Waste is one of the major problems in Sei Sembilang, a hamlet located in the Berbak-Sembilang National Park (BSNP) area. The area is difficult to reach, and to date, there is no effective waste management system applied. Waste management cannot be separated from the involvement of men and women; hence, a model that can accommodate the community’s interests and how gender plays a role in that model is needed. This study aims to develop an appropriate gender-based waste management model to overcome these problems. The study was conducted using mixed methods of Sequential Explanatory. Quantitative data were analyzed through 3 stages: editing, coding, and tabulation in tables and diagrams. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively through 3 stages, that are reduction, presentation, and verification. The results showed that the community’s knowledge and attitudes, both men and women, were relatively high, but not accompanied by their behavior. Women tend to have a higher level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior than men. The waste management model that can be developed is an integrated waste management model that can accommodate all society levels. This model divides roles between the community, government, and the private sector. In this model, women have a more significant role in separating waste and recycling plastic waste into handicraft products. Men play a role in transporting and processing plastic waste into economically valuable plastic raw materials.Keyword: Berbak-Sembilang National Park, gender, waste management model

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a continuous development program which 17 destinations.This research was conducted in District Krembangan Surabaya, the goal is to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of public in waste management activities and the role of government in waste management activities. The determination of the respondents were selected by a procedure in the Study of Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA). The data obtained from interviews and observations will be entered into the software EHRA, then processed using Microsoft Excel. The results of this study include the management of household waste, the frequency and accuracy of transporting waste and waste sorting activities. 89% of respondents are already carrying out waste management by means of collected and discharged intotemporary landfill. Waste hauling was done in a regular frequency, as much as 14% respoden have done sorting waste at home before being dumped intotemporary landfill.

The purpose of the study: to determine the correlation ofmother's level of knowledge about hiperbilirubin with attitudes and behavior sunning babyThe subjects were all mothers with babies 0-6 months in the Village Sangkrah as manyas 45 people. This research method of bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank,multivariate analysis with Pearson Correlation to find the correlation of three variables: thelevel of knowledge of mothers about hiperbilirubin with attitudes and behavior in infantssunning.The results of the bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank with α = 5% (0.05) wasobtained p <0.001 to p <0.05, which means that the hypothesis is accepted, there is acorrelation the level of knowledge about hiperbilirubin with the attitudes and behaviorsunning baby in village Sangkrah. Multivariate statistical test using Pearson Correlation α= 5% (0.05) was obtained p <0.001 for the correlation between knowledge with attitude,either correlation knowledge with behavioral or correlation between attitudes withbehavioral earn p <0.05. Plastic waste pollution in marine environments is considered a major environmental problem in coastal areas. Relative environmental problems are also recorded in protected wetlands. The National Park of Amvrakikos Wetlands, one of the largest wetlands of Greece, is studied in order to evaluate the influence of plastic waste in the protected area and its surroundings, according to the stakeholders’ views. The survey applied using the method of census addressing the key stakeholders in the area of interest and the use of a questionnaire; the data analyzed with the Statistical Package SSPS. The main findings reveal that waste management is not considered satisfactory in the broader area. Marine litter, pollution, overfishing, ecosystem degradation, agriculture and livestock activities, as well as the insufficiency of the municipal solid waste management and recycling system are listed as the most important environmental problems of the coastal area. The stakeholders’ participation is regarded as crucial for effective decision making. Therefore, special strategies should be designed involving Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to widely address the local communities and increase their awareness on the problem in order to reduce plastic waste pollution. It should be noted that environmental conditions are closely affiliated with the citizens’ quality of life.

