Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is one of the rabble rousing, undisputable and charismatic leaders in the global history. Due to his inherent and extra ordinary qualities he gained the trust, support and hope of the general peoples (East-Bengalis). This paper aims to review the key roles played by him for uplifting the agricultural sector of Bangladesh. Bangladesh wouldn’t become independent and a sovereign country without his bold contribution. After the bloody liberation war of 1971; the country had a poor and fragile economy and shortage of all sorts of basic needs specially food. After the formation of government, the leader took revolutionary steps for reformation of the agricultural sector of the country. From his intuition he felt that, for agricultural development and gaining self-sufficiency in food production; some major changes have to be done. Thus, he put special emphasis on agricultural education, research, extension, industries and markets; he also waived the taxes on agricultural lands. To encourage innovative and talented students to study agriculture; he upgraded the status of the agriculturists to first class officer. Bangabandhu’s vision was clear, challenging and reality based. He decorated the agricultural policies basing on the farmers and their economic conditions. The leader put special importance in practicing integrated agriculture so that we may get all types of food (cereal, pulse, oil, vegetable, fruits, fish, and livestock). Due to his dynamic efforts and future guidelines at that time (1972-1975); today Bangladesh has not only achieved food security but also became a role model for agricultural development globally. Through his ideology and principles Bangladesh is moving rapidly forward to become a developed country by 2041.

The absence of well-developed agricultural information systems (AGRIS) has continued to hinder agricultural development in Africa. Efforts designed to modernize agriculture through AGRIS by the public and private sectors have been hindered by administrative bottlenecks, weak political will from governments, display of ineptitude by farmers/associations, and institutional corruption. In view of the foregoing, this chapter discusses AGRIS as a catalyst for SDGs in Africa. An effective AGRIS will strengthen decisions on the general management of the agricultural sector. Deploying the AGRIS for the management of agriculture will boost food production, increase the GDPs and directly strengthen the actualization of SDG 1, SDG 2, SDG 3, SDG 8, SDG 9, SDG 10, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 14, SDG 15, SDG 17, and indirectly impact other SDGs. Ultimately, this chapter suggests leveraging AGRIS for mitigating all the identified challenges to agricultural development in the continent.

This paper analyzes agricultural development in terms of policy and implementation in Nepal. More than two-thirds populations in Nepal reside in the rural area and most of them depend on agriculture. Subsistence form of agriculture is common in Nepal. Rural Area and agriculture are interrelated; like two parts of the same coin. The contribution of agriculture to national Gross Domestic Product is remarkable; however, it is declining over the decades. In fact, the agricultural sector cannot attract young people; the trend of migration from rural to urban is significantly increasing. The poverty is exceedingly marked in rural Nepal. The Government of Nepal emphasizes agriculture development in for poverty alleviation. Order to alleviate poverty, rural development, and national economic growth through the policy level. However, available data and qualitative analysis reveal that the outcome from the agricultural sector is not satisfactory due to several factors. In such situation, more than half of the population has been facing food insufficiency. Because of weak policy and implementation, the agriculture sector s been suffering poor outcome. In that way, the government of Nepal along with concerned authorities should effectively implement agriculture policies in order to reduce poverty and rural development. The agriculture-rural accommodating policies and successful performance are crucial for poverty alleviation and rural development.

This research was conducted to examine the impact of empowering and fostering innovation of peasants as an activity that summarizes the values to build a new paradigm in agricultural development. The role of the agricultural sector is very strategic, not only in order to achieve food self-sufficiency but also in order to expand non-oil and gas foreign exchange sources. The purpose of this study is to see the impact of the strategy and pattern of relations between the Aceh Community Empowerment Institution (LPMA) in implementing the empowerment program and fostering farmer innovation in Nisam District, North Aceh Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The phenomenon of poverty for the people in Nisam District, North Aceh generally comes from the agricultural sector due to the lack of support for knowledge and business capital. This empowerment activity is carried out by the Aceh Community Empowerment Institute (LPMA), a non-governmental organization. Research shows that the optimization of empowerment and innovation carried out by LPMA has contributed to increasing community empowerment and also contributed to business partnerships for poor farmers to increase community empowerment.

