The paper was written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Vladimir Šolaja, a full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, to remind his numerous students and associates and the wider engineering public in the field of mechanical engineering of his life and work. It contains basic data from the working biography and its most important contributions to the improvement of educational curricula and organizing of scientific research work in the field of production engineering in Serbia in the second half of the 20th century and research on the history of engineering in Serbia.

Статья посвящена недостаточно изученному вопросу в истории российской психологии - деятельности отечественных психологов в годы Первой мировой войны. Авторы обобщили найденные на данный момент сведения о нахождении и роли разных психологов как в военных событиях, так и в научной и общественной жизни того времени. Представляются три группы персоналий в зависимости от того, в каком положении по отношению к военным действиям они оказались: участие в действующей армии; пребывание в Германии во время войны в качестве пленного гражданского лица; жизнь и научная деятельность в тылу. Среди психологов, которые служили в армии во время Первой мировой войны, рассматриваются биографические данные и воспоминания П.Н. Шефтеля, Г.Я. Трошина, В.Ф, Чижа, А.Б. Залкинда, И.А. Арямова, Л.Н. Войтоловского, А.А. Смирнова, Б.М. Теплова, М.Я. Басова, Л.А. Бызова, М.В. Шика. К группе психологов, которые оказались в Германии во время войны, относятся А.О. Маковельский, А.Ф. Лосев, И.Н. Шпильрейн, Н.Е. Румянцев. Описываются результаты научных событий, состоявшихся в России в годы Первой мировой войны, - Третий и Четвертый Всероссийские съезды по экспериментальной педагогике, исследовательские работы в Психологическом институте им. Л.Г. Щукиной, коллективные публикации. Отмечается, что обращение к деятельности психологов во время Первой мировой войны является важным с позиций не только истории психологии, но и исторической психологии: кроме изучения жизненного пути персоналий и анализа результатов научных исследований этого периода представляет интерес и описание образа и роли ученого в военное время, особенностей научной активности в военных условиях. Авторы статьи призывают профессиональное сообщество дополнить список персоналий, которые принимали участие в Первой мировой войне и на которых война оказала значимое влияние, и другими именами. The article is devoted to an insufficiently studied issue in the history of Russian psychology - the activities of Russian psychologists during the First World War. The authors summarized the information found to date about the location and role of various psychologists both in military events and in the scientific and social life of that time. Three groups of personalities are presented, depending on the position in which they found themselves in relation to military operations: participation in the active army; stay in Germany during the war as a captured civilian; life and scientific activities in the rear. Among psychologists who served in the army during the First World War, the authors describe the biographical data and memories of P.N. Sheftel, G. Ya. Troshin, V.F. Chizh, A.B. Zalkind, I.A. Aryamov, L.N. Voitolovsky, A.A. Smirnov, B.M. Teplov, M.Ya. Basov, L.A. Byzov, M.V. Shik. The group of psychologists who remained in Germany includes A.O. Makovelsky, A.F. Losev, I.N. Spielrein, N.E. Rumyantsev. The article describes the results of scientific events in Russia that took place during the First World War - the Third and Fourth All-Russian congresses on experimental pedagogy, research work at the Psychological institute named after L.G. Shchukina, collective publications. It is noted that the appeal to the activities of psychologists during the First World War is important from the standpoint of both history of psychology and historical psychology: in addition to studying the life path of personalities and analyzing the results of scientific research of this period, it is also of interest to describe the image and role of a scientist in wartime, features of scientific activity in war conditions. The authors of the article urge the professional community to add other names to the list of personalities who took part in the First World War and on whom the war had a significant impact.

The article deals with the history of establishing the Association, information about firms, organizations and enterprises which comprise it, results of joint activity in the educational and scientific fields of agricultural branches. There is also a list of practical training bases of the Academy Departments established with the help of scientific research and commercial institutions. It is also noted that the results of basic and exploratory research fulfilled by organizations and institutions which are parts of the Association are in great demand in scientific research institutes and higher educational organizations of veterinarian and biological profile. The article also states what events are necessary to be held for more effective implementation of joint research and educational work.