Environmental issues are problems that arise from the results of greedy human activities in exploiting nature. Many environmental issues have made humans vulnerable to disasters. The utilization of energy resources carried out by humans today results in air pollution, the greenhouse effect, and global warming. The environment becomes degraded due to human activation, a degraded environment will only have a negative impact on human life. This article discusses human knowledge and attitudes towards environmental issues. Environmental knowledge is general knowledge about facts, concepts, or relationships related to the surrounding environment and its ecosystem. Every human being has different environmental knowledge because it is influenced by factors of education, experience, information, the area of residence. Knowledge of the environment that humans have will support their environmental attitudes and behavior. Every environmental issue that occurs will bring up two kinds of attitudes in the community, namely positive and negative attitudes. Every attitude possessed by humans will determine what steps they will choose in facing environmental issues, such as turning off lights, turning off electronic equipment, choosing vehicles with minimal emissions.

Abstract: River pollution is a problem that threatens humans, animals and plant. River pollution is often associated with a lack of knowledge about river pollution issue. This issue is also linked to a lack of responsibility in managing the river. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge, attitude and behavior of the residents at River Terengganu. The approach adopted in this study is a quantitative-based on the survey method. The findings show that the level of knowledge, attitude and behavior of residents on the issue of river pollution is moderate. The findings showed that the mean of knowledge, attitudes and behavior are respectively 4.38, 4.72 and 4.70. In conclusion, the people who are living near the river play a major role in maintaining the river's sustainability. So deep understanding is needed as a basis for shaping people's attitudes and behaviors in order to conserve the river. This study has the potential to improve these three elements to face the river pollution issues. Pencemaran sungai yang berlaku banyak dikaitkan dengan kurangnya pengetahuan berkaitan isu pencemaran sungai. Bahkan isu ini turut dikaitkan dengan kurangnya sikap bertanggungjawab dalam menguruskan sungai. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti tahap pengetahuan, sikap dan tingkah laku penduduk di Sungai Terengganu. Pendekatan yang digunapakai dalam kajian ini adalah kaedah kuantitatif yang berasaskan kepada kaedah tinjauan. Instrumen yang digunapakai adalah borang soal selidik yang mengandungi empat bahagian. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap pengetahuan, sikap dan tingkah laku penduduk terhadap isu pencemaran sungai berada pada tahap yang sederhana. Hasil kajian mendapati min bagi pengetahuan, sikap dan tingkah laku adalah masing-masing 4.38, 4.70 dan 4.72. Kesimpulannya, masyarakat yang tinggal berhampiran sungai mempunyai peranan yang besar dalam menjaga kelestarian sungai. Maka pemahaman yang mendalam diperlukan sebagai asas untuk membentuk sikap dan tingkah laku masyarakat supaya memulihara sungai. Kajian ini berpotensi untuk meningkatkan ketiga-tiga elemen ini sekiranya berhadapan dengan isu pencemaran sungai. Kata kunci: Pengetahuan, Sikap, Tingkah Laku, Sungai Terengganu

Since water is an indispensable part of humanity, human communities settle near water sources, and one of the most popular water sources is a river. In the past millennial, around 80% of Javanese communities were located near rivers. However, traditional views, attitudes, and behavior during the development and urbanization era and lack of political will have compromised sustainable uses of rivers choked with pollution from industrial and neighborhood wastes. This paper will discuss the stories of pollution and waste management that have led to Indonesia being one of the most polluted nations by looking at traditional socio-cultural views of waste and rivers and efforts to deal with the problems of garbage. This study is mainly based on various data from previous research, NGO and government programs, and interviews with local community members and leaders. In addition to the challenges of garbage disposal and cleaning up Indonesian rivers, this study will conclude with suggestions on how to change people’s attitudes and behavior and government programs to create long-term sustainable and participative waste management efforts in Indonesia.

