The article about metaphor is carried out using qualitative method. The data were taken from the internet on Coldplay’s lyrics from the album “A Head Full of Dreams”. Theories used in the study is on the metaphor, conceptual metaphor, types and forms of metaphors, and image schemas. It aims to find the types and image schemas of the metaphors on the data. The result shows that based on Lakoff and Johnson’s theory on metaphors there are 18 structural metaphors, 17 orientational metaphors, and 14 ontological metaphors. Based on Saeed’s theory of image schemas there are 12 image schemas of space, 8 image schemas of journey, and 6 image schemas of strength, while based on Cruse and Croft’s theory there are 11 image schemas of identity. From 12 song lyrics on the album, there are only 9 of them that contain metaphors.AbstrakPenelitian konspetualisasi metafora ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data penelitian diambil dari lirik lagu Coldplay dalam album “A Head Full of Dreams” dari situs internet. Teori yang digunakan adalah metafora, konseptualisasi metafora, bentuk dan jenis metafora, dan skema citra. Masalah yang dibahas adalah jenis metafora dan skema citra yang terdapat pada data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan teori Lakoff dan Johnson tentang jenis-jenis metafora, ditemukan 18 metafora struktural, 17 metafora orientasional, dan 14 metafora ontologis. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi skema citra dengan menggunakan teori Saeed, dalam data ditemukan 12 skema citra ruang, 8 skema citra perjalanan, dan 6 skema citra kekuatan, sedangkan berdasarkan skema citra menurut Cruse dan Croft terdapat 11 skema citra identitas. Dari 12 lagu yang terdapat dalam album “A Head Full of Dreams”, hanya ada 9 lagu yang mengandung unsur metafora.

This journal is entitled “Conceptual Metaphor of Anger Emotion in Grunge Musician’s Song Lyrics”. The objective of this study is to analyze and describe conceptual metaphors of anger emotion that Grunge Musicians used in their song lyrics and to analyze and describe the image schema formed in conceptual metaphor of anger emotion. The data are taken from the lyrics of grunge musicians based on the Rolling stones magazine about the best grunge musicians all the time. The research uses a qualitative method since the data collected are in the form of words rather than numbers and it is conducted based on the conceptual metaphor theory and emotion concept theory from cognitive semantics study. The result of this research shows that the conceptual metaphor of anger emotion mostly used by grunge musicians are ANGER IS FIRE, ANGER IS AN OPPENENT IN A STRUGGLE, ANGER IS A NATURAL FORCE, and ANGER IS A HOT FLUID IN CONTAINER. The image schema that found in conceptual metaphor of anger emotion is FORCE SCHEMA and CONTAINMENT SCHEMA.

By having Twitter for their interaction, users are demanded to express their idea in short-clear-easy to understand tweets. This condition pushes them to formulate every single word to conceptualize their idea as what happens to #success. They must build a tangible explanation of the idea of ‘success’ that is frequently determined by their life experience. This research is aiming to investigate how the users from the entire world associate their thinking about ‘success’. This research used the descriptive qualitative method by having tweets as the main data gained from Twitter during 2018. The data were analysed by using domain analysis attached to Conceptual Metaphor in Cognitive Semantics approach. The discoveries of this investigation are success is book, success is building, success is degree, success is food, success is gift, success is iceberg, success is journey, success is product, success is profession, success is trade, and success is money.

This paper describes the conceptual metaphor of love in Taylor Swift’s song in her album Red. Along with time, works of art especially music, keeps developing up until now. Many musicians pour their thoughts in their songs about their criticism over the government or simply about their love life.  One of such is Taylor Swift. Swift’s messages are not all explicit but some are implicit with the use of figurative language (metaphor). Descriptive qualitative method and a cognitive semantics approach are used to  describe and analysis the data from Taylor Swift’s song in the album. Theresult shows that the conceptualization metaphor of love manifests in many forms, namely the object of love as things, love as part of the body, love is a game, love is a sign, love is an art, love is an object of sound, love is a colour, love is a trap and love is a problem. AbstrakPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan metafora konseptual cinta dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift pada album Red. Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, karya seni, khususnya seni musik berkembang hingga saat ini. Banyak musisi yang menuangkan pemikirannya di dalam lagu yang berisi kritikan terhadap pemerintahan atau seputar kehidupan pribadi, khususnya percintaan. Salah satu penulis lagu tersebut adalah Taylor Swift. Pesan yang dituangkan Swift tidak hanya dinyatakan secara eskplisit, tetapi ada juga yang dinyatakan secara implisit dengan menggunakan bahasa kiasan(metafora). Metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kajian semantik kognitif  digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis data yang bersumber dari lirik lagu Taylor Swift pada album Red. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konseptualisasi metafora cinta yang ditemukan antara lain objek cinta sebagai sebuah barang, cinta sebagai bagian tubuh, cinta adalah permainan, cinta adalah tanda, cinta adalah seni, cinta sebagai objek suara, cinta adalah warna, cinta adalah perangkap, dan cintaadalah masalah.

The data were the speech of Joko Widodo, it takesfrom different four speech that Jokowi have done in different place and situation.The writer found that the power in Joko widodo’s speech mostly is equal whileJokowi speak in the international situation.

