Sugarcane is one of the commodities in the plantation sector which is a mainstay in an effort to increase the welfare of farmers. Blora Regency is one of the regencies which is the center of sugarcane production in Central Java Province with the lowest production. The research objectives are (1) to analyze the factors that influence sugarcane production in Blora Regency; (2) analyzing the technical efficiency of sugarcane farming; (3) analyzing the income level of sugarcane farmers. Sampling was used by random and snowball sampling method to collect 80 sugarcane farmers. The collected data is then analyzed using Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier production function, farm income analysis and different test analysis (t-analysis).The results showed that the variables of urea fertilizer, za, phonska and organic fertilizer had a significant effect on sugarcane farming production in Blora Regency. Technical efficiency level of sugarcane farming, partners and non-partners are efficient with an average of technical efficiency is 0,89. The lengthy farming variable becomes the only inefficiency estimator variable that has a significant effect on sugarcane farming. Based on the income analysis, sugarcane farmers who done farming activities through a partner pattern have a greater income of Rp. 8.408.180 with a R / C ratio 1,236. While non-partner pattern income is Rp. 2.438.317 with a R / C ratio of 1,071 and Rp. 460.510 with a R / C ratio of 1,013. Based on the results of this research, it is important to choose partner pattern on sugarcane farming in Blora Regency.

The study examines the technical efficiency and profitability of sweet potato production in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. A total of one hundred sweet potato farmers were selected through a multi-stage sampling technique. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, budgetary analysis and stochastic approach. The average age of the farmers was 35 years, majority (54%) of the sweet potato farmers were males, majority (87%) of the farmers had one form of education, average fish farming experience of the farmers was 9 years, and majority (55%) of the sweet potato farmers were married. The result of production function depicts the coefficient of multiple determinations (R2) to be 41%. It further shows that the relationship between output and farming experience which had a coefficient of 0.11 was positive indicating that as years of farming experience increased, the amount of output increased. Moreover, the mean technical efficiency was 0.73 with minimum and maximum efficiencies of 0.19 and 1.76 respectively. Total Cost (TC) was ₦20,755.53while total returns were ₦31,715.20 with Net Farm Income (NFI) of ₦10,959.67. Return on investment was ₦0.53, which implies profitability of sweet potato production in the study area. The study also identified inadequate finance, lack of land, and high cost of labor as the major problems faced by the farmers. Government is therefore recommended to support in terms of revitalization and prioritizing funding of extension delivery system of the state owned Agricultural Development Programmes (ADPs).

This study established the level of technical efficiency and its determinants among the informal and formal seed potato producers in the southwestern highlands agro - ecological zone of Uganda. A multi- stage sampling procedure was employed to select 636 households (499 informal seed producers and 137 formal seed producers) from which data was collected for two seasons using a semi - structured questionnaire. Data was analyzed using the stochastic frontier approach with a one - step approach. Maximum likelihood estimates for the efficiency parameters showed that both informal and formal seed potato producers were not fully efficient. The mean technical efficiency for informal and formal seed potato producers was 8 1 .4 and 80.4 percent respectively. In terms of yield loss, informal and formal seed potato producers respectively lost an average of 981 and 1,208 kg/acre of seed potato tubers due to inefficiency factors . Specifically, off- farm income source, scale of production, seasonal variation, access to extension services and seed producer being male positively influenced informal seed producers’ technical efficiency while producers’ level of education and seed potato variety diversity negatively influenced their efficiency. For formal seed producers, technical efficiency was influenced positively by producers’ education and negatively by household size. The study suggests that there is an opportunity to improve technical efficiency of informal and formal seed producers by 19 and 20 percent respectively. Therefore, this calls for increased investment in developing and promoting high yielding varieties, provision of extension services, input intensification and addressing gender issues in seed potato production in the context of limited arable land .

