This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol and water extracts of celery (Apium graveolens L.). Antioxidant activity test in this study used DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazine) as a source of free radicals and vitamin C as a positive control. The antioxidant activity of celery extracts was analyzed using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Celery powder was extracted by firstly the maceration method using different solvents (ethanol and water) and secondly with the decoction method using water solvents. Celery extract was tested for antioxidant activity with various concentrations of 20, 40, 60, and 80 ppm. The results obtained that water extract (maceration) had a very strong antioxidant power with 23.713 ppm of IC50 values, for ethanol extract (maceration) had a strong antioxidant power with 59.492 ppm of IC50 value, water extract (dekok) had also a very strong antioxidant with 77.446 ppm of IC50 value, and vitamin C had a very strong antioxidant power with 15.631 ppm of an IC50 value. Based on the IC50 value obtained, the water extract by the maceration method was very good to be used as a source of natural antioxidants, because it had a very strong antioxidant activity value which was equivalent to vitamin C.

ABSTRACT Has done research about antioxidant activity of suweg tuber (Amorphophallus campamulatus) based on the level of polar solvent. This research begins with in phased maceration extraction using n-hexane, ethyl acetate dan ethanol. Next step was antioxidant activity test with tyocyanate to n-hexane extract and DPPH methods to ethanol extract, ethyl acetate and vitamin C. The result showed antioxidant activity in n-hexane extract i.e. 14,96 %, end 77,13 % BHT while in ethyl acetate, ethanol and vitamin C reached IC50 value are 458,102 ppm, 223,268 ppm dan 26,76 ppm. ABSTRAK Sistem antioksidan merupakan bagian dari sistem kekebalan tubuh yang mampu menghambat reaktifitas radikal bebas. Sumber alami antioksidan salah satunya adalah buah yaitu buah mangga Arumanis. Proses fraksinasi dengan pelarut dietileter dilakukan untuk menyari senyawa-senyawa yang bersifat semipolar yang diharapkan memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan fraksi dietil eter ekstrak etanol buah mangga arumanis (Mangifera indica L.) dengan Metode DPPH. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%, kemudian dipartisi cair-cair menggunakan pelarut dietil eter. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH dengan membuat seri konsentrasi fraksi dietil eter ekstrak etanol buah mangga Arumanis yaitu 12,5; 25; 50 dan 100ppm. Vitamin C digunakan sebagai larutan pembanding dengan seri konsentrasi 0,625; 1,25; 2,5 dan 5 ppm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi dietil eter ekstrak etanol buah mangga arumanis memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 75,22 ppm dan 1,18 ppm untuk Vitamin C. Fraksi dietileter ekstrak etanol buah mangga Arumanis memiliki potensi lemah sebagai antioksidan jika dibandingkan dengan Vitamin C. Source of natural antioxidants is a fruit that is mango Arumanis. Process of fractionation with solvent diethylether to extraction the compounds semipolar and expected to have potential as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango (Mangifera indica L.) with DPPH method. Extraction used ethanol 70% by maceration method, then partitioned using a liquid-liquid partition with diethylether as a solvent. Determination of antioxidant activity using DPPH method with a series of concentrations of diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango ie 12.5; 25; 50 and 100ppm. Vitamin C used as a reference solution with a concentration series of 0,625; 1.25; 2.5 and 5 ppm. The results showed that the diethyl ether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango have antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 7.22 ppm and 1.18 ppm for Vitamin C. Diethylether fraction of ethanol extract Arumanis mango has weak potential as a antioxidant, if compared with Vitamin C. Ficus elastica leaf is one of the Ficus species assumed to be rich in polyphenols so that it can act as an antioxidant. The research aimed to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of methanol and water extracts of rubber leaf. In this research, the extraction was conducted by maceration using methanol and obtained the yield value of 7,03%, while the infundation using water obtained the yield value of 2,82%. The antioxidant activity test was conducted by DPPH free radical scavenging (1,1-diphenyl-2-phycrilhydrazyl) using a quercetin comparator. The qualitative tests were conducted by TLC method using dicloromethane:methanol eluent with a ratio of 99:1 for methanol extracts, and a ratio of 95:5 for water extracts, where all extracts of both methanol and water positively container antioxidants characterized by the formation of yellow spots with a purple background on TLC plates. The results of the quantitative test shower that the methanol extract had medium antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 78,39 µg/mL, and water extract had an inactive antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 319,11 µg/mL. While quercetin was classified as a very strong antioxidant with an IC50 value of 7,62 µg/mL.

