Endometrial cancer (EC) remains one of the most common cancers of the female reproductive system. Epidemiological and clinical data implicate insulin resistance (IR) and its accompanying hyperinsulinemia as key factors in the development of EC. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short molecules of non-coding endogenous RNA that function as post-transcriptional regulators. Accumulating evidence has shown that the miRNA expression pattern is also likely to be associated with EC risk factors. The aim of this work was the verification of the relationships between IR, EC, and miRNA, and, as based on the literature data, elucidation of miRNA’s potential utility for EC prevention in IR patients. The pathways affected in IR relate to the insulin receptors, insulin-like growth factors and their receptors, insulin-like growth factor binding proteins, sex hormone-binding globulin, and estrogens. Herein, we present and discuss arguments for miRNAs as a plausible molecular link between IR and EC development. Specifically, our careful literature search indicated that dysregulation of at least 13 miRNAs has been ascribed to both conditions. We conclude that there is a reasonable possibility for miRNAs to become a predictive factor of future EC in IR patients.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a disease that affects over 9% of the United States population and is closely linked to obesity. While obesity was once thought to stem from a sedentary lifestyle and diets high in fat, recent evidence supports the idea that there is more complexity pertinent to the issue. The human gut microbiome has recently been the focus in terms of influencing disease onset. Evidence has shown that the microbiome may be more closely related to T2DM than what was originally thought. High fat diets typically result in poor microbiome heath, which then shifts the gut into a state of dysbiosis. Dysbiosis can then lead to metabolic deregulation, including increased insulin resistance and inflammation, two key factors in the development of T2DM. The purpose of this review is to discuss how microbiome relates to T2DM onset, especially considering obesity, insulin resistance, and inflammation.

COVID-19 has changed the way we live to the extent of many choices in our lives. Physical distancing measurement that took place months, followed by restriction to travel, to reduce mobility, has been gradually implemented by the government of Indonesia. The e-wallet transaction by volume during the pandemic accounts for 1,7 million times with 67 total users in Indonesia. This study is comprehensive on previous research on 2020 with a smaller sample. This research is aimed to find out 1) the usage intensity of e-wallet amongst them and 2) to understand the underlying factors of using such e-wallet. The data is collected by interviewing 100 students in Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. The data was then analyzed using NVIVO and interpreted using content analysis to reach the objective of this research. It is found out that 1) undergraduate students use it quite frequently, and 2) three key factors as the determining factors, namely practicality efficiency, and discount. This research aims to contribute to the digital payment literature and future research agenda on e-wallet amongst undergraduate students during pandemic and post-pandemic.

Even though the study of polymers is included in the school secondary curriculum in Spain, all the signs are that this topic is not being adequately addressed in the classroom. For this reason, this paper focuses on two key factors for polymers teaching and learning at secondary level: teachers and textbooks. A qualitative methodology, based on semi-structured interviews and a content analysis of textbooks, has been used. Six High School teachers have participated in this research. Attempts have been made to find out teachers' opinion about introducing contents of polymers in the classroom by means of semi-structured interviews. The content analysis of textbooks used in many schools of Spain has been carried out through the application of a assessment questionnaire. The results obtained as regards the polymers suggest that: a) Teachers provide only a limited amount of time for this topic in the curriculum; b) Textbooks do not include a large part of basic contents; and c) The low level of knowledge of students is justified by a) and b).

Most ecotourism studies in the past have examined tourist perceptions on tour guides’ performance. However, there has been little research investigating ecotourism in relation to the practices of guided tours. This paper, therefore, aims to examine tourist perceptions of different guided ecotourism tours and their contribution to sustainability. Data were collected from three companies with six guided tours through tour observation, interviews and surveys in the southern region of Thailand. For the survey, data were collected from 183 voluntary respondents who joined the guided tours. Content analysis, descriptive statistics, and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results indicate that certain ecotourism principles were implemented in the guided tours. In particular, tourists perceived that the practices of guided tours and their contribution to the local area were different from one another, depending on the type of tour. Not only do the findings of the study provide new insights into the typology of ecotourism activities, but they also yield a better understanding of the key factors contributing to tourists’ ecotourism experience and local benefits. Recommendations in relation to tour design, tourist activities and staff training are discussed to enhance ecotourism-related benefits for local communities.