On the basis of archival sources material, financial and household factors are characterized. They formed the conditions for the research work of teachers of the departments of history of pedagogical institutes of Ukraine. The state of providing the scientific literature of historical offices and libraries is revealed. It was found that the proper conditions for work in the history rooms and libraries of pedagogical institutes were created only at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute. In provincial pedagogical institutes, the situation with the scientific literature seemed much worse. To overcome the problems with the scientific literature, the state began to allocate some funds for the purchase of domestic and foreign publications. The level of funding for scientific activities has been clarified. It is established that the focus of attention of the Directorate of the Pedagogical Institutes of Ukraine was primarily the educational process and work on the restoration of the destroyed material base. Funds for business trips were not enough. Funds were not enough even to secure approved research plans. The reasons which influenced the budget of time of scientific work of teachers-historians were determined. The major impediments to the scientific work of the teachers of the departments of the history of pedagogical institutes were their heavy workload of teaching and community work. Typographic possibilities for printing the results of scientific work are investigated. Most pedagogical institutes were found to lack their own printing facilities. Delay with the printing of monographs, articles, abstracts meant the transfer of dissertations to a later date. The pathetic material status of teachers of pedagogical institutes also had a negative impact on scientific activity. There were no laboratories for the study of history, archeology, and ethnography in pedagogical institutes. This reduced the level of research and prevented the strengthening of the material base. The departments of history of pedagogical institutes and self-calculated researches were not conducted. The conducted research helps to form an understanding of the conditions of development of historical science in pedagogical institutes.

The article is devoted to the history of the formation and development of science in Karakalpakstan. It is stated that in 1931 the Karakalpak Integrated Research Institute was established in Turtkul. In the pre-war period, this institute was reorganized several times, as a result of which difficulties arose in coordinating scientific and research work in Karakalpakstan. In 1947, it was transferred to the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. In 1959, the Karakalpak affiliate of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic was organized on the basis of the Karakalpak Integrated Research Institute, which made it possible to coordinate and develop fundamental scientific research in the republic. The scientists focused on topical issues of the development of the economy and culture of the republic, in particular, the study of natural resources, material and spiritual culture of the Karakalpak people. The author claims that a new stage in the development of this scientific center begins in 1991, when the Karakalpak affiliate of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan receives the status of the Karakalpak branch. The author critically assesses the period of development of science in Karakalpakstan in the 1990s, while claiming that this scientific institution has risen to new stages of its development and certain achievements have been achieved. In the article are considered the main moral-ethical research ukrainian soviet philosophy E. Fedorenko. Based on the conducted theoretical reconstruction of scientific-research activity scientist was defined the direction his scientific research, this: the study of ethical problems from the history ethical teachings to relevant questions current life, development of methodological problems history-ethical researches, research work and moral-ethical enlightenment. From the analysis of scientific heritage E. Fedorenko was determined the basis moments his scientific activity, first of all, this investigation of occurrence and originality the theoretical ethic, research in the field social-economic and ideological basics moral and installation its relationship with others forms the social consciousness. He tried to find his own, special for scientific justification moral and designing ethics of the future perfect the soviet human. However, main merit E. Fedorenko, like most soviet scientists, there was an attempt to show, what domestic soviet ethics the gradually departs from inherent in it the ideological form soviet marxism, from moralistic philosophy.

ABSTRACT This paper is focused on the meteorite collection that belonged to the Italian naturalist and geologist Teodoro Monticelli (1759–1845). Today he is mainly remembered as both the author of books and essays on the volcanic activity of Mount Vesuvius and as the owner of a mineralogical cabinet of more than 16,000 specimens. Monticelli’s scientific activity as a meteorite collector is, however, largely forgotten. This contribution presents for the first time the meteorite collection that belonged to Teodoro Monticelli and is now preserved at the Royal Mineralogical Museum of Naples. We reconstruct the history of the collection and argue that it represents an exceptional example of historical heritage. We also highlight the potential of the collection as a scientific research tool.

In this article the author presents an analysis of the history of the “Proceedings” of the Orenburg Scientific Archive Commission (osac) as a historical source. In the course of the thirty years of its activities, the osac has done great work sorting out of archival files of the Orenburg Governor-General’s office and the archives of other institutions of the province, as well as of the archival institutions in other regions. From the beginning the osac’s members were engaged in active scientific-research work and publication of sources. By the efforts of the osac activists, 35 volumes of “Proceedings” have been published.

The Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is an heir to the Faculty of Technology of the School of Naval Cadets established in Toruń in 1931. This article presents the most important events associated with the development of the faculty in its eighty-five years of uninterrupted activity, including the WW II period in Great Britain, when the first in the history of Poland maritime school abroad, was established aboard ORP ‘Gdynia’ in the British sea base of Devenport. The first part of the article concludes in 1955, i.e. the moment the Higher Naval School (undergraduate school) was established. The second part will cover the period of 1955–2016, i.e. the Naval High School and the Naval Academy.