This study aims to find the treatment of diabetes using natural materials by exploring plants in the province of East Nusa Tenggara. his research was conducted out by extracting the Strychnos nitida G.Don stem using a method of maceration by ethanol 70%. Ethanol extract was then fractionated using n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Simplicia from maceration and fractionation results were then tested for antioxidant activity, α-glucosidase inhibition activity and identification of active compounds. The results showed that ethyl acetate fraction had the lowest IC50 value of 86.83 μg / ml. Results of the α-glucosidase activity test showed that ethyl acetate fraction and n-heksan fraction at 900 ppm had the highest percentage of inhibition of 34.23% and 33.89%. Identification using LCMS/MS method showed that ethyl acetate fraction consist of Benzenemethamine, N, N-dioctyl- as an antioxidantcompound and compound 24-methyl-5-cholestone-hexol as an antidiabetic compound. From the results of this study, we concluded that the extract of kayu ular Strychnos nitida G.Don stem has inhibition activity toward α-glucosidase enzyme.

Wualae (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M Smith) is one of the plants in the Zingiberaceae family, widely used in medicine ranging from rhizomes, fruits, and flowers. Empirically Wualae are usually used by people for treating skin diseases, flavoring food, a natural soap, and in Southeast Sulawesi, it is used to treat typhoid fever. This study aims to examine the antioxidant activity of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) plant. The plant extracts were extracted by maceration method, antioxidant activity test was performed by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that ethanol extracts of fruits, leaves, stems and rhizomes of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) has the potential antioxidant activity with the IC50 values of 72.518 mg/L, 99.890 mg/L, 52.345 mg/L and 58.638 mg/L, respectively. and Vitamin C has IC50 value of 3,787 mg/L.

Moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leaves contains many molecules as inhibitors for free radicals such as phenolic compounds (phenolic acids, flavonoids, quinones, coumarins, lignans, stilbenes, tannins), nitrogen compounds (alkaloids, amines, betalain), vitamins, terpenoids (including carotenoids), and several other endogenous metabolites as antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant potency of water and ethanol extracts of moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leave obtained by maceration and dekok. The concentration of free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer after addition of various concentrations of Moringa leaves extracts. Various concentrations of moringa leave extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm and 80 ppm. Vitamin C solutions as the positive control were prepared on similar various concentrations. The negative control was prepared using DPPH solutions dissolved in absolute ethanol. The results indicated that the ethanol extract of moringa leaves prepared by maceration method showed the antioxidant potency with an IC50 value of 22.1818 ppm, but the IC50 value of water extract of moringa leaves prepared by dekok was 57.5439 ppm. While, the IC50 value of Vitamin C was 8.8084 ppm. Based on the IC50 data it can be concluded that Vitamin C is a stronger antioxidant than moringa leaves extracts.

Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense L.) is a plant that can be used for treatment. Antioxidants have the activity to reduce free radical compounds which is one of the causes of the emergence of various diseases in humans. The purpose of this study to determine the comparison of methods of maceration and socletation extraction of antioxidant activity of malay apple leaf. Research stages include sampling, plant determination, making of simplisia, maceration extraction and socletation with 70% ethanol solvent and determine the antioxidant activity by UV-Vis spectrophotometry with DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) as free radical. The parameter is IC50 value that is the concentration of antioxidant compound which can cause 50% loss of DPPH free radical activity. Although both methods show very strong antioxidant activity, it can be concluded that the difference in extraction methods has an effect on the antioxidant activity produced. The results of antioxidant activity test showed that socletation methods gave an average IC50 value of 37.67 ppm, this value is higher than maceration methods with an average IC50 value of 47.80 ppm. Malay apple leaf has the potential as a natural antioxidant, although it has a lower IC50 value than vitamin C which is 9.72 ppm.

