Introduction The AAMC transitioned to virtual interview formats for the 2020-2021 residency match. This study aims to examine the impact of the 100% virtual interview format for the 2020-2021 residency match on both application and match changes for multiple surgical specialties, including neurosurgery (NS), orthopedic surgery (OS), plastic surgery (PS), general surgery (GS), thoracic surgery (TS), and vascular surgery (VS). Methods Cross-sectional study comparing application and match changes between the in-person 2019-2020 and virtual 2020-2021 residency match cycles for different surgical specialties. Results There was an overall increase in the number of applicants for 5 of the surgery specialties but not VS, and an overall increase in the number of applications per residency program across all specialties. The average number of applications per applicant also increased, except in TS. There were no major match changes except in TS, which saw an increase in number of spots filled by MDs to nearly 100% from 84.2% in the previous cycle. Conclusion The switch to the 100% virtual 2020-2021 residency match interview format was associated with an overall increase in the number of applications per program and number of applications per applicant across multiple surgical specialties. There was a decrease in the number of applicants to VS and an increase in the number of applications per applicant. The switch to a virtual interview format in 2020-2021 was also associated with an increase in TS spots filled by MDs to almost 98%, increasing the already concerning TS match disparity for DO and IMG applicants.

The COVID-19 pandemic has provoked a range of economic shocks, food systems shocks, public health crises and political upheavals across the globe, prompting a rethink of associated global systems. Prepandemic anticolonial movements that challenged hierarchies of race, space, gender and expert knowledge in global health took on new meaning in the context of the unequal impacts of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as it moved through different kinds of spaces and distinct political contexts. In light of these dynamics, and the desire of many current practitioners in global health to reimagine the future, the need for critical analyses of the recent past have become more urgent. Here we challenge linear understandings of progress in global health—with a focus on the field of nutrition—by returning to consider a previous cycle of dramatic social, political and economic change that prompted serious challenges to the dominance of Western powers and US-based philanthro-capitalists. With a ‘global’ health and nutrition audience in mind, we put forward considerations on why a better understanding of the continuities and divergences between this past and the present moment are necessary to challenge a status quo that was, and is, highly flawed.

Various sewing activities are an appropriate step in improving children's fine motor skills, because they are used to express themselves. To produce interesting stitches really helps develop a child's imagination in improving their fine motor skills. PAUD Al-Quran Az-Zahra Banyurip Alit Pekalongan City on fine motor activities failed in various sewing materials, this can be seen from the work of children with a total of 20 children who got good grades only 5 children, only 4 children, and less than 11 children. The problem is the lack of physical fine motor skills of children in various sewing activities. This is because the media used is less varied so that children feel bored. So we need an active learning method using various media. The aim of this research is to improve children's fine motor skills in sewing with various media. The benefits are expected to contribute to the development of science. In carrying out the improvement of learning through two cycles. The results of observations and research in the second cycle increased more than the previous cycle. The results of the previous comparison had a success rate of only 45%, the first cycle was 65%, the second cycle reached a 95% success rate. So it can be concluded that sewing activities have a positive impact on fine motor development and can improve children's ability to sew with various media.

Abstract Aim Incomplete informed consent can lead to patient dissatisfaction and litigation.1 Time constraints, legibility, human error, limit completion of consent forms, putting surgeons and trusts at risk of litigation.2 The aim of this project was to assess legibility and completeness of handwritten consent forms, with the objective to improve legibility to 100% and risks listed to 100% of those endorsed by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).3 Method An initial baseline study in multiple hospitals across the UK identified 113 patients who underwent hemiarthroplasties. The consent forms were assessed for legibility and risks included, compared to those listed by the BOA. Pre-populated risks stickers were introduced in 1 district general hospital (DGH) and 2 cycles repeated again (62 patients identified). Results Overall, 35% of consent forms 1 were illegible; 100% of the time in the risks section. Mean number of risks missing was 2.34 and most frequently missed risk was ‘death’ (missing on 35.5% of consent forms). In the DGH that introduced stickers, consent forms were 100% legible and 100% compliant to the standards set by the BOA when the stickers were used. However, sticker use remained low; only used 20% of the time in the second cycle, marginally increased from the previous cycle (18%). Conclusions A high proportion of consent forms are not completed to BOA standards and are illegible. Pre-populated stickers could aid in achieving 100% legibility and 100% risk inclusion. The stickers will be implemented in other trusts and methods to increase compliance with sticker use will be trialled.

