The study was focused on investigating the impact of different washing processes (dark shade, medium shade, light shade) on various properties of denim fabric. Two different types of fabrics with twill and dobby weave constructions were produced from cotton, spandex, and polyester yarn, and different types of washing processes were applied. Dimensional stability, tensile strength, tearing strength, EPI and PPI, weight, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration (acid and alkaline), and colorfastness to water was investigated and comparisons were made statistically between the before washed sample and after washed sample. It is found that the process result shows better tear and tensile strength in case of dark & medium shade wash than light shade wash. On the other hand, weight and EPI & PPI have shown better result for light wash than other wash. Colorfastness to rubbing, Colorfastness to water, and Colorfastness to perspiration (acid and alkaline medium) are similar. The shrinkage% is higher especially in the weft direction of the fabric for light wash than the dark wash.

The process of bleach washing on denim fabrics produces a paler or lighter shabby effect. The shabby effect is produced by using an oxidizing agent. The application of sodium hypochlorite can cause a decrease in color aging of denim fabrics and high tensile strength. The pH condition also affects the occurrence of oxycellulose damage which will affect the final result. Inappropriate pH will cause a very high oxidation process and produce a less shabby effect and can cause a decrease in tensile strength. Therefore, the concentration of NaOCl and pH must be adjusted properly so that optimal results are obtained. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of optimum concentration of sodium hypochorite (NaOCl) and pH on the physical properties of denim fabric. After the process of bleach washing process experiment was carried out, a test was carried out based on two-factor Anova statistical data and the optimum visual test fabric results were obtained at a NaOCl concentration of 2 g/L using alkaline pH (10-11). The test values were obtained as follows: color fastness to rubbing are 3-4 for dry, 2-3 for wet, tensile strength 67.4 kg in warp direction, 43.1 in weft direction, fabric stiffness in warp direction 430.48, weft direction 344.54. The factory standard for a tensile strength of 65 kg warp direction, 40 kg weft direction, color fastness to rubbing 3 for dry rubbing and 2 for wet rubbing. Keywords: bleach washing, denim, sodium hypochlorite, oxycellulose, color fastnes

The article reviews the research findings available on different types of glasses that presents potential use for high pressure gas hydrogen storage systems. An overview of the mechanical properties of different glasses, the influence of main constituents and the impact of defects to the strength of glass was presented. As part of this research, it can be concluded that the glass gets a significant improvement of tensile strength by reducing its dimensions to fibre sizes or capillaries due to reduced probability of defects presence.

AbstractNatural languages come in two different modalities – the aural-auditory modality of spoken languages and the visual-gestural modality of sign languages. The impact of modality on the grammatical system has been discussed at great length in the last 20 years. By contrast, the impact of modality on semantics in general and on ambiguities in particular has not yet been addressed in detail. In this paper, we deal with different types of ambiguities in sign languages. We discuss typical lexical and structural ambiguities as well as modality-specific aspects such as ambiguities in the use of the signing space and non-manual markers. In addition, we address the questions how sign languages avoid ambiguities and to what extent certain kinds of ambiguities and non-ambiguities depend on the visual-manual modality of sign languages. Since gestures use the same articulatory channel that is also active in the production of signs, we also discuss ambiguities between gestures on the one hand and grammaticalized gestures and signs on the other.

Requirements-to-code tracing is an important and costly task that creates trace links from requirements to source code. These trace links help engineers reduce the time and complexity of software maintenance. Code comments play an important role in software maintenance tasks. However, few studies have focused intensively on the impact of code comments on requirements-to-code trace links creation. Different types of comments have different purposes, so how different types of code comments provide different improvements for requirements-to-code trace links creation? We focus on learning whether code comments and different types of comments can improve the quality of trace links creation. This paper presents a study to evaluate the contribution of code comments and different types of code comments to the creation of trace links. More specifically, this paper first experimentally evaluates the impact of code comments on requirements-to-code trace links creation, and then divides code comments into six categories to evaluate its impact on trace links creation. The results show that the precision increases by an average of 15% (based on the same recall) after adding code comments (even for different trace links creation techniques), and the type of Purpose comments contributes more to the tracing task than the other five. This empirical study provides evidence that code comments are effective in tracing links creation, and different types of code comments contribute differently. Purpose comments can be used to improve the accuracy of requirements-to-code trace links creation.