AbstrakJumlah penduduk yang semakin meningkat diikuti dengan selarasnya kebutuhan pangan namun tidak diikuti dengan peningkatan sektor pertanian di Indonesia ditunjukkan dengan semakin berkurangnya minat anak muda di bidang pertanian. Permasalahan mengenai penurunan minat anak muda di pertanian hakikatnya menjadi perhatian khusus dari berbagai pihak karena menjadi faktor penghambat pertumbuhan pembangunan pertanian. SD Negri 01 Manang merupakan mitra yang tepat untuk diberikannya kurikulum pendidikan anak yang diselipkan arti penting pertanian sehingga dari masa kanak-kanak potensi pertanian untuk masa depan tertanam dalam pola pikir mereka. Solusi mengenai model edukasi pertanian sejak dini dirasa sangat tepat menarik minat anak-anak dan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan, kemampuan dan kesenangan setiap anak sehingga dampaknya dapat meminimumkan dampak ketidaktertarikan generasi muda terhadap bidang pertanian. Program Agroschooling memiliki tujuan untuk mengenalkan kepada anak-anak sekolah dasar mengenai pentingnya dunia pertanian dan pengelolaan lingkungan alam sekitar. Metode yang diberikan dalam program agroschooling anak-anak SD menonton secara virtual video tentang pertanian, kemudian ditanyai dengan beberapa pertanyaan di kuesioner dengan bantuan mahasiswa mengenai cita-cita dan kesukaan di bidang pertanian. Acara dilanjutkan dengan penanaman tanaman di ikuti dengan pertanyaan kuesioner untuk menanyai apakah ada yang ingin berganti cita-cita setelah mengikuti program Agrochooling. Data-data tersebut di analisis menggunakan linkert dan diinputkan dalam rating scale. Selain itu digunakan analisis before dan after untuk melihat peningkatan anak-anak yang ingin bekerja di sektor pertanian sebelum dan sesudah diadakan program Agroshcooling. Survei awal membuktikan bahwa sebanyak 0% dari siswa dan siswi SD yang bercita-cita ingin bekerja di sektor pertanian. Peningkatan persentase keinginan bekerja para siswa dan siswi di SD 01 Manang di bidang pertanian terjadi sebanyak 15,38% setelah diadakannya program Agroschooling. Persepsi para siswa dan siswi terhadap kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat mengenai agroschooling masuk ke dalam kategori� baik. Harapannya akan adanya kelanjutan pengabdian dengan survey ketertarikan siswa terhadap pertanian. �Kata kunci: Pertanian; Agroschooling�AbstractIncreasing population followed by harmonious food needs but not followed by an increase in the agricultural sector in Indonesia is shown by the decreasing interest of young people in agriculture. The problem regarding the decline of young people's interest in agriculture is of particular concern to various parties because it is a factor inhibiting the growth of agricultural development. SD Negri 01 Manang is the right partner for child education curriculum which is tucked in the importance of agriculture so that from childhood childhood the potential of agriculture for the future is embedded in their mindset. The solution regarding the agricultural education model from the beginning is felt to be very appropriate to attract the interests of children and adapted to the needs, abilities and enjoyment of children so that the impact can minimize the impact of the young generation's disinterest in agriculture. The method given in the agroschooling program for elementary school children watched a virtual video about agriculture, then was asked a number of questions in the questionnaire with the help of students about their ideals and preferences in agriculture. The program was followed by planting plants followed by questionnaire questions to ask if anyone wanted to change their goals after joining the Agrochooling program. The data is analyzed using linkert and entered in the rating scale. Also used before and after analysis to see the increase in children who want to work in the agricultural sector before and after the Agroshcooling program was held. The Agroschooling Program aims to introduce elementary school children about the importance of agriculture and the management of the surrounding natural environment. Initial survey prove that as many as 0% of elementary school students want to work in the agricultural sector. The increase in the percentage of students wanting to work at SD 01 Manang in agriculture occurred as much as 15.38%. The perception of students and students of community service activities regarding agroschooling into the good category. Agricultural policy is a government effort in regulating, controlling aspects of development in the agricultural sector with the aim of maintaining and increasing food yields. The great results of the objectives of agricultural policies will be able to be realized if they can be translated into concrete steps and can be implemented consistently in the field. Agricultural policy directions try to see the concept of policies developed and practices to realize the goals of agricultural policies in Indonesia. This study focuses on institutions, regulations and issues of inadequate budget allocation, human resources that are less qualified in the management of land and agricultural products. The purpose of this study is to describe the direction of Indonesian agricultural policy in facing the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0. This research uses qualitative research with a literature review approach. The results showed that there was no synchronization of agricultural policies at various levels of government, low budgets for agricultural development, spatial production practices at the expense of agricultural land in boosting regional income and the low utilization of technology and diversification in the use of agricultural technology showed that agricultural conditions in Indonesia were at an alarming level. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately synchronize agricultural policies at various levels of government and the allocation policies for agricultural development funds.

