Does money bring happiness? This study was undertaken to understand and analyze the relationship between materialism and happiness. The sample consists of on young male and female students in the age group of 18-21years belonging to service class family and living in the tri-city of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. For the purpose of study respondents were selected randomly who were administered the structured questionnaire to measure happiness and materialism using Oxford Happiness questionnaire, Richards and Dawson Materialism Scale. Descriptive analysis, correlations, and t-ratios was applied to the data. Results revealed non- significant relationship between materialism and happiness. Gender difference was also studied.

Background Establishing personal identity is one of the main concerns in forensic investigations. In forensic anthropology, estimation of height from head circumference has a significant role in establishing personal identity.Objective The objective of the present study was an attempt to understand the relationship between height and head circumference of an individual and to derive regression formulae to estimate the height from the head circumference.Method The present study consisted of 440 (258 male and 182 female) students of age group 17 to 25 years studying in Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences, Dhulikhel, Nepal during the period from November 2012 to October 2013. Height and head circumference of an individual were measured in centimeter. Data were analyzed by using statistical software SPSS-16Result The findings of the present study were significant correlation between height and head circumference (r = 0.443, p < 0.01 for male, r = 0.302, p<0.01 for female, and r = 0. 398, p < 0.01 for combined (male and female). The regression equation for height and head circumference was found to be Y = 1.734X + 70.36 (R2 = 0.196) for male, Y = 0.916X + 106.8 (R2 = 0.091) for female, and Y = 1.648 X + 71.69 (R2 = 0.158) for combined (male and female), where Y is the height of Individual and X is the Head Circumference.Conclusion Head circumference showed highly significant positive correlation with individual’s height. Therefore, the present study will help in medico-legal cases in establishing the identity of an individual and this would also be useful for Anatomists and Anthropologists.Kathmandu University Medical Journal Vol.12(2) 2014: 89-92

The study aimed to identify the relationship between the prevailing social control methods and the level of ambition among secondary students. The researcher used the descriptive descriptive approach. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the questionnaire was used to determine the validity and persistence of the social control methods, consisting of (47) items divided into two areas (the first area: the penalties and the second field: the rewards), prepared by the researcher (2005) The study sample consisted of (367) male and female students from the Fourth Directorate of Amman. The results of the study showed that the most common methods of social control used in the field of penalties are: to punish you for the offenses you have committed. In the area of ​​charges, "promote your good behavior in front of students in public." The results also showed that the level of ambition among students was high, ). The results also showed that there is no relationship between the methods of social control and the level of ambition among students. There are statistically significant differences in the methods of social control due to the gender variable. The differences were in favor of males in penalties and in favor of females in rewards. The level of ambition is attributed Variable sex; females in all dimensions of the study for the benefit.

This is a pragmatic study conducted to explore the quality higher education and students’ perception towards the private universities in Bangladesh. This study examines the relationship between the quality higher education and students’ perception using a structured questionnaire. A total number of 500 senior undergraduate and graduate level students from ten selected private universities in Bangladesh were taken as sample for conducting the study. The finding of this study discloses that the quality higher education is a dynamic factor that ensures the students’ perception. It also shows that quality higher education can create positive students’ perception towards the private universities in Bangladesh. Reliability, Responsiveness, Competence, Tangibility, Courtesy, Goodwill & Image, Empathy, Security and Costs are the dimensions of quality higher education. To quantify the variables a five point “Likert- type” scale has been used in this paper. The researcher conducted various analyses such as Multiple Regression Analysis, Descriptive Analysis, and ANOVA and identified a numerous key findings as to the students’ perception towards the quality higher education. This study tries to investigate the relationship between the male and female language performance and the level of anxiety among Iranian EFL students. The participants of the current study were 26 Iranian EFL students studying English in Islamic Azad University, Larestan, Iran who were selected in terms of the administering of an Oxford Placement Test. Then, the students were given The Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale. Finally, they were given an English class test which consisted of 40 multiple-choice items. The researcher calculated the correlation between the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale and the performance of both Iranian male and female students on English Class test. The findings indicated that there was a negative correlation between the level of anxiety and the students' performance on English Class Test scores. Moreover, Iranian male students were more anxious in learning English than female students.