In this study, the moisture, thermal, and tactile comfort properties of flax and hemp blended denim fabrics treated with selected common industrial washing treatments were analyzed. Being used recently in denim fabric production, four different types of flax and hemp blended fabrics in different compositions and a reference cotton fabric were produced in similar construction and treated with rinse, stone, and bleach washes. The impact of fiber composition and the washing treatments on comfort properties was analyzed statistically. The findings revealed that the blended fabrics had better moisture comfort properties and thermal resistance than the cotton fabrics. Moreover, their tactile comfort properties were within acceptable limits. The washing treatments improved the comfort properties of all fabrics in a similar way.

The significance of tumor spill in the early stages of ovarian carcinoma has been the subject of controversy. Since rupture of the capsule of the tumor may occur in several different ways, we analyzed all cases of early ovarian cancer treated at Radiumhemmet, Stockholm, Sweden, during the period 1974–1986, in which possible spill of tumor cells was catalogued in different groups. In 247 out of 394 patients (62%) the risk of spill had to be considered. There was no difference in survival between patients whose tumors had intact capsules and patients in whom rupture occurred during surgery—78% and 85%, respectively. On the other hand, a significant difference in survival was found between patients in whom rupture occurred before surgery and those with intraoperative rupture—59% and 85%, respectively. The conclusion can be drawn that manipulation during surgery which results in puncture or rupture does not have a negative influence on the outcome for the patients.

The DEA model is applied to analyze the operational efficiency of Taiwan's publicly-listed banks to reveal the influence of the rising non-performing loan ratio (NPLR) on Taiwan's banking industry. After taking into account the NPLR and the different classifications of banks, the respective performances of different types of banks exhibit the following variations and characteristics: the originally more-efficient new private banks significantly fell behind the old public banks in terms of efficiency scores after the NPLR was included. The old private banks' operational efficiency fell behind that of the other banks at all times. The productivity of all new private banks exceeded that of the other banks.

