Today, databases are an integral part of most modern applications designed to store large amounts of data and to request from many users. To solve business problems in such conditions, databases are scaled, often horizontally on several physical servers using replication technology. At the same time, many business operations require the implementation of transactional compliance with ACID properties. For relational databases that traditionally support ACID transactions, horizontal scaling is not always effective due to the limitations of the relational model itself. Therefore, there is an applied problem of efficient implementation of ACID transactions for horizontally distributed databases. The subject matter of the study is the methods of implementing ACID transactions in distributed databases, created by replication technology. The goal of the work is to increase the efficiency of ACID transaction implementation for horizontally distributed databases. The work is devoted to solving the following tasks: analysis and selection of the most relevant methods of implementation of distributed ACID transactions; planning and experimental research of methods for implementing ACID transactions by using of NoSQL DBMS MongoDB and NewSQL DBMS VoltDB as an example; measurements of metrics of productivity of use of these methods and formation of the recommendation concerning their effective use. The following methods are used: system analysis; relational databases design; methods for evaluating database performance. The following results were obtained: experimental measurements of the execution time of typical distributed transactions for the subject area of e-commerce, as well as measurements of the number of resources required for their execution; revealed trends in the performance of such transactions, formed recommendations for the methods studied. The obtained results allowed to make functions of dependence of the considered metrics on loading parameters. Conclusions: the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of distributed ACID transactions using MongoDB and VoltDB were identified. Practical recommendations for the effective use of these systems for different types of applications, taking into account the resources consumed and the types of requests.

Financial data volumes are increasing, and this appears to be a long-term trend, implying that data managementdevelopment will be crucial over the next few decades. Because financial data is sometimes real-time data, itis constantly generated, resulting in a massive amount of financial data produced in a short period of time. The volume, diversity, and velocity of Big Financial Data are highlighting the significant limitations oftraditional Data Warehouses (DWs). Their rigid relational model, high scalability costs, and sometimesinefficient performance pave the way for new methods and technologies. The majority of the technologiesused in background processing and storage research were previously the subject of research in their earlystages. The Apache Foundation and Google are the two most important initiatives. For dealing with largefinancial data, three techniques outperform relational databases and traditional ETL processing: NoSQL andNewSQL storage, and MapReduce processing.

The subject area of the application of information systems to small business is a thoroughly interesting, yet relatively under-researched topic. Small business is an important part of any economy. In the United Kingdom, 25% of the gross domestic product is produced by small business, which employs 65% of the nation’s workers (Ballantine et al., 1998). In Canada, 43% of economic output is accounted for by small business, employing 50% of private sector employees (Industry Canada, 1997). Further, governments view the small business sector as that component of the economy that can best contribute to economic growth (Balderson, 2000). Given the importance of this sector of the economy, it is incumbent upon researchers and managers of small business to develop a better understanding of how information systems may contribute to the operation and growth of individual businesses as well as the overall sector. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of information systems used by small business. Research projects are presented that describe the current situation. Recommendations are then proffered for various stakeholders who should contribute to a more effective use of information systems by small business.

There has been a great deal of discussion about null values in relational databases. The relational model was defined in 1969, and Nulls Was died in 1979. Unfortunately, there is not a generally agreeable solution for rull values problem. Null is a special marker which stands for a value undefined or unknown, which means thut ne entry has been made, a missing valuc mark is not a value and not of a date type and cannot be treated as a value by Database Management System (DBMS). As we know, distributed database users are more than a single database and data will be distributed among several data sources or sites, it must be precise data, the replication is allowed there, so complex problems will appear, then there will be need for perfect practical general approaches for treatment of Nulls. A distributed database system is designed, that is "Hotel reservation control system, based on different data sources at four site, each site is represented as a Hotel, for more heterogeneity different application programming languages there are five practical approaches, designed with their rules and algorithms for Null values treatment through the distributed database sites. The article analyzes the provisions of the cultural-historical psychology that serve as a theoretical and methodological basis for the practice of general education in biology. International monitoring of educational achievements reveals low biological literacy of Russian schoolchildren. The authors see the main reason in the insufficiently thought-out selection of the subject content. In middle school courses, it is mostly empirical, reduced to the study of the structure and functions of organisms and their diversity. In high school courses, it is theoretical, but theoretical concepts are given in a ready-made form, are not sufficiently interconnected and are often reduced to dictionary definitions, which negatively affects the development of cognitive and personal abilities of students. Currently, general biological education is being reformed, and the concentric construction of the subject content is being replaced with a linear one, which completely eliminates theoretical concepts from the middle school courses. The authors see the solution to the problem in updating the content of the school course in biology. As a methodological basis for the selection of content, a system approach is considered, the provisions of which were implemented by L.S. Vygotsky in the construction of the subject area of the cultural-historical psychology. Vygotsky’s ideas about developmental learning and their further elaboration in the general psychological and psychological-pedagogical theory of activity are suggested as a theoretical basis for the organization of the educational process. Special attention is paid to the theory of learning activity developed in the works of D.B. Elkonin, V.V. Davydov, their disciples and followers. The paper presents the concept of the content for the school course in biology and describes the experience of its implementation.

