The aimed of this study is to describe the functions and politeness strategies of command directive and requesting speech acts in Japanese business emails. In line with the objectives of the study, the method used was descriptive qualitative. The data source in this study is Japanese business email in the field of education. Then, the data were collected by referring to the note taking technique, the replace technique, and the determining element. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results showed that speakers use more politeness strategies to express the intention of command than request. In addition, it also found differences from the directive speech act for requesting and the directive speech act for commanding i.e. on the choice of the interlocutor to do or not do the speaker's wishes. In directive speech acts for request, the interlocutor to have more choices not to do what the speaker wants. Whereas the directive speech acts for command, the opponents feel burdened and have little choice not to do what the speaker wants

<p><em>This study aims to find out the types of directive speech act and politeness strategies</em><em> </em><em>used in Satu Jam Lebih Dekat talk show on TVOne. The method used in this article is descriptive</em><em> </em><em>method which describe the data systematically, factually, and accurately. The uninvolved</em><em> </em><em>conversation observation technique was used in collecting data in which this means that the present</em><em> </em><em>writer does not involve in the dialogues.</em><em> </em><em>Meanwhile, for data analysis technique, the present writer</em><em> </em><em>used pragmatic competence-in-dividing. The main theory of this article is the pragmatic theory of</em><em> </em><em>Searle’s Speech Act and Brown and Levinson’s Politeness Strategy. The results indicate that the types of directive speech act of Satu Jam Lebih Dekat program are to please, to request,</em><em> </em><em>to ask, to</em><em> </em><em>order, to invite, to forbid, to convince, to obligate, to show, to hope, to want, to warn, to advise, and</em><em> </em><em>to request. In addition, the politeness strategies are bald on</em><em> </em><em>record, positive politeness, negative</em><em> </em><em>politeness, and off record. AbstrakArtikel ini membahas satu jenis strategi penerjemahan yang berfokus pada penerjemahan pada level kata yang bersifat non-equivalent menurut Mona Baker. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan jenis strategi penerjemahan apa saja dalam taksonomi tersebut  yang diaplikasikan pada penerjemahan kata-kata non-equivalent yang ditemukan pada novel-novel Indonesia sebagai bahasa sumber ke dalam bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa sasaran; dan juga untuk mengidentifikasi apakah pesan yang terdapat pada kata-kata bersifat non-equivalent pada bahasa sumber tersampaikan sama pada bahasa sasaran. Metode yang digunakan untuk membahas aplikasi strategi penerjemahan ini adalah metode kualitatif-komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kata-kata yang bersifat non-equivalent diterjemahkan dengan menggunakan 7 dari 8 strategi penerjemahan yang ada dan secara keseluruhan strategi penerjemahan untuk kata non-equivalent mampu menyampaikan pesan yang terdapat pada kata-kata non-equivalent tersebut meskipun tidak semua secara detil.Kata kunci: strategi penerjemahan, kata non-equivalent, strategi penerjemahan Mona Baker AbstractSpeech act is the activity of uttering speech with a specific purpose. Research on speech acts has been done by many researchers before, but the number is still limited that reviewed the speech acts during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study discussed the types of speech acts on Instagram social media during the Covid-19 period. This study used a pragmatic approach with Searle's speech act theory (1979). The method used is descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of data analysis, researcher found that 3 types of speech acts, namely 1) Directive speech acts with the implicature of persuading and encouraging; 2) Representative speech acts with the implicature of commanding and challenging; 3) Expressive speech acts with the implicature of encouraging.Keywords: Covid-19, Pragmatic, Speech act