The people of West Sumatra, who have been adhering to the Minangkabau matrilineal cultural tradition, are currently experiencing cultural decay. Many studies speculate that the unique Minangkabau culture will not be too much disturbed by the influx of globalization because in essence the only part that will be eroded is the peripheral part, while the core will remain preserved for all time. This study photographed the people of Tanjung Raya District based on existing family typologies, then saw a shift in norms passed on to teenagers using the six Hofstede cultural dimensions. This study surveyed five types of families with calculations using a simple addition operation. The results of the questionnaire were made high and low criteria, then presented in cobweb graphical form. The assessment indicators are based on the six dimensions of Hofstede's culture. Shifting the teachings of exemplary teachings from Minangkabau culture is determined using the ANOVA test. The results of this study are to map the portrait of Minangkabau culture according to Hofstede and a portrait of each of Hofstede's dimensions in each type of family in Tanjung Raya District. From there, it can be seen how far away the approach of the values taught by the family towards Minangkabau culture is approaching.

This study analyzes the factors influencing gambier productivity, analyzes the technical efficiency of gambier farming, and analyzes the factors affecting gambier farming's technical efficiency. This research was conducted in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, a gambier production center in West Sumatra. Data were analyzed using the Cobb Douglas stochastic frontier production function. The results showed that the factors that significantly influenced gambier's productivity were labor, NPK fertilizer, plant age, number of trees, varieties, and technology. The number of labor, fertilizer factor, plant age, number of trees, and seedling varieties had a positive effect on gambier productivity. In contrast, NPK fertilizer and technology had a negative impact on gambier productivity. The technical efficiency level of gambier farming started from 0.25 to 0.99 with an average level of 0.76. It means that farmers are technically efficient but can still increase gambier productivity if they use production inputs appropriately and adequately. Factors that significantly influence technical efficiency are age, farming experience, and technology. Older farmers will have a higher level of technical efficiency compared to young age. The lower the farming experience, the more technically efficient the farmer is. Farmers who use the hydraulic jack system technology are more efficient than farmers who use the jack system technology

The sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (l.) Lam.) Lam) is a plant that produces tuberous root belonging to the family convolvulácea explored in practically all states of Brazil. The objective of this work was to select genotypes of the sweet potato as the efficiency of phosphorus use in cerrado soils with high and low availability of this nutrient. Were evaluated nine genotypes of sweet potato coming from the germplasm bank from the Federal University of the Tocantins, Brazil. The experimental design was in randomized block design with three replications being nine genotypes grown in two environments with low and high phosphorus availability, using doses of phosphorus fertilization from 20 and 120 kg ha-1 P2O5, applied at planting. To select genotypes suitable for environments proposed was used methodology for selection of the efficient use and response to phosphorus fertilization (efficiency and response). Genotype Amanda was classified as efficient and responsive, Barbara, Julia, Marcela and Carolina Vitoria as efficient, but not responsive and Livia, Duda, Ana Clara and Beatriz were classified as non-efficient, responsive but the absorption and utilization of phosphorus.

The study identified the factors that cause variation in the level of efficiency in potato production. The study used household level cross sectional data collected in 2015/16 from 196 sample farmers selected by multistage sampling technique. For the data collection, a personally administered structured questionnaire was used. In the analyses, descriptive statistics, a stochastic frontier model (SFM) and a two-limit Tobit regression model were employed. Tobit model revealed that technical efficiency was positively and significantly affected by education, land tenure status, extension service, credit and soil fertility whereas variables such as sex of household head, age of household head, farm size and land fragmentation affected it negatively. Therefore the study suggested the need for policies to discourage land fragmentation and promote education, extension visits, access to credit and soil fertility for improvement in technical efficiency.

This study examines how small maize farmers allocate their production inputs and identifies the elements that characterize efficient farms. A Cobb Douglas stochastic frontier approach is used to estimate farm level technical efficiency of maize farmers. Average technical efficiency of sampled farms was estimated to be 65.40% with a minimum of 20.47% and a maximum of 93.46%. The study further showed that the farmers’ sex, the use of improved seeds, the maize selling price, the non-farm income, the contact with an NGO, the access to credit and the production area played a positive and significant role in improving technical efficiency. The results imply that government can save resources used in extension services and focus on its improved seed distribution policy. Also, imperfections in the labor/capital market contribute to the low efficiency of farm households.
