Aim/Purpose: This study aims to identify the main factors influencing consumers’ adoption of social commerce (s-commerce). Based on the socio-technical theory, the study suggests a research model that investigates the key social and technical factors driving consumers’ decision to purchase from social commerce websites. In addition, the research model explores the interactive relationship among these factors. Background: The phenomenon of social commerce (s-commerce) has emerged due to the increased penetration of social media and the rapid development of Web 2.0 technologies. Electronic commerce (e-commerce) companies have made significant efforts to shift their operations to s-commerce. Therefore, to facilitate their efforts to transform, various research has been conducted to investigate the main factor influencing the adoption of s-commerce. Most of these studies have emphasised the social aspects related to s-commerce design features to understand how the use of advanced web technologies influence how customers interact with each other in s-commerce environments. However, s-commerce is viewed as a socio-technical system that requires the investigation of both social and technical factors to help in the design of effective s-commerce platforms. Methodology: To validate the proposed research model, 418 paper-based and online questionnaires were collected from online shoppers in Jordan. The Structure Equation Modelling (SEM) approach was used to test the proposed hypotheses. Contribution: This study offers a research model that serves as a theoretical framework for investigating customers’ behaviour in s-commerce environment. It represents a strong context-specific model that includes both the technical and social facilitators of s-commerce. The research model participates in gaining an improved understanding of how customers’ intention, actual purchase and post-purchase experience are formed in the s-commerce environment. Findings: The results of Structure Equation Modelling (SEM) reveal that s-commerce constructs, familiarity and user experience have a positive influence on the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of s-commerce. In addition, perceptions of its usefulness and ease of use have a positive influence on trust, which in turn influences the purchase intention and the actual purchase. Finally, the post-purchase experience significantly influences both trust and purchase intention. Recommendations for Practitioners: This study shows that social commerce constructs strengthen customers’ perceptions of usefulness. S-commerce service providers are required to provide their customers with various channels to seek social support. Both familiarity and user experience are key enablers of customers’ perceived ease of use. S-commerce service providers consider the variation in customers’ familiarity and experience with s-commerce websites because this has a significant influence on purchase intentions and behaviour. Consequently, system designers should offer useful and sufficient information and tutorials that effectively guide customers in their searching, decision-making and purchasing activities throughout the shopping process. S-commerce service providers should understand the importance of providing secure payment systems and make their privacy policies clear to customers. Post-purchase experience has an influential role in reinforcing customers’ trust and purchase intention. The findings confirm the important role of post-purchase experience in retaining customers by improving their trust and repurchase intention. Therefore, making a customer’s post-purchase experience pleasant should be a key priority for s-commerce service providers because it has a significant influence on customers’ trust and repurchase intentions. Recommendation for Researchers: This study offers a unidimensional conceptualisation of the design features of s-commerce. These features include three main forms: recommendations and referrals, communities and forums, and reviews and ratings. Such conceptualisation provides additional insights and an understanding of the activities of information sharing in s-commerce. The significance of the technical side of s-commerce is highlighted and empirical proof is provided that social interactions guided by social technologies enhance customers’ perceived usefulness of an s-commerce website, thus increasing their trust and intention to purchase which leads to an actual purchase. This offers insights into the various types of s-commerce characteristics that contribute to facilitating customers’ purchase behaviour on s-commerce websites. Impact on Society: The findings offer insights which have important implications for research and practice to help facilitate the adoption of s-commerce. Future Research: This study considered the s-commerce websites as a homogenous online environment. Additional research could collect data from diverse online communities, such as professional groups, to provide a comprehensive understanding of how a wider variety of user behaviour is affected. Second, this was a quantitative study based on data collected in a questionnaire. Further studies may consider using qualitative or mixed methodologies (i.e. focus groups and interviews) to explore other technical and social factors that influence the use of s-commerce.

