Abstract Objectives This study investigated the psychological status of patients and staff, and the implementation of preventative measures in hemodialysis centers in Guangdong province, China, during the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods An electronic questionnaire survey was carried out anonymously between March 28 and April 3, 2020. All of the 516 hemodialysis centers registered in Guangdong province were invited to participate in the survey. The questionnaires were designed to investigate the psychological status of hemodialysis patients and general staff members (doctors, nurses, technicians, and other staff), and to address the implementation of preventative measures for administrators (directors or head nurses) of the hemodialysis centers. Results A total of 1782 patients, 3400 staff, and 420 administrators voluntarily participated in this survey. Patients living in rural areas reported a higher incidence of severe anxiety compared to those living in other areas (in rural areas, towns, and cities, the incidence rate was 17.0%, 9.0%, and 8.9%, respectively, P < 0.001). Medical staff were less likely to worry about being infected than non-medical staff (13.1% vs 30.3%, respectively, P < 0.001). With respect to the implementation of preventative measures, hemodialysis centers in general hospitals outperformed stand-alone blood purification centers, while tertiary hospitals outperformed hospitals of other levels. However, restrictions regarding the admission of non-resident patients were lower in tertiary hospitals than in other hospitals. In this situation, only one patient imported from Hubei province was diagnosed with COVID-19. Conclusions COVID-19 did not significantly affect the psychological status of most patients and medical staff members. Due to the implementation of comprehensive preventative measures, there were no cluster outbreaks of COVID-19 in hemodialysis centers. This provincial-level survey may provide referential guidance for other countries and regions that are experiencing a similar pandemic.

With the continuous development and progress of society, the reform of higher education is gradually unfolding, and colleges and universities are responsible for the development of education. From the perspective of students' cognition, understanding the law of the occurrence and development of students' cognition is conducive to change the traditional rigid management mode to the development of flexible management mode. In addition, it also meets the requirements of student management to take into account students' cognitive and human needs, and provides guidance for student management in the new era, and enriches the theoretical basis of student management. Based on the educational cognitive theory, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on College Students' management, and uses SPSS software to analyze the survey data, so as to measure the satisfaction of various management work, and to study the influence of cognitive theory on the management mode of college students in the new period. In the process of design, the questionnaire focuses on students' self-cognition and social cognition, especially the cognition of "the other" in students' social cognition, that is, the cognition of student management work and the cognition of student management workers. The results of the questionnaire survey show that there is a difference between students’ self-perception and the cognition of others, and students’ cognitive characteristics determine how to manage students. Student management workers need to improve the role of “advisors, mentors and helpful friends”. The cognitive characteristics of students determine the changes in student management. The cognitive needs of students determine the content of student management; the cognitive level of students accounts for 34% of the effectiveness of student management.

BACKGROUND Medical technology has made remarkable advances in various fields. With the development of health care technology, the quality of life and longevity of humans have improved. Interest in the exchange ofThis study attempts to clarify the thoughts and attitudes pediatricians towards introducing blockchain technology into the medical field. medical information is also increasing. OBJECTIVE This study attempts to clarify the thoughts and attitudes pediatricians towards introducing blockchain technology into the medical field. METHODS We conducted a questionnaire survey among Korean pediatricians working in different types of hospitals (primary, secondary, and tertiary). A paper questionnaire and a Google questionnaire form were used. RESULTS The score for the intention and expectation of using blockchain technology was 4.0 – 4.6. Pediatricians working at tertiary hospitals showed slightly more positive answers in terms of expectations and efforts to use blockchain technology. In terms of attitudes towards and perspectives about blockchain technology, pediatricians expressed only few positive opinions about the use of blockchain for hospital work (4.3 – 4.7), but those working at tertiary hospitals provided slightly more positive answers in terms of attitudes toward blockchain technology. However, pediatricians working in the primary and secondary hospitals expressed a slightly negative view towards applying blockchain technology to hospital work (p=0.018). CONCLUSIONS In the future, when introducing the medical records of related pediatric and adolescent patients with blockchain technology, it is recommended to conduct a pilot project that prioritizes pediatricians in tertiary hospitals. With regard to the introduction of blockchain technology to the medical industry, technology, cost, policy, and perceptions of market participants are important. Through this study, we investigated the perceptions of pediatricians, one of the market participants in the introduction of blockchain technology to the medical industry. It is hoped that the findings of this study will stimulate active discussions related to the introduction of blockchain technology in the field of pediatrics in the future. Abstract BackgroundTrauma patients are often in a state of psychological stress, experiencing helplessness, sadness, frustration, irritation, avoidance, irritability and other adverse emotions. Doctors and nurses are at the forefront of caring trauma patients and they play a crucial role in psychological supports and mental health care. However, few qualitative studies had based on the framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explore the experiences in providing psychological care for trauma patients. We examined attitudinal, normative, and control beliefs underpinning medical staffs’ decisions to perform psychological care.MethodA qualitative study of in-depth semi-structured interviews was conducted among 14 doctors and nurses engaging in trauma care. The participants came from six tertiary hospitals in Chongqing, China. Data analysis was performed using the approach of Colaizzi. According to the framework of TPB, the researchers identified and summarized the themes.ResultsImportant advantages (mutual trust, patients' adherence and recovery), disadvantages (workload, short-term ineffective, practice unconfidently), referents (supportive: managers, patients, kinsfolk, nursing culture; unsupportive: some colleagues and patients), barriers (insufficient time or energy, resources situations), and facilitators (access to psychologist, training/education, reminders) were identified. Some demands, such as training diversity, multidisciplinary cooperation and families' support, reflected by doctors and nurses were important for them to carry out psychological care.ConclusionAccording to the TPB, this article explored the internal and external promotion and hindrance factors that affecting the intentions and behaviors of doctors and nurses in implementing psychological care for trauma patients. We also focused on the experience and demands of health professionals in conducting psychological care, which could provide references for managers to formulate corresponding psychological care procedures and norms.

