This paper addresses quality considerations in public transportation systems and, in particular, the relation between quality of public transport service and customer satisfaction. Its aim is to provide insights into the factors that affect transit-rider satisfaction and to present a model to calculate the probability of customer satisfaction. The proposed model identifies the most important attributes of public transport service quality that can be used for service planning.

The article considers the problem of competitiveness of motor transport services in the context of hierarchical levels of economic management. Resource, operational and strategic competitive advantages of subjects-operators of the market of motor transport services on nano-, micro-, meso-, quasi-, macro- and megalevel have been allocated. The level of competitiveness of road transport services at a particular time is determined not only by competitive advantages of the subjects-operators of the market of motor transport services, but also by the joint impact of many factors on their activities. Research and analysis of these factors can determine whether they contribute to or hinder the achievement of the higher level of motor transport service competitiveness. There has been carried out the comparative analysis of forming road transport service competitiveness. It has been stated that at all levels of economic management the process of forming the competitiveness of motor transport services is specific. Presented typology of competitiveness of motor transport services at different levels of economic management acts as a methodological approach which contributes to theoretical justification of the concept of “competitiveness of motor transport services”, allows better assessing the activities of competitors. Besides, this approach enables the subject-operator of the market of motor transport services to navigate with greater accuracy for further operation in order to obtain advanced results due to using its competitive advantages. In the conditions of rapid innovative development of integration processes of the world economy, marketing to a large extent determines the level of competitiveness of motor transport services. Thus, the process of developing and realization of marketing strategies for improving competitiveness of motor transport enterprises is very important.

Subject. Service infrastructure of road transport in the region. Research topic. Methodological approach to determine the target values of road transport service infrastructure’ development indicators in the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District. Purpose. To analyze and provide target values of development indicators of the road transport service infrastructure (RTSI) of the region, to propose possible measures to influence the factors of development of RTSI. Methodology. Logical, comparative, economic and statistical analysis. Results. The author has developed the algorithm and the methodology of the estimation of the indicators of regional RTSI. Possible remedies to influence the factors of RTSI development, which were specified and finalized, based on the analysis of programs and measures, conducted in the region, have been offered. Scope. Economic policy of regional authorities in the sphere of road transport infrastructure’ management. Conclusion. The proposed methodology and algorithm for assessing target performance indicators for the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District were tested. The regions of the North Caucasian Federal District were divided into three groups. For each group of regions were obtained target indicators to assess the effectiveness and control the development of RTSI in the North Caucasian Federal District, which ensure the preservation of the effectiveness of RTSI enterprises in the further development of the region. For the group of regions (Republic of Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia Republic, Chechen Republic), a lag in the values of the indicators of the sufficiency of the RTSI enterprises compared to the average forecast values for the federal district as a whole was revealed; the priority is to increase the «Number of RTSI enterprises per 1,000 vehicles». For another group of regions (Stavropol Krai, Republic of Ingushetia), the priority objective is to increase the «Total volume of paid domestic RTSI services to the population. For the group of regions - the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania - a proportional increase in the values of all target indicators of RTSI development is required. The conclusion was made that the development of RTSI enterprises in the North Caucasian Federal District is not provided with a unified set of measures, RTSI cannot effectively develop within the framework of regional programs to stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises, and compete with enterprises of other activities, due to their organizational and economic peculiarities. It is needed to give more priority to the development of RTSI, the creation and implementation of regional target programs for the RTSI development. Key words: regional economy, road transport infrastructure, development indicators, targets

Abstract. TV news are essentially cultural phenomena. Previous research suggests that the often-overlooked formal and implicit characteristics of newscasts may be systematically related to culture-specific characteristics. Investigating these characteristics by means of a frame-by-frame content analysis is identified as a particularly promising methodological approach. To examine the relationship between culture and selected formal characteristics of newscasts, we present an explorative study that compares material from the USA, the Arab world, and Germany. Results indicate that there are many significant differences, some of which are in line with expectations derived from cultural specifics. Specifically, we argue that the number of persons presented as well as the context in which they are presented can be interpreted as indicators of Individualism/Collectivism. The conclusions underline the validity of the chosen methodological approach, but also demonstrate the need for more comprehensive and theory-driven category schemes.

To forecast time series data, two methodological frameworks of statistical and computational intelligence modelling are considered. The statistical methodological approach is based on the theory of invertible ARIMA (Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average) models with Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimating method. As a competitive tool to statistical forecasting models, we use the popular classic neural network (NN) of perceptron type. To train NN, the Back-Propagation (BP) algorithm and heuristics like genetic and micro-genetic algorithm (GA and MGA) are implemented on the large data set. A comparative analysis of selected learning methods is performed and evaluated. From performed experiments we find that the optimal population size will likely be 20 with the lowest training time from all NN trained by the evolutionary algorithms, while the prediction accuracy level is lesser, but still acceptable by managers.

The article presents a methodological approach to studying iterative processes in the school course of geometry, by the example of constructing a Koch snowflake fractal curve and calculating a few characteristics of it. The interactive creative environment 1C:MathKit is chosen to visualize the method discussed. By performing repetitive constructions and algebraic calculations using ICT tools, students acquire a steady skill of work with geometric objects of various levels of complexity, comprehend the possibilities of mathematical interpretation of iterative processes in practice, and learn how to understand the dialectical unity between finite and infinite parameters of flat geometric figures. When students are getting familiar with such contradictory concepts and categories, that replenishes their experience of worldview comprehension of the subject areas they study through the concept of “big ideas”. The latter allows them to take a fresh look at the processes in the world around. The article is a matter of interest to schoolteachers of computer science and mathematics, as well as university scholars who teach the course “Concepts of modern natural sciences”.

The article develops methodological approach to the analysis of groups of interests’ influence on the choice of Russia’s development strategy. It is possible to pass on to the analysis of specific issues of economic policy by forming several sub-groups in every "analytical" group. The article also considers the structure of Russian economy which was formed as a result of transformational crisis’ influence on Soviet economy, and relevant international comparisons. Main alternative ways of transition to innovational development are the renewal of Soviet "triangle economy" (the scenario "Mobilization") and complex institutional changes (the scenario "Modernization").
