The integration of Ukraine into the European community is impossible without changes in the education sphere. The implementation of such projects of the European Union as "Horizon 2020” provides the collaboration between experts in Agriculture and Engineering. The results of the questionnaire conducted by “Agro Survey” agency showed the lack of student’s practical knowledge in Ukrainian Engineering and Agricultural universities. It is obvious that the quality of education in Ukrainian technical universities doesn't meet the requirements of the European labour market. Getting theoretical knowledge has no value until students can apply it for practical purposes. We suggest that a subject like Physics should be practice-oriented. If the Physics course at technical universities integrates theory with practice, students will be better prepared for their future career. The purpose of the study is to define the basic principles of professional competence as the key factor for improving the quality of future engineer’s training in the process of studying Physics. To select and interpret the factual material, concepts and theories the theoretical analysis of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical literature on research was used in the paper. The pedagogical experiment was carried out on the basis of 4 universities in different regions of Ukraine and involved 159 respondents (151 students and 8 university teachers). To determine the strategies for implementation of the profession-based tasks in Physics course we carried out specially designed questionnaires for students majoring in Agrarian Engineering and university teachers. One of the necessary conditions for future engineer training is professional orientation in studying. We suppose that to consider the relationship between a comprehensive Physics course and the disciplines of professional and practical training the in-depth analysis should be performed. First of all, it will help to determine Physics knowledge, abilities and skills that should be used in student’s further professional training. Second of all, it will enable the most effective use of engineering-based tasks in Physics classes. However, knowledge of basic Engineering and General Theoretical subjects is not applied by the students of Technical High School for a long-period of university study. The results of the survey have shown that studying major subjects at a later stage doesn’t motivate students to learn Natural Science and Engineering disciplines. We can conclude that profession-based tasks in Physics class contribute to the formation of a system of natural knowledge, practical skills and abilities. They stimulate the students’ cognitive interest in Physics as a science, help to better absorb material of other disciplines, develop creative abilities and influence the formation of persistent motifs for obtaining knowledge of professional disciplines.

Abstract The empirical study deals with the topic of teaching intercultural communicative competence (ICC) in Czech lower-secondary German classes. The aim of the study is to investigate the quantity and quality of the opportunities to develop ICC, the proportion of activities aimed at developing the cognitive, affective, and behavioural component of ICC, the proportion of activities focused on Big-C Culture and small-c culture and culture-general and culture-specific topics. The introductory part and the following part of the study introduce its theoretical background, and terminology is then followed by the methodological part describing the sample (28 German lessons of 7 teachers videotaped in the 8th and 9th grades of Czech lower-secondary classes at seven schools in Jihomoravský region within the IRSE Video Study of German1 project), the way of processing the data (recording, transcription, coding), the research questions and a system of categories (a system for assessing teaching ICC), that was used for analyses of the videotaped lessons. The findings show that emphasis is put on the cognitive component of ICC, while the other components (behavioural and affective) stay at the background. These results are consistent with the results of the IRSE Video Study of English project (Zerzová, 2012), which has the potential of initiating discussion for both English and German language teaching methodologies.

In this paper fuzzy logic was applied to the Taguchi method to design the dimensional tolerances of a six-bar hinge mechanism with multiple performance characteristics (MPC). A fuzzy logic system was used to determine the relationship between the S/N (signal to noise) ratios of the position and the angle error for assessing the level of importance of each control factor in the hinge mechanism. The contribution of each control factor to the variations was also quantified through the response table and response diagram and the key dimensions found to significantly affect the quality of the mechanism were r4, β, r1 and r5, which contributed 67.77% of the total product variation. It followed therefore that in order to improve the quality of the mechanism the tolerance of these factors must be tightened. Through a series of confirmation experiments, it was revealed that tightening the tolerance resulted in an increase in the multiple performance index (MPI) by 0.094, which was an increase of 19.87% of the initial value.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provide a needed and necessary service in the healthcare industry worldwide. However, many EMS agencies find themselves understaffed to fill the needs of the communities they serve. As a result, this can lead to decreases in the quality of service provided in times of emergencies. Simultaneously, technology is advancing in driverless vehicles which pose the question of the possibility of building driverless ambulances and if so, patients’ willingness to ride in them. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine patients’ willingness to ride in an ambulance operated autonomously as opposed to one driven by a human. Affect measures were collected to determine if affect mediated the relationship between willingness to ride and the type of ambulance configuration. The research used a three-study approach to answer the research questions. First, a general scenario was used to examine patient's willingness to ride in an ambulance based on a human or driverless condition. In Study 2, the affect was implemented to serve as a mediator between the type of operator, human or driverless. In Study 3, the researchers used the six universal facial expressions to determine if specific emotions could be identified as mediators between the condition and willingness to ride score. Through the three studies, the findings indicated that patients were less willing to ride in the scenario where the ambulance was operated autonomously than in the traditional configuration. A significant interaction was found between gender and type of ambulance configuration, where females were less willing to ride in the autonomous ambulance than males. Affect was found to act as a mediator between willingness to ride and the type of ambulance. Additionally, through the use of the six universal facial expressions, it was determined that the mediating emotions for males were fear and happiness, and the mediating emotion for females was anger. In general, participants were not willing to ride in driverless ambulances; however, this finding is also limited by the hypothetical scenario posed in this study which was the need to be transported to the hospital due to phoning 911 in an emergency. Additional research should investigate how patients would feel about riding in a driverless ambulance based on the type of condition as it is possible the willingness to ride may be different in a non-emergency scenario. There may also be other factors that could predict a patient’s willingness to ride in a driverless ambulance. In summary, while driverless technology is becoming a near-term possibility, further research is needed into whether patients would be willing to accept this technology for usage.

Abstract In health promotion, the partnership between researchers and practitioners (field actors) is necessary for multiple reasons: to build intervention research together, to share our knowledge and experience, to produce new knowledge and experience, and to improve the quality of interventions, decisions... and research. In order to build this partnership and to achieve these goals, two dimensions were explored during several mixed workshops (researchers and field actors) organized in Brittany (France): their reciprocal perceptions, and what they can mutually bring to each other. During the first workshop, a facilitation technique called “the figure,” (which health educators use when they need to underscore the perceptions of a group of professionals about a specific population) shed light on mutual misconceptions and helped rectify them. During the following workshops, both groups identified their common assets, resources, difficulties and stakes. They also highlighted what they could bring to each other. Indeed, the relationship between researchers and field actors is usually considered in terms of the contributions of research to actions. However, field actors are more than simple “users” of a knowledge produced by others, they are also “producers’ of knowledge. They can contribute to define research questions, issues, hypotheses (with a social twist...); challenge the relevance and feasibility of research; promote the link and the understanding between the two separate worlds of practice and research; encourage the making of certain research protocols; facilitate experimentation; check the validity of the research projects in terms of social usefulness; make research more visible to field professionals and policy makers; and support knowledge transfer and exchange. The ways in which the partnership between researchers and health promotion actors actually enrich both categories of professionals, are detailed in this presentation. Key messages Reciprocal representations of researchers and practitioners in the field of health promotion must be highlighted to lay the foundations of their partnership. In health promotion, knowledge transfer must be understood as an exchange between researchers and field actors, the latter being experts in their domain of intervention and producers of knowledge.
