, and active in teaching-learning English, especially vocabulary. Based on the result above, it could be concluded that Vocabulary Self - Collection Strategy (VSS) improved their students’ vocabulary mastery. This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

This study presents a research report on improving students’ Learning results on IPA through Video. The objective was to find out whether students’ learning result improved when they are taught by using Video. It was conducted using classroom action research method. The subject of the study was the Grade IV students of SDN 187/IV Kota Jambi which is located on Jln. Adi Sucipto RT 05 Kecamatan Jambi Selatan, and the number of the students were 21 persons. The instruments used were test. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the on fisrt sycle was 65,4 (42,85%) and the mean on cycle two was 68,5 (37,15%) and the mean of the third cycle was 81,4 (100%). Then it can be concluded that the use of video on learning IPA can improve the students’ learning result. It is suggested that teachers should use video as one of the media to improve students’ learning result on IPA.Keywords : IPA, students’ learning result, video

This study attempts to increase students’ vocabulary achievement by using flash cards. The objective of the study is to investigate whether the using of flash card can improve students’ vocabulary achievement. This study conduct by applying Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles in six meetings. The subject of this study of SD Negeri 174559 Siraituruk, Porsea which consisted of 34 students. For collecting data, the instruments used were quantitative (vocabulary test) and qualitative data (interview sheet, observation sheet, and diary notes. Based on the data, it was found that the mean of the second cycle (80, 44) is higher than the mean of first cycle (64, 85) and pre-test (44, 41).  Based on interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes, it was found thee students were more active and more enthusiastic during the teaching learning process in the second cycle than the first one. It was concluded that teaching vocabulary by using  flash cards can improve the students’ vocabulary achievement.

<p>The objectives of this research are to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery and the student’s activeness in speaking through Engage, Study and Activate Method at the second year students of SMP Negeri 26Makassar. This research used Classroom Action Research that comprises of two cycles. The research population is the second year students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar, and the sample of this research comprises of 25 students. The researcher obtained the data by using a speaking test and observation sheet.The results of this research show that there is animprovement in students' vocabularybetween the cycle I and Cycle II. The mean scores of students in the diagnostic test are 4.7 became 6.21 in cycle I, and after doing a revision in the cycle II the mean score in cycle II is7.45 then the activeness of students also improve from first meeting 53 % became 92% in the last meeting and achieved the minimal criteria, 65. The research findings indicate that the use of Engage, Study and Activate method can enrich the students’ vocabulary mastery and improve the students’ activeness in speaking.</p>

The research is aimed to the use of think inside the box strategy be able to improve students vocabulary mastery. The subject of this study was 20 students at second grade students of SMPN 4 Praya Barat Daya. In which consist of 8 males and 12 females. It was classroom action research with two cycles, each cycles of four steps: planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data gathering used written test, and questionnaires and analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative approach. At the result of the first cycle was failed where the mean score of pre test was 62.35 and class percentage was 30% and he mean score of post test was 70.25 and class percentage was 65% and the result of the second cycle that the mean score was 80,2 and the class percentage was 80% indicating the target of 75 of the minimum criterion has been achieved, it means that the action was stopped.