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) arise in older adults through the stepwise acquisition of multiple somatic mutations. The genetic heterogeneity that results includes mutations of diverse genes and their combinations, clonal hierarchy, genetic configuration (e.g., bi-allelic or compound heterozygous, hemizygous lesions), specific positions within a gene including canonical hotspots vs. other positions, and types of mutation (truncations vs. missense), all of which could differentially affect pathogenesis. Given the binary status (e.g. mutated vs. wild-type) used in many clinical analyses, the true impact of specific types of mutations may be obscured and their specific roles underestimated. Deep targeted NGS was carried out for a panel of the 36 most frequently mutated genes in 1,809 MDS patients (low-risk MDS (n=839) vs. high-risk MDS (n=607), MDS/MPN (n=212), and sAML n=151). Copy number alterations (CNA) were also evaluated by combining karyotyping, microarray, and digital copy number analysis. With a mean coverage of 862x, after removing SNPs and errors, 3,971 somatic mutations were identified, the most common (>10% of cases) being TET2, SF3B1, ASXL1, del(5q), SRSF2, complex karyotype, and del(7q). For the purpose of this proof of concept analysis we focused on illustrative genes (TP53, RUNX1, TET2, and EZH2) affected by 2 recurrent hits. Bi-allelic TET2 or TP53 mutations were found in 15% (271/1,809) and 4% (72/1,809) of patients, respectively. TET2 and RUNX1 were most likely biallelic, whereas TP53 and EZH2 were most often affected by mutations and somatic deletion. Comparing the distribution of canonical vs. other types of mutations in genes, DNMT3A mutations affected the canonical site (R882) in 17% (35/203) of patients, were truncating in 39% (79/203) and missense in 44% (89/203) have also been found; deletions affecting the DNMT3A locus are rare. Within U2AF1, U2AF1Q157 are more frequent than U2AF1S34 (54% vs. 35%). Next, we checked correlation between these different types of mutations of one gene. 78 significant combinations were found. For instance, U2AF1Q157 mutations more commonly accompanied ASXL1 mutations and del(7q) and less frequently DNMT3A and BCOR mutations, trisomy8 and del(20) when compared to U2AF1S34 mutations [ASXL1 mutations 53% (42/80) in U2AF1Q157 vs. 16% (8/49) in U2AF1S34, P < .0001]. TET2 Bi-allelic mutations were more commonly associated with ZRSR2 and SRSF2 mutations, and less frequently del(5q) when compared to TET2 mono-allelic mutations [SRSF2 mutations 29% (80/276) in TET2-bi vs. 15% (34/227) in TET2-mono, P = .003]. In addition, patients with SRSF2 missense mutations were more likely to have RUNX1 bi-allelic mutations than those with SRSF2 in-frame mutations. We evaluated the impact of different types of mutations and combinations of them on disease phenotypes and survival. We then evaluated the impact of different types of mutations and their combinations on clinical phenotypes including dichotomous morphological (MDS vs. MDS/MPN) features, progressive (low- vs. high risk) subtypes. EZH2 bi-allelic alterations were more commonly associated with myleoproliferative features` compared to EZH2 mono-allelic alteration (q=.016). TET2 bi-allelic alterations and truncating mutations were found more frequently in higher-risk subtypes than TET2 mono-allelic and missense mutations (q<.001). In survival analyses, patients with DNMT3AR882 mutations had a poorer prognosis than those with truncating and the other missense mutations [P = .033, HR 1.86 (1.05-3.3)]. Next, using the PyClone bioanalytic pipeline, we recapitulated for each patient the clonal hierarchy and defined "dominant" vs. "secondary" mutations. DNMT3AR882 mutations were likely to be dominant/founder lesions compared to truncating or the other missense mutations: 77% (27/35) for R882 vs. 51% (40/79) for truncating vs. 45% (47/98) for the other missense, p=.0046. Specific dominant and secondary mutational pairs also differentially affected survival compared to the reverse configuration (q<.1) including EZH2 and RUNX1 or BCOR and U2AF1 or RUNX1 and BCOR. In conclusion, we report a comprehensive analysis of various types and configurations of lesions of individual commonly affected genes. Our results indicate that establishment of clinical or phenotypic correlations requires consideration of the type, rank and configuration of somatic mutations. Meat is one of the basic foodstuffs, which in modern times arouses a lot of controversy. On the one hand, appreciates its nutritional values, especially the content high in protein, minerals and vitamins. On the other hand, it is considered that the excessive intake can contribute to the formation of civilization diseases. The aim of the article was to analyze the purchasing behavior of Polish consumers of fresh meat in general and pork, poultry and beef. Particular attention was paid to the choice of the place of purchase, the evaluation of the frequency of purchase, as well as the factors determining the choice of different types of meat by consumers. Also evaluated the impact of the manufacturer's decision-making by consumers purchase meat. It was found that regardless of the type of meat, increases the importance of specialist butcher shops. The analysis of association proved that consumers are making decisions about the purchase of meat draw attention primarily on its price, overall appearance and color.

Using laser beam as main heat source, and trailing arc as an assisted role, aluminum alloy was joined to galvanized steel in a butt configuration. Under suitable welding parameters, a sound welding seam was obtained. The interface intermetallic compounds layer and wetting behavior of weld joint were studied. The assisted arc can improve the wetting and spreading ability of weld pool duo to large temperature field. There are two different types of IMCs: near to the steel side one is Fe2Al5 with tooth-like shape and near to the weld seam side is the other one Fe4Al13 with flocculent-like shape. The highest tensile strength can reach 163 MPa when the fracture occurred at the weld seam.