With the rapid development of information communication technologies and enhanced Internet penetration, the nature of a consumer’s daily activities has changed and most offline activities have migrated towards online activities. Moreover, customers have shown a greater tendency to shift to online activities from their traditional offline activities. In this light, e-commerce transactions in Sri Lanka are expected to grow in the near future. Apart from traditional Internet technologies, a variety of new social commerce activities has started influencing the behavior of customer activities including the online purchasing. Even though the impact of traditional Internet technologies on purchase intention of customers has been examined by many researchers, the same has not been examined adequately in relation to social commerce related activities. Therefore, this study is aimed at identifying the factors affecting online purchase intention of customers from both the technological and social commerce perspective. The theoretical model developed in the study was empirically tested through survey of 292 MBA students from two leading universities and a prominent institute in Sri Lanka. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. The study revealed that online purchase intention positively and significantly related with perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, website content and trust. Moreover, it was identified that trust has a full mediation effect between perceived ease of use and purchase intention as well as between website content and purchase intention. Further, it was found that trust has a partial mediation between perceived usefulness and purchase intention.

Through the analysis of consumers’ attitude (ATT) and purchase intention (PI) toward parent-child smart clothing, this research reversely derives and extracts the design elements of this type of clothing. This research expands the category of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with clothing design attribute. Based on perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PE) and perceived performance risk (PR), functionality (FUN), aesthetic (AES) and compatibility (COM) of clothing are added to analyze the factors affecting consumers’ ATT and PI toward parent-child smart clothing. A total of 372 volunteers participated in the test, and the results show that COM has a significant positive influence on PU, PE and PR. PU and FUN have a positive influence on purchase ATT and PI. PE positively affects PU and positively affects purchase ATT. PE positively affects PU and positively affects purchase ATT.AES positively influences purchase ATT but has little impact on PI. PR negatively influences both purchase ATT and PI but have little impact on PI. This research confirms the significance of multi-dimensional features of smart parent-child clothing, extracts and preliminarily establishes the framework model of design evaluation elements. And the results are helpful to the product design and development of parent-child smart clothing in the future.

Purpose This paper aims to offer and examine a conceptual model of tourist innovativeness toward self-service technologies (SSTs) to confirm whether tourists prefer service delivery by SSTs over employees in an offline hospitality environment. Design/methodology/approach Tourists’ perceived usefulness (PU) of SSTs and need for interaction (NI) with service employees have been taken as crucial mediating variables to examine the effects of perceived ease of use and technology readiness index personality dimensions toward SST and employee-based service adoption. Findings Findings reveal that both “NI” and “PU” play significant roles in Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM) when tourists select one of two service delivery options – SSTs and service employees. Research limitations/implications The foremost limitation of the study is its dependence on domestic tourist samples. However, such samples were chosen because tourists comprising these samples tend to use similar service delivery options more, in turn increasing their use of SSTs available in sample hotels. Practical implications The study gives a deeper understanding of TRAM with an extremely crucial mediating variable (NI) in an offline service context. It also provides useful insights to service providers and policy makers for developing new strategies and policies to enhance user experience. Social implications This study recommends the usage of numerous SSTs by tourists. Originality/value During extensive literature review carried out in this research, no study was found that proposed such an effective framework in an offline service context.

<p>Mobile payment has relative advantages compared to other payment methods, thus providing benefits for both consumers and the society. This study attempts to examine factors influencing consumer intention to use mobile payment services. Survey data are used to investigate the impact of consumers’ perceptions of mobile payment services and social influence on use intention. Empirical evidence from 489 Vietnamese consumers confirms a significant relationship between the factors and behavioral intention, and reveals that perceived trust is the strongest predictor of intention to use mobile payment services followed by perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, perceived behavioral control, perceived usefulness and subjective norm, respectively. The results contribute to the evolving literature, and suggest that mobile payment service providers should particularly focus on building up consumer trust, and making their services clear, understandable and easy to use. Future research directions for extending this study are also discussed.</p>