AbstrakTindak tutur adalah aktivitas mengujarkan tuturan dengan maksud tertentu. Penelitian mengenai tindak tutur telah banyak dilakukan oleh peneliti sebelumnya, namun jumlahnya masih terbatas yang mengkaji mengenai tindak tutur di masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai jenis-jenis tindak tutur di media sosial Instagram pada masa Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan pragmatik dengan teori tindak tutur Searle (1979). Metode yang digunakan berupa deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan dari hasil analisis data, peneliti menemukan 3 jenis tindak tutur, yaitu 1) Tindak tutur direktif dengan implikatur membujuk dan menyemangati; 2) Tindak tutur representatif dengan implikatur memerintah dan memberi tantangan; 3) Tindak tutur ekspresif dengan implikatur menyemangati.Kata Kunci: Covid-19, Pragmatik, Tindak tutur  AbstractSpeech act is the activity of uttering speech with a specific purpose. The aim of this research are to explain the politeness of directive speech acts and politeness strategy, which supports the effectiveness of the talk show. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data resources are spoken data from three episodes of Satu Jam Lebih Dekat Talk Show on TV One. The technique of data sampling is determined by purposive sampling. The data validation technic in this research is triangulation technic. The result of the research shows that the types of directive speech acts in Satu Jam Lebih Dekat are to please, to request, to ask, to order, to invite, and to forbid. The politeness strategies of Satu Jam Lebih Dekat are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The politeness of directive speech acts supports the effectiveness of the talk show because of some factors, such as types of directive speech act and politeness strategy.

This study aims to describe the impoliteness of directive speech acts in online Indonesian language learning. The data collection technique in this study used the observation, note, and record technique. The object of this research was the analysis of directive speech act impoliteness. The data analysis technique used in this study was a data triangulation model. The study results indicate an impoliteness of directive speech acts on Indonesian language learning conducted by the teacher. The teacher unintentionally performed impoliteness on the directive speech acts. The first data found that the teacher asked all the students to pay attention impolitely. The second data showed that the teacher as a speaker prohibits students from taking attendance. The third data showed that the teacher used the impolite directive speech acts when saying the utter "unnecessary" and "you pay less attention" to the students who forgot to attend the class. The data (3a) above includes the impoliteness of the directive speech act of the requesting because it does not contain politeness elements that can smooth speech. Data (4a) The teacher asks students who are not members to leave the WhatsApp group, but the teacher does not use soft sentences. Data (5a) stated that the teacher instructs the students to cut the paper using a cutter and make lines on it . Next, the data (5b) stated the teacher asks students to look at the learning material using impoliteness directive speech acts. Data (5c) stated that the teacher instructs students not to forget to fill the attendance. Data (6a) stated the teacher asks students to join the google classroom but does not use polite sentences. The data includes the directive speech act of the requesting marked with the word beg. Data (7a) Teachers require students to have sufficient quotas when participating in learning Indonesian online. AbstrakPenelitian terhadap novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kesantunan tindak tutur menyuruh pada tokoh protagonis dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Data penelitian ini adalah tindak tutur direktif menyuruh pada tokoh protagonis dalam novel tersebut. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara membaca dan memahami novel, mencatat kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat tokoh yang dapat dirumuskan sebagai bagian dari tuturan maupun tindak tutur menyuruh, dan menginventarisasikan data berdasarkan masalah-masalah tindak tutur direktif yang terdapat dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Data dianalisis dan dibahas berdasarkan teori pragmatik. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan sembilan tuturan tindak tutur direktif menyuruh, yang menunjukkan bahwa tokoh protagonis dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye cenderung melakukan tindak tutur menyuruh secara santun. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data source in this research is the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye. The data of this research are directive speech acts ordered to the protagonist in the novel. Data were collected by understanding the novel, noting down words, phrases, clauses, or sentences that can be formulated as part of speech acts, and making an inventory of the data based on the problems of directive speech acts contained in Tere Liye's novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga. Data were analyzed and based on pragmatic theory. The results of this study shows nine directive ordered speech act utterances, which indicate that the protagonist in the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye tends to perform speech acts politely. The objectives of this study are to describe the types of speech acts used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, to elaborate the realization of Jokowi used illocutionary act in campaign speeches, to know the reason of using illocutionary act. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are the utterances of Jokowi’s speeches. The source of the data was Jokowi’s campaign speeches. The technique for collecting data is documentary technique. The technique of data analysis was interactive model by using Miles and Huberman. The findings show all types of speech acts were used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, namely:  locutionary act, illocutionary act can be classified into five parts; there were assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, declarative and the last types was perlocutionary act. The realization of illocutionary act used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, the directive speech act was used in form of warning, commanding, promising, offering, questioning, requesting. The reasons of using illocutionary act in Jokowi’s campaign speeches are to point out or to identify what the speaker mean from his utterance, which influence of meaning and information of the speech and to get information clearly from Jokowi’s campaign speeches.   Keywords: speech acts, campaign, campaign speeches

