ABSTRACT             The beans used in this study were cowpea varieties with the Latin name (Vigna unguiculata ssp. Cylindrica) that are widely known as a protein source where 100 grams of nagara beans contains 22.9 grams of protein. This study aimed to determine the effect of the type and stabilizer concentrations on the quality of probiotic drinks of nagara beans. The types of stabilizers used in this study were Carboxy Methyl Celulose (CMC) and Xanthan gum. This research was carried out using Randomized Block Design (RBD), which consisted of two factors, namely factor I Stabilizing concentrations: 0.5%, 0.75% and 1% stabilizing factor II: CMC and xanthan gum with 3 replications , so that there were 18 times the experimental unit. Based on the SNI (2981: 2009), the best probotic  drink was obtained in 1% CMC treatment with physical quality including liquid-viscous appearance, normal/distinctive smell, sour/distinctive taste, homogeneous consistency and gray color. As well as protein content of 1.7%, ash 0.1%, total lactic acid 0.7%, acidity level (pH) is 3.6 and total LAB 2.3 x 1011 CFU/ml.  Keywords: Nagara beans, Carboxy methyl celulose, xanthan gum, probiotic drinks   ABSTRAK   Kacang yang digunakan pada penelitian ini merupakan kacang tunggak varietas nagara dengan nama latin (Vigna unguiculata ssp. Cylindrica). Kacang-kacangan banyak dikenal sebagai sumber protein dimana per 100 gram kacang nagara mengandung protein 22,9 gram. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis dan konsentrasi penstabil terhadap mutu minuman probiotik kacang nagara. Jenis penstabil yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu Carboxy Methyl celulose (CMC) dan Xanthan gum. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), yang terdiri dari dua faktor, yaitu faktor I  Konsentrasi penstabil : 0,5%, 0,75% dan 1% dan faktor II jenis penstabil : CMC dan xanthan gum dengan 3 kali ulangan, sehingga didapat 18 kali satuan percobaan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan hasil terbaik yang mengacu pada SNI (2981:2009) tentang minuman probiotik yaitu pada perlakuan CMC 1% dengan mutu fisik meliputi penampakan cair-kental, bau Normal/khas, rasa asam/khas, konsistensi homogen dan warna abu-abu. Mutu kimia kadar protein 1,7%, kadar abu 0,1%, total asam laktat 0,7%, derajat keasaman (pH) 3,6 dan total BAL 2,3 x 1011 CFU/ml.   Kata Kunci: Kacang Nagara, carboxy methyl celulose, xanthan gum, minuman probiotik.

The study is to investigate the effectiveness of several anthocyanins on quality of papaya jam. It was conducted using a randomized block design, arranged with two factors. The first factor is the anthocyanin with different source with several levels that of control (without pigment), canna flower, grape and skins dragon fruit, factor II is sugar content which is 40%, 50%, and 60%. The results of the study, indicating that there is significant to increase quality products. The best treatment is papaya jam with canna flower anthocyanin pigment and 60% sugar.

Abstrak. sayur okra merupakan sumber sayuran yang kaya serat, mineral, serta vitamin. Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh berbagi jenis kemasan plastik untuk mempertahankan mutu sayur okra selama penyimpanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dua faktor. Faktor I jenis kemasan (K) terdiri atas tiga taraf : K1 (Plastik PE), K2 (Plastik PP), dan K3 (Plastik LDPE). Faktor II Lama Penyimpanyan (L) yang terdiri dari 2 taraf : L1 (6 hari ), L2 (12 hari), menggunakan tiga kali ulangan diperoleh 18 satuan percobaan. Analisis yang dilakukan meliputi kadar air, susut bobot, dan uji deskriptif berupa warna, tekstur dan penampakan. Hasil penilitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan jenis kemasan (K) berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap  susut bobot sayur okra (P≤0.01). Perlakuan jenis kemasan (K) berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap warna sayur okra. Taraf perlakuan jenis kemasan (K), lama penyimpanan (L), dan interaksi kedua perlakuan (KL) berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap nilai tekstur.PACKAGING AND OLD VARIATION STORAGE ON OKRA QUALITY VEGETABLES (Abelmuschus esculentum)Abstract. : okra vegetables are a source of vegetables that are rich in fiber, minerals, and vitamins. This study aims to study the effect of sharing types of plastic packaging to maintain the quality of okra vegetables during storage. This study used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) two factors. The first type of packaging factor (K) consists of three levels: K1 (Plastic PE), K2 (Plastic PP), and K3 (Plastic LDPE). Factor II Length of Deployment (L) consisting of 2 levels: L1 (6 days), L2 (12 days), using three replications obtained 18 experimental units. The analysis carried out included water content, weight loss, and descriptive tests in the form of color, texture and appearance. The results of the study showed that the treatment of the type of packaging (K) had a very significant effect on the shrinkage of the okra vegetable weight (P (0.01). Treatment type of packaging (K) has a very real effect on the color of okra vegetables. The level of treatment of the type of packaging (K), length of storage (L), and the interaction of the two treatments (KL) had a very significant effect on the texture value.

