With globalization the need for experts in various fields were identified. In Sri Lanka students and parents preferred to become engineers, medical doctors, accountants, and lawyers after completion of their studies. However, demand for jobs other than above categories kept increasing and a mismatch between the supply of qualified people in relevant fields as against the demand from industry and government generated. Government universities offered degrees in limited fields and students were compelled to enroll in degrees against their choice. The education system produced more graduates from certain fields that are not in demand from the industry perspective. This situation leads to unemployment and underemployment which is a social problem today. Therefore,  a psychological paradigm shift in students’ degree choice  is proposed in this paper as a long-term solution to this problem. This study administered a qualitative research approach consisting comprehensive desk research and opinion survey. The results reveals the seriousness of the problems in Sri Lanka, its root causes, potential solutions. The society in large has settled down with certain ideologies about the field of higher education that are not commensurate with the present global trends. This paper discusses about the fundamental prerequisites to create a psychological paradigm shift in students’ degree choice.

The paper aims to explore the ideological interpretation of Islamic accounting. It is hoped that the results of various interpretations of Islamic accounting are obtained comprehensively. The research method used is qualitative research. Qualitative research is called Participant-Observation because the researcher himself must be the main instrument in collecting data by directly observing the object being examined While the research approach uses a literature study. The results of this study found that there are several views on the interpretation of Islamic accounting ideology. The fragile philosophical foundation of context knowledge is enough to create counter paradigm rivals as a consequence of the scientific revolution (science revolutions) in the form of an alternative paradigm shift due to the failure of the old paradigm to answer a set of problems. The content of the Islamic substance is liberation, making accounting perceived as a treatise.

The hotel sector is directly combined with customer loyalty as it has become increasingly obvious by incorporating its’ antecedents with customer satisfaction and trust. Customer loyalty is influenced by customer satisfaction of hospitality service when it is significantly related to service quality. Sustainability is an important concept that can adapt to achieving customer loyalty in the Sri Lankan hotel sector. Indeed, most conventional hoteliers in Sri Lanka do not have the idea of success in achieving customer loyalty through the sustainability concept. Also, despite the abundance of research on the concept of sustainability, a gap in literature could be identified, when it comes to analysing the customer loyalty aspects toward sustainable hotels in Sri Lanka. This study is therefore aimed to bridge the gap that exists in the literature to prove the success of adopting the concept of sustainability in achieving customer loyalty. A qualitative research approach with two case studies was used to achieve the aim of the study. The study unveils an analysis of the interconnection between sustainable hotels and customer loyalty. Various library threats or library assets from damage can be threats from natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, tsunamis, fires, and so on. Other damage threats can be caused by biological and chemical and human factors, such as theft, vandalism, and the like. This study uses a qualitative research approach, namely research that describes the phenomenon, digging data by interviews, observation, and documentation. Problems in qualitative research are still temporary, tentative, and will develop or change after the researcher is in the field. Qualitative research requires data sources from informants. The use of triangulation techniques is done to test the credibility of the data by checking the data to the same source with different techniques. This paper analyses homecoming experiences of African labour migrants who lived in Israel and returned home. Using qualitative research methodologies, I discerned what factors - material and non-material - determine the relative success of the return process. Focusing on these factors’ effects, I offer a new understanding of labour migrants’ homecoming experiences: those who are “content,” “readjusting,” or “lost. Following Ulrich Beck's (2006) analysis of cosmopolitanism, I suggest that these categories portray significant new life spaces that are neither what they left nor what they came from, and are dynamic, fragile, and constantly changing. In some cases the influence of economic assets on the returned migrants’ homecoming experience was indeed crucial, in many other cases the challenges of reconnecting oneself with home, family, and existing social norms and customs was much more influential on their homecoming experience including on their sense of well-being. Furthermore, some of the non-material goods such as individualization, personal responsibility, and long-term planning proved useful, others such as trust, particularly in relation to family, were detrimental.

Abstract This research focuses on the issue of state-minority contestations involving transforming and reconstituting each other in post-independent Sri Lanka. This study uses a qualitative research method that involves critical categories of analysis. Migdal’s theory of state-in-society was applied because it provides an effective conceptual framework to analyse and explain the data. The results indicate that the unitary state structure and discriminatory policies contributed to the formation of a minority militant social force (the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – The LTTE) which fought with the state to form a separate state. The several factors that backed to the defeat of the LTTE in 2009 by the military of the state. This defeat has appreciably weakened the Tamil minority. This study also reveals that contestations between different social forces within society, within the state, and between the state and society in Sri Lanka still prevail, hampering the promulgation of inclusive policies. This study concludes that inclusive policies are imperative to end state minority contestations in Sri Lanka.