Code switching (CS) is a common phenomenon in language contact situations wherein bilinguals utilize two languages in the same context. This study investigated the occurrence of intra-sentential code switching by 12 bilingual Saudi females on twitter who differed in age and education. The data were collected by taking screenshot for 1260 tweets. Data were analysed statistically to show the phenomena of Arabic- English code switching. Moreover, a qualitative method was used for data analysis. Findings of the study showed that code-switching was observed clearly on twitter and that intra-sentential code-switching occurs frequently. It was also observed that at the level of particular syntactic categories in Arabic-English CS, nouns were the most often switched elements in the corpus. This study focused on nouns and verbs as examples of these syntactic categories of CS. English as inserted language was mostly used by participant, so the study focused on Arabic sentences in which English is the embedded language. Finally, it is found that the most inserted words in English were related to the internet and other social aspects.

The students' reading comprehension is very lowat the pandemic era, Theyare difficult to understand  the text, they don’t haveEnough English vocabulary, Many teachers/lecturer used  techniques that wereless precise in teaching reading, and the students got reading comprehension scores below the minimum completion criteria (KKM). This research aims to determine whether using Reading, Encoding, Annotating, and Pondering techhnique as Learning process in pandemic era to improve reading comprehension stability for students.This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method, which describe of students’s problem at pandemic era by zoom in the Internet after that, analyze the data which used percentage.The researcher also has done pre-assesment for supporting accurate data.The subjects of this research were 20 students, consisted 11 females and 9 males. The subject Instrument used in this research is reading comprehension test, researcher observation cheklits and field notes, student observation Cheklist and field notes, interview and documentation by zoom at the Internet. According to avarage results, the increasing for  students' reading comprehension ability on the pre-assessment  is the average student reaches, (55.14%), learning 1  (62.15%), learning 2  (70.14%), and learning 3 (75.65%)  avarage students’ score increase and got standardization of school. Based on the result in each levels which  there is  indeed REAP technique could increasing students’ reading comprehension text.

Individuals use language as a means of communication everywhere and at all times. In today's world, figurative language is often encountered in everyday life, such as in song lyrics. Figurative language is a way of describing something without saying it directly. This research aims to investigate the figurative languages found in the lyrics of the song "Grenade" by analyzing their context and attempting to decipher their meaning. The data tool is song lyrics found on the internet, and the research approach is descriptive qualitative analysis. The results revealed that this album employs figurative language such as metaphor, hyperbole, and repetition. Furthermore, the most figurative words used in the lyrics is hyperbole. Each figurative language's contextual sense is often clarified in relation to the lyric's situation. Keywords: Figurative Language, Song lyrics, Contextual Meaning

This research is intended to analyze the meanings of semantic and moral values found in songs lyrics in the album by Coldplay. The result of this research is expected to be valuable research in enlarging the knowledge of semantics field especially in analysis of song. In this case the meanings and moral values found in the Coldplay’s Album songs lyrics. In this case, the researcher collects the data in following steps. Firstly, collecting the script of song lyrics taken from the internet. Secondly, assembling data from the sources. Thirdly, reading all the data sources. Lastly, classifying the lyric based on the lexical meaning and moral values and classified them according to the research focus. After analyzing the data, the lexical terms found in this song contains 6 denotations, 5 connotations, 1 ambiguity, 10 antonyms and 11 synonyms. Furthermore, there are many kinds of figurative languages found in some lyrics of the song such as simile, hyperbole, personification, symbol, metaphor, apostrophe, synecdoche, paradox and antithesis, etc. Specifically, the figurative language which found in lyrics a head full of dreams album , there are 1 metaphor, 2 similes, 2 symbol, 2 hyperboles and 1 irony. Then, the five song lyrics in a head full of dreams album by Coldplay tell us about human social life which contained about love, sadness, happiness, spirit and adventure of life.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan alih kode dan campur kode yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu  Aimer album Dawn dan Sleepless Nights. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu penelitian yang mengandalkan uraian berupa lirik lagu. Dalam lirik lagu  Aimer album Dawn dan Sleepless Nights  menunjukkan bahwa terdapat alih kode ekstern (outer code switching) dari bahasa Jepang ke bahasa Inggris. Adapun bentuk campur kode yang terdapat adalah campur kode ekstern (outer code switching) dalam wujud frasa, kata, dan kalimat.Kata kunci: Sosiolinguistik, dwibahasa, alih kode, campur kode, lirik lagu  Abstract: This study aims to describe the code switching and code mix contained in the lyrics of the song Aimer album ‘Dawn’ and ‘Sleepless Nights’. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, a research that relies on the description in the form of song lyrics. In the lyrics of the song Aimer album ‘Dawn’ and ‘Sleepless Nights’ shows that there is an external code switching from Japanese to English. This paper aims to study The Desire Under the Elms and The Emperor Jones as the pictures of conflict. The dramatist, O’Neill attempts to reveal the metaphorical expressions in the selected plays. These metaphorical expressions lead to the tragedy in modern American drama. The researchers use the qualitative method, the narrative analysis as the storytelling techniques. This study uses the conceptual metaphor theory by Lakoff and Johnson (1980-1988) to justify the metaphorical expressions in the plays of O'Neill to tackle the characters, the actions and plot in the plays mentioned above.