This research aims to identify, describe, and analyze the politeness of speech acts of the moderator directive the Presidential Election Final Debate in 2019. Method used is descriptive with qualitative approach. Data source is a moderator speech act in debate. Research data are the politeness of the moderator's directive of debate in the form and strategies used in the form of words, phrases and sentences. Data collecting technique used is exposure techniques and documentary data collection tool is video recordings. The explanation technique was used to elaborate the moderator directive form and strategy of speech act politeness in the Final Debate. Data analysis method used the referral method with proficient SBLC and context analysis. Based on the results, there are 160 data in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences which are included in directive speech acts. There are seven forms of moderator speech directives in debate, namely directive speech acts inviting, persuading, requesting, prohibiting, asking, reminding, and ordering. The politeness of directive speech acts can be direct politeness, irreverent politeness, positive politeness, and negative politeness. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi, mendeskripsikan, dan menganalisis kesantunan tindak tutur direktif moderator dalam Debat Final Pilpres 2019. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data berasal dari tindak tutur moderator dalam debat. Data yang dihimpun berupa kesantunan direktif moderator debat dalam strategi yang digunakan untuk memilih kata, frasa, dan kalimat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik pemaparan dan alat pengumpulan data dokumenter berupa rekaman video. Teknik pemaparan digunakan untuk menguraikan bentuk dan strategi kesantunan tindak tutur direktif moderator dalam Debat Akhir. Analisis data menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik simak bebas libat cakap (SBLC) dan analisis konteks. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, didapatkan 160 data berupa kata, frasa, klausa atau kalimat yang termasuk dalam tindak tutur direktif. Ada tujuh bentuk tindak tutur direktif moderator dalam debat, yaitu tindak tutur mempersilakan, mengajak, meminta, melarang, bertanya, mengingatkan, dan tindak tutur memerintah. Kesantunan tindak tutur direktif dapat berupa kesantunan langsung, kesantunan tidak langsung, kesantunan positif, dan kesantunan negatif. Language is an essential tool that we use in our daily life. In general, language is used as a tool to convey information. In using language, speakers must pay attention to the language used. Language users should do this to avoid or minimize errors in conveying information to listeners. This study aims to determine what types of speech acts and politeness strategies are used by pre-service teachers when teaching online classes. This research is expected to provide an overview of how speech acts and politeness strategies can affect educational activities. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. This research was conducted using two steps. The researcher's first step is to observe how preservice teachers use speech act and politeness strategies in online classes. Then the researcher will conduct interviews with research subjects or pre-service teachers to verify the data that has been observed. In conducting this research, the researcher used two theories as to the research foundation. The first theory is Searle's theory of speech act types and Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness strategies. The study found that if pre-service teachers use five types of speech acts, they are representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and directive. This study also found that pre-service teachers used more directive speech acts in teaching online classes than other types of speech acts. In addition to the use of speech acts, this study also found that pre-service teachers also use four politeness strategies in teaching online classes. The four types of politeness strategies are bald-onrecord, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off-record.

Directive speech act is very important in learning interactions because it makes it easier for students to understand learning material. Seeing the COVID-19 pandemic situation, learning was carried out online, so teachers had to use other alternatives in delivering material. One of them is using digital media in the form of interactive video lessons. Interactive videos make it easier for students and teachers to carry out learning. This study aims to describe directive speech acts in interactive learning videos in high school. The data of this research is in the form of directive speech acts in interactive learning videos of Indonesian in Senior High School. The data source is an interactive video document of Indonesian language learning in Senior High School which was obtained from the Teacher Room and Senior High School Directory of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The technique of collecting data used listening and taking notes. The data validity used source and theory triangulation. The data analysis technique used interactive data analysis (Miles and Huberman). The results of the study concluded that there were fifty-three directive speech act data consisting of: requests for twenty-four data, orders as many as seventeen data, ordering as many as two data, and giving advice as many as ten data.
