Background: Human care professionals’ deals with humans and their relations, which are multifaceted and so, encompass complications. Their occupation involves dealing with high emotional demand, which puts them in a stress and work conflicts. Objectives: To know the occupational stress levels, ways of coping among professional social workers (PSWs) working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and to know the various interventions at the organisational level. Method and Material: With these objectives 92, professional social workers (PSWs) were selected randomly from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. To know stress levels, ways of coping and organisational interventions occupational stress index (OSI), coping checklist (CCL) and focused group discussions (FGD) were conducted respectively. Result and Conclusion: It was evident that PSWs’ from NGOs were using more of problem-focused coping along with the high use of seeking social support and distraction positive as their way as to combat their moderate stress levels. However, organisational interventions at four levels i.e. effective job redesign, promotion of constructive work environment, organisational services to balance workplace pressure, and infrastructure and resources were major suggestions which need to be carried out with due participation of professional social workers.

The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of occupational stress and job burnout among teachers working in primary and secondary schools and identify the relationship between the selected demographic data with the stress levels. The sample consisted of 100 teachers from 4 schools in Cuttack, Orissa. The instruments used to measure the variables were: 1.Headington Stress Index questionnaire, 2.Headingtacon Burnout Inventory, 3. Self care and Lifestyle Balance Inventory. The statistical techniques of descriptive statistics, ANOVA analysis and Pearson’s coefficient were employed to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicated that a major portion of the teachers’ population faced moderately low stress and burnout, and the remaining faced moderately high stress and burnout. Younger teachers are reported to have more stress than the older teachers. Higher the burnout among teachers, lower was the lifestyle balance among them. Experience, gender and grade did not affect the stress levels among teachers.

Nurses are identified as one of the professional groups with high level of job related stress and related issues. The magnitude of the problem this segment faces is very intensive as a large number of them are women. They are victimized for multiple roles in the home and hospital. Stressors for nurses are always been identified with workload, dual role and pressures which are associated with demands of the existing working environment. The nature of illness/diseases a nurse dealing with has significant effects on the stress and mental health level. Healthcare professionals dealing with psychiatric illness and other chronic/traumatic conditions faces more stress while comparing to the other domains of healthcare. The present study is a cross sectional hospital based study carried out at four centres and 100 samples were collected by judgmental sampling method which consisted of 50 female nursing staff from general hospital and same number from psychiatric hospitals. A socio-demographic data sheet along with General Health Questionnaire was administered and those who have satisfactory health have been considered as further samples. Mental health, stress level, and attitude towards mental illness were analyzed. The results shows that psychiatric nursing staff scored higher in overall occupational stress index and in the subs-domains of role overload, role ambiguity, role conflict, role unreasonable group and political pressure compared to general nursing staff. Also the mental health inventory total score is negatively correlated with role overload sub-domain of occupational stress index scale. Present study implicates the need of comprehensive psycho-social management plans for the professionals working in psychiatric hospitals.

The present study aimed to identify the occupational stress level of occupational education female and male teachers. It also aimed to identify whether there is any difference between the respondents’ occupational stress levels which can be attributed to their (gender, experience or school stage). The study’s population consists from all the all the occupational education female and male teachers who work at the public schools affiliated with the first and second directorates of education in Irbid (i.e. 320 teachers). As for the sample, it consists from 100 female and male teachers. Those teachers were selected through using the random stratified sampling method. Those teachers were selected from the public schools affiliated with the first and second directorates of education in Irbid. The researchers chose a descriptive survey research design. They developed an instrument (i.e. a questionnaire) for measuring the occupational stress level of teachers. It was found that the occupational stress level of the occupational education female and male teachers is high. It was found that there is a statistically significant difference between the respondents’ occupational stress levels which can be attributed to gender. The latter difference is for the favor of males.  It was found that there is a statistically significant difference between the respondents’ occupational stress levels which can be attributed to experience. The latter difference is for the favor of the ones who possess moderate experience. It was found that there is a statistically significant difference between the respondents’ occupational stress levels which can be attributed to the school stage. The latter difference is for the favor of the lower primary teachers. In the light of the aforementioned results, the researchers recommend exerting effort to reduce the occupational stress level of occupational education female and male teachers. Such efforts include creating convenient psychological and occupational environments. The researchers also recommend providing the lower primary teachers with attention by the Ministry of Education in Jordan. That can be done through providing those teachers with training & development programs. That can be also done through raising their socio-economic levels and providing them with financial & moral incentives & rewards.