Mango propagation by grafting usually uses scions 15-20 cm in length consisting of 3-4 buds. This method is less efficient because producing mass plant materials requires a considerable number of scion sources. To increase the efficiency of the scion use, grafting propagation technique with scions that have less than three buds (short scion) is needed. The research aimed to obtain information about the use of the most efficient number of scion bud(s) on mango propagation through grafting technique. The study was carried out at Cukurgondang Experimental Field, Pasuruan, East Java, from January to December 2018. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors and three replications. The factor I was the number of buds on scion for grafting, consisting of 3 levels, i.e., P1 (1 bud), P2 (2 buds), and P3 (3 buds) as a control. Factor II was the variety of scion, consisting of 3 types, i.e., V1 (Garifta Merah), V2 (Agri Gardina 45), and V3 (Gadung 21). Each experimental unit consisted of 15 plant materials. The results indicated that there was no interaction between the number of scion bud(s) with the variety for all observational variables. Scion with 1 bud was the most efficient treatment compared to those with 2 and 3 buds for propagation by grafting. So that with the finding of useful technology in producing mango plant materials, the number of plant materials that can be provided in the same unit of time can be increased. Keywords: grafting, mango, propagation, scion bud   ABSTRAK Perbanyakan mangga dengan sambung pucuk biasanya menggunakan entres yang panjangnya 15-20 cm yang terdiri dari 3-4 mata tunas. Cara ini kurang efisien karena untuk memproduksi benih secara masal memerlukan sumber entres yang sangat banyak. Untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan entres maka diperlukan teknik perbanyakan sambung pucuk dengan menggunakan entres dengan jumlah mata kurang dari 3 mata (entres pendek). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang penggunaan jumlah mata entres yang paling efisien pada perbanyakan mangga melaui teknik sambung pucuk. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Cukurgondang, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur mulai Januari sampai Desember 2018. Percobaan disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan dua faktor dan tiga ulangan. Faktor I adalah jumlah mata entres untuk sambung pucuk terdiri dari tiga level, yaitu: P1 (1 mata), P2 (2 mata), dan P3 (3 mata) sebagai kontrol. Faktor II adalah varietas batang atas terdiri dari tiga level, yaitu: V1 (Garifta Merah), V2 (Agri Gardina 45) dan V3 (Gadung 21). Setiap unit percobaan terdiri dari 15 benih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada interaksi antara perlakuan jumlah mata entres dengan perlakuan varietas untuk semua parameter pengamatan. Entres satu mata merupakan perlakuan yang paling efisien dibandingkan dengan entres 2 dan 3 mata dalam perbanyakan mangga dengan sambung pucuk. Dengan diperolehnya teknologi yang efisien dalam memproduksi benih mangga, maka jumlah benih yang dapat diproduksi dalam satuan waktu yang sama menjadi lebih banyak. There are many of rice field which is located near the industrial area. The industrial waste contains heavy metals (chromium) which will cause contamination of rice if the waste isn’t treated properly. The used of chemical fertilizers can cause chromium contamination. It needs an effort to do remediation, such as using phytostabilization mechanism. This research aimed to determine the role of chelator in chromium phytostabilization and its influence on the growth and quality of rice. The study was conducted in Waru village, Karanganyar in May to October 2018.  This research was factorial design used completely randomized block design with two factors, namely chemical fertilizers and chelator (<em>Agrobacterium </em>sp. I<sub>26</sub>, and manure). The parameters observed are chromium content and uptake by plant tissues (roots, shoot and rice), plant height and a number of clumps. Research output was without chemical fertilizer-chelator <em>Agrobacterium </em>sp. I<sub>26</sub> that can increase the chromium uptake in roots as big as 95.38 %, increased up to 10 %  in the shoot and decreased up to 92.38 % in rice compared to control. Application of <em>Agrobacterium</em> sp. I<sub>26</sub> can be recommended to produce good quality and quantity of rice (good growth and free from harmful pollutants such as chromium metal).