Taiwan has been nearly 40 years of history in developing B&B, and has accumulated rich experience in B&B development and management. While B&B history is much shorter in mainland China, there is a gap of industry matureness between two sides. Therefore, it is of great practical significance for the development of B&B in mainland China to systematically discuss the quality of B&B in Taiwan. This study extracted 24 B&B cases in Taiwan from Agoda website, based on stratified sampling method, and classified and assigned values according to the quality evaluation index and coding standard with content analysis method. Finally, the paper obtained the key factors of the quality of the B&B based on the evaluation of indicators at all levels, and got the correlation analysis results: cost performance and fitment time are positively correlated to the quality of the B&B while guestroom number is negatively correlated to the quality of the B&B.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent hormonal disorder connected to ovulatory infertility and recent research indicates that different diets alter the risk of developing PCOS. Insulin resistance (IR) is one of the key pathologies which classifies PCOS. Understanding the etiology leading to IR in PCOS patients and the disorders associated with IR can allow for a therapeutic measure to be put in place to counteract the etiology and even reduce the risk of developing the disorder. Objective: The objective of this review is to identify the key factors that lead to IR so that diet and other lifestyle aspects can be used to counteract PCOS Symptoms.Design: A total of 679 studies were taken into consideration for this review, however, I performed a literature review of 75 primary papers. Data and findings from these studies were used to gain a better understanding of the dietary etiology of IR in PCOS, and this information can be used to describe a specific diet to counteract its etiology. Results: Many symptoms and disorders in the biological pathway of PCOS is associated with IR. Clinical studies have established that an increase in carbohydrates, low-density lipoproteins, and triglycerides is associated with IR in PCOS patients. Similar studies have found that a decrease in dietary proteins (especially branched chain amino acid intake), lactate, phosphatidylcholine, high-density lipoproteins, and long-chain fatty acids are also associated with PCOS patients. The drug metformin has also been associated with ameliorating many of the negative impacts imposed by IR in PCOS patients. Addressing these factors and changing diet and lifestyle (such as increased exercise) can help reduce the IR-related effects in PCOS patients.

Managing and measuring value co-creation in industrial services are emerging themes from the perspective of industry and scientific research. Thus, this chapter aims to review the literature in order to identify the criteria for value co-creation management and measuring used to measure value co-creation in the industrial service ecosystem. To achieve this goal, the authors conducted a systematic literature review and a content analysis of the portfolio resulting from the review. Based on the findings, eight criteria were listed for managing value co-creation in the B2B (business-to-business) services sector. In addition, they identified a lack of limited integration and interdependence between the criteria shown in the literature for cooperative service management among companies.

There has been a decline in children’s use of active school transportation (AST) while there is also limited research concerning AST in winter conditions. This study aimed to explore the prerequisites and experiences of schoolchildren and parents participating in an empowerment- and gamification-inspired intervention to promote students’ AST in winter conditions. Methods: Thirty-five students, who were aged 12–13 years, and 34 parents from the north of Sweden participated in the study. Data were collected using photovoice and open questions in a questionnaire and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The results show that involvement and togetherness motivated the students to use AST. In addition, during the project, the parents changed to have more positive attitudes towards their children’s use of AST. The students reported that using AST during wintertime is strenuous but rewarding and imparts a sense of pride. Conclusion: Interventions for increasing students’ AST in winter conditions should focus on the motivational aspects for both children and parents. For overcoming parental hesitation with regards to AST during winter, addressing their concerns and empowering the students are key factors. To increase the use of AST all year around, targeting the challenges perceived during the winter is especially beneficial.
