This research aims to analyze the effect of financing preference and the level of education of entrepreneurs on quintile of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) revenue in Indonesia. The data used in this research is IFLS data (Indonesian Family Life Survey) waves 4 and 5 with a total sample of 10,336 business units that meet the criteria. Considering the heterogeneous characteristics of the data and the presence of outliers, this study used quantile regression method with a level of confidence (∝=0.05). The results of the analysis show that the education level of entrepreneurs has a positive effect on MSEs revenue and the effect is stronger on the higher MSEs revenue quantile. Meanwhile, the financing preference from own capital generates lower income compared to external or combined sources of financing and the difference is greater in the higher MSEs revenue quintile. Keywords: Micro and small enterprises, level of education, financing preference, quantile regression

Access to finance is considered as very important for gaining high performance of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). Yet it has been observed that despite the availability of access to finance the performance of several MSEs is poor, which is a major hurdle in the growth rate of MSEs. The purpose of this study was to find the difference in certain performance indicators of MSEs who owners have been given training against those whose owners have never been given any kind of training. In order to conduct study survey research has been conducted and a sample of 384 MSEs was selected on simple random basis. The findings revealed that all the performance indicators including sales increase, income increase, assets increase, employment increase, and meeting household expenses have shown a significant difference among the two groups. The findings of the study are very important for the policy makers and the people who are involved in microfinance industry.

E-commerce arised from the greater demand experienced by companies and the need of their administration to make better use of information technology and to find a better way to adapt the new technologies, in order to improve the relationship between customer and supplier. In this scenario, from micro to large interprises could benefit by developing e-commerce strategies; in the mexican context, micro, small and médium enterprises represent more tan 90% of business units but show low preference for adopting e-commerce strategies. Based on the above, this study aims to detect which elements appart small enterprises from e-commerce. After applying a survey among 100 small enterprises, it was observed that the most important barriers were the high cost of implementation, lack of qualified personnel and lack of information.

According to theory and existing empirical results, heterogeneity in personal characteristics, with income variation being one of them, affects the marginal willingness to pay (WTP) for reducing fatal risk. In this study, the effect of income heterogeneity on the value of statistical life (VSL) in Taiwan through unconditional quantile regression analysis using the data collected by the “Manpower Utilization Survey” is investigated. The results of this empirical study show that the hedonic wage function that was constructed using empirical data from Taiwan was in line with the general form of non-linear function rather than the semi-log function that has been often used in previous studies, which should have great impact on the estimation of the VSL. The empirical results also show that the estimated VSL of Taiwanese labor varied with the difference in wages, which needs to be taken into account when discussing the public policies using VSL.

This study assesses the factors determining accounting recordkeeping practices among micro and small enterprises in Ethiopia's South Western Wollo region. It has been noted that, despite the enormous importance of accounting recordkeeping, the practice is still inadequate in micro and small businesses. This study used cross-sectional primary data collected from 343 micro and small enterprises. An ordered logistic regression analysis method was employed to analyze the explanatory variable's effect (education level, number of employees, frequency of transactions, size of the firm, and age of the firm) on micro and small enterprises' accounting practice. The study results show that the education level, the number of employees, the frequency of transactions, and the firm's size have a statistically significant and positive effect on the accounting practice of micro and small enterprises. On the other hand, the firm's age is found to have no statistically significant effect on micro and small enterprises' accounting practice. This study helps micro and small enterprises by showing the significant factors that affect their accounting practice and working towards better reporting and decision-making habits.

Quantile regression is a regression method with the approach of separating or dividing data into certain quantiles by minimizing the number of absolute values from asymmetrical errors to overcome unfulfilled assumptions, including the presence of autocorrelation. The resulting model parameters are tested for accuracy using the bootstrap method. The bootstrap method is a parameter estimation method by re-sampling from the original sample as much as R replication. The bootstrap trust interval was then used as a test consistency test algorithm constructed on the estimator by the quantile regression method. And test the uncommon quantile regression method with bootstrap method. The data obtained in this test is data replication 10 times. The biasness is calculated from the difference between the quantile estimate and bootstrap estimation. Quantile estimation methods are said to be unbiased if the standard deviation bias is less than the standard bootstrap deviation. This study proves that the estimated value with quantile regression is within the bootstrap percentile confidence interval and proves that 10 times replication produces a better estimation value compared to other replication measures. Quantile regression method in this study is also able to produce unbiased parameter estimation values.

<p>Direct normal irradiance (DNI) forecasts from two ensemble models, the global ECMWF-ENS and the limited area multimodel gSREPS, have been calibrated using the quantile regression method, taking DNI as the only input parameter to better understand the inner workings of the method. Forecasts for the southern part of Spain, with lead times up to 72 hours for ECMWF-ENS and 24 hours for gSREPS over a two-year period (from June 2017 to May 2019), have been used.</p><p>This study has focused on two particular aspects of the postprocess:</p><ul><li>The effect of quantile regression on the spread of the models. The results show that the spread of ECMWF-ENS greatly increases after the postprocess, which has a positive effect on the accuracy of the model, with an improvement of 20% in the continuous ranked probability score (CRPS) after the calibration. However, this increase is uniform over the whole period, affecting equally to situations with low or high spread, hence the postprocessed forecasts are not able to detect changes in predictability. On the other hand raw gSREPS forecasts behave better during episodes of both low or high predictability. The postprocess does not significantly change the spread and accuracy of gSREPS.</li> <li>The influence of the training sample. It has been found that DNI is a variable which can experience periods of low variability, particularly in regions like southern Spain, where long spells of sunny days are common. This has a sizeable impact on the performance of the quantile regression on certain days. Two study cases will be shown to illustrate this problem. Two possible solutions are proposed: use longer training periods (not always possible) or place restrictions on the value of the regression coefficients.</li> </ul>