Rice is a rice-producing food crop which now plays an important role in economic life in Indonesia. Namely rice as a staple food is very difficult to replace by other staples. Among them are corn, tubers, sago and other carbohydrate sources. So that the existence of rice is now a top priority for the community in meeting the needs of carbohydrate intake that can be filling and is a source of primary carbohydrates that are easily replaced into an energy source. Rice as a staple food is consumed by approximately 90% of the total population in Indonesia for daily essential food (Saragih,2001). How to plant with the jajar legowo system has the advantage that the plants are on the edge so that optimal sunshine can cause plant productivity to be high, facilitate weed control and pests / diseases, use of fertilizer more effectively and the availability of empty space for regulating water channel circulation on land (Sirrapa, 2011). This research was conducted using Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) method, which consisted of two factors and each factor consisting of 3 levels repeated 3 times, namely: J1: Conventional,J2: Jajar Legowo 2: 1,J3: Jajar Legowo 4: 1. Factor II: Varieties with 3 levels, V1: Situ Bagendit, V2: Ciherang,V3: IR-64. Of the two factors 9 combinations of treatments were obtained and repeated 3 times. Data obtained from observations were calculated by analysis of variance with the Fisher test (-F test at the level of 5% and 1%), if there were significant differences, it would be followed by the Smallest Significant Difference test (LSD 5%). The treatment of the legowo 4: 1 row system and the ciherang variety (V2J3) produces a better value than other treatments.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the yield and physiological quality of bean seeds in two agricultural crops, and the chemical composition of seedlings submitted to adverse temperatures during germination. For the field experiment, a randomized block design was used, using five genotypes, BRS Embaixador, IPR Tuiuiú, Guabiju, Carioquinha and Mouro, arranged in four replicates. The experimental units were composed of five lines with five meters in length, where 25 plants were randomly collected per experimental unit to measure the characters of interest. For laboratory testing the seeds produced were submitted to three temperatures (15, 25 and 35°C) during germination under controlled conditions. The evaluated characters were: grain yield, mass of a thousand seeds, germination, first germination count, starch content, soluble sugar, soluble protein and total amino acids. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and later compared by the Tukey test. Yield per plant revealed changes between the agricultural crops, as well as among the genotypes tested. Germination and the first germination count revealed higher magnitudes in seeds produced by BRS Embaixador, IPR Tuiuiu and Carioquinha genotypes. For all genotypes, protein and amino acid levels were higher in seedlings submitted to lower temperatures. The levels of starch and total soluble sugars were higher in seedlings produced at 35°C. Yield, seed physiological quality and chemical composition of seedlings are influenced by the crop and genotypes tested.

This study aimed to determine the influence of breed and type of extenders on frozen semen quality of cows at BIB Lembang. The experimental study was conducted in a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor was four cow breeds, i.e. Ongole Cross (PO), Brahman (BR), Simmental (SM) and Limousin (LM), and the second factor was two types of extender, i.e. Skim-Egg Yolk (SKT) and AndroMed® (AND), all repeated four times. The observed variables were percentage of spermatozoa motility and intact plasma membrane (IPM). All data obtained were analyzed using a general linear model (IBM SPSS ver. 23). The results demonstrated an interaction between breed and the type of diluent to motility. Breeds showed significantly different motility but non-significantly different intact plasma membrane (MPU) of semen. The type of diluent did not significantly affect motility and intact plasma membrane (MPU) of the frozen semen. The effect of the breed on BR motility was lower and significantly different from PO, LM and SM. The types of diluent did not significantly affect motility, MPU. The results showed that SKT was lower than AND, it was indicative effect of breed on intact plasma membrane (MPU) PO was lower than BR, LM and SM and the effect of the type of diluent on whole plasma membrane (MPU) AND is lower than SKT. It can be concluded that breed influences the motility of semen. The lowest motility reduction in frozen semen is Brahman cattle by using skim-egg yolk extender.