The volcanics of the Navysh complex of the Lower Riphean Ai Formation in the Southern Urals are well studied petrochemically and dated by several methods. In 2013 zircons from a trachybasalt porphyrite (sample 2152) gave a concordant SHRIMP date 1752±11 Ma, which was used as a fundamental for the lower boundary of the Riphean with no special arguments against it. The later attempts to repeat this date for the Navysh volcanics were not successful: the collected zircons were either more ancient (> 2500 Ma), or more young (< 500 Ma). From the beginning, the zircons with such ages were regarded as xenogenic or secondary metasomatic, or belonging to paleozoic dykes intruding the Riphean volcanics. However, the clearly expressed mineralogical properties of the Paleozoic zircons and their frequent presence in volcanics, not dykes, led to a conclusion that the zircons and Navysh volcanics, containing them, and exposed within the area of development of the Ai Formation, are polychronous. To support this conclusion, the authors studied in more detail the zircons of the Navysh trachybasalts, developed in the Ai Formation. The main conclusion, obtained from this new data, was that the volcanics attributed to the Navysh complex, form a polychronous system, including both the Lower Riphean (1750 Ma) and Paleozoic (450 Ma) rocks. The zircons of these age groups differ in their mineralogical and geochemical properties supporting the idea that they belong to different primary sources which may be due to repeating plume processes, which partly reanimated – heated and melted-rocks of the previous cycle and/or created new sources of melts.

This study aims to improve student completeness through inquiry learning models. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of stages which include: 1) planning; 2) implementation; 3) actions; 4) observation; and 5) reflection. Data collection techniques carried out by observation and tests. Data collection techniques using quantitative descriptive. The results of the study in the first cycle showed an increase in completeness of the initial conditions of students that is 72%, an increase of 20% from the previous, or there were 18 students who completed and the remaining 7 students were incomplete. Increased completeness in the first cycle has not yet reached the classical completeness that is ≥85%, so it needs to be continued to the second cycle. Actions in the second cycle are carried out based on the results of reflection in the previous cycle. After an improvement in cycle II, there was an increase in student completeness as many as 22 students who entered the complete category, or about 88% and the remaining 12% were incomplete. Achievement of completeness in the first cycle was 72%, and in the second cycle was 88%, resulting in an increase of 12%. Based on the achievements in the second cycle, it can be concluded that inquiry learning can improve student completeness.

Abstract We aimed to answer one key question, that was not previously addressed as to whether serum progesterone (P4-hCG day) and its co-variates (estradiol (E2-hCG day) and the number of retrieved oocytes) of a given cycle can be predictive of the subsequent cycle when both cycles are consecutive and comparable for the stimulation protocol, gonadotropin dose and duration of stimulation. We analyzed such 244 consecutive (< 6 months) IVF cycles in 122 patients with GnRH agonist long protocol and found that P4, E2 and the number of retrieved oocytes significantly vary between the two cycles. Although P4 increased (ranging from 4.7 to 266.7%) in the 2nd cycle in 61 patients, E2 and the number of retrieved oocytes, which are normally positively correlated with P4 paradoxically decreased in the 41% and 37.7% respectively, of these same 61 patients. When a similar analysis was done in the 54 out of 122 patients (44.3%) in whom serum P4 was decreased in the 2nd cycle, the mean decrease in P4 was − 34.1 ± 23.3% ranging from − 5.26 to − 90.1%. E2 and the number of retrieved oocytes paradoxically increased in the 42.3% and 40.7% of these 54 patients respectively. P4 remained the same only in the 7 (5.7%) of these 122 patients. These findings indicate that late follicular phase serum P4 may change unpredictably in the subsequent IVF cycle. The changes are not always necessarily proportional with ovarian response of previous cycle suggesting that growth characteristics and steroidogenic activities of antral cohorts may exhibit considerable cycle to cycle variations.

<p>Although famous as a favorite junior high school, mathematics is still a scourge for most students of SMPN 1 Madiun. As a result, students' mathematics learning achievement does not meet the KKM. The group investigation learning model is one alternative to improve student learning achievement. Classroom action research with the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting on each cycle is used to improve this situation. Planning is carried out according to the results of the identification and reflection of the previous cycle. Implementation according to plan. Observations are emphasized on the implementation of learning, increasing learning achievement, and student responses. Reflections are made to make the necessary improvements so that learning objectives are achieved. The results showed that students have positive attitudes and responses to mathematics learning with the group investigation model on the subject of Social Arithmetic. Mathematics learning achievement of students of class VII B of SMP Negeri 1 in 2018/2019 in the subject of Social Arithmetic by using a group investigation model increased with an average value of 81.5 so that it was categorized quite well. Teachers can use the group investigation model as an alternative to improving students' mathematics learning achievement.</p>
