Abstract Research purpose. This paper aims at identifying and evaluating the means of communication used and the perceived barriers from employees of the banking system in Albania. The following research questions were formulated: (a) What are the means of communication used in vertical and horizontal communications? (b) Which mean is preferred and valued as the most effective? (c) Which are the barriers that hinder the effective communication flow in these organizations? Design/Methodology/Approach. A structured questionnaire was addressed to 120 employees of 3 different commercial banks in Tirana, Albania, out of which 100 fully answered questionnaires were received. The questionnaire is divided into three main parts, each of which has two subcategories, and the valuation used for each question is according to the Likert scale from 1 (very few) to 5 (a lot). Findings. E-mail is the most used communication tool vertically, whereas phone and e-mail are added at the horizontal one. Employee preferences are mostly for e-mail and face-to-face communication vertically and phone and e-mail horizontally. Time pressure and overload of information are perceived as main barriers vertically, whereas distractions are mentioned as biggest hindrance horizontally. Originality/Value/Practical implications. We suggest that the managers of organizations in the banking sector should properly consider these two communication tools and create suitable conditions for their use. The employees themselves use more of those tools as, according to their perception during communication with colleagues, those tools improve their effectiveness. Other similar studies might be conducted in different types of organizations to point out similarities and contrasts with banking sector.

The banking sector in any country plays a fundamental role in increasing the level of economic activity. However, the implementation of treasury single account has been devilled its performance. This study therefore investigates the implication of treasury single account on the performance of Nigerian Deposit Money Banks. Quantitative analysis was used in this research, with data collected by the researchers. Five banks (Zenith Bank, First Bank Plc, UBA, Access Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank) were selected through purposive method. Judgmental sampling technique was also used to select Head of Operation, Accountant and Branch Manager from 10 branches each of the selected bank in Oyo State, Nigeria, totaling 150 respondents as a sample size for the study. Data collection instrument used was a structured questionnaire and data analysis was performed with the aid of Ordinary Least Square method of estimation. Result shows that implementation of Treasury Single Account has significant relationship with closure of branches, withdrawal syndrome from the banking system, liquidity crisis and unemployment crisis in Deposit Money Banks. Subsequently, the study recommends that banks should focus on their core banking operations rather than feeding on government idle funds kept into various accounts by Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). Also, banks should sensitize people on the importance of baking culture instead of them keeping their money under their pillow, inside their farms and underground.

Islamic banking system (IBS) is one of these sectors that affect the economy and it works with free interest rate. This study investigates the level of customer’s awareness toward IBS. The study was conducted on the two Islamic Banks only in Duhok city- Kurdistan Region. The data were collected using structured questionnaire and the sampling was random. Descriptive statistics and Statistical Package Social Science (SPSS V.20) were used to analyze the participants’ responses. The results indicated that customers of Cihan Islamic bank - Duhok and Kurdistan International Bank for Investment and Development are not fully aware of Islamic banking system. Therefore, the study suggests that for Islamic banks to remain active and competitive they need to develop quality-service level in order to supersede the conventional banking standards, invest in new products and services and also develop an effective communication plan by advertising and marketing in order to achieve Islamic customer needs and demands.