Fertilization outside the season of Siam Orange (Citrus microcarpa L.) with Induction of Flowering and Dormancy Breaking Substances. The Siam orange (Citrus microcarpa L.) produces seasonal fruit with the on-season harvest from July to August while the off-season harvest, i.e. from February to September there is hardly any fruit, or very limited supply. The purpose of this study was to examine the response of flowering induction and dormancy-breaking substances to produce off-season fruits of Siam orange. This research began in April to December 2016. The experiment was arranged factorially with two factors using a randomized block design (RBD), with nine combination treatments and six replications. Flowering induction factors consist of three levels, namely Ik = Control, IP = Paclobutrazol at a dose of 7.5 g/l, and Im = cutting the tip of dormant twigs. Dormancy-breaking substances factor consists of three levels, namely Dk = Control, Db = BAP 200 ppm, and Dn = KNO3 300 ppm. The results of the experiment showed that the highest fruit weight per tree at off-season production was obtained by induction with paklobutrazol (28.86 kg) and the lowest was in control (12.75 kg). Flowering induction treatments was not significantly different effect on fruit quality of Siam orange, represented by weight per fruits, fruit diemater, total soluble solid and vitamine C content was not siginificant different among levels of treatment. Dormancy-breaking substances treatment also not significantly effect on fruit quality of Siam orange. Based on this research it is recommended to induce flower for off-season produce of Siam orange by pruning the tips of dormant twigs or by using paklobutrzol.

This research aims to know the effect interaction of application of types and different dosage of organic fertilizers on production and fruit quality of melons on peatlands, effect of application of types and different dosage of organic fertilizers on production and fruit quality of melons on peatlands, and the agronomic efficiency of the use of several types and different dosage of organic fertilizers on production of melons on peatlands. This research design was used as a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consists of two factors with 4 replication. The first factor consisted of types of organic fertilizer (P) i.e. chicken manure (PA), guano manure (PG), and cow manure (PS). The second factor consisted of fertilizer dosage (D) i.e. 0 tons ha-1 (without fertilization, called control), D1 = 15 tons ha-1, D2 = 30 tons ha-1 and D3 = 45 tons ha-1. The data obtained by analysis of variance (ANOVA) or F test at a = 5% and 1% levels to determine the effect of treatment was tested further by HSD (honestly significant difference) testat the level of 5%. The result shows that the interaction type of organic fertilizer and the dosage of organic fertilizer treatment significant effect on the weight of the melon. Chicken manure is the best organic fertilizer on the size and quality of the melon. Dosage of 45 tons ha-1 organic fertilizer gave the highest results but it was not significantly different with a dosage of 30 tons ha-1. The use of chicken manure fertilizer of 30 tons ha-1 is more efficient in agronomy in increasing melons yield on peatlands.

An Experiment carried out in Al-Yarmook Area in Baghdad for the growing season 2014 to study the effects of foliar application of Salicylic acid and Humic acid on Vincristine and NPK content in Catharanthus roseus. A factorial experiment was applied including two factors according to The Complete Randomized Block Design, the first factor included four levels of salicylic acid 0, 25, 50, and 100 mg.L-1 which were represented with S0, S1, S2, and S3 sequentially, the second factor included three levels of Humic acid 0, 0.75, and 1.5 ml.L-1 and were represented with O0, O1, and O2 sequentially to make up 12 factors in total that were distributed randomly upon three replicates and each experimental unit included 8 plants. The results were analyzed using Genestat and the differences were tested according to (LSD) with a level of probability 5% and the results were as follows: Vincristine levels increased in the leaves of Catharanthus roseus as a result of foliar application of Salicylic acid and Humic as well NPK levels in leaves. Vinblastine was not detected in all treatments. The interaction effect between 100 mg.L-1 Salicylic acid and 1.5 ml.L-1Humic acid had an exceeding effect for all the studied parameters. It may be concluded that Salicylic and Humic acid may be used to increase Vincristine alkaloid content in Periwinkle plants at the levels 100 ml.L-1 and 1.5 mg.L-1 subsequently.
