This study is aimed in improving students' writing ability by using pictures in narrative text for Grade XI- IPS 5 SMA N 1 Cigugur Kuningan, the survey used of t-test data of experimental and control groups on pre-test and the shows that tactic is lower that ttab (0, 07 ˂ 1, 6759) that is no significant difference of pre-test mean of both groups.  The result of there are given a different treatment, and it means that there is a considerable difference in the post-test way of both groups, which is the post-test mean of the experimental group is significantly higher. The result t-test of a hypothesis test in the experimental group, whit is tactic ˃ tab or 9, 72 ˃ 1, 7081 so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) the researcher found that the students gave positive responses on the use of the picture on student narrative writing skill.  The results of the questionnaire analysis were only offered to the experimental group, which for the affective aspect was 370 or with the "agreed" criteria, for cognitive perspective are 170.  It indicates the students' feeling toward English subject commonly, writing activity, and writing narrative text using picture especially is good. For the behaviour is 273 or in the "strongly agree" criteria. It indicates using snapshot is very good, an idea or belief toward English is essential are excellent, and they also agreed toward the difficulties of writing text without any media. After using a picture in writing narrative activity, these conclude that picture is significantly improving student narrative writing skill, and It's they made a considerable improvement in some aspect of writing skills such as content, organization, vocabulary and grammar.

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

This article was to find out about the effectiveness of applying dictogloss technique on students’ narrative text. A Quasi-Experimental design was used in this method, with using pre-test and post test design. Subject of this research was at the eleventh grade  at state senior high 10 Bandar Lampung.  The result of this study showed that the value of to  (tobservation ) was 5.2. The value of t table with degree of freedom 38 in significance degree 5 % was 2.02 and in significance degree 1% was 2.71. It indicated that to was higher than or 2.02 < 5.26 > 2.71. for those analysis, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and t alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Hence, it was inferred that there were significant difference between students’ narrative writing score who were taught by dictoglos technique. Objective of this research was to find out significant difference of reading achievement between students The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there was a significant improvement in students' skill in writing narrative texts after they were taught by using Genre-Based Approach. The method of this study was experimental design. The experimental group received a genre-based approach while the control group received the conventional method. The population was the eleventh-grade students of SMA Ethika Palembang. The sample was 60 students which was selected by cluster random technique . The data collection was a writing test. The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. It indicated that there was a significant difference in writing skill between the students who were taught using GBA and those who were not.  Based on the result of data, it was interpreted that all aspects of writing are increased after taught by using GBA Approach. The best-achieved writing aspect was style and quality expression. It assumed the use of words: phrases, sentences, and paragraphs in expressing the ideas were clear and effective in writing style. Further, the study provided evidence for the effectiveness of using the genre-based approach in improving the students' writing skill in narrative text.

English Environment Programs is one of method In Improving Speaking Ability At Polytechnic of National Informatics. This research aims at finding out wheather or not the use of English environment Programs improve the speaking ability. This research used Quasy experimental method with two group pre-test and post-test design. The result of the data analysis showed that the degree of freedom (df) was 43 (n1 + n2 – 2) where n1 = 30 and n2 = 15 so 30 + 15 – 2 = 43), the level of significant (α) = 0.05, the t-test value of students’ speaking ability= 3.765, and the t-table value = 2.021. The t-test value is greater than the t-table value (3.765 > 2.021), this showed that there is a significant difference of improvement between the Control group and Experimental Group. It means that the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted while the Null Hypothesis (H0) rejected. Based on the result above, the researcher concluded that the using of English Environment Programs can improve the speaking ability of the second year students of Polytechnic of National InformaticsKeywords: English Environment, Speaking, Effectiveness

This research aims at finding out wheather or not the use of English environment Programs improve the speaking ability. This research is concerned with applying roundtable technique writing skill in arranging sentences to form simple present tense. The aim of the research is to find out if applying roundtable technique effects on students’ writing skill in arranging sentences. The research is conducted by experimental method. The population of the research is XI students of SMA Swasta Dwi Tunggal Tanjung Morawa in 2018-2019 academic year. The sample consists of 60 students then divided into two groups, 30 students as experimental group and 30 students as control group. The experimental group is taught by applying roundtable technique and the control group without applying roundtable technique. The researcher uses writing test as instrument of the research. The test is answered by multiple choices and arranging sentences about simple present tense.The researcher analyzes the data by using the formula of t-test commonly used. After calculating and analyzing the data, it is concluded that tcalculate is higher than ttable (5,54 > 2,02). It showed that there is a significant difference. The pre test mean score of experimental is 57,16 and post test is 84,5, the difference is 27,34. The value ot tcalculate is bigger than ttable (5,54 > 2,02) degree of freedom is 58, and the level significance is 0,05. The result is that applying roundtable technique gives significant effect on students’ writing skill in arranging sentences simple presentt tense. So, It can concluded from t-test above that the hypothesis of this study is accepted.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This research applied experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data was a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 second year students (grade VIII) of SMP N 1 Sei Rampah. There were nine paralel classes that consisted of 30 students. The total number of the population were 270 students. The total number of the sample were 60 students. The researcher selected the sample by choosing only 2 classes  by using sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Engage, Study, Activate technique while the control group was taught without applying Engage, Study, Activate technique. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (4.383) is higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom (df= 58) at the level significance 0.05 one tail test. It means that alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text is accepted. The objectives of the research were; to describe the implementation of THIEVES strategy to the 10th grade students of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang; to figure out if there is any significant difference between the students who are taught by using THIEVES strategy and the students who are not taught by using non - THIEVES strategy to the 10th grade students of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang. In this research the researcher used quantitative approach with experimental research that was quasi-experimental design. The total samples was 78 students, consisted of X MIA 3 was 39 students as experimental group and X IIS 1 was 39 students as control group. The result of the test was analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 of Paired Sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. Based on the result of analysis there were two research findings. First, the implementation of THIEVES strategy usage could improve students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. It could be seen that the pre-test mean score in experimental group was 46.000 and control group was 45.179. Meanwhile, the post-test mean score in experimental group was 70.769 and control group was 68.461. Second, there was a significance difference between students who were taught by using THIEVES strategy and students who were not. It was known from the result of independent samples t-test. The t obtained was higher than t table (5.872 > 1.684) and the p output was lower than computation with level significant (0.000 < 0.05). It means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. It could be concluded that THIEVES strategy was effective to improve students’ reading comprehension.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) on students’ achievement in reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text. Experimental design was applied in this research. The population was the 2014/2015 second year students (grade XI) of SMA Swasta YAPIM Medan. There were two paralel classes that consisted of 34 students. The total number of the population were 68 students. The total number of the sample were 68 students. The researcher selected the sample by using total sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy while the control group was taught without using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (5.61) is higher than t-table (1.99) with the degree of freedom (df= 66) at the level significance 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) on students’ achievement in reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text is accepted. This thesis is focused on the investigation of the effect of applying animal cartoon pictures on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This study aims to find whether applying animal cartoon pictures significantly affect the students’ writing achievement or not. The data in this study were obtained by administering a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 first year (grade XI) of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam and 66 students were taken as the sample by using random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by applying animal cartoon pictures while the control group without animal cartoon pictures (x = lecturing). The data were taken the scores from the pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed is higher than t-table (5.21 >1,67) with the degree of freedom 64 (df =N-2) at the level significance 0,05 one tail test. It showed that the application of animal cartoon pictures significantly affected the students of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam achievement in writing narrative text.