An evaluative study of a selection of primary and sec ondary information sources of potential use for current aware ness in the field of occupational diseases is presented. This study identifies the more important English language primary sources of occupational diseases research information. Re search studies in the field of occupational diseases, however, are scattered widely in the medical literature. This study com pares the usefulness of a variety of secondary sources as current awareness tools for bringing together this widely scattered information. Several secondary sources are useful but, despite considerable overlap between these sources, no single source provides comprehensive coverage of the subject field. Scanning of a number of primary sources together with several secondary sources is recommended as the best means of keeping abreast of the latest research information in this subject area.

Epistemology began to show some signs of crisis, it touched its scientific paradigm: the object. subject, method, as well as its social relevance. In society, there was a request not only to obtain knowledge about knowledge, but also to use knowledge management technologies as a consumer of information, which is due to the rapid growth of the number of Internet users and its autonomy and independence. The aim of the work is to consider in the subject field of epistemology of technical networks (Internet) as an independent actor and an element of a special sociotechnical system; analysis of the activities of network social actors to establish control over the process of social cognition through knowledge management and attitudes. Bruno Latour's "actor-network theory" (ANT) was chosen as the research method it allows to give theoretical and methodological substantiation of the descriptor of subjectivity of networks in complex sociotechnical systems. The paper assesses the technical networks (Internet) as an independent actor of the sociotechnical system and describes their functioning in this capacity. The analysis of such a sphere in the subject area of epistemology as knowledge management, little studied, but extremely relevant in connection with the perception of the global Internet as a fairly independent area of life of network communities and new network media. It is concluded that a promising direction for modern constructivist epistemology is the study of the problems of establishing control over the production, transfer and accumulation of knowledge in society, as well as the negative manifestations of such control in the form of manipulation of consciousness, the use of open and hidden censorship.

The research is aimed at identifying the characteristics of the conceptual apparatus of the subject area «information society», which is considered as the most important means of communication. The expansion of means of communication in the context of active introduction of information technologies into various fields of activity using both linguistic and non-linguistic signs is indicated. With the participation of representatives of various spheres of activity (IT‑specialists, representatives of authorities and management, regulatory and supervisory and law enforcement agencies, information service providers and information technology users), who have different levels of vocabulary in the subject area «information society» in the communication process, information transfer is associated with its possible lack of understanding or complete misunderstanding by the communication participants. Despite the presence of publications devoted to the issues of standardization and the use of concepts characterizing various aspects of the information society formation and development in the modern documentary stream, there are no studies reflecting results of the system analysis of the term system of the subject area «information society». Based on the content analysis of the abstracts journal «Informatics», which reflects the global documentary flow (chronological coverage: 2000–2018) and Russian regulatory documents in the field of informatization of society, international and national (Russian) standards, the composition of the concepts used has been revealed. During the study of the composition and the content of the concepts definitions enshrined in regulatory and technical documents, such challenges of the conceptual apparatus formation as inconsistency of definitions used both in different industries and in different standards included in one complex or a system of standards; incorrect use of terms that have definitions enshrined in regulatory documents; parallel use of synonymous terms and concepts, including within the same field of activity, have been identified. It is proposed to consider increasing the efficiency of communications in the information society through solving a set of tasks: formation of a terminology system that meets the requirements of international and Russian regulatory documents, development of a classification of concepts that characterize the information society as a whole and its components; adaptation of the conceptual apparatus enshrined in normative legal and normative and technical documents; development of information retrieval thesauri, and complex reference editions

The article outlines the methods for creating SQL queries in relational databases. The use of the structured query language SQL in relational databases is substantiated. It provides information about the SQL standard and the three-tier database organization system. The author describes the choice of a data model based on the conceptual level using to that end an example of the Kokand Pedagogical Institute as the relational database model. A relational conceptual diagram of the information model of a pedagogical institute is compiled. Such a conceptual diagram is depicted using a cluster. Objects of the subject area are depicted in the form of tables, which differ from each other in geometric shapes or colors. The relationships between tables in Microsoft Access are presented. The basic rules for creating and filling tables in SQL using the instructions CREATE TABLE and INSERT INTO are considered. The syntax of the SELECT statement is given. All offers of the SELECT statement and their order are listed. Examples are given for compiling simple queries and subqueries in SQL using the SELECT statement for the database of the Kokand Pedagogical Institute. Information about the order of execution of internal and external requests is given. The article considers the ORDER BY offer of a SELECT statement for sorting query results.
