This study was conducted to determine the impact of the Care for the Non-Readers Program on the reading performance of struggling readers in all elementary schools of Dumingag II District, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines during the School Year 2016-2017. Fifty teachers and 465 parents were selected as respondents of the study. It made use of the descriptive comparative method of research with the questionnaire-checklist as data-gathering instrument. Both the descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the analysis and interpretation of data. The findings of the study revealed that both teachers and parents considered the Care for the Non-Readers Program as “Very Effective” in improving the reading performance of pupils. “Fuller Technique,” “Independent Reading,” “Directed Reading Thinking Activity,” and “Say Something” were the leading strategies applied by teachers in the implementation of the program. The majority of the pupils still belonged to the "Frustration" level. However, there was a significant improvement in pupils’ reading performance for three school years. Teachers encountered "Serious" problems in the implementation of the program, while the suggested solutions were considered as "Very Effective." Furthermore, there was no significant difference between the assessments of the two groups of respondents on the effectiveness of the CNR program.

The emergence of a wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that started in Indochina which eventually hit Indonesia also hit the business world on all fronts. The thing to be grateful for is the resilience of the MSME sector which is relatively able to withstand all conditions even in unexpected conditions such as Covid-19. This study uses a comparative method, namely: before the pandemic, the beginning of the pandemic (1-3 months), and during the new normal era with the object of a cafe cafe in Minggir, Sleman, Yogyakarta. From about 10 cafes in Minggir, only 5 cafes that meet the requirements were selected as research samples. By using SPSS analysis it is known that for the period before the pandemic the following regression results were obtained: Service concept = 0.819 + 0.805 (purchase decision) +0.391 (income level), at the beginning of the pandemic: Service Concept = 0.819 = 1.470 (Purchase Decision) + 36.1 ( Income Level), and in the New Normal era: Service Concept = 6,273 + 0.364 (Purchase Kep) +19.55 (Income Level). So it is found that there is a significant difference between cafe managers who use online services and social media and those who are vacuum (without social media activity) to establish communication with customers. The impact was very real even in the New Normal era. In conclusion, cafe managers who used social media in the early days of the pandemic, in fact in the new normal era, the level of purchase and income increased by 50%, it is assumed that from the additional new customers obtained at the beginning of the pandemic due to the influence of social media.

Abstract Background Correct habits acquired in childhood positively affect the future health of the adult person. Therefore the school meal isn't as a simple satisfaction of nutritional needs, but also an important moment of health promotion, which involves teachers and parents. Objectives In ATS Val Padana the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Unit evaluates school menu at the beginning of each year (including special diets for specific diseases that require diet therapy). During the school year, trained personnel carries out inspections in schools, according to annual planning. During the inspection are evaluated: - Presence/respect of the validated school menu Number of mealsPeople preparing and administering mealsFood preparation and storageLiking by childrenManagement of special dietsManagement of the meal as an educational moment Results 132 inspections were performed: 70 in 2018 and 62 in 2019. 23 (17.42%) were conducted in nursery schools, 62 (46.96%) in kindergartens, 44 (33.33%) in primary schools, 3 (2.27%) in middle schools. 47 (35.60%) were privately managed; 61 (46.21%) were also equipped with a kitchen for preparing meals. 41 inspections (31.06%) showed slight criticalities; 9 (6.81%) serious problems (poor hygiene, lack of control over special diets - which required further inspections). A statistically significant difference was observed (p = 0.02) between 2018 and 2019, with a clear decrease in criticality in 2019. No difference in the results of the checks was observed in relation to the type of school, management, and to the presence or not of a kitchen (all p > 0.05). Conclusions The effectiveness of the control system is represented by the relationship between non-conformities detected during the checks and the number of performed checks. In 2019, despite the controls have increased compared to the previous year, the incidence of non-conformities has decreased. This indicates that control activities is positive to improve the quality of the school meal. Key messages The school meal is a fundamental educational moment for children. Control activities have positive impact on the quality of the school meal.

