COVID-19 caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first time reported in December 2019. The disease has been showing rapid progression to a global pandemic causing profound adverse impact on medical, social, and economic status of the world. Pregnant women and new-borns belong to vulnerable population, who need to be protected. However, currently the impact of this novel virus on the foetus and neonate remains unknown. This article outlines the precautions and steps to be taken by nurses, an important member of the Health Care Team (HCT) before, and during delivery, during and after resuscitation of a neonate born to a COVID-19 mother. More evidence and research work are needed to know the risk of vertical and horizontal transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and its impact on maternal, fetal and neonatal outcomes.

COVID-19, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 11th of March 2020, leading to some form of lockdown across almost all countries of the world. The extent of the global pandemic due to COVID-19 has a significant impact on our lives that must be studied carefully to combat it. This study highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on crucial aspects of daily life globally, including; Food security, Global economy, Education, Tourism, hospitality, sports and leisure, Gender Relation, Domestic Violence/Abuse, Mental Health and Environmental air pollution through a systematic search of the literature. The COVID-19 global lockdown was initiated to stem the spread of the virus and ‘flatten the curve’ of the pandemic. However, the impact of the lockdown has had far-reaching effects in different strata of life, including; changes in the accessibility and structure of education delivery to students, food insecurity as a result of unavailability and fluctuation in prices, the depression of the global economy, increase in mental health challenges, wellbeing and quality of life amongst others. This review article highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown across the globe. As the global lockdown is being lifted in a phased manner in various countries of the world, it is necessary to explore its impacts to understand its consequences comprehensively. This will guide future decisions that will be made in a possible future wave of the COVID-19 pandemic or other global disease outbreak.

Widespread of Covid-19 throughout the world in a fast rate pushes WHO to declare its status as a global pandemic. In February 2021, the virus have been already infecting 233 nations in the world. The effect of Covid-19 is present in all aspect of society, and one of them is education sector. The most prominent effect of Covid-19 on education is the erasure of traditional learning method through physical class, and the encouraged uses of online learning. Nevertheless, with the usage of e-learning contain several disadvantages, and one of them is the ineffectiveness of student to understand the courses and skills necessary in the education. In fact, according to several sources, student who come from lower social-economi classes in society tend to fail at grasping and understanding lesson from the teachers in the online-learning context,compared to the higher-upper clasess student. From those problems, we tried to provide a solution in the form of tutoring program which will be held at Pucang Arjo, Kelurahan Kertajaya, Kecamatan gubeng, which the majority of the people who live in here come from the lower social-economic status and profession, for instance, market merchant, driver of online transportation, and all other low-income job that makes their children ignored in terms of education aspect. The purpose of this community service is to help the students in terms of knowledge, skills, and understanding towards their courses in their respective grades. Methods used in this community service is by the means of tutoring them while also maintaining healthy protocols to prevent covid-19 spread. The result of this community service, are, the tutoring programs are succesfully held within 1 weeks and being responded by the students positively. This is indicated by the enthusiasm from the participants. Also, the knowledge, understanding, and skills from the students rises significantly after the program was held. With this tutoring programs, the students which mainly composed from kindergarten and elementary grade, gain more knowledge and skills after participating in this program.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper, based on reflections from practice, is to shed light on the realities of using walking as a tool for learning and development. This is done through an initial analysis of longitudinal reflective data spanning seven years and connecting these reflections to the concepts: being-in-the-world, belonging and Ba.Design/methodology/approachThis research takes a practice based phenomenological and reflective approach. The value of this approach is to seek a new understanding, through three distinct conceptual frames, of the effective use of walking within management development.FindingsThe findings connect three conceptual approaches of being-in-the-world, belonging and “Ba” to the practicalities of delivery, thus encouraging practitioners and designers to deeply reflect on the role of walking in management development.Research limitations/implicationsA limitation is that this is largely a personal story exploring the impact of an intuitively developed set of interventions. Despite this, the paper represents a unique and deep interpretation of walking as a mechanism for management development.Practical implicationsThe paper concludes with three recommendations to practitioners wanting to use walking in management development programmes. These are: facilitators need to be familiar with their surroundings; they should look for spaces and places where participants can connect and build relationships; and organisers and sponsors need to recognise how walking not only consolidates knowledge but can help create knowledge too.Originality/valueThis is a unique, seven-year longitudinal study that broadens the theoretical focus of walking as a mechanism for management and leadership development that combines the theoretical lenses of being-in-the-world, belonging and “Ba”, the authors believe, for the first time in research on management development.

