This paper focuses on the maintenance of automotive stamping automation equipment. Through long-term self-study and accumulated experience, we independently developed a process monitoring system based on the three pumping stations of clutch, tension pad and lubrication in the stamping automation production line, which is used for real-time monitoring and diagnosis in the automatic production process without stopping the machine, and for the detection of oil temperature change, high-pressure pipeline leakage and oil return pipe In this paper, the improved case has strong practicability, low development cost, and has been recognized by peers in terms of cost efficiency improvement, which is easy to be popularized.

Since its first introduction in clinical practice in 2008, the concept of mobile stroke unit enabling prehospital stroke treatment has rapidly expanded worldwide. This review summarises current knowledge in this young field of stroke research, discussing topics such as benefits in reduction of delay before treatment, vascular imaging-based triage of patients with large-vessel occlusion in the field, differential blood pressure management or prehospital antagonisation of anticoagulants. However, before mobile stroke units can become routine, several questions remain to be answered. Current research, therefore, focuses on safety, long-term medical benefit, best setting and cost-efficiency as crucial determinants for the sustainability of this novel strategy of acute stroke management.

Internal volutes have a constant outer radius, slightly larger than the diffuser exit radius, and the circumferential increase of the cross section is accommodated by a decrease of the inner radius. They allow the design of compact radial compressors and hence are very attractive for turbochargers and high-pressure pipeline compressors, where small housing diameters have a favorable impact on weight and cost. Internal volutes, however, have higher losses and lower pressure rise than external ones, in which the center of the cross sections is located at a larger radius than the diffuser exit. This paper focuses on the improvement of the internal volute performance by taking into account the interaction between the diffuser and the volute. Two alternative configurations with enhanced aerodynamic performance are presented. The first one features a novel, nonaxisymmetric diffuser̸internal volute combination. It demonstrates an increased pressure ratio and lower loss over most of the operating range at all rotational speeds compared with a symmetric diffuser̸internal volute combination. The circumferential pressure distortion at off design operation is slightly larger than in the original configuration with a concentric vaneless diffuser. Alternatively, a parallel-walled diffuser with low-solidity vanes and an internal volute allows a reduction of the unsteady load on the impeller and an improved performance, approaching that of a vaneless concentric diffuser with a large external volute.

Based on pipeline material performance, considered welding arc force and its mining action, selected double ellipsoidal heat source model, simulated welding process of of high-pressure pipeline, analysised welding temperature field and stress field, determined the distribution disciplines of welding stress, provides useful help on exploring the disciplines of pipeline welding.

PurposeThis paper empirically examines the short-term and long-term associations between risk, capital and efficiency (R-C-E) in the Indian banking sector across 2008–2019 to answer the presence of causation or contemporaneousness in the R-C-E nexus.Design/methodology/approachThe paper focuses on three objectives. First, the authors determine short-term causality in the risk–efficiency relationship by studying the simultaneous influence of a wide array of banking risks on DEA-based technical and cost efficiency in static and dynamic situations. Second, the authors introduce bank capital and contemporaneously determine the interplay between R-C-E using seemingly unrelated regression equation (SURE) and three-staged least squares (3SLS). Last, the authors assess stability in inter-temporal associations using Granger causality in an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) generalized method of moments (GMM) framework.FindingsThe authors contend that high capital buffers reduce insolvency risk and increase bank stability. Technically efficient banks carry lesser equity buffers, suggesting a trade-off between capital and efficiency. However, capitalization makes banks more technically efficient but not cost-efficient, implying that over-capitalization creates cost inefficiencies, which, in line with the cost skimping hypothesis, forces banks to undertake risk. Concerning causal relationships, the authors conclude that inefficiency Granger-causes insolvency and increases bank risk. Further, steady increases in capital precede technical and cost efficiency improvements. The converse also holds as more efficient banks depict temporal increases in capitalization levels.Originality/valueThe paper is perhaps the first that acknowledges the influence of the “time” perspective on the R-C-E nexus in an emerging economy and advocates that prudential regulations must focus on short-term and long-term intricacies among the triumvirate to foster a stable banking environment.

With the number of bank consolidations increasing around the world since the 1990s, several studies have examined what factors drive banks to consolidate, and some argue that bank managers who have a motive of empire buildings choose mergers. In this study, we deal with mergers among Japanese small mutual banks (credit associations or Shinkin banks) during the period 1996 to 2005. Japanese credit associations have been experiencing an unprecedented wave of consolidation, with their number decreasing from 410 (March 1996) to 292 (April 2006). Interestingly, unlike stock companies, mutual companies are often expected to be weak in terms of disciplining managers. If so, mutual banks tend to choose inefficient mergers at the expense of other stakeholders. Here, we use the stochastic frontier approach (SFA) to obtain “cost efficiency” proxy. We find that while the efficiency of acquiring credit associations decreases during the merger period, mergers do ultimately improve efficiency. Based on our results we find that raising efficiency, not for building empires, is an important goal for such credit association mergers.

Network regulation is playing an active role in a context of restructuring energy systems for long term transition to a smart grid. Regulation of network companies' activities should consider both cost efficiency objectives and other objectives such as quality and network innovation. It is in this context that incentive regulation tools are discussed and assessed in this paper. The aim is to show their key features and how they could be aligned with the main regulation goals. This paper concludes that they should be considered as complementary tools to address conflicting regulatory aspects in an efficient manner.

The economic system recognizes the role of the financial system as an important cog in its machinery. Several theoretical and empirical studies have evidenced its contributing role to the economy. Within the overall financial system, the Islamic financial system ensures the increase in productivity of capital as well as in the synchronization between the incomes of the rich and the poor. Mudarabah companies stay at the forefront of the Islamic financial system. Their knowledge-intensive approach helps the allocation of resources in long-term ventures and, because of their participation-based setup, they can theoretically cause a trickle-down effect via their redistribution process from the borrower to the lender. Practically, though, this requires the financial institutes such as Mudarabah to be cost-efficient. This chapter explores specifically how efficient Mudarabah companies of Pakistan are in terms of cost minimization, and investigates whether different dimensions of intellectual capital can improve cost efficiency.