Introduction: This paper describes some of the features of family medicine consultations in one clinic in India. In the United Kingdom (UK) there is a significant difference in the success rate in the Royal College of General Practice postgraduate licensing assessment (MRCGP) between those doctors who graduated MBBS from overseas but who trained and work in the UK, and those who graduated in the UK. The reasons for this are not known, but are likely to be multifactorial. India is the country of origin of one of the largest groups of UK International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and some doctors from India feel that their difficulty in passing this exam is in part due to family medicine being performed differently in India. Methods: The reported experiences of family medicine trained doctors in India about contextual aspects of practice are explored through a thematic analysis of focus group and interviews. A conversation analysis of work done by talk-in-interaction in video recordings of actual family medicine consultations in India is also presented. Results and Discussion: The impact of family medicine training, or the lack of it, and Indian structural and societal norms in the practice of family medicine are considered. The Clinical Skills Assessment element of MRCGP (CSA) heavily emphasises talk as used in all three assessment domains - data gathering, clinical management and interpersonal skills. The phrase ‘interactional fluidity’ is coined for the marker of competence with talk that RCGP examiners seek. This has implications in a high-stakes, yet simulated, assessment for those consulting in a second language. Using a model that differentiates between ‘core business work talk’, ‘work-related talk’ and ‘small talk’, the talk from video-recorded real-life consultations in India will be analysed. The risk of UK examiners mistaking unfamiliar patterns of talk for lack of medical competence is discussed. Conclusion: The differential attainment of IMGs has been described for some time and this paper aims to move the discussion on to potential training interventions in response.

Establishment of effective organizations has been the main subject of many researches in recent years. The effectiveness of organizations is directly or indirectly related to many variables. The concepts of favoritism and organizational opposition among these variables aroused the interest of the researcher and in line with the attained sources, it was found out that no researches with regard to these two concepts have been made up until now. We can briefly define favoritism as giving someone priority or granting privilege to someone, favoring someone unjustly and without complying with law and rules, backing someone up; getting away from objectivity and taking side by comparing a certain person, group, opinion or implementation with others when it is required to select one among them. Organizational opposition is defined as uttering about some conflicts and heresy within the organization. The purpose of this research is revealing the impact of favoritism of executives on the organizational opposition. The research made by using descriptive-relational screening model which is one of the quantitative research methods. The universe of research is composed of teachers who were employed in public primary, secondary and high schools in central Siirt (a province in Turkey) in 2015-2016 school year. In the study one of the non-random sampling methods, the convenience sampling method is used. Favoritism Scale (FS) including 15 articles and Organizational Opposition Scale (OOS) which is composed of 7 sub-dimensions and 67 article are used in the research. The obtained data is organized in r. 3.3.1 program (R Core Team, 2016). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) is made in MPlus 7 program. According to results obtained from research, it is seen that there are significant differences in both organizational opposition and favoritism of executives in terms of gender, the field of study, seniority and school type but there is a significant difference only in organizational opposition with regard to independent variable of union membership. In addition while it is seen that there are positive significant and medium level relationships between favoritism of executives and organizational opposition, it is also found out that favoritism of executives is an important predictor of organizational opposition.

This article analyzes the impact of a teaching methodology of English based on the investigation and comparative analysis conducted by students and teachers of sentences constructed in Spanish and spoken in English. Second-generation Hispanic students 'born in the US' who are learning English in the public schools of California; utilize the grammar of two languages on a daily basis. Yet, the activities utilized to teach and evaluate these students oftentimes do not analyze in an explicit way sentences that mix two languages. The model described in this article was implemented during the 2005-2006 school year with 29 Hispanic students enrolled in fourth grade in a public school of Los Angeles. The outcomes of this project suggest that students, who, guided by the teachers, analyze the connections between the two languages using a comparative method, not only perform extremely well in the state exams but also develop a vision of these two languages as codes with linguistic symmetries that create a communal block of knowledge.
