Education research strongly links methods of course assessment with the student learning process. In open-ended engineering design courses, assessment based on student deliverables as “product” may focus student attention on a content checklist rather than effectively learning process and techniques that are critical to professional engineering practice. By developing a rubric assessment scheme that relates directly to the course learning objectives and sharing it openly with students, it is proposed that students are more likely to achieve deeper learning on the process of engineering design.

Kata kunci :Strategi guru,Mandiri belajar ABSTRACT Strategy is an overall approach related to the implementation of ideas, planning, and execution of an activity in a period of time. Strategy is really needed by the teacher in growing student learning independence. Learning strategies are a series of learning activities that must be done by teachers and students so that learning objectives can be achieved effectively and efficiently. Thus the strategy is a tool or a very effective way to foster independent learning in a student. Learning strategies are very important for teachers because the strategies will facilitate the learning process so that learning objectives can be achieved. Learners not only accept knowledge just like that but students must also process this knowledge by using the minds they have. By using an independent learning strategy students can foster a sense of learning by themselves. The Self-Study Strategy itself is a strategy that aims to build individual initiative, independence, and improvement of students' self-abilities. This independent learning strategy aims to make students able to learn independently with the encouragement from within the students to learn on their own accord, their own choice and a sense of responsibility that exists within students. To achieve the goal of growing students' learning independence we need to understand the aspects that must be considered. Keywords: Teacher strategy, Independent learning

Professional engineers not only have to work frequently with those from other disciplines and professions, but often have to develop working skills and knowledge beyond their original discipline due to the requirements of their employment. Engineering accreditation bodies have accordingly begun to include the ability to function in multidisciplinary teams as a demonstrable requirement for accreditation of engineering schools. Similarly, engineering design skills are also important attributes for professional engineers, particularly those working in product, process or system development. Although long required by many engineering accreditation bodies, it is perceived by industry that most engineering graduates, although technically competent, have minimal practical design skills. There are many factors in most Canadian engineering schools that may limit student’s development of multidisciplinary and design skills. These include separate engineering departments, departmental funding policies, schedules based on individual disciplines, and heavy core course loads based on the perceived need for more math, science and computer courses. As a result, practical design experiences may be limited to one final year, discipline specific course. In an effort to address the need for both multidisciplinary and design engineering skills, a Multidisciplinary Design Stream has been developed at Queen’s University. Beginning with a course designed to develop a broad range of fundamental engineering design knowledge, skills and attitudes, the stream culminates with a full academic year experience working on industry based design projects in multidisciplinary teams. The first paper in this series, presented at the 2005 CDEN conference, discussed the first course in this stream and laid out the plans for the successive multidisciplinary industry-based design project. This paper will extend that discussion to review the industry project phase and reflect on the overall results of the first full offering of the multidisciplinary design stream.

The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of science learning material about the energy sources of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 46 Rejang Lebong in the academic year 2019/2020. In the first cycle the teacher has implemented applying the contextual method well and the results of the quality of student learning in cycle I have not yet reached an ideal improvement. Then a revision is needed to improve the deficiencies in the first cycle, but what needs to be considered for further action is to maximize and maintain what is already there with the aim that in the implementation of the next teaching and learning process, the application of applying contextual methods can improve the teaching and learning process so that learning objectives can reached. In cycle II, what has been done well and what is still not well done in the teaching and learning process is the application of contextual methods. From the data that has been obtained can be described as follows: 1) during the teaching and learning process the teacher has carried out all learning well; 2) based on observational data it is known that students are active during the learning process; 3) Deficiencies in the previous cycles have experienced improvements and improvements so that it becomes better; 4) The results of the quality of student learning in cycle II achieve an ideal improvement. In cycle II the teacher has applied the contextual method well and seen from the observation of student activities and student learning outcomes implementation in the teaching and learning process has been going very well. So there is no need for too many revisions, but what needs to be considered for further action is to maximize and maintain what is already there with the aim that in the implementation of teaching and learning, furthermore the application of contextual methods can improve the learning process so that learning objectives can be achieved.

Professional engineers in industry not only have to work frequently with those from other disciplines and professions, but often have to develop working skills and knowledge beyond their original discipline due to the requirements of their employment. Similarly, engineering design skills are also important attributes for professional engineers, particularly those working in product, process or system development. Surveys continue to suggest that industry perceives most engineering graduates, although technically competent, have minimal practical design skills, and lack the complimentary professional skills that are required for working successfully in the shared workplace. In an effort to address the need for both multidisciplinary and design engineering skills, a multidisciplinary design stream is under development at Queen’s University. Beginning with a course designed to develop a broad range of fundamental engineering design knowledge, professional skills and attitudes, the stream will continue to enhance the student’s capability through a full year experience working on industry based design projects in multidisciplinary teams. The first elective offering of the design engineering fundamentals course attracted students from nine of ten disciplines. The project phase of the stream will be first offered in 2005-2006 to those students completing the fundamentals course. This paper will therefore discuss the multidisciplinary design stream as a work in progress.

One indicator of the success ofeducation in the level of classroom learning is when a lecturer is able to build student learning achievement and will be more successful if this achievement can be increased if their attendance is above 80% (minimum 10 times attendance from 12 meetings). If the students can be grown discipline and provided a decent campus facilities, then as difficult as any lecture material or learning process that followed by they undoubtedly will live with feelings of joy, even they will feel sad if that day lecturer could not come because there is a need outside campus. There are four stages of appraisal that apply to each student for each course taken include (1) attendance of 10% (2) Task 20% (3) 30% Semester Exam (UTS) and (4) Final Exam Semester. (UAS) 40%. The writer as a lecturer tries to cultivate motivation to learn from the beginning, in addition to always communicate actively with students who follow the lecture also monitor attendance and assignment, each completed college is always given the practice / tasks are directly given the value, usually given the task quite easily so they can get a value of 100, even if there is a miscalculation, they are still given the opportunity to fix the error so that eventually get a value of 100. With the value of this 100, their motivation to grow and even grow in such a way that spur them to diligent lectures. The difficulty level of the task is balanced with the lecture, the longer it is raised so as to reach the maximum average level of student ability at the end of the lecture meeting...This research reveals that there is no a significant correlation between student achievement to discipline presence of student/mahasiswa with campus facilities. The analyzing was taken from an answer of 55 students who were randomly selected as respondents by filling out the Questionaire that was distributed to them. Key words : achievement, attendance, discipline, campus facility