<p>Peri-Fusion housing is an integrated densified housing and agricultural model, that this thesis proposes as an alternative to the current problematic suburban model prevalent in New Zealand’s peri-urban zones. Suburban sprawl driven by the single storey housing model, New Zealander’s desire towards standalone housing, and the loss of fertile agricultural land are all driving issues behind this proposed PeriFusion housing. This research defines the periurban zones as areas of unknown development surrounding New Zealand’s towns and cities, addressing the increasing rigid, concreteclad, urban perimeter invading further into agricultural fertile land. Peri Fusion design strategies are established to test and develop a new integrated housing model, aiming to achieve attractive densified living, that is integrated with preserved agricultural land. This proposed housing development model could achieve a resilient flexible system of land use, where housing is integrated into a natural agricultural and horticultural resource cycle. This thesis includes typological research and a design-led research methodology. Literature and case studies were reviewed initially to define common traits of successful low-rise high-density housing, spatial agricultural landscaping typologies, agricultural integration and agricultural ownership. From these reviews, Peri-Fusion design tactics were derived to form a basis for testing in the design-led research methodological step. These tactics included the adaptive iterations and application of the ha-ha wall as an agricultural boundary, layered pathways between humans, vehicles and animals, and level change within landscapes. Alongside these main strategies, the integrated operational model was addressed, which included extensive grazing, intensive horticulture dedicated to housing and the inclusion of agricultural education. Also, a basic circular natural resource model was developed to address the operation of water, waste and food production management. In order to measure the success of PeriFusion tactics, Blenheim was established as a case study site for the design-led research. Conceptual and developed design was undertaken, which was reviewed against the Peri-Fusion framework, resulting in a final proposed integrated and densified housing model for the Blenheim case study site. Findings were then tested against the adjacent plot to the site with the same site coverage. This successfully revealed an increase of 131 housing units, decreased average gross floor area from 175m2 to 80.5m2, and an increase of unsealed preserved fertile land by 20%. This resulted in 38% of final model dedicated to agricultural and horticultural food production.</p>

Agricultural policies and schemes are some of the measures through which the Nigerian government has attempted to address some of her challenges in the agricultural sector. Despite the MDGs/SDGs programs, Nigeria is still faced with extreme poverty, hunger, and poor education. Nigeria’s budgetary allocation is still far from meeting international recommendations of 25% by FAO. Laudable and well thought out agricultural schemes such as “Operation feed the nation”, “Green Revolution”, “River Basin Development”, “Agricultural Development Project” etc were government policies and schemes geared towards the provision of agricultural solutions. If objectives of the SDGs be realized in the country, issues of corruption, insecurity, proper education, and awareness creation etc., must be addressed by all stake holders ranging from the financial sector, the government as well as the mass media. The media are faced with challenges of news policies, brown envelops, loss of job opportunities etc., while most youths lack awareness and proper education about agricultural schemes and funding in Nigeria.

Lai Chau province has many potentialities in agricultural development such as climate, soil, diverse topography, support policies of the Government, locality, long tradition of farming...Period 2016 - 2020, the growth rate of the agricultural sector will maintain from 5-6%, the food production is increased, Some dominant crops of the province are being invested for development: tea, medicinal plants, specialty rice...However, the level of deep processing for agricultural products is still low, so the value of goods is not high, the products are mainly consumed in the domestic market, the penetration into supermarkets or export is still limited...Therefore, building a suitable agricultural development orientation will help farmers, businesses, and the Lai Chau province government to have specific solutions in the future to bring high-tech agriculture becomes a key economic direction of the province.