<p>The mobile industry in recent years has been growing at a speedy pace where the use of cell phone is no longer limited to conventional usage like the voice communication, but has enriched the customer experiences with mobile internet services and other value added services. Along with the growing mobile industry, technology behind it is also changing accordingly. However, the user acceptance of technology depends on various factors that lead to either user acceptance or rejection. This study thus aims to identify the major determining factors that influence the user to use the 3G mobile internet and examines the interrelation among the determinants along with effect of the demographic variable limited to Kathmandu Valley users. The conceptual framework of this study is based on the extended version of Davis (1989)’s technology acceptance model using variables social influence, price perception, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude to use and behavior intention. The primary survey is conducted using a set of questionnaire, which produced 180 valid responses from the mobile users in Kathmandu Valley. The reliability of the data from questionnaire is verified with factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha. The result shows that social influence has significant influence on perceived ease of use while it has no significant influence on perceived usefulness. Price perception, on the other hand, influences the perceived usefulness. Similarly, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use influence the attitude of use, which finally influences the behavioral intention. Along with this, social influence is also found to be the extended factors that can influence the attitude of the users, which in turn affects the behavioral intention. Demographic variables, however in this study, have shown no significant influence on the behavioral intentions. On the whole, the usage of 3G mobile internet service is not seen to be satisfying from the study. The major reasons as surveyed from the users themselves for this lower utilization seems to be higher data costs, presence of cheaper alternatives for internet like Wi-Fi internet, quick drainage of battery and slow mobile internet service provided by the mobile service providers. Thus, for mobile service providers, internet service providers are their direct competitors for 3G mobile internet services. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most universities around the world started to employ distance-learning tools. To cope with these emergency conditions, some universities in Jordan have developed “mobile learning platforms” as a new tool for distance teaching and learning for students. This experience in Jordan is still new and needs to be evaluated in order to identify its advantages and challenges. Therefore, this study aims to investigate students’ perceptions about mobile learning platforms as well as to identify the crucial factors that influence students’ use of mobile learning platforms. An online quantitative survey technique using Twitter was employed to collect the data. A two-staged ANN-SEM modelling technique was adopted to analyze the causal relationships among constructs in the research model. The results of the study indicate that content quality and service quality significantly influenced perceived usefulness of mobile learning platforms. In addition, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness significantly influenced behavioral intention to use mobile learning platforms. The study findings provide useful suggestions for decision makers, service providers, developers, and designers in the ministry of education as to how to assess and enhance mobile learning platform quality and understanding of multidimensional factors for effectively using mobile learning platforms.

The two core variables of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, are integrated into the Electronic Services Acceptance Model (E-SAM).

The goal of this study is to integrate individual behavior related to both reasoned action and unconscious behavior with social influence to form a theoretical model to explore continuance usage of a mobile terminal (CUMT). This study advances a model of CUMT which considers individual factors and social factors based on TRA. Perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEU) and habit are introduced as independent variables and social network relationships (SNR) are introduced as a moderator into the research model. 221 respondents collected in China are used to examine the hypotheses with PLS-SEM method. The results indicate that PU, PEU and habit are the determinants of CUMT, and both PU and PEU are the antecedents of habit. Moreover, the findings demonstrate that SNR has a negative moderating effect on the PEU-CUMT relationship. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the behavior of CUMT. Theoretical contributions and practical implications are also discussed.

<p>E-learning is a model of delivering learning content electronically with the help of computers and multimedia. ABC University has implemented the e-learning system for two (2) years in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning process. This study aims to determine the level of user acceptance, especially from the perspective of students. In other words, this study also wants to evaluate the implementation of e-learning systems in higher education as well as identifying any factors that encourage students to use e-learning system especially in ABC University. The research method used was survey with the approach of TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) as the technology acceptance evaluation model consisting of two main factors: perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The results showed perceived usefulness significantly positive influence on user acceptance, while perceived ease of use did not significantly influence on user acceptance. The perceived ease of use also significantly positive influence perceived usefulness. The variance of user acceptance could be explained by two factors about 50.5%. </p>

This study examines the effect of system quality (SQ) determinants on social commerce (s-commerce) context from the s-commerce consumers’ perspective by adapting IS success model. 220 data samples from online survey were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the structural equitation model (SEM) to test the research model. The findings show that visibility has a significant effect on perceived usefulness, and ease of use and responsiveness has a significant effect on customer satisfaction. In addition, the finding indicates the significant relationship among perceived usefulness, customer satisfaction and net benefits in s-commerce.