Free radicals are one of the cause of various diseases. The use of synthetic antioxidant compounds could prevent the effect of the free radicals, however may cause adverse effects on the human body such as impaired liver, lung, intestinal and poisoning. Therefore antioxidant from natural resources needs to be developed. The purpose of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxbs.) leaves. Ganitri leaf ethanol extract activity test was carried out using DPPH method with vitamin C as a standard. Antioxidant activity was determined as a decreas in the absorbance of DPPH at 517 nm wavelength after an addition of the extract with the concentrations of 20, 40, 80, and 100 ppm. The antioxidant acitivity measurement of the ganitri leaf extract showed that the linier regression equation obtained was y = 0.3669x + 29.546, r = 0.4573 while the IC50 value was 54,12 ppm. Based on the result, it is concluded that the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) leaf showed was categorized as strong antioxidant.

The aim of this study is determine the IC50 extracts values of white peel and flesh of red watermelon, white peel and flesh of yellow watermelon as antioxidants. To determine antioxidant activities DPPH reagent was used as well as UV-Vis Spectrophotometry was used to measure vitamin C as a positive control measurement. The samples mixed with ethanol in various concentration of 5, 15, 25 and 35 mg/L. The results showed that the IC50 values for each extract of red watermelon flesh, yellow watermelon flesh, white peel of red watermelon, and white peel of yellow watermelon were 16.619 mg/L, 16.575 mg/L, 14.729 mg/L, and 16.782 mg/L, respectively. Vitamin C as the positive control has IC50 value of 9.526 mg/L. These IC50 values showed that vitamin C had higher antioxidant activity than watermelon extracts, but the extracts of watermelon still categorized in strong natural antioxidants. This study concluded that watermelon is good to be consumed because it is a very strong antioxidant.

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang skrining fitokimia dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dari daun nasi (Phrynium capitatum) dengan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil). Skrining fitokimia meliputi pengujian alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid, triterpenoid dan fenolik. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan penambahan 2 mL larutan DPPH dengan 0,5 mL larutan ekstrak dengan konsentrasi masing-masing 1000, 750, 500 dan 250 µg/mL. Data yang diproleh kemudian digunakan untuk menghitung nilai IC50 dari ekstrak etanol daun nasi. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun nasi mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan fenolik. Ekstrak etanol daun nasi memiliki aktivitas antioksidan trrtinggi pada konsentrasi 1000 µg/mL sebesar 65,77 % dan semakin menurun aktivitasnya dengan berkurangnya konsentrasi ekstrak, konsentrasi 750, 500 dan 250 µg/mL masing-masing sebesar 53,96 %, 43,8 % dan 19,58 % dengan nilai IC50 pada konsentrasi 701,78 µg/mL.A research on phytochemicals screening and antioxidant activity test of daun nasi (Phrynium capitatum) using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method had been conducted. Test for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, triterpenoids and phenolic were included in phytochemical screening. Antioxidant activity was tested through the addition of 2 mL DPPH solution into 0.5 mL of the extract having a concentration of 1000, 750, 500 and 250 µg/mL respectively. The data obtained was used to calculate the IC50 value for the ethanol extract of daun nasi. The results showed that the ethanol extract of daun nasi contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids and phenolic. Ethanol extract of daun nasi has the highest antioxidant activity of 65.77% at concentration of 1000 µg/mL. Its activity decreased with decreasing concentration of the extract, which were 53.96 %, 43.8 % and 19.58 % at concentration of 750, 500 and 250 µg/mL respectively. IC50 values was found at a concentration of 701.78 µg/mL.