This study aims to examine the factors that drive student creativity, identify key factors and look at differences in creativity factors for male and female students. A total of 119 respondents from one polytechnic in the southern zone were involved in this study. The study data were obtained from the administered questionnaire and the Cronbach Alpha value obtained was α = 0.873 and then analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis of student gender was seen using frequency and percentage while inference analysis using t-test at a significant level 0.05 was used to see the difference in creativity factors between genders. The results of the study found that the main factor that motivates student creativity is the knowledge factor with a mean value of 4.3025. In addition, studies also show that there is no difference in creativity factors between male and female students except for the knowledge factor. It is also hoped that this finding will provide an opportunity for lecturers to continue to strive and give encouragement during the teaching and learning process so that students' creativity can be highlighted through the factors that have been mentioned. Keywords: Creativity, Creative Thinking, Higher Education, Polytechnic, Students   Abstrak: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor yang mendorong kreativiti pelajar, mengenalpasti faktor utama dan melihat perbezaan faktor kreativiti bagi pelajar lelaki dan perempuan. Seramai 119 responden telah terlibat dalam kajian ini yang merupakan pelajar di sebuah politeknik di zon selatan. Data kajian diperoleh daripada soal selidik yang telah ditabdir dan nilai Cronbach Alpha yang diperolehi ialah α = 0.873 dan seterunsya dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensi. Analisis deskriptif mengenai jantina pelajar dilihat dengan menggunakan frekuensi dan peratusan manakala analisis inferensi menggunakan ujian t pada aras signifikan 0.05 digunakan untuk melihat perbezaan faktor kreativiti antara jantina. Hasil kajian mendapati faktor utama yang mendorong kreativiti pelajar ialah faktor ilmu pengetahuan dengan nilai min 4.3025. Melalui kajian ini juga diharap dapat memberikan peluang kepada pensyarah untuk terus berusaha dan memberi galakan semasa proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran agar kreativiti pelajar dapat diserlahkan dan ditonjolkan lagi melalui faktor yang telah disebutkan. Internet in the last few decades has revolutionized the world and this revolution has also influenced university students. This study was conducted to explore the relationship between use of online sources and library attendance. By using simple random sampling technique 72 female students from the Department of Sociology, International Islamic university Islamabad were selected as respondents for this study. The data was collected through structured questionnaire. Findings were coded and given quantitative interpretation. The findings indicate that the usage of library has decreased due to the availability of internet facility. Students reported to prefer online sources due to the fact that they are conveniently available without the need to visit the library. Constraints in using the library were also reported. Nevertheless the respondents acknowledged the importance of library and the fact that it gives more authentic knowledge compared to online sources.

In the current study described in this chapter, we examined the relationship between body image and well-being among religiously observant male and female youth from four age groups: 16, 17, 19, and 22. MANOVA analysis of age x gender produced a significant interaction regarding body image. Various trends were found among the two genders according to age group. Among the girls, there is a moderate rise in body image (BI) with age, whereas among the boys there is an obvious decline between 17 and 19, followed by an increase. The boys' BI scores were significantly higher than those of the girls aged 16, 17, and 19, but not for age 22. There were significant and positive correlations between BI and well-being for all age groups and both genders. There were high correlations among the girls relative to those among the boys.

A health professional requires resilience to be able to handle the depression, anxiety and stress, which may occur when they are in the field. Resilience is theability to tackle and overcome difficulties, with personal transformation and growth. Studies in undergraduate medical students have shown a difference in the stress scores of males and females, showing the possibility of gender difference in coping strategies and resilience. Therefore, the objective of the study was to assess the resilience scores of undergraduate medical students and to find out the existence of gender differences in their resilience scores. A cross-sectional study was conducted among the first and second-year MBBS students of 18-25 years of age after obtaining informed consent and Institutional ethical clearance. All willing male and female students fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria formed the study participants. A standard resilience questionnaire was used to assess the resilience scores of the students and the male and female participants scores were noted separately. A total of of282 first and second-year undergraduate medical students participated in the study. A significantly higher percentage of female students had a high resilience score in comparison to male participants. Our study highlights the fact that females have a higher resilience compared to males. But still, the majority of male and female students are having moderate resilience. Thus, the future focus should be on the promotion of resilience-building measures to be taught to the students early in their medical curriculum to successfully tackle the stressful situations.

Psychologists and educators believe motivation as a significant factor that has an effect on student learning and accomplishment. It is a general argument that suitable motivational orientations make learning easy while unsuitable ones obstruct it. Intrinsic motivation is a kind of motivation that approach from individual factors within a person rather than merely from some outside motives. Intrinsic motivation shows learners commitment in learning for its personal interest. In Pakistan, perhaps little research has yet been done in this field. The study was conducted to find the relationship between intrinsic motivation and academic achievement of students at university level in province Punjab, Pakistan. The main objectives of study were, to finds out profiles of students with respect to intrinsic motivation and academic achievement, to find out difference among male and female students on intrinsic motivation and academic achievement. The population of the study comprised of 600 male and female students studying in universities of Punjab, Pakistan. The sample consisted of 300 male and 300 female students of universities selected through multistage sampling procedure. In order to measure intrinsic motivation of students, an adapted version of Harter’s (1981) intrinsic motivation scale was used. Academic achievement of students was measured through their university results. The scores on each variable were calculated and summarized through mean and standard deviation scores. The significance of difference between mean scores of male and female and BA and B.Sc students on the study variables were calculated by t-test (two-tailed). The relationship between intrinsic motivation and academic achievement was computed by using Person ‘r’. The results of the study revealed no gender difference. Both male and female were found to be equal in intrinsic motivation and academic achievement.
