This paper was abstracted from writer experiences in conducting the second year Community Service program among farmer group organizations in Anduriang Village at Padang Pariaman Regency. This program was aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of farmer groups’ human resources in processing animal feed made from natural raw materials, especially from the golden snail, which has often been the enemy of farmers all this time. This study was inspired by various conditions that indicated the powerless of the farmer groups in overcoming the problem of golden snail pests in the Anduriang Village at Padang Pariaman Regency. This issue was reflected in part from the lack of understanding and awareness of farmers in controlling the golden snail pests. Based on this condition, various farmer empowerment programs were needed to be implemented in the form of increasing the farmers’ knowledge and skills in economic development of the society, particularly for the farmer group as target groups of this program. These empowerment programs needed to be conducted collaboratively and synergistically between the local government and universities.

Maesan Village is located in Mojo District, Kediri Regency, East Java Province. In this village, there are farmer groups who have major problems, including in this case pollution due to the use of tin waste, secondly it is still dependent on middlemen who provide low interest prices so they need a way to release dependence on middlemen, third is about financial records. With the case study method of the Kembang Karomah farmer group, in this community service, the solution that will be discussed in this paper is product diversity to increase selling prices, then e-marketing to cut middlemen, when providing insights for recording financial reports. The results of this research and community service are that the Kemabang Karomah farmer group is able to increase their knowledge of human resources and is ready to diversify products to anti-pollutant plants, and be able to use e-marketing applications.

The implementation of the Lifelong Learning programmes (LLL) is aimed to raise the level of knowledge and skills of employees thus developing human capital through increased productivity and competency. However, the extent to which Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) employees feel that this LLL programmes as a requirement for them in career development is still in question. This study aims to explore the perceptions of SME employees on LLL programmes requirements in their career development. This study applied a qualitative approach using case study design. A total of 11 SME employees were selected as its participants. The findings show that the average participants of this study agreed that there is no need for them to engage in the LLL programmes in terms of promotion from employers. This is because SME employers are more committed to working experience, working commitments and social skills. However, in the opinion of SME employees there is a need for them to join the LLL programmes for the purpose of salary increment from employers and opening up other better employment opportunities in their career development.