The aim of the article is the theoretical development of non-formal, fundraising and bilingual models of future social sphere specialists training on the basis of the goals of sustainable development in education. The study is based on preliminary processing of European and Ukrainian documents on sustainable development, numerous scientific papers on the problem of sustainable development, theoretical developments and experimental research in the field of social sphere specialists training. Each of the developed models has passed the corresponding approbation and is supported by the author’s experience of practical professional training of future social sphere specialists at the Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University. The model of future social workers non-formal education ensures the integration of professional competencies of future social workers. Fundraising training of future social workers on the basis of sustainable development involves the use of the necessary fundraising tools to ensure the development of social capital, the formation of a society of social justice, the deployment of numerous non-governmental organizations at the global and local levels. The bilingual model provides empowerment of social workers to study, do internships, work, borrow positive experiences, participate in international projects, and collaborate with professionals in their field from around the world.

The study aims to highlight the occupation level on occupational stress, psychological well-being, and quality of life of Indian Army Personnel. The study was conducted on one hundred fifty Indian male Army Personnel of different rank belonging to 25 years to 45 years of age group. The cross-sectional design was used. The sample was selected through the purposive sampling technique. The tools measures like the Occupational Stress Index, Psychological Well-Being Scale and WHO Quality of Life-BREF Hindi was individually administered. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. One way Analysis of Variance results revealed that there is a significant difference in occupational levels on occupational stress, psychological well-being, and quality of life among Indian Army personnel. Pearson product-moment correlations coefficient showed a significant negative relationship between occupational stress with psychological well-being and quality of life and showed a significant positive relationship between psychological well-being and quality of life among Indian Army Personnel.

This article discusses the emerging research concerned with the effect job satisfaction on occupational stress experienced among bank employees. The Occupational Stress Index developed by A.K. Srivastava and A. P. Singh (1984) and Job Satisfaction scale (JSS) developed by Dr. Amar Singh and Dr. T R Sharma (2007) by the researchers to importune information from bank employees was administered to 100 respondents comprising of both public and private banks in the branches of SBI, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Co-Operative Bank, ICICI, HDFC and Axis Bank within Ahmedabad city. Objectives of the studies are 1) To study the level of Job Satisfaction of Employees working in Private and Public bank in relation to types of Bank and Gender. 2) To study the Occupational Stress of Employees working in Private and Public bank in relation to types of Bank and Gender. 3) To know the correlation between Job Satisfaction and Occupational Stress of Private and public Bank employees. Statistical ‘t’-test and correlation were used for data analysis. The findings of the study reflect that Public Bank employees are more satisfied with their jobs and occupationally less stressed than the Private bank employees. Further Female bank employees are less satisfied and under higher level of occupational stress as compared to their Male bank employees counterparts. Whereas, there is a negative & significant co-relation between Job Satisfaction & Occupational stress of Bank employees. It is suggested from findings of the study, that in order to reduce occupational stress among Private bank employees, the job satisfaction must be enhanced.

Introduction. The aim of this research was to quantify the presence of occupational stressors and to analyze their effects on temporary and permanent working ability of workers with arterial hypertension. Material and Methods. The research included 817 workers. The study group consisted of 504 workers with arterial hypertension without other diseases or disorders, whereas the control group was composed of 313 healthy workers. Results. The study group showed a significantly higher level of total occupational stress index as well as of the stress index related to high job demands, conflicts at work place, underload and time limit (p<0.001) compared to the control group. A positive and statistically significant correlation between total occupational stress index and systolic and diastolic blood pressure was found in the study group. The total level of occupational stress over 40 led to a significant increase of systolic and diastolic blood pressure in persons with arterial hypertension. The analysis of temporary working inability determined a statistically significantly higher level of lost workdays per a worker in the study group compared to the controls (p<0.001). The average number of lost workdays per a worker in a year in the study group increased statistically significantly along with the occupational stress index values at their work place (p<0.001). In the study group the number of workers eligible for disability retirement over a period of one year was significantly higher compared to the controls. The number of workers eligible for disability retirement in the exposed group increased statistically significantly along with occupational stress index values at their work place. Conclusion. The results show that occupational stress is a significant factor in the development of arterial hypertension and reduction of work ability of exposed workers.
