The aim of this study is to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of students at TSM major (Motorcycle Engineering) Darul Karomah Singosari on square root material. This study applies descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected using test instrument that has been tested on three research subjects, and analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The results show that low- ability (Kemampuan Rendah) subject is the student with less mathematical reasoning ability because the subject has not been able to solve the five existing indicators of mathematical reasoning, middle- ability (Kemampuan Sedang) subject include student with moderate mathematical reasoning ability (although the subject has not fulfilled the five indicators of mathematical reasoning requirements), this can be seen from his effort to make a mathematical assumption even though the conjecture made was not correct, and high- ability (Kemampuan Tinggi) subject refers to the student with high mathematical reasoning ability because he can fulfill two of the five indicators of mathematical reasoning.

One of the goals of teaching mathematics in elementary schools is students are able to understand mathematical concepts, explain the interrelationships of the concepts and apply algorithmic concepts in a flexible, accurate, efficient and precisely in solving their daily problems. The elementary schools nowadays show that there are still found many students who have difficulty in solving problems related to the subject matter, especially on arithmetic operations of integers. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Students in first grade are given a worksheet to solve individually by writing out the work steps clearly. Six students were chosen as research subjects to be analyzed. The sixth research subject consists of 2 subjects who have high mathematical abilities, 2 medium, and 2 low mathematical abilities. The difficulty of the subject was observed by examining the worksheet's answer and giving clinical interviews related to the results of his work. Based on the results of data analysis, the difficulty of learning mathematics of elementary school students in integer operations is: 1) students have difficulty understanding the purpose of the question so that it incorrectly translated into mathematical sentences; 2) students have difficulty operating numbers that contain negative signs; 3) 95% of students have difficulty understanding the meaning of equal sign (=); 4) students have difficulty carrying out the division operations.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 SMK Diponegoro Salatiga, the efforts of teachers in maximizing the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 at SMK Diponegoro Salatiga, and the efforts of the teacher in overcoming problems with the students' low mathematical reasoning abilities. The method used in this research is to use a qualitative approach. Data collection in this study was a written test and interviews. The test was conducted to determine the students' mathematical reasoning abilities by using 3 open-ended questions in the form of descriptions. Interviews were conducted to find out in depth the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in solving math problems which were followed by 6 out of 29 students who were selected based on the students' abilities, namely 2 students with high abilities, 2 students with moderate abilities and 2 students with low abilities. The results of the study reveal that: (1) high-ability students meet the indicators of presenting mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; submit allegations; manipulating mathematics; compile evidence, provide reasons / evidence for the correctness of the solution; draw a conclusion; and check the validity of an argument. Students who are able to meet the indicators present mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; submit allegations; and manipulate math. Low ability students meet the indicators of presenting mathematical statements orally, in writing, pictures and diagrams; and put forward allegations. (2) the efforts of the teacher in maximizing the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in class XII Accounting 1 SMK Diponegoro Salatiga by enriching and remedials. (3) the efforts of the teacher in overcoming students' low mathematical reasoning abilities by conducting peer tutoring.   Keywords: Ability Analysis, Mathematical Reasoning, Open-ended Problems.

This research is a qualitative descriptive research that aims to analyze the level of students' reasoning ability in solving the problem on material function limit by categorizing high, medium, and low mathematical reasoning ability. The subjects of the study were 20 students of class XII. A form of data retrieval is the provision of 4 items about written tests and interviews on selected subjects. Based on the results of the analysis, the average value of the whole matter of the instrument of mathematical reasoning ability derives 89% for the indicator performing calculations based on the applicable mathematical formula or rules, 84% and 64% of the indicators draw conclusions and 93% for the indicator to make the estimate so that if totaled and averaged 83%. Then the mathematical reasoning ability of high school students of class XII is appertaininghigh.

The objectives of this study are: 1) To determine the differences in learning outcomes shown by students who learn using the NHT-type cooperative model and conventional learning on the learning outcomes of vocational school students in Sampang on the subject of financial mathematics (annuity). 2) the difference in learning outcomes shown by students who have high learning motivation with students who have low learning motivation towards learning outcomes of vocational school students in Sampang on the subject of annuity. 3) To determine the interaction between the use of the cooperative learning model type NHT and conventional learning, as well as student motivation on learning outcomes of vocational students in Sampang on the subject of annuity. This type of research is an experiment with research subjects of class XII students, the instruments are tests and questionnaires. The homogeneity of the research subjects was tested by using the independent sample test. Data normality was tested with one sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Hypothesis testing uses two way ANOVA by displaying the average value of descriptive statistics as a level of differentiation. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that: 1) There are differences in learning outcomes shown by students who learn using the NHT type cooperative model and accepted conventional learning with a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). The highest mean is found in the NHT type learning model which in total obtained results of 89.27. 2). There are differences in learning outcomes shown by students who have high learning motivation with students who have low learning motivation who are accepted with a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). The highest mean is found in high learning motivation, which in total is 88.84. 3) There is a significant interaction between the NHT type learning model, conventional and learning motivation on student learning outcomes on the subject of annuities received at a significance level of 0.001 (<0.05). While the highest mean is found in the interaction between the NHT type learning model with learning motivation of 89.74.

The purpose of this research was to describe preservice teachers’ mathematical reasoning ability in solving algebra problem based on reflective and impulsive cognitive style. Therefore, the total subject of this research is two pre-service teacher who has the cognitive style different from each other. It means that the subject of this research is one pre-service teacher who has reflective cognitive style and one pre-service teacher who has an impulsive cognitive style. In addition, the category of research method used is explorative research with the qualitative approach where researchers tried to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of pre-service teachers in solving the mathematical problem according to cognitive style. As for the components of mathematical reasoning ability in this research are analysis, generalization, synthesis, justifying and non-routine problem-solving. According to the components, there was one subject who could analyze the given problem while the others subjects could not. Moreover, all of the subjects have a difficulty in another component.

The purpose of writing this article is to obtain an overview of the thinking process of ele- mentary school students in mathematical understanding related to the material of multi- plication and fraction distribution. The thought process consists of instrumental thinking processes and instrumental relational thinking processes. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Students in one class are given a task sheet to do individually by writing clear work steps. Six students were selected as research subjects to analyze. Consisting of 2 subjects who have high math skills, 2 medium and 2 low. The process of thinking of a subject is observed by looking at and reviewing the answers to the assignment sheet and giving clinical interviews related to the results of his work. Based on data analysis, it was obtained an illustration that the subject did not have a good instrumental relational think- ing process. Generally, many subjects do not understand the concept of fractions, so it is wrong to change fractions to other forms, operate fractions and conclude answers.
