Abstract

Cement which is the main ingredient in making concrete contains non-renewable natural ingredients, potassium silicate. This causes an increase in cement prices every year. In overcoming these problems, there needs to be a modification in concrete mixes that are more environmentally friendly. Mixtures that are able to reduce the need for cement and contain potassium silicate such as charcoal are selected in modified concrete mix material by reviewing compressive strength. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the composition of charcoal as a substitute for cement in the preparation of concrete material was observed from compressive strength. The composition of the cement mixture will be replaced with charcoal by 0%, 5% and 10% with concrete compressive strength which is expected to have K200 quality. The research method uses an experimental method for sampling data. There are 3 (three) specimens in each percentage of addition of charcoal. The results of concrete compressive strength with a concrete age of 7 days, 22 days and 28 days under normal conditions without mixture are 31 Mpa, 35 Mpa, and 38 Mpa. The compressive strength of concrete mixed with charcoal as much as 5% is 30 Mpa, 31 Mpa, 36 Mpa. In 10% charcoal mixed concrete is 20 MPa, 27 MPa, and 29 MPa. The results of the compressive strength of the three conditions each showed a decrease in the trend of concrete age 7 days, 21 days and 28 days. Even though the trend has decreased, the compressive strength of the concrete produced still meets K200. This shows that charcoal ash can be used as an alternative to a partial replacement of cement in the concrete mixture for K200 concrete quality.

Abstrak

Semen yang merupakan bahan utama pembuatan beton mengandung bahan dasar alam yang tidak dapat diperbarui yaitu kalium silikat. Abstract: Compressive strength of concrete is the capacity of concrete to bear loads of materials or structure sans breaking or being deformed. Specimen under compression shrinks in size whilst under tension the size elongates. Compressive strength essentially gives concept about the properties of concrete. Compressive strength relies on many aspects such as water-cement ratio, strength of cement, calidad of concrete material. Specimens are tested by compression testing machine after the span of 7 or 28 days of curing. Compressive strength of the concrete is designated by the load on the area of specimen. In this research various proportions of such aggregate mixed in preparing M 30 grade and M 40 grade of Concrete mix and the effect is studied on its compressive strength . Several research papers have been assessed to analyze the compressive strength of concrete and the effect of different zones of sand on compressive strength are discussed in this paper. Keywords: Sand, Gradation, Coarse aggregate, Compressive strength

In the paper it was decided to recognize the material characteristics of concrete based on ceramic aggregate, aluminous cement with the addition of zeolite (5%, 10%, 15%) and air entraining admixture. Aggregate crushed to 2 fractions was used for designing the concrete mix : 0-4 mm, and 4-8 mm. The research involved the use of clinoptilolite derived from the zeolite tuff deposit at Sokyrnytsya (Transcarpathia, Ukraine). The dominant component in the zeolite is clinoptilolite in an amount of about 75%. The research carried out by the authors showed that the addition of zeolite, among others, increases the compressive strength of concrete, significantly improves the frost resistance, which in the case of using only aluminous cement is very low. The obtained results confirm the possibility of using the above-mentioned components, which improve the concrete material properties and are environmentally friendly.

Concrete is one of the construction materials that is currently widely used by the community to build buildings. This is evidenced by the large number of construction of buildings, roads, irrigation channels and other construction. Until now, Indonesian people still use a little concrete. The problem that we want to know is how the effect of adding mosquito wire fiber to compressive strength, tensile strength and elastic modulus of concrete using concrete quality fc '= 19.3 MPa. The purpose of this study is to add additional mosquito wire fiber can be used as an added component of concrete components that have high strength and good quality but are economically valuable for compressive strength, tensile strength and elastic modulus. The method used is secondary and primary data. The results of this study are compressive strength 0% = 15,839 MPa, 1% = 13,657 MPa, 3% = 10,137 MPa, 5% = 9,173 MPa, tensile strength 0% = 7,392 MPa, 1% = 8,205 MPa, 3% = 8,504 MPa, 5% = 9,038 MPa. and elastic modulus 0% = 29131,385 N / mm2, 1% = 14575.68 N / mm2, 3% = 10303,133 N / mm2, 5% = 7030,893 N / mm2. The results of this study found that the addition of mosquito wire fiber can reduce the compressive strength of concrete and modulus. While the tensile strength and modulus of elasticity increase. So that the mosquito wire is not suitable for concrete compressive strength and elastic modulus.

The Pumice sand is a bright colored butian type, containing foam made from glass-walled bubbles and usually referred to as silicate volcanic glass granules. This pumice sand can be used as a substitute for normal sand as fine aggregate in a mixture of concrete mix. Based on the characteristic test examination, it can be seen that in testing the characteristics of pumice sand to the specifications of normal sand in specific gravity testing and weight testing of quicksand obtained results that are smaller than the specifications of normal sand and absorption tests obtained results greater than specifications on normal sand. The results of the normal sand compressive strength at BN is 250.95 kg /cm2 while the results of the floating sand concrete compressive strength on BPA is 224, 965 kg /cm2. Based on the research it can be concluded that with the same quality of concrete, the quality of K-250 is different in comparison to the compressive strength of concrete in normal sand and pumice sand concrete shows almost the same results. Therefore, more in-depth research is needed regarding the use of pumice sand instead of normal sand in a mixture of concrete mix

Investigations were carried out on the changes in properties of concrete when steel slag is used in concrete in its normal form and after modifying its properties by infusing it with nano-silica. The sand is replaced by steel slag and modified steel slag by 10%, 20% and 30% in M30 grade concrete. Tests results on compressive strength and workability of concrete revealed that compressive strength of concrete cubes after 28 days increased by 25.4%, 26.4% and 45.2% for 10%, 20% and 30% respectively after replacing sand by steel slag. After modification of steel slag properties by infusing it with nano silica, the 28 days compressive strength was observed to be increased by 38.19%, 35.80% and 27.89% for 10%, 20% and 30% as compared to traditional concrete mix respectively after replacement. Infusing steel slag with nano silica increased the compressive strength of concrete mix by 20.17%, 25.74% and 49.64% for 10%, 20% and 30% respectively when compared to normal steel slag concrete mix. It was also observed that using steel slag in concrete mix also influences on water consumption in concrete mix. Workability tests conducted using 0.45 and 0.5 w/c ratio and the inference was that the workability increased with the increase in percentage of steel slag but workability decreases with the increase in percentage of modified steel slag.