Environmental degradation is a major challenge which requires appropriate strategies to reverse the situation. One of such strategies is experiential environmental education among high school students who, through change of attitudes and behavior, are able to participate in various environmental management activities. In this study the pro-environmental attitudes and behavior of high school students in Murang’a County, Kenya were examined to assess how environmental education programmes among the students affected environmental issues of waste management, water resources management, natural resources management and climate change in the schools. Nine hundred and sixty-one (961) students from nineteen (19) high schools from two sub-counties in the County was used in the study. The Likert type questionnaire and the 2-MEV Scale were used to collect the required data. The t-test statistic was applied to determine any differences between the variables. Results showed significant differences in pro-environmental attitudes and behavior with regard to solid waste management, water resources management, natural resources management. There were significant differences with regard to solid waste management, natural resources management, climate change and environmental concerns between members of Environmental Clubs and non-members. Pro-environmental attitudes and behavior were influenced by current membership of the Clubs rather than past membership. It is concluded that experiential environmental programmes improve the student’s pro-environmental attitudes and behavior hence environmental management within the schools. It is recommended that appropriate policies be formulated to enhance the implementation of school experiential environmental programmes to ensure capacity building of the learners to effectively manage environmental issues in the schools.

Cervical cancer is one of the top cause mortality in female in Indonesia. Nowadays cervical cancer is the 2nd from 10 cancers with highest incidences in the country with 40.000 numbers of cases every year. Even in DKI Jakarta, the incidences of cervical cancer have reached 5919 cases per year. The symptoms of cervical cancer only occur when it is already in late stadium. Therefore, productive age female should aware to do VIA test routinely to prevent the cancer. However, productive age female awareness to do IVA test still low especially in low education country like Indonesia. This study aims are to see the relationship between knowledge with attitude, and behavior about VIA examination in married woman in Puskesmas Kecamatan Makasar, East Jakarta. This study is using cross-sectional method with 97 samples that are married woman that visit Puskesmas Kecamatan Makasar, East Jakarta, who passed the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Result: 66% of respondents have an average level of knowledge and only 5,2% who have a good level of knowledge about VIA test. The good attitude for doing VIA test was up to 47,4%, however the behaviour of doing VIA test shows different result that 79,40% have bad behaviour. There is no significant correlation between knowledge with attitude and behavior about VIA examination (p = 0,323; p = 0,217). From the study, there is no correlation between knowledge with attitude and behavior to do VIA examination.

A cross-temporal meta-analysis of 530 studies ( N = 269,649) showed that young people's sexual attitudes and behavior changed substantially between 1943 and 1999, with the largest shifts occurring among girls and young women. Both young men and women became more sexually active over time, as measured by age at first intercourse (decreasing from 19 to 15 years among young women) and percentage sexually active (increasing from 13% to 47% among young women). Attitudes toward premarital intercourse became more lenient, with approval increasing from 12% to 73% among young women and from 40% to 79% among young men. Feelings of sexual guilt decreased. The correlation between attitudes and behaviors was stronger among young women. These data support theories positing that culture has a larger effect on women's sexuality.

Abstract Background Climate change is one of the greatest global threats to humanity in the 21st century, and it is directly or indirectly caused by human activity. In view of the effects of climate change, it is important to examine the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of the public. A better understanding of these variables should improve the current debate on the impact of human behavior on environment and health. Methods In a cross-sectional study using an online questionnaire, 704 students were asked about their knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to climate change. The data were analyzed using correlations, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and linear regression models. Results We found that students have a medium level of knowledge about the impact of climate change and that their attitudes are moderately pro-environmental, yet they are not strict about pro-environmental behavior. Students with higher levels of environmental knowledge demonstrated more pro-environmental attitudes and behavior, and attitudes mediate the relationship between level of knowledge and behavior. Women demonstrated more pro-environmental behavior than did men, and computer science and management students have the highest levels of knowledge, while health sciences students hold the most positive attitudes and more pro-environmental behavior. Conclusions Our results highlight the importance of raising awareness of the effects of climate change and increasing knowledge about how climate change can be mitigated. To this end, an introductory course on environmental science should be integrated into various academic study programs. Further research is needed in order to understand the factors associated with pro-environmental behavior and how to promote it. Key messages Environmental behavior is a function of knowledge, skills, and values. Nevertheless, gaps might exist between social and environmental values that a person aspires to believe in and his/her behavior. Preferring the present over the future is a classic sustainability problem, as intentional sustainable behavior necessitates long-term thinking and gives precedence to future benefits.