Abstract Clarisha Windrati Suseno (1603050065) **, Therapeutic Communication Officer Health with Pasien (Case Study at Niamata Kupang Mental Hospital) supervised by Dr. Petrus A. Andung, S.Sos, M.Si and Ferly Tanggu Hana, S.Si, M.Comn. Consists of 178 pages. 18 Reference books, 5 journals and 8 internet sites. Communication is almost a natural action that is not intentional for almost everyone. Therefore the function of its effectiveness can be ignored. Because communication is also an inseparable part of the world of health, intermediaries through doctors and nurses will always be in contact with patients. Hence effective communication skills will have a positive impact on the quality and outcome of health care for patients. This qualitative research aims to explore effective communication, how its relationships and influences for health and also to find ways to improve effective communication in health care settings in patients. The therapeutic communication concept also tries to highlight the importance of this communication concept, which is done through verbal or nonverbal communication and nurses consciously influence the patient or help the patient. Patients with mental disorders are a description of the syndrome with a variety of causes. Much is not yet known with certainty and the course of the disease is not always chronic. Generally characterized by fundamental deviations, the characteristics of thoughts and perceptions, and the presence of unnatural or blunt effects. Naimata Kupang Mental Hospital (Naimata Mental Hospital) is the only mental hospital in the Kupang City. Face to face communication is something that is often done by health staff at Naimita Mental Hospital with patients. Face-to-face communication (part of therapeutic) is more accurate for patient's healing process because in face-to-face communication the patient is more concerned and easier for therapist to see concepts in the patient and understand the problems that patient is experiencing. Hence this function can also encourage patients to express their feelings and ideas more clearly. There are various reactions to "therapeutic communication" because all patients are different in character, background, social status, culture, and so on.

At the heart of the last financial crisis stood the shadow banking system, a mesh of financial activities and entities that grew outside of bank balance sheets but with the support of the banking sector. These activities were not regulated or supervised like banks, and they were characterized by high maturity mismatches and leverage. Two prime elements were Money Market Mutual Funds and Asset-Backed Commercial Papers, which jointly performed bank-like functions. This paper sheds light on the fate of these entities post-crisis and the regulatory dynamics at play as policymakers shifted their focus from constraining their activities to drafting a European regulatory infrastructure that delivers both stability and growth. Based on expert interviews and document analysis, we show how European policymakers opened up to private experts during this shift to learn about the technical complexity of Money Market Mutual Funds and Asset-Backed Commercial Papers, but in the end were restricted in their efforts to craft such regulation due to competing national factions and the legislative time pressure at the European level. We argue that the process was heavily influenced by, first, nationally held visions about the future role of financial markets that came to the fore at pivotal moments during the negotiations, and, second, the specific European institutional set-up and its electoral cycle.

Due to the constant innovations in communications tools, several organizations are constantly evaluating the adoption of new communication tools (NCT) with respect to current ones. Especially, many organizations are interested in checking if NCT is really bringing benefits in their production process. We can state an important problem that tackles this interest as for how to identify when NCT is providing a significantly different complementary communication flow with respect to the current communication tools (CCT). This paper presents the Mixed Graph Framework (MGF) to address the problem of measuring the complementarity of a NCT in the scenario where some CCT is already established. We evaluated MGF using synthetic data that represents an enterprise social network (ESN) in the context of well-established e-mail communication tool. Our experiments observed that the MGF was able to identify whether a NCT produces significant changes in the overall communications according to some centrality measures.

There is a growing interest from e-commerce planners and other planning agencies in the Information Technology world to measure and forecast the growth of e-commerce in developing countries like Nigeria. The difficulties lie in finding the best forecasting model that can incorporate both the internal and external barriers that influence the full adoption and diffusion of e-commerce. This study attempts to identify the relevant e-commerce tools and its spread in Ogun East Senatorial District as well as formulating a mathematical model for e-commerce adoption and diffusion. A well-structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 126 respondents and analyzed using Trendline, a built-in analysis tool in Microsoft® Office Excel version 2013. The study identified PCs/laptops, ATM cards, e-mail services, mobile money transfer, e-commerce Websites, and point-of-sales (POS) terminals as e-commerce tools used by the respondents. The results of the study show that majority of the e-commerce users/adopters were single female students between the ages of 21 and 30 years, with university education owing to a proportion of 63% of the respondents while the earliest adopted e-commerce tools in descending order were tablets/smartphones, PCs/laptops, ATM cards, and email services. The results further show that the most popularly-used tools were e-commerce websites (98% responses), email services (94% responses), mobile money transfer (94% responses), POS terminals (94% responses), tablets/smartphones (93% responses), PCs/laptops (87% responses) and ATM cards (80% responses). Based on the findings of this study, it is therefore recommended that government should promote the use and development of e-commerce, notably by reducing the costs of access to technology, through the liberation of trade in software and hardware.
