The article presents a research of the peculiarities of the psychological adaptation of foreign students to the language and national environment in the process of comprehensive study of peculiar topics of linguistics and the history of its formation. The research was conducted on the basis of the use of a comprehensive experimental training program for learning Ukrainian as a foreign language and the history of Ukraine in one academic group of foreign students (12 people). Another group of students studied according to the standard program. The research objective is to demonstrate the positive dynamics of psychological adaptation of students from different countries to the language and national environment in the process of learning Ukrainian as a foreign language and particular aspects of its formation, namely the influence of Poland on the Ukrainian literary language in Western Ukraine in the 20s and 40s of the 20th Century. The urgency of studying this historical period is that the new edition of the “Ukrainian orthography” of 2019 partially intensifies the use of lexical tokens borrowed from the Polish language and orthographic norms of the “Orthography” of 1928. The research results showed that the average score of the final testing of students who studied through the experimental program is 3 points higher than that of students who studied through the standard program. In addition, students of the first group have much higher results from diagnosing the psychological characteristics of adaptation to the national environment. By studying the language and history of Ukraine, foreign students not only much better mastered language phenomena and understood their origins, but also learned about the complex past of our country. The conclusions of the experiment show that the proposed methodology proved itself to be a tool of improving the psychological adaptation of foreign students to the language and national environment of the country in which they receive professional education.

The article proves the importance of using complex methods in project work when teaching Russian as a foreign language, including both traditional and innovative content: working with textbooks and video content. The practical use of this method is connected with educational texts about Southern Federal University, accompanied by lexical comments and a system of exercises to train lexical and grammatical skills. The suggested texts and links to corresponding online video content are meant to be used at the first stage of multimedia project work on the history of Southern Federal University and its modern state. Educational texts play an important role both in teaching Russian as a foreign language and in project work. In our opinion, educational texts should make the base of any project, be actively implemented on the stage of motivation and goal-setting. The material of educational texts develops speech skills, reading capacity, audio perception, and text recognition. Foreign students also understand how to plan their work within a chosen project. The students improve their capacity for forming utterances, taking part in discussions and dialogues in Russian, which is doubtlessly important for effective work on individual projects and their presenting. In our opinion, work with the multimedia content is more productive in video format. The article gives not only special educational texts about Southern Federal University, but also links to video clips and video films, as well as the structure of working with them.

With regard to the increase of the number of applicants who enroll in Russian universities directly on the basis of secondary education, bypassing the preparatory faculties, which arises the problem of an insufficiently prepared group of learners, in which the disciplines related to the study of the history of the language are taught. Accordingly, the teacher has to solve the problem by revising the methodological approaches to the teaching of the discipline. In particular, it is necessary to vary the volume and content of the educational material, implement the principle of communicativeness in teaching, and use interactive ways to enhance the activities of the students. In fact, the courses become less academic and more oriented towards the practical application of acquired knowledge by the students in order to improve their own knowledge in the field of Russian grammar. This article is devoted to the problem of using Russian time-prepositions by foreigners, especially by the Chinese. An analysis of modern literature allows the author to identify the main areas of the work aimed at foreign students’ development of the skills and abilities to correctly build the prepositional combinations and continuously improve the communication skills by means of the Russian language. In this paper, the time-prepositions in the Russian language have been analyzed in detail; some examples of polysemantic use of prepositions, their semantic and stylistic shades alongside with possible errors made by foreign students are presented. The results of the study are to help in developing a system of teaching Russian time-prepositions to a foreign language audience, taking into account their native language, on the basis of the systemic and functional, communicative and activity-centred basis. The role of Russian time-prepositions in constructing word combinations has been identified; the need for foreign students’ close attention to this secondary part of speech has been specified. It has been stated that prepositions are the most dynamic and open type of secondary language units within the quantitative and qualitative composition of which regular changes take place. The research substantiates the need that students should be aware of the function of time-preposition in speech; they are to get acquainted with the main time-prepositions and their meanings, to distinguish prepositions and other homonymous parts of speech as well as to learn stylistic shades of time-prepositions. Some recommendations related to the means of mastering time-prepositions have been given: to target speakers to assimilate modern literary norms and, therefore, to teach them how to choose and use them correctly by means of linguistic keys that are intended to fill the word with true meaning, to give it an organic structure, an inherent form and an easy combinability in the texts and oral speech.

Abstract This paper deals with the characteristics of the scientific research of the renowned Slovak linguist Klára Buzássyová who – as a lecturer at the Studia Academica Slovaca summer school of Slovak language and culture – presented to foreign students the specifics of Slovak lexis and their function in speech within the context of intraand interlingual relationships. In her lectures, she helped students to see Slovak as a developped and modern Central European language which has its own genetic and typological properties and as a language capable of reacting to dynamic changes emerging from the communication needs of language users while respecting current trends in European language policy. Klára Buzássyová presented students with the latest results of her linguistic research and discussed the issues regarding the dynamics of vocabulary with an emphasis on the methods of wordformation, motivation, and the impact on the semantic and stylistic value of lexical units. Her papers, published in the Studia Academica Slovaca proceedings from 1980 to 2001 presented her scientific orientation and became an inspiration for the linguistic and didactic conception of Slovak as a foreign language in the context of the development of Slovak studies in Slovakia as well as abroad.