This chapter examines the ways in which teaching and training in tourism, hospitality and events have evolved and adapted to the contemporary demands of academia and industry. It explores the development of education in tourism, hospitality and events, the contemporary factors which influence teaching and learning, and discusses the rise of Massive Open Online Courses with a particular focus on their potential application within tourism, hospitality and events curriculum. The chapter concludes by providing an overview of Open Badges and their importance in education. At the time of writing, the world has been confronted by the Covid-19 global pandemic which has caused great disruption at all levels. The impact of Covid-19 is briefly addressed in this chapter as the enforcement of social distancing measures has led to a significant increase globally in online education.

Abstract. The Department of Thematic Mapping and National Atlas at the National Geographic Institute of Spain (IGN) has published a monograph on the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The time studied is limited to the first half of 2020 which is the period for which official data are now available. However, for the first time, provisional –non definitive– data have been used. This publication begins with an overview of the impact of this crisis on the world in general and on the European Union in particular. It then focuses on the effects that the pandemic has had on demography and on the National Health Service in Spain. It ends with the consequences that the pandemic has had on the Spanish economy, society and environment. This work has been carried out together with an ad-hoc scientific network. It is the first publication of the Department that has been written both in Spanish and in English with the aim of providing the rest of the world with a geographic-cartographic vision on what has happened in Spain within the frame of the European Union during the first semester of 2020.

The World Health Organization stated COVID-19 a global pandemic, it has quickly spread all over the world, posing immense health, environmental and social challenges to the global population. The coronavirus outbreak is critically interrupting the global trade and has shattered the core sustaining pillars of the modern world economies. Concerns have been raised about policy changes, enforcement actions, immigrant detention, and deportation practices during the outbreak. The impact of COVID-19 on these trends implies new dimensions for global governance and organizations. This article seeks to highlight Azerbaijan's problems in the context of the battle against a pandemic. Because a country's economy has been impacted, a comprehensive study may give a better understanding of the results, illuminating the areas that require more assistance and growth.

The COVID-19 global pandemic highlights pre-existing inequities as well as the challenge of ensuring the protection of children’s human rights in countries like Canada that have ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. SARS-CoV-2, referred to as the 2019 novel Coronavirus disease or COVID-19, presents a significant threat to public health. Although children are considered to be low risk of contracting, spreading, and serious complications of the disease, are considerably impacted by COVID-19 government-sanctioned distancing measures. COVID-19 is a persistent public health threat, thus, the long-term consequences are largely unknown. This qualitative research study, a content analysis of online Canadian media reports of COVID-19 and children, engaged transdisciplinary social justice methodology, social constructions of childhood at the intersection of race, socio-economic status, gender, and disability. The findings suggest COVID-19 reinforces the impact of social exclusion and economic disparity on equity-seeking young people and families in Canada.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has reshaped business environments across the world. Minimal physical contact quickly becoming the standard practice for how everyone interacts, almost everything is going online and touchless. Japan, as one of the most technologically innovative nations in the world, its technology firms and IT industry have enjoyed a prosperous year. The new global business trend and market demand has created new growth opportunities for Japanese firms in reviving the slumping economy. By exploring new business trends and booms in technology sectors, the intent of this study is to examine the impact of COVID-19 on business. The first section includes a discussion on digitalization and global pandemic technology growth, including examples involving the United States and China. The second section is focused on Japan by examining the COVID-19 impact on Japan’s economy, business trends and how this situation has benefitted technology players in Japan. Using business performance records in terms of equity gain and revenue growth, the impact of COVID-19 on business across sectors is investigated, with emphasis on Japan’s digital business and industry of automation, robotics and sensor technology. It concludes that the impacts of COVID-19 on the ways of doing business will be long lasting, and is expected to continue benefitting digital business and technology sectors.

This paper offers an overview of the highlights of the 2021 NISO Plus Annual Conference that was held virtually from February 22 – February 25, 2021. This was the second NISO Plus annual conference. The first one was held in 2020 and replaced what would have been the 62nd Annual NFAIS conference, but with the merger of NISO and NFAIS in June 2019 the conference was renamed NISO Plus and took on a new format. Little did they know that the second conference would have to be held virtually while the world was battling a global pandemic. The 2021 audience represented a 400% increase over the 2020 in-person attendance. There was no general theme, but there was a topic for everyone working in the information ecosystem - from the practical subjects of standards and metadata quality to preprints to information privacy and ultimately to the impact of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning on scholarly communication. With speakers from around the world and across time zones and continents, it was truly a global conversation!
