Gender attitude is the concept defines the roles and behaviors that society and cultural structure expect from women and men throughout their lives. Gender equality emphasizes that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities and should not be gender-dependent. On the other hand, gender inequality can be defined as inequality in accessing resources and opportunities by sex. The effects of gender inequality can be observed in couples' relationships and social events in daily life. It is not possible to deny the role of gender inequality on people’s and society’s happiness level since it is one of the most important dynamics of social life. In this study, the relationship between gender attitudes and happiness perceptions of individuals were analyzed by using micro data. Within the scope of the study “Attitude Scale Regarding Gender Roles”, which is validated and reliable in the literature, was applied to a randomly selected sample. The sample was designed using both multistage sampling and stratified sampling techniques together. Stratification was planned on the basis of faculties. The prepared questionnaire was applied to a random sample of 3403 university students. The data collected were analyzed by homogeneity analysis and two-step cluster analysis, which are some of the Optimal Scaled Multivariate Analysis techniques. According to the results, it was observed that individuals whose gender attitude is relatively egalitarian are moderately happy and also, are the happiest with themselves. In addition, it is remarkable that the categories of success and love are closely located. Individuals with relatively more traditional attitude describe themselves as very happy. Additively it was determined that their source of happiness is their families, while the concept that makes them most happy is “health”. The findings are corroborated with the two-step cluster analysis results.

AbstractAutistic university students face extra challenges in both their academic and social life. Barriers to socialising appear to be less well understood and supported by universities than academic requirements. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten autistic university students to explore their social experiences. Questions explored their social experiences, satisfaction with social life, disclosure of ASD to others, and the impact of mental wellbeing on university life. Thematic analysis indicated most participants were unsatisfied with their social lives and experienced mental health issues. Factors exacerbating social isolation included lack of suitable social events, lack of social support and feeling unable to disclose to peers. Factors which reduced social isolation included joining an autism or special interest society and receiving social mentoring.

In social life, the first thing that you will notice is the gender of the person we met. It is a fundamental and obvious thing before we can have an interaction or communication with somebody else. Over the last decade, the popularity of incorporating advances in information systems and information technology (IS/IT) has been steadily growing. IS/IT can improve the delivery for better intervention and treatment with many different mental illnesses; however, there appears to be great potential for IS/IT in the context of young adults with mental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD affects approximately 11% of the university population; negatively impacting students' academic performance, study skills, and social life. The study design outlined in this paper suggests a possibility for the role of IS/IT in the delivery of treatments and management of ADHD in university students to be examined with the view to introduce IS/IT into the traditional treatment context. This research involves collecting data from psychologists in the form of semi-structured interviews and a grounded theory methodology using multiple cases is adopted.

Initially equality seems to be a very simple and obvious category for understanding, however if this has been actually thecase we would be living in a perfect society. Equality always exists together with inequality. The assurance and implementationof gender parity is an up-to-date issue not only for Ukraine but for all democratic countries. The practical implementation of theprinciple of gender equality is to be set forth by increasing the level of democracy of the very same gender-legal relations withina society and their further development based on the principles of parity for both genders. The issue is to be settled within acomplex approach, considering the theoretic achievements in the issue of gender, but also the practices of its implementation inall the spheres of social life. In this context it is necessary to develop a strategy of gender policy in a state and systematicallyassess the state of its implementation. The achievement of gender symmetry in Ukraine is impossible without the appropriatefixation of provisions within the norms of current legislation, and the establishment of a legal state, the development of civilsociety, the perspectives of European integration provide for the necessity to establish gender legislation and the effective policyof equal rights for men and women. The author of the article analyses the normative fixation of the mechanism of gendercommunication and its role, the probability of achieving gender symmetry in the Concept of communication in the sphere ofgender equality, that has been approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 16 of September 2020 № 1128-р.The analysis is aimed at the ways of improving understanding the essence of gender issues, instruments, resources and levelsof gender communication stipulated in the Concept. Their critical assessment is provided with regard to the possibilities ofpractical implementation in the course of the years 2020-2025.It is obvious that the gender issue in Ukraine is to be settled in a complex and consequent manner, considering the positiveexperience of foreign countries and the national traditions and mentality of the Ukrainian nation, in order to avoid hastydecisions and prevent taking unpopular steps.

Nowadays, the role of English in teaching sociology has been increasing significantly, as far as the English language is an international medium of academic communication worldwide. Polish universities also follow this global trend. Students are offered not only general English courses but also specialised facultative courses in English. Taking into account the last one, a reflexive qualitative research has been carried out at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, the Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw. The objective of four face-to-face expert interviews with the academic teachers was exploring teaching methods and techniques, as well as difficulties in the process of teaching sociology with the use of English as a foreign language. An expert interview was designed starting from the teaching background, followed by teaching reflections on their didactic practice and ending with the academic teachers’ thoughts on the role of English in sociology. The following issues were considered: 1) methods and techniques of incorporating English in teaching sociology to Polish students; 2) strategies of motivating students to use English in sociology; 3) the perception of difficulties; 4) reflections on empowering students. The research results in the field of the sociological facultative English-based courses revealed the dominance of some ways of using the language over others. All experts acknowledged that they aimed to develop sociological English through the communicative and task-based approaches. They engaged students in reading sociological texts and critically discussed them. Some of the academic teachers referred also to watching and listening to native speakers as important ways to activate students during their classes. Moreover, the experts took into account students specific interests and encouraged them to prepare a presentation or to write a short essay. Some experts used also the collaborative methods when students were involved in group projects and group presentations. In general, the experts developed interesting and important topics of social life and research to strengthen the students’ intrinsic motivation. It was noticed that the presence of foreign students becomes a reasonable factor of improving English-based communication among Polish and foreign students in classroom. The experts pointed out that there were various linguistic, psychological and institutional barriers in teaching sociological subjects in English for Polish university students. Nevertheless, they tried to overcome those obstacles whenever it was possible.

This chapter traces the origins, evolution, and debate on both the concept and term feminism. It establishes that feminism comprises a number of social, cultural, and political movements; theories; and moral philosophies concerned with gender inequalities and equal rights for women. The chapter establishes that feminism is a generalised, wide-ranging system of ideas about social life and human experience developed from a woman-centred perspective. It focuses on the inequalities between men and women and the efforts to advance the social role of women. Feminism is believed to have passed through stages: the first wave, the second wave, and the third wave. The subsequent waves of feminism came as a response to the perceived weaknesses and failures of their predecessors. This introductory chapter gives an overview of both the concept and the term feminism. The chapter ends with a discussion on scientific research into feminist issues.

This paper develops the sociological conception of subjectivity, which recognizes the key role of cultural and linguistic meanings in social life. J. Šubrt’s concept of “duplex” could help to overcome the theoretical dilemma between individualism (subjectivism) and holism (objectivism) in sociology. This concept is inspired by the critical realism of I. A. Bláha and takes into account perspectives from the philosophy of language, phenomenology, the classical sociology of G. H. Mead, and the contemporary critical realism of M. Archer. The focus of the duplex concept is the interactive and procedural nature of meanings (mental representations). The argument in favour of the interactive and pluralistic conception of the subject of social events derives from this attribute of meaning.