ObjectiveThe study aimed to determine prevalence, patterns and risk factors of defensive medicine by obstetricians and gynaecologists across China.DesignThis is a questionnaire survey by written and on-line interview for participants.ParticipantsAmong 1804 registered physicians participating at the 2017 Congress of Chinese Obstetricians and Gynecologists Association in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China, from 17 to 20 August 2017, 1486 participants (82.4%) responded the survey.Main outcome measuresParticipants’ strongly disagreed/disagreed and strongly agreed/agreed options were compared to determine specific factors contributing to their preferences towards defensive medicine.ResultsIn the whole cohort of 1486 participants, 903/1486 (60.8%), 283/1486 (19.0%) and 170/283 (60.1%) participants had experienced at least one medical dispute, lawsuit or loss of a lawsuit, respectively; and 1284 (86.4%) participants had witnessed their colleagues exposed to medical disputes, lawsuits or loss of a lawsuit. Generally, 62.9% of the participants strongly agreed or agreed with defensive medicine. Gender, administration duty, employment hospital, education status, subspecialty, exposure to any medical disputes, lawsuits or loss of a lawsuit, and colleagues’ experiences were independent risk factors relevant to participants’ preferences about defensive medicine in a multivariate model. Participants were more prone to accept or endorse defensive medicine if they were female physicians; without administrative duties; working in non-tertiary hospitals; with an undergraduate degree; with any exposure to medical disputes, lawsuits or loss of a lawsuit; or having witnessed colleagues’ similar experiences.ConclusionsAbout two-thirds of Chinese physicians practising obstetrics and gynaecology in our survey agreed with the practice of defensive medicine, but they had diverse preferences and understanding of specific practices, harms of defensive medicine and physician’s roles.

Purpose A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect information from clinical audiologists about rehabilitation options for adult patients who report significant auditory difficulties despite having normal or near-normal hearing sensitivity. This work aimed to provide more information about what audiologists are currently doing in the clinic to manage auditory difficulties in this patient population and their views on the efficacy of recommended rehabilitation methods. Method A questionnaire survey containing multiple-choice and open-ended questions was developed and disseminated online. Invitations to participate were delivered via e-mail listservs and through business cards provided at annual audiology conferences. All responses were anonymous at the time of data collection. Results Responses were collected from 209 participants. The majority of participants reported seeing at least one normal-hearing patient per month who reported significant communication difficulties. However, few respondents indicated that their location had specific protocols for the treatment of these patients. Counseling was reported as the most frequent rehabilitation method, but results revealed that audiologists across various work settings are also successfully starting to fit patients with mild-gain hearing aids. Responses indicated that patient compliance with computer-based auditory training methods was regarded as low, with patients generally preferring device-based rehabilitation options. Conclusions Results from this questionnaire survey strongly suggest that audiologists frequently see normal-hearing patients who report auditory difficulties, but that few clinicians are equipped with established protocols for diagnosis and management. While many feel that mild-gain hearing aids provide considerable benefit for these patients, very little research has been conducted to date to support the use of hearing aids or other rehabilitation options for this unique patient population. This study reveals the critical need for additional research to establish evidence-based practice guidelines that will empower clinicians to provide a high level of clinical care and effective rehabilitation strategies to these patients.
