The Metal Crafters in Pasuruan City who are members of the Indonesian Prosperous (PASINDO) oversees about 300 UMKM of metal. Partners taken by machining and casting groups and packing groups. Metal Craftsman Company manages the management manually, if there is ordering according to job order recorded in big book and finance is not set. Factors in focusing assistance to metal craftsmen under the auspices of Pasindo is knowledge of management information technology and marketing to increase sales. Output targets implemented include conducting financial management and marketing training, operationalizing application systems, entry training and data updating in databases, as well as providing order management training through e-commerce application systems. Method offered approach Metal business unit as seller and buyer based on information technology include: Observation on business partners, designing and making e- commerce application system, and training to Partners. Retail data for 14 months before using a Web-based sales application on a sample of 30 products generated a net profit of Rp. 5,120,000. Many businesses obtain feedback by surveying customers and business partners. Increasingly, these surveys are conducted via the Web. This chapter reviews briefly literature regarding Web-based surveys and describes a software architecture for a Web-based survey system. The architecture for the survey system is based on three-tiers comprised of a Web server, Web application server, and database server. The Web application server hosts the application modules that display and process the surveys. The application software consists of packages for establishing connections to the database and for reading static and dynamic data from the database. The processed surveys are written to the database with the survey responses. This system allows for anonymous survey responses and maintains user confidentiality. At the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, we have implemented this Web-based survey system, and used it to conduct three different surveys. This survey system is easily extensible to new surveys, and is used for instructional purposes to teach server-side programming. In this chapter, we discuss the key ideas behind the design and implementation of the extensible survey system, and provide results on its application.

It is an accepted fact that no system is perfect from the viewpoint of performance. Problems pertaining to performance affect all types of systems, regardless as to whether they are client/server or Web application systems. It is imperative to understand the factors affecting performance of the system before embarking on the task of tackling them. The constraints affecting the performance may be many but can be broadly classified into (i) technical and (ii) project related factors. The former is very much pronounced in the case of Web-based systems, as the relevant technology has not attained the stage of maturity to address the issues on its own. On the other hand, the project managers struggle to develop an optimal system within the existing technology framework. This in turn, generates many project related factors sub optimizing the performance. Likewise, many factors affecting the performance of the system are discussed in this chapter. The subsequent chapters deal at length with the methods and strategies to tackle these factors.

Utilization of information technology is a very important requirement for every component of society. Easy, fast and accurate data and information access can optimize routine daily work. Mawaridussalam Islamic boarding school Batang Kuis as an Islamic education institution that plays a role in shaping the character and personality of the next generation of the nation is expected to be able to optimally manage finances and provide good service to the academics of the Islamic boarding school. Until now, financial management is still done manually using bookkeeping, there is no specific financial application used in Islamic boarding school financial management, so it is difficult and slow in recording, processing, controlling and reporting financial activities. Based on these problems, an application is needed that can be used by the treasurer and board of boarding school leaders for financial management systematically. The method applied is the User Centered Design approach and the target that was successfully achieved is the availability of web-based financial management applications that are used properly to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management in Islamic boarding schools.

Competition in the cake and bread business is quite tight, this is marked by the emergence of the same business, and the increasing variety of breads and cakes offered. The development of culinary business is also seen from the number of shops opened baking cake ingredients. Partners in this service activity are a cake ingredients shop and sell pastries located in the Denpasar city market area. The name of the partner shop is "Annika Shop" which is located at Jalan Trenggana, No. 2 Penatih, East Denpasar. The shop owner named Ibu Ni Gusti Ayu Anggreni is assisted by 2 employees. In this service activity, the partner's problem handled is the lack of maximum product marketing and financial management activities are not carried out so that the loss / profit of the business can be less known and measured. From these main problems, a solution to this community service is provided, namely training in the use of digital marketing to introduce business to the wider community and financial management training. Achievement indicators are able to introduce business partners to the wider community so as to increase partner income up to 50% from before the training. Able to increase the ability and knowledge of partners in financial management up to 100%.Competition in the cake and bread business is quite tight, this is marked by the emergence of the same business, and the increasing variety of breads and cakes offered. A dominant trend in information technology is the convergence of different software functionalities. Even after the dot-com bust or, perhaps because of it, the convergence has gathered steam. Different tools and techniques get concentrated in one solution or software in a short duration. Distinct techniques and technologies, such as accounting software, Web-based businesses, supply chain management, data warehouses and artificial intelligence, are converging as the organizations move from ERP to ERP II, integration of internal functions to integration across supply chain, and the Internet to Internet 2. Today’s ERP software packs all applications into one monster package and offers tremendous functionalities.

The overall aim of this study is to determine the performance of selected web-based dynamic middleware systems that are used for designing and implementing dynamic web application systems. This is necessary in a world where more applications are moving to the web, and slow performance of such applications can discourage users, thereby reducing profit, and reduce programmers’ productivity and quality of applications due to slow testing and execution. Java Servlets, Java Server Pages (JSP), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), and Personal Home Page (PHP) were used to perform some operations on the server, like retrieving all records from a database stored on the server. The time taken since the query is initiated from the browser, to the time the query result is displayed on the client browser were measured for each of the four middleware systems as an estimate for their performance. Records were increased in multiples of thousands to estimate scalability along with the performance. PHP proved to be more efficient and more scalable.

With the development of information technology web-based teaching and learning have become an indispensable part in distance education. However due to the lack of face-to-face communication between teachers and students in web environment distance education in practical operation has inevitably encountered some difficulties one of which is the failure of web-based synchronous interaction. For example, individual learning hasn’t yet been realized in online synchronous discussion. Students have different cognitive styles which play a decisive role on their learning habits and learning behavior. To actualize the individual learning in web-based synchronous discussion, the research has tested cognitive styles of subjects by graphic test, observed performances of the three cognitive styles in web-based synchronous interaction, and analyzed the impact of different cognitive styles on web-based synchronous interaction in terms of cognitive styles and participation, and cognitive styles and interaction quality.

With the mounting demand of web applications, a number of issues allied to its quality have came in existence. In the meadow of web applications, it is very thorny to develop high quality web applications. A design pattern is a general repeatable solution to a generally stirring problem in software design. It should be noted that design pattern is not a finished product that can be directly transformed into source code. Rather design pattern is a depiction or template that describes how to find solution of a problem that can be used in many different situations. Past research has shown that design patterns greatly improved the execution speed of a software application. Design pattern are classified as creational design patterns, structural design pattern, behavioral design pattern, etc. MVC design pattern is very productive for architecting interactive software systems and web applications. This design pattern is partition-independent, because it is expressed in terms of an interactive application running in a single address space. We will design and analyze an algorithm by using MVC approach to improve the performance of web based application. The objective of our study will be to reduce one of the major object oriented features i.e. coupling between model and view segments of web based application. The implementation for the same will be done in by using .NET framework.
