The study used the descriptivemethod by involving primary school teachers of English. The sample consisted of 15primary school teachers of English, randomly selected from two clusters, namely thecity center and the suburb. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The resultsand discussion include the English teachers’ profiles, perceptions of, and practices in theselection and development of English learning materials for primary schools. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa persepsiguru bahasa Inggris sekolah dasar memiliki kesesuaian dengan praktik yang merekalakukan dalam pemilihan dan pengembangan bahan ajar.Kata kunci: persepsi dan praktik pembelajaran, pemilihan dan pengembangan materipembelajaranand setting

It is through education where a foundation for growth, groundwork on which most of our social and economic well-being is developed. This study sought to establish the influence of teaching and learning materials available on the development of pupils in upper primary schools in Karunga Zone, Gilgil Sub County. Teaching and learning materials are devices and aids through which learning and teaching are done in schools. The study was anchored on the Theory of Instruction and adopted the descriptive research design. The target population was 587 teachers of primary schools in Karunga zone, Gilgil Sub County from which a sample of 100 teachers were selected using the stratified random sampling method. Data was collected using questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed that teaching and learning materials availability (r= .652, p .000; β= .751, p .000) has a positive and statistically significant influence on the development of pupils in upper primary. Based on this finding, the study recommends that the government of Kenya through the Ministry of Education Science and Technology should improve the availability of teaching and learning resources in public primary schools in order to promote optimal development of pupils.

Computer-based learning media is the use of a computer to help present learning materials to students, monitor the progress of learning or choose additional learning materials in accordance with student learning needs individually or is a form of application and use of computers that are applied in student learning directly to convey the content of the lesson, providing student learning exercises. The purpose of this study is the development of interactive multimedia computer-based on the subject of civic education in elementary education. This research method using an approach of research and development with stages: requirement analysis, design, and validation expert. The results of this study found that interactive multimedia applications based on computer valid and suitable for use in teaching and learning activities in primary schools.

This study responded to one key research question: What are the accountability relationships between the actors in implementing the 3Rs curriculum reform? A qualitative research approach informed the study, using key informant interviews, focus group discussion and document review. The data were analysed using thematic and content analysis. The study established that the key actors in implementing the 3Rs curriculum are the government institutions and the development partners. These actors provide teaching, learning materials and support in the provision of in-service teacher training. Yet, the pupils’ and teachers’ materials prepared by the donor programmes were never authorised by the Commissioner for Education. The study also found that the implementation of the 3Rs was very uneven across the country, with some regions receiving support from both the government and donors, and others receiving support from the government only. Consequently, schools in areas that were exposed to more than one type of support benefited from various teaching and learning materials, which led to confusion regarding when to use them. Moreover, the initiatives by several donors exclusively focus on public schools, which use Kiswahili as the medium of instruction and hence, there existed inequality across the various types of schools. Furthermore, the funds for implementing the reform were provided by both the development partners and the government. The Global Partnership for Education (GPE)—Literacy and Numeracy Education Support (LANES) Program— provided a large proportion of the funds. However, the funds remained insufficient to meet the training needs. As a result, the training was provided for only few days and to a few teachers. Consequently, the sustainability of the reform, in the absence of donor funding, remains largely questionable.

This study aims to describe the application of innovative STEAM learning in primary schools in the city of Serang. This research was conducted using a narrative method with interview techniques. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade teachers at SDN 1 Pamarican, Serang City, Banten. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. The results showed that the application of innovative STEAM learning was as follows: 1) STEAM learning planning which was developed in guiding educators to carry out their duties as educators in serving the learning activities of their students; 2) Learning planning is seen as a tool that can help educators be more efficient in carrying out their duties and functions more effectively, on time, and provide opportunities for easier control and monitoring of their implementation; 3) each topic discussed must be appropriate in relation to components including science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics; and 4) the assessment must be in accordance with the performance objectives that have been set. Thus students through STEAM's innovative learning have direct experience so that they build a more meaningful understanding of learning materials. Educators become facilitators who facilitate learning by organizing teaching materials, delivering strategies, and managing activities by taking into account the objectives, obstacles, and characteristics of students so that effective and efficient results are obtained.

Creative activities play a critical role in improving intellectual, emotional, and social skills among children. This study aimed to explore the availability of teaching and learning materials on creative play activities among public pre-primary school children in Bureti Sub-County, Kenya. The research adopted a descriptive survey design and was guided by Sarah Smilansky’s theory which emphasises the child-centred approach in teaching creativity. Sarah Smilansky’s theory lays emphasis on allowing young children to control their way of learning by stressing self-expression. The population targeted was 135 public pre-primary schools in Bureti Sub-County. Ten per cent (10%) of the target population representing 14 public pre-primary schools was utilised during the pilot study. The sample size for the study was 236 participants. This comprised 92 head teachers and 144 preschool teachers from 121 pre-primary schools in Bureti Sub-County. Questionnaires and observation schedules were utilised to gather data. The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 23 was utilised to organise data for analysis. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The data was presented in the form of percentage tables. The results revealed that (73.9%) of the respondents indicated that there was insufficient learning and teaching materials listing out that the most available materials are manila papers, clay, paints, tires, pencils, and maise corps. The study recommended that learning and teaching resources should be made available by the County Government for learners to use while embracing creative play activities. There is also a need for adequate time to be allocated to play to enhance creative play activities in school.

The status of implementation of inclusive education in terms of availability and use of teaching and learning resources for retention of learners with special needs in Garissa County was unknown. Inclusive education refers to a situation where learners with disabilities and special educational needs have full membership in age-appropriate classes in their regular neighborhood schools with appropriate supplementary aids and support services. Records from Educational Assessment and Resource Centres (EARC) Garissa County revealed that there was a decline in the retention rate of learners` admitted. For example, in the year 2014, the retention rate was 37 learners (45.7%), 2015 (114 learners, 38.0%), 2016 (43 learners, 28.9%), 2017 (35 learners, 31.5%) and 2018 (41 learners, 23.7%). The purpose of the study was to assess the status of implementation of inclusive education practices for the retention of learners with special needs in regular primary schools in Dadaab sub-county. The specific objective of the study was to establish the extent to which the availability and use of teaching and learning resources affect the retention of learners with special needs in regular primary schools in Dadaab sub-county. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The target population comprised 26 head-teachers, 78 teachers, 300 learners with special needs, and 4 education officers. Saturated sampling technique was used to select 23 head-teachers, 70 teachers, 100 learners with special needs, and 4 education officers. Instruments for data collection were questionnaires, interview schedules and observation schedules. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and mean. The findings of the study indicated that the availability and use of teaching and learning materials were inadequate (mean= 2.18). The study concluded that the low retention of learners with special needs as a result of the availability and use of teaching and learning materials to a small extent.  The study recommended that the country and national government should ensure that there is adequate provision of teaching and learning resources to enhance learning for learners with special needs. The budget for materials should be enhanced. The study also recommends to non-governmental organizations to assist regular primary schools to access teaching and learning materials that can be used by learners with special needs.

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between the relationship between instructional videos and students' understanding of the learning material. Researchers create digital learning materials through video material (VBL), especially math in RPTRA. The researchers used correlation analysis to examine the relationship between the learning material in video form and the level of understanding of the students in the material. The method used by the researcher was to experiment with elementary-level children from various primary schools. Then, based on the experimental results, the correlation analysis test was performed to see the relationship between the student's understanding and the learning material through video. From the results of the assessment, it can be seen that the video material can help the understanding of the students and can also increase the motivation of the students in learning mathematics. Therefore, video learning can help students understand mathematics and help teachers teach mathematics in a more interesting way.
