The aim of the study is to reveal the content of the structural components of managerial competence, determine the influence of certain pedagogical conditions on its formation among students during the training in the master's program in “socio-cultural management”, and experimental verification and quantitative analysis of these conditions. The object of the study is the process of personal-professional formation of master's students of the faculties of humanitarian management. The positive influence of high motivation on the level of managerial competence has been proved. It has been revealed that the value-motivational component has the least dependence on the duration of training.  The article offers effective conditions of forming managerial competence, which have been tested experimentally and confirmed the possibility of their introduction into practice.

One of the most important pedagogical tasks is the timely updating of the content of both the educational program, in general, and the work programs of disciplines (modules), according to the development trends of modern higher education and ongoing innovations in the professional field, for which a university graduate is preparing. The article is devoted to the consideration of the issue of selection of the content of foreign language training of master’s students of the educational direction. Based on the analysis of the requirements of the current legal documents, the main points of the language policy content in the field of domestic foreign language education (the introduction of competence-based, subject-activity and other approaches, the expansion of research activities, etc.) have been identified, which make it possible to justify the main selection criteria of the content of foreign language education at the university. As a result of the analysis of scientific literature, the concept of «content of education» and its components composition have been clarified. The list of professional tasks and typical communicative situations, ensuring the achievement of the results of mastering the content of the pedagogical master’s program (competencies, personal qualities), necessary for a modern teacher in the field of foreign language education, is given. In the conclusion, a number of recommendations are proposed on the technology of content design of foreign language education for masters are suggested.

An original vision for the structural formation of (Sm,Zr)(Co,Cu,Fe)Z alloys, the compositions of which show promise for manufacturing high-coercivity permanent magnets, is reported. Foundations arising from the quantitative analysis of alloy microstructures as the first, coarse, level of heterogeneity are considered. The structure of the alloys, in optical resolutions, is shown to be characterized by three structural phase components, which are denoted as A, B, and C and based on the 1:5, 2:17, and 2:7 phases, respectively. As the chemical composition of alloys changes monotonically, the quantitative relationships of the components A, B, and C vary over wide ranges. In this case, the hysteretic properties of the (Sm,Zr)(Co,Cu,Fe)Z alloys in the high-coercivity state are strictly controlled by the volume fractions of the A and B structural components. Based on quantitative relationships of the A, B, and C structural components for the (R,Zr)(Co,Cu,Fe)Z alloys with R = Gd or Sm, sketches of quasi-ternary sections of the (Co,Cu,Fe)-R-Zr phase diagrams at temperatures of 1160–1190 °C and isopleths for the 2:17–2:7 phase composition range of the (Co,Cu,Fe)–Sm–Zr system were constructed.

Both postphenomenology and critical constructivism are central paradigms used as philosophies and theoretical resources at the Master’s program in Techno-Anthropology at Aalborg University. In the fall of 2018 a didactical experiment was set up as Techno-Anthropology Master’s students were introduced to postphenomenology and critical constructivism and asked to compare these two theoretical positions. This comparative assignment and following class discussions between students, a guest lecturer and teachers is the point of departure for this paper. First, the paper introduces Techno-Anthropology with a special focus on the roles of postphenomenology and critical constructivism in the Master’s program. The next part of the paper zooms in on how these two philosophical positions were presented to the students. The third part analyzes students’ comparisons of postphenomenology and critical constructivism. On that basis, the author identifies similarities and differences between the two positions and discusses how the two positions can complement each other in a unified Techno-Anthropological research strategy.

The pressures of Thatcherism on theatre funding in the 'eighties were severe, but the early harshness was tempered by several factors. One was the positive influence of the Cork Report, particularly on touring and experimental theatre. Another, the authors believe, was a careful strategy of reallocation of funding to support creativity in English theatre, notably through the touring franchise scheme. Here, they analyze in detail the ways in which the English Arts Council operated the scheme in an attempt to revitalize aspects of English theatre from 1986 onwards, trace the change in the values of ‘political’ theatre over that period, and critically examine some received ideas in the light of the available evidence. Ian Brown is Dean of Arts and Professor of Theatre at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh, Rob Brannen is a Senior Lecturer in Drama at De Montfort University, Bedford. Douglas Brown is Assistant Director, Scottish Centre for Cultural Management and Policy, at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh.

The article is devoted to the study of digital competence as a component of work activity of a mediator specialising in education. The article analyses the professional standards of a mediator in Russia and abroad, the work duties of a mediator in educational organizations. The authors have developed a model of digital competence of a mediator in education, which includes the basic and professional level, represented by three spheres: online mediation, conflict prevention in the virtual environment; informational and psychological security. Empirical research has been carried out to identify indicators of digital competence of mediation specialists in education who work in the Siberian region. There have been determined deficiencies and dependencies of the indicators in terms of spheres and components of digital competence. In order to develop the digital competence of mediation specialists in education, the authors propose ways to improve the training of master’s students at the Siberian Federal University. The results presented in the article are supported by the charity fund of the V. Potanin’s program “Practically oriented master’s program ‘Mediation in Education’ with the strategic partnership of universities and professional communities of mediators from Siberia and Kazakhstan”

Abstract A growing number of foreign country nationals in economies worldwide challenges academics to raise a question whether one’s country of origin (COO) matters when selecting candidates for managerial positions. Thus the aim of this paper is to analyze the COO effect on the evaluation of managerial competence of a foreign individual. The analysis includes both the literature review and the empirical findings from the authors’ pilot research. A focus group interview is the method that was applied in the study. The analysis contributes to the nascent streams in international business and cross-cultural management research that concern the COO effect and the liability of foreignness (LOF) that refers to foreign newcomers (i.e. immigrants, ex/inpatriaties). It also adds some practical implications for the International Human Resource Management literature with that respect. The empirical findings suggest that COO is apparent when managerial skills are evaluated by locals.
