Primigravida women mostly experience prolonged progress of labor due to the stiff birth canal. There are several positions of labor that may accelerate cervix dilatation process including squatting. This study aimed to determine the effect of left lateral position and squatting position on the progress of the active phase of the first stage of labor among primigravida women. This was a pre-experimental study with Pre test - post test approach. The population was all primigravida women in labor at Private Practive Midwife Istikomah, Amd.Keb., Sampung Subdistrict, Ponorogo District, taken  with an accidental sampling technique which obtained 9 respondents. The independent variable was labour position, while the dependent variable was duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor. The data collection instrument used here was observation sheet. The results were analyzed using Paired sample T-test (α=0,05). The results showed that before the application of left lateral and squatting positions in VT 1, all 9 respondents (100%) had normal labour progress and after the application of left lateral and squatting positions in VT 2, most respondents (77.8%) had labour progress in short category. The analysis obtained a p-value=0.000<α=0.05. Thus, there was an effect of left lateral position and squatting position on the progress of the active phase of the first stage of labor among primigravida women. The combination of squatting and left lateral positions during labour seems to accelerate the progress of the active phase of the first stage of labor with minimal side effects.

Massage effleurage is a touch or gentle, slow, long and unbroken stroke using the tips of the fingers. This massage effleurage aims to make mothers feel comfortable and relaxed, close the gate of pain and increase endorphin hormone production. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of massage effleurage on labor pain intensity and opening of the first phase of the birth pathway in the active phase at the Pratama Nining Pelawati Clinic, Lubuk Pakam District. The research method used was quasi-experimental (Quasi Experiment) with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study were all mothers in the first phase of primigravida, the sample in this study was 18 respondents with a sampling technique using accidental sampling in accordance with inclusion criteria. The results showed that by using the Paired Sample T-Test analysis of massage effleurage to reduce the intensity of labor pain where the p-value of 0.001 <α = 0.05, it can be concluded that there was an effect of giving massage effleurage on the intensity of the first stage of postgravida pain active phase. However, there is no effect of giving massage effleurage to the acceleration of opening of the birth canal.

Pain during labor is caused by the first stage of labor in which contractions cause dilation and thinning of the cervix and uterine ischemia due to contraction of the myometrial arteries. These contractions cause the opening of the cervix to begin labor. Various attempts are made to reduce labor pain, both pharmacologically and non-pharmacological. The non-pharmacological method applied is a distraction with birth balls. The research aims to prove the effectiveness of the use of birthing ball on the reduction of labor pain in the first stage of labor in the active phase. This study used an experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was 20 maternity mothers at the Lompoe Health Center, who received treatment and 20 people as control samples. It applied the purposive sampling technique. The instrument of observation was the pain scale using the Faces Pain Rating Scale. Data processing using the Wilcoxon-test to determine the effect of the treatment given. Based on the results of the bivariate analysis showed that the p-value is <0,001. In conclusion, there is an influence of using the birthing ball to reduce the level of pain in the first stage of labor in the active mother.

Mothers who are facing the labor process will feel pain related to uterine contractions, various ways have done to reduce pain, namely by non-pharmacological techniques, including deep breathing relaxation, massage, changes in the mother's position so that labor can run safely and comfortably. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breath relaxation techniques on pain intensity in the active phase of labor. This research is a quasi-experimental design approach method pre test and post test. The sampling technique used accidental sampling as many as 28 mothers had birth in July - August BPM Y Karawang. The results of the data normality statistical test used the Shapiro-Wilk test. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test obtained signed rank p value 0.0000 <0.05. The conclusion are that there are an effect of deep breath relaxation techniques on decreasing the pain intensity of the active phase of labor. The suggestion of this study is that deep breath relaxation techniques can be recommended as a complementary tearpie and applied to relieve pain during labor, so that labor can run smoothly

Background: Problems in childbirth, including old labor, which is one of the causes of death for mothers and newborns, is still widely found in Indonesia. Factors that influence labor to take longer are abnormal presentation, inadequate contractions, birth canal abnormalities, multiple pregnancies and anemia. To deal with prolonged labor, the UK has introduced active birth techniques. Hypnobirthing is one of the active birth methods that can be used during the first stage of labor. This research purposes to study the effect of the application of the active birth technique using hypnobirthing on the progress of the first stage of labor in the mother. Methods: This type of research was quasi experimental with the post-test only design approach. This research was conducted from 15 May to 18 August 2020, in 4 independent practice midwives (BPM) Padang City in 2020. Data were collected through observation sheets using non-probability sampling techniques, namely purposive sampling with a total sample of 15 samples. Data were collected using observation sheets. Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analysis using the dependent T-test.Results: The results showed that the mean labor progress using hypnobirthing was 3.67 and SD±1.49 with a minimum value of 1 and a maximum of 6. Based on the statistical test, the p value was 0.000 (p<0.05).Conclusions: There is the effect of the application of active birth techniques using hypnobirthing on the progress of stage I labor in maternal labor.

Birth pain can cause maternal discomfort such as fatigue, frustration, despair, and stress. The preliminary survey at PMB Ernita of Pekanbaru showed that there were 60% of the mothers that suffered moderate pain and 40% of them experienced severe pain. The intensity of labor pain can be reduced by giving a rose effleurage that can produce endorphin so that it stimulates a sense of relaxation. This pre-experimental research used a one group pre-test study post-test design carried out in March to June 2018. The population was primigravidae  mothers in the first stage of labor taken using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the average intensity of pain in parturient women before and after administration of rose effleurage was 6.00 and 4.60, respectively. The result of statistic test with Wilcoxon test on 95% confidence degree showed that there was the effect of rose effleurage stage on pain intensity in the active stage of labor (p value = 0.000). It is then suggested that rose effleurage can be applied as an alternative method which aims to reduce the intensity of labor pain at the time of active phase.
