Chronic kidney diasease (CKD) might cause stress which generally leads to depression. Depression is correlated to significant impairment in a patient's daily life, such as excessive Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG) caused by an overload of fluids. Excessive Interdialytic Weight Gain might also cause other complications that are able to interfere the process of hemodialysis therapy. The objective of this research was to identify the overview of and the correlation between depression types and Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG) of the chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional Public Hospital of Banda Aceh. This descriptive analytical research was conducted by means of a cross-sectional study approach. The data were collected in December 2019 by using an accidental sampling technique. The data were collected by distributing the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression. Those data were then analyzed by using a univariate data analysis and a bivariate data analysis, especially the Spearman Correlation Coefficient. Based on the statistical analysis with the Spearman test, p-value of 0.000 (p0.05) with a Spearmen Correlation Coefficient of 0.729 was found. Hence, a significant correlation between depression levels or types and IDWG in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis in dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional Public Hospital of Banda Aceh was indicated. Keywords: Chronic Kidney Disease, hemodialysis, Depression, Interdialytic Weight Gain

Chronic kidney disease is decreasing glomerular filtration rate of less than 15mL/minute which causes someone to undergo a hemodialysis therapy that replaces kidney function. The course of chronic kidney disease is progressive and irreversible and may cause psychological problems in hemodialysis patients such as depression. This study aimed to describe to what extent patients under hemodialysis treatment at Jemursari Hospital, Surabaya experience depression symptoms in patients. This study was descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The simple random sampling technique was performed to select 72 patients who had scheduled hemodialysis treatment and been qualified for the inclusion criteria. Data were then analyed using a univariate analysis in variable frequency distribution. The results show that patients with depression symptoms were mostly men as many as 31 people (43.1%), and the majority were aged 46-65 years as many as 24 people (49%).  The latest formal education in most respondents was high school (23.6%). There were 38 respondents (77.5%) who got married, and most respondents were unemployed (77.5%) and had undergone hemodialysis for more than 12 months (77.5%). This study concludes that the patients under hemodialysis treatment at the hospital experienced mild depression symptoms. Keyword: hemodialysis, depression, Beck Depression Inventory.

Abstract Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by adverse changes in body composition, which are associated with poor clinical outcome and physical functioning. Whilst size is the key for muscle functioning, changes in muscle quality specifically increase in intramuscular fat infiltration (myosteatosis) and fibrosis (myofibrosis) may be important. We investigated the role of muscle quality and size on physical performance in non-dialysis CKD patients. Methods Ultrasound (US) images of the rectus femoris (RF) were obtained. Muscle quality was assessed using echo intensity (EI), and qualitatively using Heckmatt’s visual rating scale. Muscle size was obtained from RF cross-sectional area (RF-CSA). Physical function was measured by the sit-to-stand-60s (STS-60) test, incremental (ISWT) and endurance shuttle walk tests, lower limb and handgrip strength, exercise capacity (VO2peak) and gait speed. Results A total of 61 patients (58.5 ± 14.9 years, 46% female, estimated glomerular filtration rate 31.1 ± 20.2 mL/min/1.73 m2) were recruited. Lower EI (i.e. higher muscle quality) was significantly associated with better physical performance [STS-60 (r = 0.363) and ISWT (r = 0.320)], and greater VO2peak (r = 0.439). The qualitative rating was closely associated with EI values, and significant differences in function were seen between the ratings. RF-CSA was a better predictor of performance than muscle quality. Conclusions In CKD, increased US-derived EI was negatively correlated with physical performance; however, muscle size remains the largest predictor of physical function. Therefore, in addition to the loss of muscle size, muscle quality should be considered an important factor that may contribute to deficits in mobility and function in CKD. Interventions such as exercise could improve both of these factors.

This research aimed to explore the factors predicting chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the high-risk population. A cross-sectional study had been conducted in the high-risk populations investigated with and without CKD were the participants. A total of 1,463 samples was enrolled by a multistage sampling technique was used to recruit participants from five provinces in the lower northern of Thailand. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics, and binary logistic regression. The results were revealed the risk factors affecting CKD including aged, dyslipidemia, being ill of diabetes mellitus, being unable to control blood pressure, being unable to control blood sugar level, taking add more salty seasoning to the cooked food, cooking with sodium salt over the prescribed amount, using the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, lack of exercise, herbal plants consumption as drugs that are toxic to the kidney, edema, foamy urine, and nocturia. All risk factors were able to co-predict the risk to CKD about 83.2% at the 0.05 level of significance. Therefore, to prevent early states with CKD in the high-risk populations, the focus should be on encouraging health literacy because health literary it has a positive relationship with health-promoting behaviors. The health care provider needs to concentrate on increasing health literacy for self– management with them.

IntroductionAnemia is the most common occurrence in chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis therapy. In the condition of chronic kidney disease, the decline in kidney function can occur slowly and chronically until the kidneys do not function at all. Hemodialysis is one of the therapies used to replaced kidney function. During hemodialysis, a decrease in hemoglobin levels often occurs, this is due to the disruption of the hormon erythropoietin. Objective:determine the differences in hemoglobin levels in patients with chronic kidney disease before and after hemodialysis at Bhayangkara TK. I Raden Said SukantoHospital. Method: The design of this research is cross sectional using secondary data and the sampling technique of this research was random sampling with a total of 133 patients. Result: The normality test was carried out first using the Kolmogorov-Smirnova test which showed the results were not normally distributed with a sig value of 0.001. the next test was the Wilcoxon test with a sig (2-tailed_ value of 0.002 with an average hemoglobin level of 8,81 g/dL before hemodialysis and 9,09 g/dL after hemodialysis. Conclusion:Based on the results of the study means that there is a significant difference in a patient with chronic kidney failure before and after hemodialysis.

Abstract Background and Objectives Compliance with dietary, fluid, and medication instructions is a critically significant factor for the health and well-being of patients undergoing hemodialysis for an extended period. The current study assessed the correlation between noncompliance behavior and biochemical parameters of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis. The study's objectives were 1) to assess patients' noncompliance behavior using a questionnaire, 2) to determine the biochemical parameters of CKD patients having noncompliance behavior, and 3) to find the correlation between biological parameters and noncompliance behavior. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from July 12, 2018, to February 10, 2019. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit the participants, and 100 participants were included in the study. The End-Stage Renal Disease–Adherence Questionnaire was used to assess the non-compliance behavior. Results Most dialysis patients (70%) were compliant with the therapeutic regime, while 30% failed to comply. The study revealed a significant positive correlation between noncompliance behavior and biochemical parameters of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis (r = 0.578, p < 0.05). Conclusion Noncompliance behavior is significantly correlated with the biochemical parameters among patients with CKD on dialysis. Optimal health is possible through fluid and dietary compliance in these patients. Hence, adherence behavior plays a significant role in the health and recovery of dialysis patients with CKD.
