This project developed out of the intention to explore new ways of combining private and public spaces in an urban environment. It was felt that, in order for housing to truly become part of the city, it must engage itself with other functions on the ground plane. Thus, in developing this scheme of a mixture of residential, commercial, and recreational uses, it was decided to break from the typical urban pattern of public spaces on the lower levels and private spaces above. Instead, half of the ground plane was devoted to residential spaces grouped around semiprivate courtyards. The other half was assigned to large functions – a recreation center and a grocery store – which would be used not only by the residents of the development but also by members of the public who spend time downtown.

The election of regional leaders conducted directly by the community is believed to result in a democratic government. The formed government is expected to be more open, more responsive, and to carry out the aspirations of the people so that it can realize a government that comes from the people, by the people, and for the people. A person can nominate him/herself as a candidate for Regent or Deputy Regent if supported by some residents, by Political Parties or Combined Political Parties. The relatively weak support of the population or political parties or combined political parties has resulted in very few candidates for regent or deputy regent, even only one pair of candidates can occur as in Pati Regency. The study aims to know how the policy in the future (Prospective Model) should be taken so that the single-candidate for Regent or Deputy Regent in a general election does not happen. By using a sociological juridical approach, collecting primary and secondary data, processing and analyzing data, the objective of the study can be reached. The policy that needs to be taken by the government so that in the future there will be no single candidate is by giving obligations to political parties to conduct cadre recruitment to become candidates for regional leaders. Besides, the General Election Commission needs to make a scheme that is easier and more flexible for individual candidates regarding administrative requirements, procedures, and mechanisms for gathering support, and there needs to be a new policy so that the potential for a single-candidate can be eliminated or not occur.

Data from General Election Commission (KPU) said the 2009 election abstentions level is still relatively high , ie 49,212,161 non voters (29.1%) of the 176,411,434 voters. The low political participation of Indonesian society is caused by many cases convoluting political parties, the lack of potential figure of political parties, and the decline of the party's image. Research aims to find the 2014 election socialization efforts of the General Election Commission to reduce the level of abstentions and how the media shape public opinion to reduce the abstentees. Research used qualitative method with data collection through interview and literature. Data were analyzed with data reduction and triangulation. The study found the socialization media used for 2014 election were national and regional media socializing to various schools and universities in Indonesia. KPU also recruited agents of socialization in 2014, put up posters and banners, did activities along with agents of socialization, and increased the number of polling stations (TPS). KPU disseminated the information to the mass media to be publicized. The goal is to involve the community and to contribute to the success of the election. Electronic mass media need to make a program that helps the socialization of the election, for example having an open debate of all parties participating in the election in a special slot provided by the government then they explain the program and their pro-people commitments. As conclusions, the commission and the media have not been systematically designing programs that can persuade public to participate in the election of 2014. Research recommends the media to make a program that is interactive and engaging based on local tastes and culture to provide a common understanding about the 2014 election.

Background: Ensuring safety in the roadways is one of the critical tasks as crashes generally bourgeoning rapidly all over the world. Because the turning movements of vehicles are important to motorist safety, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT & PF) experimented with left-turn traffic signs at six signalized intersections in the city of Anchorage, Alaska. Objective: The study aims at evaluating effectiveness of the left turn signs and analyze severity of left turning crashes. Methods: Preliminary statistical analysis and Binomial Logistic regression are applied for analyzing the data. Results: Preliminary analysis of before (1994-1998) and after (2005-2012) crash frequency data showed a reduction of crashes at four of the six intersections studied per 1000 entering vehicles. An analysis of crashes per year indicated that left-turn crashes at five intersections declined significantly after 2009, showing an improvement in safety. Pavement markings with signage were vitally important in contributing to improve compliance rates. Covering the pavement markings with snow and ice in Alaska for long periods signify the importance of installation of left turn signage to reduce crashes at studied intersections. Logistic regression analysis revealed that improper turn and lane usage, careless driving and angle type crashes were the most significant factors contributing to PDO crashes. Dry pavement conditions as well as almost all day except evening peak and off peak period influence PDO crashes in Alaska. Conclusion: Left-turn signs were effective in reducing crashes, and proper maintenance of road markings as well as driver awareness increased the effectiveness of signage and level of safety for left turning vehicles.

<p>Accounting for Political Parties. Healthy political parties, credible and capable of running the General Election held in a democratic, honest and fair is the capital of democracy credible. Democracy is a credible government authorized the creation of a solid and authoritative with effective control of the institution legistalif. Credible democracy is not possible without transparency and clear accountability mechanisms for the financing of political activities, both financial and political party financing of the General Election. This financial accountability requires transparency of financial accounting standards for political parties, political party auditing guidelines, and the existence of guidelines, regulations, and procedures for financial reporting on the activities of the General Election campaign for political parties. One of the major problems that arise are the accounting standards. In the meantime, the existing accounting standards, namely Principle of Financial Accounting Standards 45, the accounting standards made for non-profit organization that Indonesia Institute of Accountants (IAI )is also used for political parties. (PSAK) 45 is not sufficient to accommodate the characteristics of different political parties with other nonprofit organizations. Therefore, this study recommends a modification or specific guidelines for financial accounting standard for political parties. This article we hope will encourage various parties, in this Parliament, the Commission, the Supreme Court and the Association of Accounting Indonesia to sit together and agree on specific accounting standards for political parties including campaign funds. In the article, we examine the phenomenon of short-term apartment rentals for tourists by the residents of the city of Baikalsk. The residents live in their apartments for the most part of their lives, but leave at the moment of the apartment’s rental. We base our analysis on the field studies (interviews and observations) conducted in Baikalsk in 2006–2016, as well as statistical data and Internet sources. In order to grasp the complexity of the studied phenomenon, the concept of heterotopia was chosen. This allowed us to overcome the “public/private” dichotomy in identifying the following features of the phenomenon of short-term rental: (1) the informal character of home rental; (2) the ability to associate in one place private and public spaces, traditionally perceived as incompatible; (3) network relations between tenants and hosts; (4) the emerging heterochrony as a result of apartment owners changing their habits and rituals when leaving their private space, while the tenants associate the rented space with recreation and entertainment. The home rental practice might be considered as an art of solving some practical problems. Such skills are especially relevant in case of societies undergoing transition from one state to another. In the globalizing world, almost all communities can be characterized as such to some degree.
